As we realized that its hard to do trainings more often because most of regular EU3 Players prefer to play gauntlet, instead of "learning" what they already know. Me and MoonFire came up with a little idea, we could host "Private" Training Sessions for people that would want to participate in them, i could go with more advanced Ace features, Kestrel 4000, MicroDAGR, Vector 21, AgTrax and others, while MoonFire could go through all the medical stuff, obviously we don't want to interfere or compete with Rykos training sessions, but as of now, they happen once a week and not everyone can attend them because of work, and other private life activities.

Where we (Me & MoonFire) could host private trainings whenever we are online, and whenever people want to learn something.
The trainings wouldn't be led as actual training sessions, as there would be no planned times nor topics, whenever there would be a group of people that want to learn something of, for example MicroDAGR i would just start the server and show them its features.

The main reason of this post is to see if people like the idea, and see if anyone new would like to attend something like this.
I would be more than honored if any of the regulars would like to join us, maybe find something they didn't knew out, or drop any tips from themselves.

I would also like to ask Ryko if he would be willing to provide us with his awesome training map, as i am not any good at making maps or writing scripts.

My server is not any kind of dedicated machine, nor public server do I not draw any benefits of hosting it.
And i do not aim to advertise it with that post
(Its a private server hosted from dedicated arma 3 server .exe file on my computer, just so everyone know)

I apologize for any typos or language fails, English is not my main language.

    Cheers

First time in writing these letters I actually don't know how to start it. I'm looking at this plain white paper and I'm starting to feel uncomfortable of how scary it is while it's empty, without words. You know the feeling when you haven't interact with something you've enjoyed for months. Suddenly you feel lost, cut-off from exploring.
I'm finding calm in previous letters and how Community of Ahoy members have enjoyed it by engaging into direct conversations and expressing their observations, arguing, discussing and I thank them to that. Words are the fuel of this community.

@Raz has left. Now we need to repair AW wing. David has stepped out. And he is asking for our help. Rough ride like Raz said. But we will find that ride in greatness of success which Raz was reaching. With David, it has to be another awesome ride for Ahoy Community.
Communication to David is the key. And I agree on that. And I'm sure we're all agreed on that. This forms community. Our Ahoy Community. He also suggested meetings to become more regularly. This way we can express ourselves verbally. I don't know David very well (except from
) but I'm sure he will try to do his best to keep gears running. He just asks for our support. Nobody can drive any community by himself.          @Amantes brilliant observation and thinking: Community Meetup 27022016, 12:45; @David:
On Community involvement; In which direction leader wants to go so we can push in his direction. I can't describe better than @Amantes on point.
On changes overtime; what new players and members expect and what changes bring onto them.
Nor any idea shall be shut off under my watch!
I witnessed a couple times where members of EU#3 actually expressed their concerns or applaud about changes. Either way those concerns were listened by members and expressed on forums (yeah please use forums in that matter, don't have long chick-chats while we are on the mission). I encourage everyone to use forums for expressing their opinions and concerns. Every opinion will have its own conclusion with explanation for it.
Second part of conversation (~44:00) was about timing in training and gamenights which continued on forum style and organization. Maybe the problem relies with the site. I'm not sure. People don't like to go on forums trying to find thread. Maybe a side-site can help it out with all future events which are sliding like food in sushi restaurant, or fixed ones which are “highlighted”¹. Which brings the question who will organize the timeline or make those sushi dishes? We love to eat it, but how many of us actually know how to make a good sushi?

Suggestion: Primary gamenights with mission well described and thought have ribbons. Maybe that's the way we can attract more people to gamenights if population is concern. Then, on forums we can have drop down list with all ribbons near our name (with name of the gamenight as well as organizator name) which all can see. That way we give credit for members who played it and especially for hard work of members organizing it.

I want to thank @Origins for recording this meetup.

