    Do note that there are Arma maps that for example have a flipped vertical Axis, i.e. (000,000) is the top left instead of the bottom left (e.g. Sahrani once you zoom into 6-figures). In these cases you obviously have to change the vertical axis orientation of your 8-figures as well, as they're refining the overall map-gridding and are therefore dependant on its orientation. The Numpad or Keypad however stay the same, as they're not actually dependant on the overal gridding, since they're based on your keyboard or telephone and that looks the same no matter what map you're looking at.

    This poll runs for 1 week! Please take a few moments to find out what DLC you have and vote here. Pick every option that applies.
     
    We have traditionally avoided missions that will require DLC to be purchased. There's been a few things that need DLC, but primarily we've used mods on AWE.
     
    Some of the DLC content is very nice, and we want to know how many people have it! This will help mission makers get an idea of whether it's worth making a mission that will use DLC content (mostly thinking maps, but who knows!)

    This is a guide meant for people who have never or only a few times played on our I&A servers.  At the bottom you can find 3 links to videos created by members of our community on how to join the server.  All 3 are a bit over 40 minutes but all certainly worth watching if you're new.
     
    1. Joining the server
    Let's me quickly just explain how one joins one of our server.
    This can be done in several different ways.  The easiest and fastest is direct connect but you can also look in the server-browser and even in the recent tab if you have recently played on our servers.

    To use direct connect you will need the IP and port of the server.  For our public servers these can be found here.  You'll have to put this information into the IP and port field like this:

     
    If you prefer to use the server browser you can use the following settings:

    You can change the max ping it's not really that important.  You can also hide full servers and passworded servers if you're trying to join one of our public I&A servers.
    And these servers will show up:


    If you use the recent tab, just sort them alphabetically and look for the ahoyworld ones.
     
    2. Picking a slot
    Right after you entered the server you will see this screen, also known as the lobby:


    On the right hand side you see all the connected players.  At the top some information about the server, the mission, ...  And on the left hand side you will find the slots you can connect to, highlighted in the screenshot below.

    To get in the server simply select a slot by pressing on it with the left mouse button and press OK.  Depending on which slot you select you'll have a different role in the game.
    We have slots ranging from rifleman to medic to pilot to UAV operator.  The first roles you'll come across are infantry roles, alpha squad to echo squad, more towards the bottom you'll find roles like snipers, recon squad, pilots, UAV operator, ...
     
    3. Joining and spawning
    After you pressed OK, arma will start downloading the mission file.  Depending on your internet connection this might go rather quickly or can take quite some time.  After arma has loaded the mission file and synced some other data you will get the respawn-screen, which for altis I&A looks like this:


    To spawn in select a spawn location from the list on the left hand side and when the timer has gone down to 0 a 'respawn' button will appear.
     
    4. Getting your gear sorted
    After you spawn in you will have the default gear, you can change this gear at any of our arsenals.  In main base arsenals can be found on officers standing around in base.  Here are some examples:

    At FOBs (Forward Operating Base) arsenals are located on the big crates that look like this:

    The arsenal on the server is partially restricted.  Things like RPGs, explosives, ... can be taken by anyone.  But sniper-rifles are only available for snipers, marksman-rifles only for marksmen, Titan launchers only for AT specialists, ...
    Things like CSAT and AAF uniforms are not available for anyone to avoid friends and foes from looking the exact same.
     
    Knowing this you can start making your kit.  Feel free to personalize it as much as you want, just be sure not to stand at the arsenal for hours.  After you made your kit in the arsenal you can save it.  This can be done by pressing save at the bottom of the screen and then enter the name and press save again.  

    If you do this you can load that exact loadout from the arsenal next time you join our, or any other, server and even in singleplayer.
     
    After you get your gear sorted I suggest quicksaving your loadout so you respawn with it.  This can be done by using the scroll-option on any arsenal.
     
