  1. Hey guys, Been using this tool for a few years now and recently showed it to a friend who reminded me how awesome it was, and that not too many people are aware it exists. (May be a little late with this, but if you're like me and always looking for some local co-op games to play with friends or your SO, still pretty relevant.) Anyway, it is a tool that some guy started a couple years ago on the Borderlands forums after being frustrated with the fact that PC versions of many games do not get local co-op like their console counterparts. It allows up to four players with supported games, and you can split the screens or go fullscreen on multiple monitors or TVs in basically any combo. He started out with compatibility for the BL series, and according to his posts in the last year, he's still working on adding games. The site claims support for the following in beta v1.5: - Borderlands - Borderlands 2 - Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel - Left 4 Dead (although there is native support also if you use the dev console) - Left 4 Dead 2 ("" iirc) - Resident Evil 5 - Portal 2 From the author: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ My Checklist (so you guys can see what I'm doing) - DPI scaling - Borderlands not finding server - Switch audio output -> games don't seem to have a default option and Windows doesn't help us on that regard Games - Aliens: Colonial Marines - CoD: World at War - CoD: Advanced Warfare - Black Ops 2: Zombies - Halo ( actually did it, but it's buggy as hell. Will need some fixes) - Halo 2 (GFWL blocks us in) - Dead Space 3 - Borderlands 1 - Black Ops 2 - Zombies (actually pretty close to working) - Dead Island - Saints Row 3 - Goldeneye Mod for Half Life 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I have personally only used it to play the Borderlands series and L4D1, so I cannot speak to how well it does the others. This tool is absolutely incredible if you're tired of frame drops and sucky anti-aliasing you get on the console versions' co-op. Here's a picture from a while back before I moved and got a couple TVs to replace my crap monitors for this kind of stuff: Check out these links for downloads and instructions: https://steamcommunity.com/app/49520/discussions/0/864977025916708574/ http://splitplaypc.codeplex.com/ Looks like he's making the switch from CodePlex to GitHub, but he has more info on the CodePlex site.
  2. Yeah seems to be a pretty reasonable consensus on the ground for it being more trouble than it's worth. Can't wait to get it running in Elite: Dangerous as well! Decided in the end to go the DIY route because of my stubbornness haha. I think I'm going to put a how-to post together soon once I get everything completed: what to buy from where, circuit design instructions, and how to make a good-quality clip with household tools and cheap raw material from the hardware store or online. Tried to set some rules on myself since I have access to manufacturing stuff the average guy wanting to do this may not have (3D printer and mill) so it doesn't turn people away from making their own. Pretty much everything you need to know can be found on other sites, but kind of spread out over lots of different forums/threads.
  3. https://youtu.be/-jO1EOhGkY0?t=304 ...sorry again. A burlap shame hood has been added standard to all my loadouts
  4. Agreed on the objectives, would be a good time if it was easy to implement, via Zeus or otherwise. I like the idea of an 11 v 11 match... - 2 fireteams + SL, good amount of fighting happens without it becoming overwhelming to command (although 20v20 sounds epic!) - allows more people to play per round, so less waiting Although I concede that both of the above are functions of playable area size and layout. Smaller area could mean quick 5v5 CQB rounds within a compound or something. Also, wouldn't have to rely on people wanting to play the SL role.
  5. KF2 is a blast... been killing (ha) time with that and Elite: Dangerous until the parts I need for my DIY head tracker come in for some more ArmA fun. Support + AA12 FTW. Might take you up on that offer if I can manage to get away from the immense gravity pulling me into E:D bounty hunting.
  6. Good to know--I saw that removing that could be sketchy, but as cheap as they are I won't worry too much! Thanks for the link, Stone; this thread is going to be a great reference to get started!
  7. Man, great to see there are good DIY options out there... with webcams being so cheap these days (PS3 Eye cameras for 8USD... wow) and with working freeware, it would be worth a shot to test it out for close to nothing before spending a ton of money. Even if I end up not liking the homebrew solution, I'm sure I could come up with something cool to use it for with a little Arduino. Would be a serious upgrade to my (now dismantled) bluetooth controlled, airsoft-armed RC car. Imagine attack helicopter helmet aiming from a PC... so awesome. Eye strain could be an issue, however--I find myself getting nauseated by games more than I used to, but that could honestly be due to bad FOV we keep seeing in some PC ports. Smiley, I wonder if offsetting the camera to the right and re-calibrating would prevent your face from blocking it as a quick fix? Don't want to throw out dumb suggestions w/o any experience, but a thought. Excited to get going on this, though... watching this guy lean out of his Hummingbird and look down at the ground in the ArmA 3 video, absolute win. http://www.delanengineering.com/head-tracking/ Wish I had this stuff as a kid playing Jane's WWII Fighters!
