I`ve thought in which section should I post this, here should be the best.

I`ve decided to step down from the role of an admin to a regular member/player, purely out of personal reasons. I`ll drop all the boring details behind this decision, the only thing I`ll add is, it has not been made over-night.

I`ve had a lot of fun, I`ve met a lot of new people, a lot of great people. I want to thank Staff (new and old - yes, you Raz) for giving me a chance to contribute to the community, be a part of its leadership. I hope we`ve all learned things together, in good or bad times, and I have no regrets.

I`ll stay around, just as a regular player and user.

Jason. got a reaction from Munic in [eu#1/2] Move the UAV's to the UAV resupply base
I haven't used the UAVs recently on EU1, but assuming they're still in the same positions, then I definitely agree that they should be moved.
As someone who has spent a lot of time operating UAVs, I still struggled to consistently take-off from their spawn positions. So I don't think it's fair (or makes any sense) to have them in a position where even a competent UAV op should lose a UAV because there is not enough distance to take off.

I think the best (and easiest) solution would be to move them to the resupply base as Max suggested.

@Cryo It's a nice idea but that could end up with a lot of darters in the air, which can impact server performance.

Jason. reacted to Max in [eu#1/2] Move the UAV's to the UAV resupply base
Currently, the UAV's take off down a dirt track with a house at the bottom. Recently, I've heard many people who are using the UAV's cannot get them to take off at all. You might say this is down to skill, to which I say, fair enough. However, from my own experience the house, until it is inevitably destroyed by flying a UAV into it, cannot actually be cleared on take-off. Additionally, when I first played UAV operator on I&A3, I didn't spot the UAV resupply base in the south east of the map, so I had no idea what I was supposed to do with them once both bombs had been dropped.
To kill two birds with one stone: Have the UAV's spawn at the same base you resupply them at.

Jason. reacted to Chuck in New music bot on Teamspeak!
    Hey Guys,

We have a new music bot on TeamSpeak now, under the "MusicBot" channel under the Donator channel. It tells you what is currently playing in the channel chat or you can type !playing

Guests can't do anything to the bot. Only enjoy the music
Members can download youtube Music using !qyt <Youtubeurl> (This adds it to the queue and plays it when the previous songs have finished)
Donators can download off youtube, this is stored on the server for future selection by members. (!ytdl <youtube URL> , this is instant and will overwrite the queue) Donators can also use the !next , !previous and !stop commands

These are the commands the bot will respond to depending on your server group

!next will skip to the next song
.next is for voting for the next song (you need 51% or more channel members to vote in favour).
!previous Will select the previous song in the playlist
!search will search files which are downloaded to the bot.
    !queue  resume queue playback.
!queue <searchstring / uuid> enqueue a track by its id or search for a track and enqueue the first match.
!queuenext <searchstring / uuid> prepend a track by its id or search for a track and prepend the first match to the queue.
!qyt <youtube url> will line up a youtube song in the queue.
If you don't have access to some of these commands it's probably because you're not part of the right server group; inquire with MessedUpSmiley for further info.

    From the rules:
    8. Until it’s resolved taking control of AI and killing players is not permitted it will be classed as teamkilling.

I don't know if this rule was broken in this case, but consider it a reminder so it's not forgotten.

The Zeus's job is NOT to punish players for making subjective mistakes, if it were then I assure you the playerbase would be long gone.

I thought it would be common sense, but I don't see how it's a good idea to change the weather without asking the players first.

I think the fundamental issue is still that zeuses are forgetting their primary purpose, to IMPROVE the players experience, not their own.

    Hi everybody,
I don't post here much and should try harder, I love Arma and you people are great!
    BUT
I want to have an official grumble.  EU2.  It's usually empty.  It's usually dark and it's usually foggy.
This is a massive shame as its a great map.
Dark AND foggy really is rubbish most of the time anyway on any map, when you can't see the enemy until you are 200 meters away from them and they can see you at 400 meters that is not realistic or anything, its just rubbish.

So many times I have needed to get out my thermals just to see the enemy 200 meters away then go back to my weapon and shoot at the fog hoping I might hit something....Terrible.

The Tanoa map is totally different from Altis and makes I&A much harder which I really like.

I&A on Altis is often a spectator sport as 60 player steam-roller the AI .  So if you get to the AO late the AO's are pretty much empty.  Tanoa requires co-ordinated squad play and skilled players to succeed.  Using armor is  pretty much useless, so are long range sights and rifles, and guided AT.  That's all good with me.

The big problem is the fog and the dark, it just makes I&A on Tanoa way too hard which I think really puts people off from going on it.