    EU#3 Temple

For centuries people gather around to share their experiences. And I remember those great rides. EU#3 was my morning that became night. I sound like I'm worshipping these four symbols. Every time I've entered that temple I felt diversity of what I can accomplish, unlocking all my abilities to make great moments and memories.
But now, I won't feel at home. I know I'll struggle at the re-beginning. Peace of mind won't come with my skills, It will come with people surrounding me; fighting for same cause. I know I'll have someone to lift me up when I fall.
For all of us the new players, AW's EU#3 is the place where together, through effort we can accomplish everything. That is the feeling having a great supportive Community. Joke: No It's not group therapy.
I'm sad I can't talk much on gameplays take. I still have to catch up and justify Ambassador title which I was entitled to. I want to give all the support for members of Ahoy Community, the support I've had when stood the ground thinking I'm alone.

There were struggling times when people just don't visit EU#3 at all. I was really sad seeing people go playing something else or living their life. This weekend I'm surrounded by warmth seeing EU#3 TS channel all popped with players.

Now, let's go for another ride, shall we?

    Here's my plan re Gauntlet:

    1) Develop on Altis til it's essentially rock solid - it's almost there, there are a few things I want to finish, like the vehicle repair pads, and balance on missions. That happens with user input but from what I'm seeing everything is rolling fairly smoothly.  I altered Sarahni to give a bit of variety, but it's on 38 and not 38B, so a few things are not the same.
    2) Once Altis is locked down, copy over the content to the other Woodland maps (Stratis, Sarahni, Panthera, Chernarus).

Other admins are investigating the MODs we use to find the right balance for EU3, and also to address issues we have with current MODs - for example, TRYK vests have no armor protection, so they're not worth keeping.  Since the MFFA (more factions for Arma) MOD, which gave us our enemies in Fallujah & Zargabad, relies on TRYK, it will also go (Alganthe is not updating those factions), we want to bring CUP to the repo (which has a boat load of new weapons, gear and assets) and also an expanded Takistani faction that we can have access to.  Once the repo issues have been sorted out, and we are using CUP assets, I will update the Fallujah and Zargabad maps with the Takistani faction.

And by beginners i mean people that have never used any arma 3 mods again like me and/or its their first days in Arma 3.

I will try to provide some instructions on basic stuff that got me confused in the beginning.

So , the procedure to join and enjoy EU3 is :

    -Register in the forums.
-Activate the account in your email.

-Follow THIS GUIDE to download all the mods u need to play in EU3.

-Once you are done , close ts3 and arma 3.
-Set Ts3 and Arma 3 run as administrator.

-Open ts3 , Go to Settings->Plugin Options.Select ACRE2 and click settings.Max out the sound volume.
    -Close ts3.

    -Read the rules.
    -Read the rules Again.

-Read these to get a generic idea of how things work:
    http://www.ahoyworld.co.uk/topic/4846-acre-topic-thread/
    http://www.ahoyworld.co.uk/topic/4074-how-to-ace3-medic/

-Open Ts3 and Arma 3 (as admin).
-Join EU3 in a basic kit like Rifleman or Assistant rifleman.

Windows key + Control opens the interactions menu.
Use the earplugs when there is chopper noise.

    Control+Alt+Caps brings up the Radio.
On the top of your radio u will see the Antenna on the left, the radio channel button in the middle and the volume control on the right.
Use Left and Right mouse buttons to switch between channels and volume.
You should be on your squads channel by default.
If not , open up your map and zoom out.
You will see the channels for each squad marked there.

Use the Radio (Arma 3 VoN feature , CAPS LOCK) to communicate with your team.
Use the TS3 Button for Direct communication aka those who are nearby.
If i am not mistaken voice will fade out the more away you get from your mates.
Hills, trees, valleys etc will affect the Radio Signal and your Voice volume.
When people die or are out of hearing range, they get muted .

Keep in mind that  TS3 Push to Talk  button and Arma 3 one should be different.Arma 3 default key is CAPS LOCK.

Escape -> configure -> controls and on almost bottom right u will see an option saying "configure addons".
This is where your mods keybindings are located.