    5. What is there to do?
    In I&A there are 3 types of objectives and a special one that spawns.
    The primary that will always be active is the main AO.  On the map they look like this:

    The goal in this objective is to push back hostile forces out of that area.  An AO also has a sub-objective.  The current sub-objectives are: a radio-tower, a cache and an HQ building.  They all have to be take out in their own way before that AO can complete and the next one can spawn.  The cache and the radio-tower can simply be destroyed to complete the objective for the HQ building you've got to kill the officer in it.

    A second type of mission are the side missions which look like this on the map:

    There are several side missions, too many for me to list here.  But they all come with a description that will tell you what you have to do to complete that specific side mission.  Upon successful completion of a side mission a reward will spawn at base.  These rewards can range from a repair off-road to a main battle tank to attack helos and even jets.  Obviously the chances of a jet spawning are significantly lower than the chance of a car/MRAP/IFV spawning.  (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle and infantry fighting vehicle).

    The third type of objective that can spawn are priority objectives.  On the map they look like this:

    Priority objectives should always be take out as soon as possible, they should be your priority.  This because priority objective will have significant impact on how easy the other missions are. 
    We currently have 3 priority objectives: artillery, anti-air and factory.  
    If prio artillery spawn hostile forces will have set up some artillery and start shelling friendly positions they know about.
    If prio AA spawns any friendly air asset within 5 km will be engaged by it and in 95% of cases be taken down.
    If prio factory spawns the AO will be reinforces periodically with hostile forces.
    Each one has it's own way of being taken out.  The AA and arty can be take out simply by destroying the AA and arty assets.  To take out the factory you first have to kill the viper engineer in the factory before you can destroy the factory building.  Only when the factory building is taken out reinforcements will stop spawning.
     
    The final type of mission that might be active is a zeus mission.  There is no set time when one of these will be active.  There will have to be someone with zeus-access (a modded moderator or a spartan) who's willing to do one.
    As they are made on the spot this guide can't tell you what they'll look like or what you'll have to do.  If you don't know what to do at/for that zeus mission, just ask in sidechat.

    6. How do i get to where to fighting is?
    There are several different ways to get there.  First off you've got to see how far the objective is from where you are.  In general if the objective is no more than 1.5km away it'll be fastest to walk/jog/run there.
    If walking isn't an option you have 2 more options: via ground and via air.

    We have helicopter pilots that will fly you around.  How this is done depends on a few things, here are a few examples of what to do in the described situation, they don't cover everything tho.  If you, after reading these situations, don't know how to get an airlift just hop on the server and ask in sidechat.
    If you're out in the field and need evac or to be flown to the next objective just mark your location on the map with a marker and name it evac.  Then type in sidechat something in the lines of 'vortex i need evac at old side mission'.  If you're at an old AO you'll obviously use old AO instead of old side.
     
    If you're at base it's just a little bit more complicated.  First look on the map to see whether or not we have any FOBs.
    If we don't just go to the pickup-pad at base and await arrival of a heli.  The pickup-pads look like this:


    If we do have an FOB it's advised to teleport to the FOB closest to the action.  Teleporting can be done by using the scroll option on the teleport laptop.  The teleport laptop looks like this:
     
    So the last option is to go via ground.  At our base and all of our FOBs vehicles spawn.  You can freely use these vehicles however do make sure nobody else is using that vehicle at that moment in time.  He might not be in it because he's loading things up.  If you're not sure just ask in sidechat.
    Most of our vehicles respawn the only exceptions are the side mission rewards.  They do not respawn.
    One last thing to consider is whether or not it's sensible to take that vehicle.  If you're all by yourself it might not be sensible to take a hemtt which can seat up to 20 people.  
     
    7. final notes
    Just a few final things you should know/do before joining:
     
    War is chaotic, friendly fire incidents will happen but try to avoid them at all cost.  In general we advise new -and experienced- players to check their map before shooting.  Just look whether or not there are friendlies in the area you're about to shoot at.  After having played enough hours in arma and in I&A you'll start recognizing what friendly and what hostile uniforms are, how AI behaves, ...  Just be sure to to rely on this knowledge too much, many people have been TKed this way.

