Start one, see what happens from there. If you start it yourself, you can simply remove anyone who spams it, as Chuck suggests.

CLS team has always been pointless, yes.
More than enough medics without it, and if everyone followed lobby structure they'd still not be used as they can't do anything the squad medics can't.

I see no reason to change this unless core staff asks me to.
LAT and HAT are both AT; sitting on some hill and exploding things with a guided missile launcher might be entertaining from time to time, but whenever I load a LAT loadout to actually (attempt to) participate in some combat (and kill MRAPs and low shit) I feel like the last fucking retard on the server because I might as well pick any other slot and do the exact same thing plus have the other slot's benefits, abilities and equipment. That is the exact point I personally see in restricting all launchers to AT. If a regular foot soldier carried AT that would make him an AT rifleman, wouldn't it?
Might as well give every slot access to all gear, aircraft and engineer / medic skills, maybe disable stamina and remove the weight limit too while we're at it, maybe that's what people are looking for.
But if we're going to restrict equipment, then maybe the restrictions should make sense and offer some balance.

Allright, so the Hammer is "just" a ludicrous range Arty, 120mm, with the same ordnance types as the existing 155s. Rate of fire is massively disappointing, I assumed it'd be on par with the 155s at least, though I might have expected faster. It isn't.

The VLS is laser-guided, and so far I've had no luck hitting anything without getting a good and proper lock prior to weapon release. Datalink is absolutely required, but then it does seem to shoot over mountains or whatever else might be in the way. Also this is absolutely the most devastating single explosion in Vanilla. Again the rate of fire leaves something to be desired though.

    Try the following:

    Driver
    Engine on
    Throttle up
    Gunner, wait 10 seconds
    Driver
    Engine on
    Throttle up

If that fails, try giving it a move waypoint on the terminal, and take control if it moves.

Right let me get straight to it: if you accidentally shoot someone own up to it.

I don't give a damn that you accidentally shoot me if you own up to it. We all make mistakes, nobody is perfect. Heck it might've been my mistake. But for a while now people on EU1 have been owning up to their TKs more often than people on enhanced are doing.  (No i'm not talking about absolute numbers, I'm talking about the amount of people who own it compared to the amount of TKs that happen)

If you own up to it I'll have a laugh about it, I might joke about how terrible your shot was because I was only 100 meters away and sitting practically still and yet you didn't manage to actually kill me.  And then I'll try to see what to do to prevent this from happening again.
If I'd have known who shot me today to a point that I was unconscious while I was about 100 meters away from him I'd have told him this in person.

I've been long at thought for quite some time now about stepping away and it isn't just from AW, but from many aspects surrounding the gaming community. I've got ongoing IRL issues which really need tackling and where I thought coming into the gaming community (namely Arma 3 & AW) brought me a bit of solace I think it's having more a negative impact than anything. Turns out it was just a temporary escape. Burying heads in the sand is not a good option.
I don't want to delve into personal reasons or anything like that, instead I'd rather just say thanks to everyone for the fun I've had being around the AW community specifically.
@Xwatt and the others involved in giving me the opportunity to become spartan and public mod, I really had a great time in those roles even though it was a brief spell, hopefully I did the roles well enough for you guys. @Lindi for the assistance and added fun during that brief tenure, as well as @itsmemario and @Geb.

The list is far too long to tag everyone in, but for anyone who i've played alongside on AWE over the past two years then know that i've had some of the best times in those sessions, and i'll truly miss it.

It's been great being part of this community, I wish everyone the best ❤️❤️❤️.

Amentes reacted to Ryko in Stiletto development status: on hold.
    Hi folks,

As some of you have noticed lately, I haven't been as active on server or in development of the Stiletto mission.  Things have become busier in my life over the last few months, leading to less available time to put into Arma; coupled with the fact that Stiletto is more (or less) at a stable version, the purpose of this post is to inform you that for the foreseeable future, I won't be continuing further development of the mission.

There is a notable exception to this: on the staff level, we are envisioning an update to the mods employed on the AWE server, which will necessitate an overhaul to the vehicles available for spawning and equipment available in the arsenal.  I'll be putting forward a version 061 of Stiletto to accommodate this, but after that, I don't foresee a version 062 (except of course, when there are minor bugs to quash from 061).

What I will consider for 061 are essential mission fixes seen in 060 (if something is broken in the current version, I'll want to have it as fixed as possible). In addition, the vehicle spawning system is new, using points, and this is an opportunity to fine tune any point costs that haven't been working.  I haven't seen any feedback about that, so I'm assuming it's not causing big problems.