In the middle bottom of your screen u will  see a new interface.
Thats the ShackTac.There u can see your squad mates in relation to you.
Each circle represents a different distance.Look this out.
Oh and the one shown there with the diagonal line is your Squad Leader.

Thats all i can think for now.
At some point i will update it with more info on map reading etc.
Feel free to post more tips - instructions in the comments and i will update the post.

Edit 1: Added a few info about ACRE the Radio addon

Since the first init of the codebase of valiant I have done :

    60 commits during 106 days
Added: 20k lines of code( DAC and the way FSM is regarded in git subtracted roughly).
Removed: around 5k lines of code( DAC and the way FSM is regarded in git subtracted roughly).

Made some alterations in the way the FSMs act, fixed countless stray variables.
Added logging to all relevant states in the states off all mission currently in the framework to ease debugging.

There is currently 4 main missions and 2 side missions, more will be added but mission generating is on hold until my current
feature is completed and tested in a AW TC (coming soon).

Honestly a lot more work that I cant remember cause I probably suppressed cause headaches.

What im currently doing work in is a rewrite of the missions(completed) and other aspects of the mission to accompany
diffrent modsets(ref units etc) so that when it goes public outside of AW. Users\communities have a mission param to
select what modset they use. In the start this will be limited to RHS,CUP and Vanilla as those are the most mainstream IMO.

A Test Candidate will probably be tested on EU#3 in either this weekend or the next one. Ill see how much time I have to work on it tomorrow.

For now here are two pictures of the threats other than ambient you will face.

    Positioning will be fixed.

Plant1ing reacted to David in Player report form
It was recently suggested that a player report form be added to report players when admins aren't around. It can be found at the top of the site under "player tools" (which is also new and has quite a few useful links) and clicking "report player". You can also find it at www.ahoyworld.co.uk/pr and when I&A is updated you can find it by QR code at the base so you can do it on mobile without even tabbing out!

You don't need to provide evidence but reports without evidence can be open to doubt so if you can, please do!

Plant1ing got a reaction from mechE in How did you guys find out about AhoyWorld?
Arma3 is my first in ArmaWorld. I've bought the game and it always seemed difficult to control and I stayed away from Arma franchize. I entered the lobby and searched for lowest ping. EU#2 (Stratis back then) was the one. I joined. Fell in love with the game and community of players on EU#2. Everybody was helpful. We were like 10 players max on that island so I was really hooked with teamplay and wanted something on larger scale.
I came from Planetside2 (my outfit, couldn't hide my tears when I left them because of Arma3) where we were commanding 40 troops in outfit at friday nights. I wanted more. Joined EU#1 and immidiately went off because of some cowboys and all TKs on that server. For half of a month I was on JSOC servers and really enjoyed the organisation they were having.
Next thing I've done is register to AhoyWorld forums. Found out about EU#3. Saw the mods... After spending half of year on Skyrim and modding I've said to myself: "Nah I ain't modding anything anymore". Play the game and move on. But the flame inside me has burned my decision in dust and recalled all the immersive plays from Skyrim (Yes, I was blacksmith in Skyrim).

I really enjoyed the run till now on AhoyWorld servers.

