I'm sure I forgot a lot of people, and a lot of fantastic people and situations that just don't fit into one of these categories

20210921230204_1.thumb.jpg.bb5ceede5d27377d77c35e31635c20df.jpgHad a super weird FOB spawn today.

I mean, I get that our frontline is a bit weird right now, but thats pretty far off :P

It's the first time i've seen it so we might not want to spend a lot of energy on it, but at least its logged somewhere now.

  3. I've been thinking about the guerillas and how they often seem to attack places at bad times when they are not really wanted or needed.

Would it be possible to make an option so that for instance the SL or maybe platco could call them in as a favor from the guerillas?

Maybe it could come at the cost of some resources and intel, with an option to choose a stronger guerilla group for more resources?

Like three options, one with only infantry that cost some ammo, one with a tekkie or whatever in addition that costs more ammo, some fuel and supplies and one that is bigger that cost even more.

It would also be cool if we could choose what direction they would come from.

So for instance, you could get a list of enemy objectives sorted by distance that you can choose to attack.

You would then choose from a list of the nearest friendly civilan objectives that decides the distance.

You then have a third option for the different sizes along with their respective cost, kinda like the build menu.

    What do you think?

I also don't know how feasible it would be to code this, but that's not my problem :P

(I mean, in fairness most of the code is already there, its just a manual trigger and some different compositions to spawn in, while being able to pick the spawn location, right?)

  4. Hello.
I don't want to take anything away from Bravo's experience, but I feel like the debrief went a little lopsided, so I wanted to share charlies version of last nights events.

I 100% agree that getting our stuff together in the start took far too long, not sure what happened, but it happened.
The flight out was also way too long, but I can understand why one would want to have the carrier far out as the AI sometimes freaks out over nothing if it gets too close.

    Spoiler

We were in the second group of parajumpers.
The callouts in the aircraft for when to jump was spot on and we all deployed our chutes pretty much at the same time, landing precisely on the DZ marker with our engineer screaming "THAT LOOKED SO F***ING COOL!" on the radio.

We quickly regrouped with delta and sorted out some comms issues, before continuing towards the radar station.
This probably took some time for several squads as there was also some chatter in side chat about radio encryption issues.

Anyways, we got eyes on some patrols and sneakily moved our way up towards the radar dome while Delta with their sniper team moved into a position to cover the area.

With the cover of darkness, we waited at a ridgeline for Delta to get ready and then started moving up to the dome.

After waiting a bit to coordinate with the squad taking the radio tower, we sneakily approached the radar dome with our cover still intact and planted the charges.

When our engineer returned to us, we had to wait for a bit for the radio tower team to get ready.
We started to fall back as there was no reason to sit next to the tower, but still we waited for the call to blow it up.
After a little while we started hearing shots go off to the east(?) towards the radio tower and we had to keep low in order to not be spotted by the guard who was now actively scouting the area with binos.

After some more falling back, we finally got the order to blow up the radar.
    Click!
    Click!
    Click!
TL: WHERE IS THE KABOOM? THERE IS SUPPOSED TO BE AN EARTH SHATTERING KABOOM!
Engineer: Uhm *Runs off towards the radar dome*
I decided to cover him so I go sprinting after him while our teamleader and medic hangs back.

When we finally get close enough to blow the charges, our cover is quickly blown and the engineer and I start taking close engagements from the patrol filtering over the hills.
We cover each other effectively while falling back to our TL and medic who is now being harassed by an angry BTR looking thing.
We have no AT capability (Apart from our engineer chucking demo blocks maybe).

Luckily phalanx is able to take it out fairly quickly without hitting any friendly forces although the BTR is literally on top of our guys.

We then regroup with Delta again and get ready to assault the nearby town.
After some fiddling and planning, we get spotted by the machine gunner at the entrance.
Luckily we manage to get him before he could do too much damage, and we started moving in to the compound.

The fighting is chaotic and we are being engaged from all sides, but we push through to some harder cover and start to clear the nearby buildings.
Both the TL and myself get wounded in the firefight, but its luckily not enough to keep us down for too long, as our medic found our engineer unconscious on the ground at the intersection a few meters back.

Trying to get the engineer back to life, our medic takes heavy fire and my TL and I move in to relieve some pressure.
Still there are enemies filtering in from all sides, but we clear enough of a space to get the engineer up and we resume building clearing.
After a little while, alpha is able to relieve pressure off our backs and we can focus fully on the task at hand.

However, we are starting to run critically low on ammo!

We get told that there might be unarmed scientists that we might need to capture, and that we need to be wearing our CBRN masks.