At the heart of my gripe is the fact that there is never any admins on it that can make it un-dark and un-foggy.

I think the server should be checked regularly for fog and de-fogged. I would also like to see it re-booted every day to make sure that at lets say 7:00 pm UK time its early morning game time.  So that for real life gaming prime time in the UK and Europe it stays light until the wee-small hours of the morning when most people are tucked-up in bed.

Hopefully that will bring people back to Tanoa.  At them moment its a total waste of this great new map and also EU2.

When I&A3 was released, I was thinking of a more central base capture. Looking at the map, AAC Airfield caught my eyes but @BACONMOP beat me to it with FOB Martian (never got the chance to visit it yet). I would like to suggest that, over time, we convert FOB Martian to our more advanced base. I have tried creating the base in 3D Editor. Do point out my suggestion's flaws. I think AAC Airfield is more centralised and players can move easily. Also, the airstrip is good for UAV Greyhawk. PBO download link (Updated: 20161102)

    base design
New base looks more like a quick setup for a insurgency army - i quite dislike the position for it too,as you have to travel a shitload of dirtpaths and rocks to get off this (in a vehicle).
Way to much vehicles too,we dont really need 2 Hunter HMG + 2 Hunter + 2 Hunter GMG,then the usual gazillions of Quadbikes on base and the Prowlers (which dont apply to the vehicle respawn once no person is near,i crashed in 2-3 by now that just idled empty on a dirtpath forever).
And where are the liftable Offroad Repair Service vehicles - did they got cut?
Also, base is exposed to FF as base protection script ends just on the hilltop nxt to base and is currently greatly abused by multiple players.

    AO´s
Looks like the radiotower task totally got capped as i failed to witness one radiotower (at least the marker isnt seen on map anymore) and therefor its hard to judge if a AO is safe to approach in vehicles.I just drove in a KUMA (side reward) to nearest AO,fired 2 shots then got rocketeered by enemy air with 1 single rocket. So we back to CAS is now deadly again.
Imo there s a way over the line use of the enemy Artillerie obj.Seen at least 4 on 2 different AO´s.Then now its only Sorchors and no guard infantry, guard tanks or whatever - they just sit there waiting to be shot and keep on their firemission.
I dont see the point of the AO caches too,its nice to have a additional task in AOs,but what use has it to do this prior to clearing AO per se?

    advanced FOBs (Martian,etc.)
Managed to turn a AO into a FOB after completing it,altho its hardly any difference. You get 1 Hunter HMG + GMG and a truck + a Ammo Box Cache (Arsenal).
No Vehicle Service ability - you still have to move back to base in order to service your asset.
Which leads to the question of "not having Vehicle Service points" like before on I+A 2 regualr spread on the island.Cant understand that not having this.

    overall issues
I dont find the performance of the mission to be greatly better than before,to me it plays very mediocre,to give a example use a river at best performacne - right now it feels liek a muddy swamp to me. Cant back that up with fact/data.
The marker script showing actual groupnames looks nice, but has its issue too.Its not 100% accurate on position and hard to view on map compared to I+A 2 where you coudl easily sit on base and make sense of the movements of markers/people doing stuff.
"Clear Vehicle Inventory" options needs to be added to all vehicles.

Overall, its a good throw but i need to adapt to the new style of the mission.
Honestly, its not a thumbs up for me (yet) - i keep comparing to much to I+A 2 and this isnt necessarily a good thing, but like said i´ll adapt.
Currently i see this more like a beta version of the real mission,as imo there quite a few things that needs to be tested (if it fits the community style of play) and some kinks being worked out.

So far, great work Bacon, keep on bugfixing and see how your mission plays out to the different playstyle of the community.
    I´ll be eagerly watching.

Right, over the past weeks on my playtime i notice a increase of ZEUS missions (which isnt necessarily a bad thing) but also a rapidly change in ZEUS actions!
Back when this ZEUS thing came to A3 the gods focused on creating custom missions for a certain part of the community, helped out players and enforced server rules (to a limit) as a "right hand of admin".
Nowadays tho,i witness a certain "overconfidence" on the (newer) ZEUS´s.
In example,i got several screens of occasions a ZEUS thougt to "improve" side missions which turn out to either make the mission way longer and stressy than it used to be,up to a point where they complety fuck up any motivation on continueing the begone mission.

    Background INTEL:

    So,what does this leads to?