    And finally be sure to read the rules, we have a select few rules that are the opposite of what most other servers out there enforce.  An example of this: if you crash a helicopter or vehicle and there is no sensible way to get it operational again, just abandon it do not blow it up.

    You have been banned at the end of May in 2020. The reason for your ban is stated as trolling in the form of questionable behavior toward fellow players and racism when you joined the server as FENRIR playing as part of unit [1488] sporting a Nazi swastika as the unit tag. Judging by the effort of creating a unit and using the unit tags including graphics I must conclude some effort was made specifically to display the Nazi symbology. 
     
    I'm sure I do not need to point out that this breaks several of the Ahoy World rules, but I will anyway.
     
    I cannot spot any sign of remorse, indication of growth as a person since the ban or even a promise to play by the rules in the future which begs the question, why should you be unbanned?

    If JaSmAn were around and not have been left behind by his team he would say "please, this time, can you take me home? This is my second time being taken hostage and to be honest, it's painful. I re-enlisted as RTO in the hopes that a job where I got shot at less would take the edge off the PTSD, but obviously not."

    I am here to inform you that I will officially leaving this community do to the fact that I was mistreated from the very beginning. This mistreated has caused me to react in a certain way and say stuff that was not awfully out of line but considered. It is true that I was finally banned for the first time for something soo silly.
    For those who didn't know how this happened....
    in side mission as I was observing a player who was going to suicide, he got out of his vehicle in middle of enemy infantry and decided to go on foot. I happened to say things like "your suiciding!" followed by you going in middle of the enemy suiciding!" and was accused by certain staff that I was not nice to that player by saying those phrases. The question here is was i not nice by saying those things? or was it caring that had led me to say those things so I want him to survive and value his life. Here I thought we are RP role playing and we dont have second life or more like we act like we don't second life yet a staff accuses for not being nice. So I happened to say words that counts as staff disrespect such as "enough", other things (check chat logs) which was less severe than those common words like "sdfu" or "shut up" or the use of word F in chat or anything similar. So, I received a kick. Now when I was saying those words I didn't know I went out of line as I was "simply" trying to inform them that I am not saying words that are not nice to other players. however, here is the second problem, had I recieve a warning that I crossed the line of staff disrespect i would of stopped. but instead after a good 5 to 10 minutes I got kicked. I did not get a warning about the staff disrespect. here i thought a good staff would simply warning players that they did something wrong and next time you will either be kicked or banned. I do not get those kind of a warning but a good silent of 5 to 10minutes and suddenly kicked. that hurt my feelings and to see other staff backing this makes me sick.
     
    I here to let you know that I don't deserve to hold this title "member of community" purely because I was banned for something "that I believe was wrongly staged" which has led me to say things to staff and, kicking without warnings. I wouldn't have said that if I wasn't accused of from the very beginning, and things during that day would of turned out better.
    Now I came back three to four days ago to join and play the very same community again as I missed arma playstyle as you can see how active I became when I came back. And to be mistreated like this and to be staged is something awful and I don't like it. Now staff might have different opinion on how things happened giving that fact they can check logs and see who was at wrong but i wish if they can read the whole chat and check if how the things i have just said wasn't nice rather than checking the things I said to a member of staff which has led me to being kicked. I wanted to have a normal day but I guess things got out of hand.
     
    It is true that I have made a ban appeal, because that how the system works, in order to get unban you must appeal for it. This is perfectly understandable. I have thought about it last night and I don't think i should be to blame for the entire problem, from getting kicked to getting a ban. the kick was staged and the member staff made me say things less awfully bad but considered to be kickable as it is disrespect to staff. Now if they let me know that I was out of line I would stopped but no one has said anything and after a good 5 to 10 minutes, kicked was placed.
     