We don our masks, and keep clearing buildings.
Having forgotten all about the scientists, I breach a room and pop two guys without thinking.
Thankfully they were not the civilians.
After repacking my mags, I realize I am down to half a magazine, that's it.

Unfortunately the two guys wake back up and knock me out before I can really do much.
Luckily my team is quick to return fire and patch me back up again.

After a somewhat prolonged time on the ground being worked on by our medic (Who lost his surgical kit in an unfortunate event before deploying), I am back in action and we re-balance some mags between the team members.

All of us are now down to 1-3 mags and we are starting to worry that we might have to loot AK's off the ground.

Delta (?) secures the scientists and we are tasked with bringing them out to the transport chopper that we hope have our supplies aswell (Spoiler alert, it doesn't).

We get the scientists out of there, but we then wait around for a bit too long as the resupply chopper is having some technical issues and we are told that it will be a few minutes, then a few more etc.

While waiting we steal procure a vehicle so we can get to the last objective quicker.

After a couple more minutes than a few, the supplies magically appear at the entrance (Thanks :))
We rearm and quickly drive out to the last objective where Delta is already on overwatch.

We get tasked with searching the choppers, but find nothing.
All the while, the cease fire seems quite fragile as everyone is aiming at us while we approach.

After searching the third chopper outside town, we are asked to blow up the choppers, but think better of it as blowing up their choppers during a cease fire seems ill advised.
So we are tasked with blowing up their buildings instead...

We go in, but realize we only have two demo charges left for three buildings.
About two seconds after the radio call, phalanx opens fire with us still inside, scaring the crap out of us, but luckily no one got injured.

All in all the op was really enjoyable from Charlies side :)

While the thermal goggles made us quite OP, I enjoyed playing the spec-ops sneaky beaky style for a change.

Anyways, I am sad that Bravo did not get more action.

I've been there myself, sitting on a hill with nothing to do for way too long and I know it sucks.

That being said, I think we all have a responsibility to inform the chain of command, and if that does not work, maybe even ping zeus.

Sometimes there are tactical reasons why one has to sit on a hill doing nothing, while other times, there is simply an oversight or a gap in the plan that could be filled if the right people knew about it.

  5. I would like to fly the F-16 and the F/A-18C, but they would both have to be at a 50% sale before its even remotely sensibly priced.

There's no way i'm paying 2x triple A game pricing for two airplanes.

  6. Hello everyone.
I am not entirely sure if this is the correct place to put this, as its not a mod request per se, but I have been watching Dslyecxi's videos lately and the AAR reports are absolutely fantastic.

You can see an example here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CC9gmF2re0

I've been searching around, but it seems that shacktacs's AAR mod is private and not accessible to the public.

Would it be possible to create a similar system for AWE? I realize that its probably not doable for Frontlines/I&A (although it would be absolutely awesome), but I think we could learn a lot from our gamenights by using it.

Even if we dont get the fancy 3D graphics, having a tool like this: https://github.com/OCAP2/OCAP might do the job almost as well, although we lose altitude info from air assets.

OCAP2 also supports a website, so it can be publicly accessible.

Anyways, I know we have some fantastic dev's, so you guys would have to comment on the feasability of this.

It would also have to be tested for performance impact and stability of course.

    What does everyone think?

Would you be interested in sitting down and having a look back at what happened?

I think at least for me, when squad leading, it would be a fantastic tool for learning.

  7. I don't think I can make it unfortunately.

Could it be recorded? Or at least make sure we have the minutes made available here?

Also, could we have this in the event calendar along with all the other scheduled stuff?

I'd like to add one more thing to the agenda: what is the future plans for AWE, not just frontlines but in general.

  8. Yeah, it seemed to happen around trenches aswell, making me wonder if trees and trenches are counted as buildings.

That being said, i've not had this issue before so something seems to have changed.

Whether its TFAR updating and actually modeling interference from building, or if its server config after some gamenight is unknown.

Could also be the mission, but it seems unlikely

  9. Hey guys.
On todays gamenight, we had quite a bit of TFAR issues, especially around how long the radios reached.

I know @Bomer had some issues, where he could receive the other party, but was not able to transmit back to them.

I also experienced some weird range issues later, ref video: https://youtu.be/SCruQ4gr0E4

I'm not quite sure what to make of it, or if its something we can fix on our end, but I felt it needed to be registered anyways.

  10. Can we have a look at the fob hunt spawning?

The last couple of times i've had to try to spawn it probably 20 or 30 times before it found a suitable location

It might be because our frontline is a bit weird right now, but its been a bit annoying to deal with. (That being said, after enough tries, it has always worked so far)

  12. 29/07/20

    Dear brother Dmitry.