    Firstly,i wanna quote this

Imo this above mentioned examples do perfectly qualify for this.
ZEUS´s are here to improve gameplay, enhance gameplay and help securing the server (to a extend).
There s is absolutly no need to ZEUS on anybody when said players do not wish to be conflicted with any ZEUS creations, hence even keeping way off ZEUS missions to not get involved.
Improving a mission just because you can is not the wished behaviour for a ZEUS (imo) and i m eagerly waiting for a HQ response to the abov mentioned events.

This is not how i want my I+A to turn out,you got "special" ZEUS servers,if you feel the need to play the overconfident ZEUS,fel free to play on EU4 and dont take your god given shit to EU1 if you cannot accept simple borders of creation!
EU1 is a "beginner/starter" server, imo 1-2 ZEUS missions per 24h is doable, but i applaude for cutting down their actions by a lot because its simply put "tiresome" to face "mission beginners and their crazy thinking of how a MP mission should work on  daily basis.

There sure is more to say,but this is ok to get a discussion started.
Raise your opinions, critic, suggestions and even improvements here - i m expecting a shitload of response by the usual naabs here too,so i ll bite back.
And lets see how HQ thinks about the actions of their created gods!

    Dear Dai-San...

At first: I completely share you frustration if its about the side mission being wasted/failed by triggerhappy-lookatmeimarambodestroyingeverything-hero's.

    Secondly:
    - It isnt a 100% members only forum, but the majority reading the forum are the active members im sure. I dont have the exact stats, but im sure the majority of the people wasting the sidemission dont even know theres a ahoy-forum. Let alone visit it, let alone read all the posts (including this one).

    At last (in 2 parts):

    - I dont represent myself as ahoy spokesman but i do give my opinion as i did here before. The point i want(ed) to make is the following: the majority (you included Dai-San) of the ahoy members are very capable arma players. And with some searching on the forums, you find out the side-mission is the most discussed topic if it comes to invade and annex (together or thanks to the endless discussion about the side rewards). I didnt step up on behalf of ALL Ahoy but im 100% sure everybody on this forum knows how to play the side missions.
-About me being a ahoy member: im quite well known in the community i think, most people like me and maybe some people dislike me for sure. Im here for over 2 years, being a member for about 15 months and for about a year a donator. Since David took over ahoy im a field ambassador, something i didnt ask for. My approach, specially if there were new players who had 0 experience is to introduce them to invade & annex and do some training, this includes explaining the side-mission.

    In short
    Side mission fails are frustrating.
Side mission fails are part of the game until the servers become private.
I had no intention flooring or insulting anyone.
The forum has a very limited reach if it comes to people who dont know what they are doing.
I prefer to help people in the game, also explaining the side.
I think you misinterpeted me or understood me wrong in my intentions.
My apologies for not being more accurate in my previous post and if any insult was given, my sincere apologies.

Question: Is it possible to get a more detailed statement about what happened?

What happened? Exploit in software (and could it be prevented by an official update) Hack into the server (and could it be prevented by server admin / hosting company) Abuse of admin account (and was the admin called "admin" with password "admin") Could it have been prevented? By the team who maintains the website (update, server config, admin credentials) Or was it a day-one attack without any known fixes What is done to fix it? What is done to prevent it in the future? What will be done in the future to prevent it from happening again? Who was/were responsible? At AW side (simply "we as AW" is an acceptable answer) the thrid party who "got in" (if known) These are some questions which I always answer in case something happened, even without asking, so I'm surprised that we don't have these yet.
I'm aware that not all questions can be answered directly, a a bit more information than "shit happened but we're back" is too little.

Background: I've been working in web development for over 10 years now, and unfortunatally had issues like this as well. And I've learned that the most important thing is to stay transparent to clients/users/etc. and take your losses, even when it's not visible to them (which in this case did happen).

    Agree on the ghillies.

    As for the loadout:
I'm no expert by any means, but I always thought one of the tasks spotters are assigned is to be the sniper's close range protection? If so, shouldn't that limit their gear to standard rifles, with an optional grenade launcher if desired?

    So something like...
Spotter: assault rifles (MX, Kathiba, Mk20, ...), up to medium range optics (RCO and the likes)
Marksman: medium-range rifles (MXM, Mk-I EMR, Mk18, ...), medium or long range scopes
    Sniper: long-range or large-caliber rifles (MAR-10, M320, GM6), long range scopes

The way I see it, this would require a DM/S to have someone close to protect him from threats nearby, thus (hopefully) increasing team play?

Screw it, I gotta call it as I see it. No more jokes.