  8. Thanks for the response, guys, hadn't heard of the Delanclip until you mentioned it... love the stainless steel clip design! Good to know the pro-clip doesn't break as easily as some claim with a little care. The notes on the Delanclip call for low-light conditions for optimal performance--have you noticed any difference, Smiley? And yeah, initially I decided it wasn't necessary for infantry, but I find myself wanting to not rely so much on the Alt key to check my rear in small PvP firefights. Things happen so fast... Dyslexci's videos using TrackIR look promising for what I am looking for, but I definitely see where it would take some getting used to. I already have all my bad habits ingrained!
  9. Hi all, Thinking about gifting myself a TrackIR soon over the holidays, and was curious if anyone was running one consistently for ArmA 3. My main game is as an FTL/infantryman on Ahoy servers and elsewhere (unfortunately not yet on EU#3... tried for a few minutes over the weekend, but have a few bugs to iron out w/TFAR), but lately the rush of stealing a chopper on the Exile server I frequent has gotten me a bit more into flying. How do you like using it as a guy on the ground, or as a pilot? Do you play with a single monitor, or 3 in surround? Hoping to cut down on combat reaction time and checking flanks for other players in Exile, and help with the constant head-spinning it takes to lead a 6-man team successfully. Also, I've heard there can be trouble with the pro-clippy guy that you need to attach it to a headset--if these tend to break, I would love to volunteer my modeling skilz and 3D printer time to make some up for people at cost sometime in the future. I've been looking for a way to help out here where I can since the community relies so much on volunteers. Anyway, thanks for your input! mech
  10. +1 to ToxicPixels for the IED defuse mission... would be cool to have maybe 3 or so placed on main roads around a larger city, with an AA base nearby overlooking the city as a secondary objective to clear (placed to encourage ground vehicle transport to AO). Then maybe a defend once completed?
  11. Most liked/played: 1. XCOM (I like to drink coffee in the morning... ArmA does not allow me to get away from my desk enough on Saturday morning!) 2. ArmA 3 3. 7 Days to Die 4. Battlefield 4 (Gasp! Heretic!) 5. (apparently, according to unintentionally absurd logged hours...) Civ 5 6. Insurgency 7. Metro Redux (completed for the umpteenth time) 8. Borderlands 2 - Local co-op 9. Deus Ex Director's Cut Disliked: 1. Civ: Beyond Earth without DLC 2. ME: Shadow of Mordor 3. ARK: Survival Evolved Found them to be alright games, but did not live up to my expectations, unfortunately. I am a huge LOtR fan, but it felt too much like a Batman game. Wishlist: 1. XCOM 2 2. Fallout 4 3. SW Battlefront (nice casual game to play w/friends... don't see myself paying full price) 4. ArmA 3 DLC... once they go on sale, so I can finally rid myself of those stupid overlays and disconnect delays after riding in a chopper!

    New US Server!

Any updates on how the US server is doing? I work a lot and do not get to play as much as I'd like during the week, but haven't seen it populated much over the last week unfortunately. I personally hope it takes off a little better so I can finally play with some decent ping! The AW EU servers keep a decently-sized/organized player base when peak hours reach my time zone, but a lot of others turn into the Wild West when all the EU mods go to sleep...
  13. Thanks, Storm! Read through those and they were pretty helpful--I think until I experience it for myself, I'll leave the voodoo healing to the pros while I stick to getting shot... they have to have something to do, right? Also, was not aware that HuntIR existed until reading that post. Pretty awesome tool for SLs. You guys ever consider allowing medics access to the grenade purely for 3GL smoke rounds? I imagine the difficult part about that would be enforcement, however responsible a medic is supposed to be. Got my mods ready to go for EU3 last night, hoping to have time to attend this Sunday's game night. Don't want to reserve a spot just yet until I know for a fact I can carve out a good 4 hours--though being at GMT -5:00 definitely helps my situation. I can get my ArmA in early on my favorite EU servers on the weekends and not be in (too much) trouble with that woman I keep around. Only downside is the Atlantic Ocean ensures my ping never drops below 100ms when I play with you guys... Sad news about the exile server, but I guess that just means I won't have to start fresh acquiring equipment again. Just had my ATV stolen/destroyed the other day though haha. RIP Red.
  14. Yep, thanks Rave! Started working on getting those mods together last week (I prefer the old fashioned manual way with the new launcher), and just have to fix a couple little things before I'm ready to go on EU 3. I was really starting to miss JSRS and ShackTac since they were not implemented on a couple other servers I was playing... excited to see those on the list. Next up is to educate myself on the medic and radio systems you guys use on 3. Other than the tactical EU3, I've seen some talk about Exile on EU5 and hope to see some of you guys there as well! Played a little so far on one of the ADK Exile servers, but would definitely consider myself an Exile noob in comparison to milsim gameplay.