Next paragraph:  EU#3 Day One: The recruitment

I've Installed the mods for EU#3, joined the server. I've never felt so lost. Heard in background: "We have new recruit here, .... your turn now H2K". He didn't want to explain me anything so CMD (I think it was @leo) approached me: "Welcome to AhoyWorld EU#3 server, have you read the rules" on which I responded: "I have read three times the ones on TS3 channel room while I was downloading mods". CMD replied: "Enought for me, suit up and we need to move, you have 10 seconds." Because I was so lost1x I've entered in arsenal and just picked a m16, without any optics, 3 default mags and one in the rifle. CMD dedicated Nicolai so I can stick to him and learn all the basics on the move. The map was Fallujah. We were moving in convoy with two MRAPs. I was so lost2x I didn't even know where I am, how to use compass, what am I doing here or anything. While middle in the streets of Fallujah I've just heard someone yelling with furious voice from MRAP: "Disembark now!" While we went off gunner on .50 cal has started shooting. Suddenly I haven't heard anything, just pitching sound in my ears. Was so disoriented. The light from flashing .50 cal went even bigger. I looked back and MRAP was in flames. Completely destroyed. After 30 sec standing in the corner behind palm tree, my ears have started picking up soundstage from environment again. I've picked up the name leo laying on the ground, not moving. Nicolai wasn't nowhere on sight. Medic (I think it was @ShadowKnight but maybe also one guy who isn't on EU#3 anymore) approached me and started yelling : "Plant1ng are you okay?". I could barely hear him so I instinctivly yelled on my mic that I'm okay just couldn't hear clearly. After that all went blurry. I heard in background with all the noise around me : "CMD is down we need instructions." Still unaware where I am I've decided to cross the street. Fell down the ground. Next thing, someone is dragging me. All I could see from that eliptical shape tunnel was probably the same palm tree in the corner where I was previously moving from. Heard familiar voice in background who asked me earlier if I was okay. Now he's speaking in more scarried and hurried voice I've ever hear: "Oh my God Plant1ng. You are so f*cked up. I don't know if you will make it. Hang on there pal." Next seconds the camera moved and I could see everything but frozen like a picture.
Respawned at base. Disconnected from the server. I've realized that my mouth is still opened.

Yes I vividly remember my first day on EU#3

Joke: Now all I'm seeing is @Minipily going around bodies with Desert Eagle to make sure they are actually dead. . Maybe because of our absence on EU#3, they've managed to get their hands on supplies and better armament? It's all about story and immersive plays. No wonder server greets you with "Play your role."

Idea: If Takistaniis manage to smuggle a cargo trucks (undisclosed mission) they can have better equipment on the next AO.

HI, I made an EU #3 Basic tutorial, watch this space as more tutorials, especially leadership / Role specific ones to follow.

I will also add, in brief here for new players, log onto Teamspeak, and then join the server, the TFAR Plugin will move you into the EU #3 channel as you load in. If your in game and not in the right channel, in TS go to settings - plugins and then re-load all.

At this moment in time (as well as helping VERY new players) I'm looking for recommendation's on the format, quality and help from anyone and everyone on writing scripts, and recording footage for role specific stuff, especially roles I'm really not proficient in myself (Marksman, MAT, Hammer etc).

Thanks in advance for any and all help,

Any injury that would require you to RTB is, in my opinion, beyond the scope of what Arma and Arma mods should aim for. What'd be next, paperwork after an op?

If it can't be fixed in the field, you may as well be dead. Which is also why most games just kill you in those situations.

I have no doubt most of you will be painfully aware that I consider most EU#3 players in need of a gear trim-down. This forces them to. I embrace it with open arms

Plant1ing reacted to Ryko in Fatigue
I dunno.  50kg = 110lbs (which is a MAT loadout I have, essentially all the trimmings plus 2 HEAT and 2 HE rockets as reloads).  The new system rewards the regular trot but punishes the sprint on excess weight: 45kg is the upper limit, where you immediately become fatigued and can't sprint.  I appreciate what they're trying to do but I think it shouldn't be a linear scale, rather an exponential one; there is always some capacity to sprint, even for a short distance while carrying a heavy load.

What I do like about this is that it forces MAT (and everyone, for that matter) to consider their loads more carefully: the penalty on stamina is much more prominent.  I think if it were somewhere between the 1.52 model and the 1.54 model, I'd be happy.  I'd like to be able to sprint for more than 10 seconds with a 38 kg loadout.

Or how about I put it this way: what should the sprint model be for a 110-lb weight?  Carrying a 110-lb load around in a walking, long-term endurance situation is one thing, but consistently running with it?  That is quite another.  The game assumes a fit soldier, but not a super-soldier.