What you're describing is a perfect scenario of a spotter and sniper coordinating properly. In that same scenario, AT gunners also have assistant AT specialists that carry the missiles that the specialists can carry to even out the weight load. On a millsim or EU 3 server, I would completely agree this. HOWEVER...

This is EU 2! A server where your enemy is extremely mobile and will immediately start pressing onto your position at a quick rate! you NEED to be at least somewhat mobile to evade your enemy, and GOD HELP YOU if the enemy has artillery!
Seriously, If artillery comes up now, the server becomes UNPLAYABLE unless you have a massive fource to counter them. That force also must be mobile to evade artillery and still have enough firepower to completely take them out. I mean, watch this:

    HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: 2:15-2:45, 8:00-8:30, and 15:10-15:35

Look @Jocky and his pics, especially with his "best load out for the weight" one. O_O is all I have to give to that. Before I made the video linked above there was this other guy, this pub who was probably in the server for the first time, who kept having to go back and fourth from the arsenal and 10 feet away because he either lost an item from the class system of he couldn't do anything past walking, and he wasn't in a ghillie suit and had a Bergen backpack. Nope, he just had a standard class load out on and a field pack, and he could not, for the life of him, figure out a loud out that could suit him. So what did he do? he left. left and most likely will never come back because he'll find somewhere else.

This needs to be kept in mind here if these changes are going to be permanent in the public servers. EU 2 is a public server for the casuals, as I have said, and Ahoyworld is supposed to be a community that welcomes all playstyles, right? How are you going to grow a playerbase for casual arma 3 players with such tight restrictions?

I'm with @xSniper1982 on this one. This is a step in the right direction, but it still requires some heavy tweaking, such as taking base equipment like cloths, vests, helmets,  and all of your other base gear and editing their default weight. Something like a 50% off their base weight so you can at least HAVE a standard military grade load out and be able to at least sprint around in dashes when you need them the most.

Just my two cents. Feel free to try to counter but before you do I'll ask two questions from you...
    1. Have you played on EU 2 before these new changes and with these new changes?
    2. Did you play with a large group of players during server "prime time" or with a small fireteam or even squad sized element?

Seriously, your argument for or against the new changes will solely depend on your answer for those two questions. I guarantee it.

Like Sniper said, most people don't have the patience for that, hell people are already respawning when a medic IS available, I can't see people waiting around when there isn't.
I would add that medevacs are fun when it's a rush against time to get somebody back to base before they die, but it's a level of roleplaying that most people just aren't interested in.

Alright, alright, let me just outline a few problems, a little bug report if you will as feedback from myself and a few others from testing out the new arsenal.

-AT specialists need to click on a titan rocket launcher, then immediately go to their backpack and add the missiles. Doing it in any other order won't allow you to add the missiles to your backpack. Titan AP rockets are also missing, but I'd be willing to bet that that was intentional...
-The new nightvision/thermal goggles allowed in arsenal can only be equipped via arsenal, but if you bring them via inventory for someone else they get taken out of your inventory when you try to equip them because "you're not allowed to use this item"
-Saved loadouts can't be loaded, even brand new ones you make with the new changes can't be loaded in if you leave the server. you're able to reload any loadouts you saved in your current session within the server however.
-Deathstar UAV operator spawns with Darter backpack, but CANNOT get another one Via arsenal
-Mine detectors spawn on engineer and EOD specialist classes but cannot get another one VIA arsenal. Explosive specialist spawns with 2 mine detectors.
-the CTRG stealth uniform that isn't a Tee or rolled up isn't in Arsenal (one that fully covers the arms). Honestly I don't know if there was one to begin with but I've heard multiple complaints about not being able to have a full body stealth uniform

    additionally:
-every class can still grab a UAV terminal via arsenal.

If you're doing this for Luetin (which is just a rumor, but a possibility)...
-Consider limiting the new Bergen backpacks to the AT class, there's no bloody reason to have everyone wearing the big new backpack, it'll just let everyone bring a sh*t ton of mags to the AO, something Lt is trying to put a stop to...
-If this is for Luetin, don't give us thermal hiding gear. If you watch his streams, the only way he can quickly find the players when he shoots at them is with thermals, so you'd just be giving him something to complain about later

    On a final note:
There needs to be a discussion about telling your playerbase about the changes you're dropping onto the servers. The issue has become an elephant in the room scenario, and it needs to be addressed. weeks ago there were some minor changes made to I and A regarding co pilots along with changes to EU 3's unit structure, and slowly more and more changes have been made right under everyones' noses. While everyone can appreciate edits being made to ensure improvement to the game (which we are all very thankful for <3), I humbly ask that there is a method in place for you to tell us (things said in a TS channel through its description, an announcement in the forums, an edit to the I and A changelog) because, from a member of the community representing many other members when I say this, it's starting to get a little annoying to join into one of the servers and find the carpet pulled out from under you...