That said, I'm willing to allow other interested developers to extend the mission beyond 061: if you're interested in this, drop me a message.

I do hope to be able to get online again, it's just that for the next few months, I'm going to be swamped with a few projects IRL.  As I've always been the first to say to everyone else - real life has to come first.

    Thanks,

    - Ryko

It is with a heavy heart that I am officially announcing what will likely be my complete departure from AhoyWorld. As I have mentioned to some, I will be stepping down from the Enhanced moderator team on June 19; this will be paired with an indefinite hiatus from the community as well, though I fully intend to return when I can.

In December of 2017, I enlisted in the United States Navy, with my boot camp date set for June 20th of 2018. After boot, I will be going straight to my respective school, and will likely be deploying after that (this will easily encompass the next 3 years). I will be limiting any computer usage strictly to studying during this period.

To those members of the Enhanced realm of AhoyWorld reading this now, thank you for being my friends and family. I have tried my best to be a player, a moderator, a teacher, and a counselor; and if nothing else I hope I have succeeded in being another human being that you were always glad to talk to. I have spent a good 1,700 hours on Enhanced alone, and have seen many people come and go. Throughout the three years I've spent racking up those hours, though, my mind has never changed that both the server and AhoyWorld in general are diamonds in the rough that is the rest of the Arma 3 community. Nobody will ever be able to duplicate the truly unique things that you all share.

I will still be active up until the 19th. I am just making this notice ahead of time so that I have a proper buffer to wrap things up with, and so that I'm not rushing to get a message out right before I have to leave. You'll still see me on Enhanced as often as always, and on TeamSpeak so long as I'm awake.

    Regards,

    Shadow

    Sounds good!

Maybe it is a good idea to remove everyone from the programms and then start off completely fresh by again putting in people who you think should be in there instead of merging FAs and Vets together. But sounds like a good plan so far.

    And thanks for the reply!

it may seem that fa-enhanced are of a higher "tier" than fa-public, due to its name obviously for the newcomers, why not have fa-public, fa-modded instead? just like the moderators team, its easier for outsiders to understand imo

Yeah, it's a shame ACE doesn't check for multiple players. It's an 8-man craft after all, with four guys it wouldn't be an issue.

Boats than can be pushed: Assault Boat / Rescue Boat Motorboat / Motorboat (Police) / Motorboat (Rescue) SDV (Seal-Delivery-Vehicle) Jet-Ski
Boats that can`t be pushed: Mk. V SOC (Mark Five Special-Operations-Craft) Speedboat Minigun / Speedboat HMG Rhib (Rigid-hulled inflatable boat)

IMHO there's a pretty simple litmus test.

When you're thinking of using the Rally feature, ask yourself, am I currently willing to remove all consequence from getting shot in the face?

If there's few people on and getting people back out would be a massive hassle, the answer is probably gonna be yes.

If there's plenty of people on and getting people back out wouldn't really be much of an issue, the answer will hopefully be no.

For the same reason, I have zero issues with people spawning in at a FOB, as long as Vortex is made aware that transportation isn't likely to be needed.

Personally I see no issue with not using Vortex. Server should focus on infantry, and so the use of vehicles should always be about supporting the infantry, and one shouldn't have an expectation of getting to provide CAS or any of all that fancy stuff. Same goes for armor crews.

It does suck if this isn't communicated to the supporting assets though. I've been a supporting asset in custom scenarios before without getting used, despite the infantry being hammered to pieces, and in those cases I'd much rather have been informed that Command didn't want the asset that the mission maker had provided, as then I wouldn't have sat on my ass waiting for something that would never happen, for hours on end

My own view is very similar, though I'm interested in how you interpret "more things to do."

For my part, I like having a lot of stuff for scenario creators to play around with, but once we're actually playing, I appreciate it when everyone looks like they're part of the same unit, that is wearing the same style of uniform and LBE/PPE, and using the same styles of weapons. I greatly dislike it when a 14-man squad starts looking like they recruited off Craigslist and all the recruits brought their own gear from their local supplier.

I usually refer to my preference as "looking good on video," because I believe part of what makes video from ShackTac and the like is that they look organized, and the uniform look of the players contribute to that. Just imagine a Shack video where everyone is wearing different camo.

I also believe that looking organized can help players want to be organized. Instill it, if you will.