    @TheToxicPixels
Just wrote a 2 sided reply but since using mobile it decided to all just vanish so im keeping it short and powerful:
Arsenal: Alright, I get it, I'm that guy who always wants to have it "serious", especially in game nights. But comon folks, its game night! You don't want 30 minutes of ;"ooh, that looks fa.. Ooh but that's nice too!" standard Loadouts or heavily filtered arsenals that are made to support the kind of mission you are hosting are the sh*t since people who respawn can immediately rejoin witj the new wave, and people who jip will play their selected role.
First/third? When I hosted my gamenight couple weeks ago I fell under peer pressure because of folks saying "I'm quiting if theres no 3rd". What I should have done is make sure that was set in stone in the forum post, therefore giving people the chance to either sign up and attend or simply don't attend.
Lock the server? Yes, first hour at least. Give the briefing and first insertion some time, and met individual teams build... Something of a strategy.
Last, but not least I recommend you to learn Zeus. Apart from your full focus and not being able to play yourself on the ground, it will greatly improve all game nights with a big a*s flavor of random.
You need so little apart from a standard stripped "gauntlett-like" mission to make it zeus ready. It takes so less time to create that you could even take suggestions at the start of the op. If you like, i can send you some of my Zeus perspective videos on yt via a pm.
Oh and if you want help just hit me up brah i might be the guy to help you out.
(that wasn't very short, no potato either sorry!)

Looks like Minipily is echoing me about 100%, so I'll keep it short.

Only thing I've seen that I felt could be better, is ensuring that speciality roles are filled with people who are up to task.

I quite like it when there's competent pilots around, as that means a rare opportunity for me to do something other than flying, but sadly I have seen a few pilots sign up for a 1st Person only session who, in my ever so humble opinion, might need some more practice flying without the landing assistance of the 3rd person camera.

Other than that, it looks to me like people are taking it seriously, so that's good. It's nice to get some quiet in the helicopter on landing once in a while

I'm already non stop on Ahoy-servers... I was thinking about purchasing AAA game. Now when I think about this I'm better of buying life support unit.
And finally, EU#3 will arise again muhahaha! Chris Frankenstein.

Too much hype? No, there's never too much hype on AW! -We even celebrate Pilot Slot Open with hype on EU#1

Chris if this become to be an astonishing achievement, we should name F.O.B. after your name.

    Introducing: AW_Valiant

So what is this Valiant you speak of ?

Valiant is the natural "Evolution" of Gauntlet as in a lot of stuff could be done
better in gauntlet coding and performance wise in the back-end and instead of
just rehashing and doing stuff to Gauntlet code i decided to just start fresh.

This resulted in a back-end that is in 90% of the cases hassle free to port to a
map as it doesn't rely on preplaced markers etc for missions spawns as it now uses
functions to find different areas etc.

Hopefully this "start from scratch" approach has worked out some
    of the quirks Gauntlet had.

It also is alot more modular in terms of settings when you start the mission,
arsenal, spectator etc. are all definable in mission params in the role select lobby.

Okay... cool, so is there anything new ?

Yes! Theres is now side missions running alongside the main missions, there is emplacements
of various kinds(in this alpha it will only be running AAA emplacements).
And im also looking into some other stuff that is still TBA.

Sweet so what should I do ?

I'm stress testing the mission for 2X players this coming date: 13-11-2015 @ 1900GMT
and I need you to put you'r name in this FORM
The first 2X players that sign up is going to get to play and will be briefed about
different aspects before we step off

I hope to see a good turnout for this small stress test of Valiant.

Plant1ing reacted to Ryko in Corazol (TvT map)
    Hi folks!

Thanks to a bunch of people who helped me test a map I'm working on - Corazol.  Here's footage I shot from Zeus perspective today:

The premise is that a border town in Sahrani needs to be occupied: Russian and US tank platoons move in to capture it.  It's a Sector Control map, with three sectors in the town to occupy.  The US have four M1A1 tanks, two M2A3 TUSK, and a command M1025; the Russians have four T90 tanks, two BMP-3, and a command GAZ.  Both teams have two minutes to set up, and then there's a twenty minute time limit.

I'll be working on this a bit more this week, with the hope that perhaps one night we could run it as a game night: I think it would be awesome to run this with as many folks as possible!