Just my two cents, I hope the bug report helped you in some way

However despite being very new, shiny, and lets be honest, really awesome to see being used, I've seen a couple of people struggle to operate this powerful new aircraft. To aid these individuals in their endeavours, I've pieced together a short video guide on how to fly this thing effectively. And by short I mean 3 minutes long. I hope you all enjoy it and take full advantage of this amazing new aircraft!

I'll poke the hornet's nest and claim that this is right up there with the major issues we face. Months ago during the community meeting, we were promised an increase in communication between staff and players. So far, I've seen none of that. On EU3 we have more active mods and they do an excellent job being the glue between loose planks during play, but they can only do so much.

Communication, to me, includes guidance and a firm grip on things. It's right there in the word, it literally means to bring together, to share. Instead we got divided. Lately we've seen shifts in the repo that were unannounced to the general public, changes in Gauntlet and just an altogether lack of making sure stuff works before claiming it's finished and done. The repo was updated and didn't work for the better part of a day, which I'm sure could have been avoided had there been proper testing. Unless you were present by chance when it was casually mentioned in a conversation a week before, the requirement for a leading position will have surprised you. Mentioning there were "not just two" reasons for something but then not going into any detail only sparks rumours and division. I've seen many such instances when somebody got insufficient data, or had a slip of the tongue, brought it up somewhere else and fuelled scepticism.

We don't need a backstage pass, but I'm confident that some insight into where EU3 is meant to be taken would help tremendously. For a while now both parties seemed oblivious to what the other is up to, what each side wants. People open up to each other in group discussions, but those don't help. On the contrary, they make things worse in the long run, for reasons outlined above. There are assumptions around that don't need to be there, simply because the community feels like the higher-ups don't listen anyway. This thread is good. Show them that they do.

Jason. reacted to Harrod200 in Need a ASL/CMD to start a mission.
I've burned out from more than one game by caring too much about it, nowadays I play to enjoy playing. If I'm not enjoying what I'm doing, I'll change roles or leave to do something else; much as I enjoy playing with the team, I hold no commitment to other peoples' enjoyment beyond the point it enhances my own. I make no apologies for just alt+f4'ing when the game goes in a direction I don't want it to.

WRT changes, I'm always in favour of trialling initially and, once they've been given a fair chance and evaluated by the player base, they can be considered for permanent adoption, reversion, or modification and retrial, by popular vote. If an idea isn't taken up, that's no slight on whoever came up with it and doesn't mean it's a bad idea; it simply didn't work here. Propose ideas freely, if taken up then great, if not, then never mind. I suffer a lot from difficulty in separating criticism of my ideas and opinions from criticism of myself, and looking around online, I'm seeing the same thing more and more all over the place; if we can get over that, I think great things could be achieved.

Thinking back over the last few days over the 'toxic' community comments, I can see a few occurrences where I could have done something different, or tried to help out more. Yesterday, Vortex was not performing anywhere near as well as it has with more experienced crews; there was a lot of complaining, but not a lot of consideration for the other side. It's not the experienced person's responsibility to train and mentor others who are less experienced; as I said above, I play to enjoy the game, and it would be hypocritical of me to expect others to do otherwise, but where someone is willing to learn, and someone willing to teach (as I often am when I have some valuable knowledge), I think this should be encouraged as much as possible.

What would the management team think of a number of Mentor slots on the server? Unconstrained by manning rules and loadout limitations, not counting towards any squad strength, which can be used to go along with pilots, leaders etc to allow, where someone is willing, an experienced person to shadow a newer player and guide them. These slots are clearly open to abuse, but I don't believe it would be hard to identify abuse and apply disciplinary process appropriately.

Jason. got a reaction from Kyle Clements in EU1 & EU2 NOTICE TO PILOTS RULES ARE CHANGING
Zissou I 100% understand where you're coming from here, and I largely agree with it.
But can you not see a scenario where a pilot will be waiting for a LONG time (potentially hours) for somebody to come and repair/refuel his heli but nobody comes?
Because I certainly can, I've played enough of EU1 to have experienced many situations just like it, so to force pilots to wait for another player to help them doesn't seem quite right.
If this is going to remain as a strict rule then pilots won't even try to land a damaged heli, because they know that then they will have to wait for somebody to repair/refuel them, instead they'll just crash so that they can respawn.