I hope you are doing well, I miss you very much here on the front. How are things back in the motherland?

Today was an interesting day, we were tasked with providing overwatch for Alpha during an assault.

The day started like any other in the army, spending more than an hour just to get to the AO.

Once there we dug a ton of trenches, my back hurt like hell but we kept digging until some unknown voice chimed in over the radio on channel 51.

<<That's probably enough trenches guys, server is struggling with FPS as is and it will be even worse once Alpha starts their assault>>

I had no idea who it was, or what he was talking about, but I asked the others and they heard the same message, so we figured we should take it as an omen and stop digging.

I’m not complaining, by this time my hands were blistered as well, but the medic just said “toughen up buttercup”.

After a lot of waiting, we had a small group of insurgents flanking us from our left side, we delivered a decisive counterattack and quickly dealt with them, but we lost a comrade in the initial contact. While mourning the loss of our comrade, Alpha requested assistance.

We quickly dumped some static weapons into the truck and made our way over to the hill next to the village to provide fire support.

After digging some trenches, despite what the weird voice said, we had a good overwatch going, but the situation was pretty much handled by then.

There was a lone straggling insurgent flanking alpha and we had to take quick decisive action, no time to call it in.

We managed to kill the insurgent, but it seems we angered alpha and they fired back at us.

Fortunately, alpha are not very good shots, so we took no casualties.

While we were helping alpha, another group of insurgents were attacking our main trenches from the right side. We loaded the gun back up and drove back to help.

    Unfortunately we were too late.

Coming back into the trenches, we returned fire on the insurgents and managed to push them back, but we lost more comrades, including our SL.

While trying to deal with the last of the attack, one of them managed to get me, I am not sure what happened, but I woke back up in our operations base, eager to return to the battle.

Vortex picked up myself and some re-inserts for alpha and flew us back into the field.

Unfortunately the area was still really hot and we have to choose an LZ quite far away from my group.
I radio bravo squad lead and tell him I am on my way, but far out.

While walking back to bravo, I came across a perturbed tank crew. It was kinda hard to hear what they were saying over the noise of the tank, but it seemed they were having some problems with a guy with an RPG.

As I crested the hill, I couldn’t see what they were complaining about, so I scanned the hillside but no one presented themselves.
As I turned back around to face the tank, I heard a bunch of yelling.

I turned around to see the RPG guy lining up a shot!

I managed to quickly dispose of him and his teammate, but they had another friend.

The insurgent managed to hit me, but the great russian body armor saved my hind, and I took cover behind the hill and patched myself up before dispatching the last insurgent.

The tank crew seemed very relieved and even let me steal an ammo box from their tank.

I wonder how they will explain the missing ammo to platco, but I thanked them and started the long trek back to my squad.

Once back, i got tasked with building even more trenches, blyat!

While we were setting up, reaper did a gun run which seemed to piss off the entire HQ we were attacking (Who would have thunk). Luckily our mortar team was quick on the trigger and managed to put a salvo right into the middle of the HQ, destroying an MBT and most of the guard towers.

The enemies fired mortars back at us, but our crew managed to not only kill the enemy mortar team, but to save one of the mortars for ourselves!

I charged into the HQ alongside my comrades in red team!

We had a quick and decisive victory, but lost some people in the battle. We managed to stabilize an unconscious comrade and placed him in a barrack for the medic to fix properly.

Once the medic arrived, he got intercepted by someone else who wanted a doctor and he decided to help that one first.
I wondered about the decision to prioritize someone who was walking, over an unconscious casualty, but the medic is the boss so I let him do his job.

You should have seen the inside of this HQ, it was a maze, so once the medic was done with the first guy, I helped him find the casualty and he managed to save his life while we were repelling a counter attack.

By this time I only had one box left, the one I stole from the tank crew. I put it to good use, taking down some enemies that were attacking my SL.

I asked where our supply truck had gone, but apparently no one knew, it did not blow up or anything, just disappeared.

I suspect alpha was still pissed and stole it, but I can't be sure.

We tried asking the voice in the radio, but either he did not hear us or could not help us.
I requested more PKP ammo from my SL, but we did not have time to wait for vortex.

So off I went, looting shitty AK’s with ironshites.

I definitely felt my aim was off, but I did good work even without our fancy new optics.

Anyways brother, I always drone on for too long in these letters, sorry for that.

Please, take care of mother and say hello to the family from me.

    Always yours

    Igor