    It is embarrassing for me as a member of community to be banned for breaking rules and be disrespectful to others (staged again). therefore, my title should be stripped as I don't deserve it at all. to make matters worse as I said in the beginning, I will leave arma community and go back to my other games. Sadly i didnt want this to happen but I wasnt sure if arma and the community was right for me and to experience something like this makes me wanna get away. I am sorry if I have disappointed you "for those who knew me" 
     
    - Another thing. I would like my unban request to be cancelled as I am leaving for good.

    First of all: NO ONE is required to read any of this. You can perfectly fine join the missions without ever opening this whole sub-forum!🙂👍
     
    Now that this is out of the way: Though, if you are interested in the lore of the campaign or if you are planning on SLing in the missions and want to give yourself an edge by knowing things like:
    Lore information📖 Information about the enemy (equipment, capabilities, how will he react to what, etc.)🔫 Standard procedures (e.g. ROE, Actions on Halts, Lost Marine Plan, etc.)📑 The Comms Plan, etc.📻 Maps of the country🗺️ etc.🧐👾🤠👻🐢 (you can also open this on your PC at work and it will look like you're reading something very important while you can actually just have a break😴👨‍💻) (It also looks nice🤩) Then the documents in here will be worth to read for you, as they contain all of the above and more!🔖
    (I switched to uploading PDFs now because 1.) the pre-typing and formatting it in Word and then copy&pasting it into the forums was more than clunky already and 2.) I switched everything from Word to Latex anyways because Word is just...Word... Meaning I cannot really copy&paste anymore as that is not working in a good looking way from PDFs which are directly generated by Latex.)
     
     
    Now to start things off, I give you the Base Order:

    The Base Order features everything in detail and will, as the name suggests, be the Base to reference for the Orders of the individual missions.
    Because whenever a new mission is annouced I will be posting a complemantary Fragmentary Order that will be based on, guess what, this Base Order.🙌 These Frag-Os will display all the changes from the Base Order (and therefore will be a lot shorter as the standard procedures, etc. rarely change) and already contain a full plan for the mission. So it is certainly worth a read if you want to know what we'll be up against and which squad will do what, etc.😉 Also, you will be perfectly capable of understanding the plan, etc. for a respective mission by only reading the Frag-O and never having read the Base Order...you'll just not know the unchanged standard procedures, etc. but for that you can perfectly fine just rely on your superior telling you what do to🤷‍♂️

    Hi there guys,
     
    It's been a long while. 
     
    My name is Stuart and Ahoyworld was my life for 2 straight years before my uni. I remember the great times this community gave me almost every day playing EU3 and later AWE. It was amazing. Being known as a horrible shot I almost always flew transport and to this day it remains one of my fondest memories, shuttling troops to and from as Vortex 1 or 2 and later Angel 1 and 2. I remember that flying formation as two aircraft was the most rewarding and fun thing to do at the time. 

    Well, with my uni starting I had to sadly take a step back from Arma as a whole and while I still played games, I never had the time to dedicate and come back. Until now. 
    While the community seems to have evolved and had many ups and downs (atleast from what I could see by every so often stalking the forums) I am so happy to still see it around 6 years after I joined. (Atleast thats what my TS account is claiming, (22/01/2015) baby!). 

    Eventhough I do not expect to experience the same gameplay I had back then, I am happy to be able to dedicate atleast some time back to Arma and there is no other community I feel I could be happier joining again. 
     
    So hello everyone, new and old. I hope I can come chat with you on TS and maybe even see you around on the battlefield. The constant missions running currently seem totally cool!

    The country of Al-Rayak has just had a military coup. The new leaders of the country are very hostile towards the western world and have expressed their intent to use the countries military to take over neighboring countries and then launch attacks towards the western countries.It doesn't help that they have chemical and nuclear weapons.
    NATO has declared that it will intervene as it is a direct threat to many countries in the alliance.
