First of all: NO ONE is required to read any of this. You can perfectly fine join the missions without ever opening this whole sub-forum!🙂👍

Now that this is out of the way: Though, if you are interested in the lore of the campaign or if you are planning on SLing in the missions and want to give yourself an edge by knowing things like:
Lore information📖 Information about the enemy (equipment, capabilities, how will he react to what, etc.)🔫 Standard procedures (e.g. ROE, Actions on Halts, Lost Marine Plan, etc.)📑 The Comms Plan, etc.📻 Maps of the country🗺️ etc.🧐👾🤠👻🐢 (you can also open this on your PC at work and it will look like you're reading something very important while you can actually just have a break😴👨‍💻) (It also looks nice🤩) Then the documents in here will be worth to read for you, as they contain all of the above and more!🔖
(I switched to uploading PDFs now because 1.) the pre-typing and formatting it in Word and then copy&pasting it into the forums was more than clunky already and 2.) I switched everything from Word to Latex anyways because Word is just...Word... Meaning I cannot really copy&paste anymore as that is not working in a good looking way from PDFs which are directly generated by Latex.)

Now to start things off, I give you the Base Order:
    Base_Order_Unrelenting_Resolve.pdf

The Base Order features everything in detail and will, as the name suggests, be the Base to reference for the Orders of the individual missions.
Because whenever a new mission is annouced I will be posting a complemantary Fragmentary Order that will be based on, guess what, this Base Order.🙌 These Frag-Os will display all the changes from the Base Order (and therefore will be a lot shorter as the standard procedures, etc. rarely change) and already contain a full plan for the mission. So it is certainly worth a read if you want to know what we'll be up against and which squad will do what, etc.😉 Also, you will be perfectly capable of understanding the plan, etc. for a respective mission by only reading the Frag-O and never having read the Base Order...you'll just not know the unchanged standard procedures, etc. but for that you can perfectly fine just rely on your superior telling you what do to🤷‍♂️

And as the first mission is starting soon (16.01.2021) already, here you also have the Frag-O (already featuring a plan, etc. as promised😌) for it:
    FRAG-O_16012021.pdf

Also here you can always find the current modset for the current MSO:

See you out in the field!💪

Pvt. Zwerger reacted to Xwatt in Community Update #10 - Xwatt Departs
    Ahoy,

I thought now would be a suitable time for a community update, as the title suggests I have a major announcement to make, and the last community update was in March, so I think the time is right to give the community an update about the current situation at AW.

    Xwatt Leaves Core Staff
As the title of this community update suggests, I will be stepping down from CS. The main reason for this is that my own personal schedule has been getting increasingly busy and with that, I feel that I cannot the devote the time to AW that it deserves, therefore the sensible decision would be to step down. @Ryko always puts it best, real life comes first and must be given priority. I'd like to thank @Mark T for giving me the opportunity to become a Core Staff member, and I would like to thank the current CS team, and the staff team for the support they have given me over the years. But most importantly, I would like to thank you, the community, for backing me and supporting the decisions I have made in the past few years in an effort to positively move this community forward.

On a brighter note, I would like to congratulate @MidnightRunner and @Norris, our new members to the Core Staff team. I have no doubt that these two will be able to make a positive impact to AW for years to come, and they have my full backing for any decision they will make. Midnight will be taking over the role of AWE manager, and Norris will be taking over the role of Public manager. I would like you all the congratulate these two, and I want you to support them wholly as you have supported myself.

    I&A4
The development of I&A4 is now back into full swing, and masses of progress has been made in priming it for public release. Just under a week ago, we completed a full 100% run of the mission, highlighting the progress in stability and allowing for persistent mission progress over the span of a few days. Please continue to leave your feedback in the dedicated I&A4 feedback thread, it is immense help in aiding Ryko to develop the mission. Feedback can be anything from bugs and missing items, to your feedback in how you think mission should be played. All feedback is welcome, and ultimately will shape the end product for the mission.

    AWE and Gamenights:
AWE has had a ton of progress since the last community update in March, and we will continue to support the growth and development of the server for the foreseeable future. Currently, the server is rotating maps and factions after every one run of Liberation, and this method is aiding in keeping player retention, compared to the two runs that we did in the past. Support has been mostly positive for the switch back to CUP and ACRE, and we will continue to listen to community feedback about how we can better improve the server. Be sure to attend our Liberation Sunday events, in which you can find information for that in the events section of the forum.

As for Midnights campaigns, we are currently in a transition period between moving towards a new campaign in both the Tuesday, and Friday operations. For the Tuesday campaign, this will be moving towards a zombie orientated mission, and the Friday campaign will be moving back to the PMC series, and more information about that can be found here:

Alongside Midnights missions, we have two gamenights from @BenjaminHL planned, keep an eye out on the events section of the forum for the dates of those missions.

    Final Note:
As always I want to thank the community for helping us to move forward in a positive direction. I want to thank the donators for their continued support in keeping AW financially stable, even during a pandemic where peoples income may be reduced. Being a community powered by your donations is a portrayal of the support you have for our community, and we will continue to make the suggestions and needs of our community the focal point before any major decisions are made.

On a more personal note, I would like to thank all of you for the support you have given me as Core Staff for the past few years. I have absolutely loved it, and it is with regret that I have to step down, but I am in no doubt that this community will continue to live on and prosper, as it has done since it has been founded. I would like to give my personal congratulations to @MidnightRunner and @Norris, both of you have my full backing, and I am excited to see the progression of AW a few years down the line from now.

    Thank you all,
    Xwatt & The CoreStaff Team.

When: Friday, March 11, 20:00 GMT (15:00 EST)
    Gather: 19:30 GMT (14:30 EST)
    Map: AL RAYAK
    MODs: Standard EU3 modset
    Respawns: Yes (tickets)
Mission Length: 25 minutes (we may do best 2/3)
    Mission: DANGER ZONE

    Summary:
Russian and American tank platoons converge on the town of Qunaya in Al Rayak, covered by Close Air Support on both sides.  With 25 minutes to take the objective, which side will persevere?

    Rules:
    - 30 second respawn timer.
    - Each side has 20 tickets.
    - Refuel / Rearm / Repair stations at both US and Russian air bases.
    - There's a sector to control. The team that holds the sector at the end of 25 minutes wins.
    - 18 pilot slots on each side.
    - Pilots can spawn jets from a selection to choose from.
    - In case you don't want to fly, there are amor crews available:
    - US tank crews: 2x M1A2 (4-man), 1x M163 (2-man)
    - Russian tank crews: 2x T90A (3-man), 1x ZSU 23-4 (3-man)

Possibly, though in my limited testing I haven't come across any.  I just got this thing working this consistently today.

It's a fair question.  I really starting going in this direction for a mission I'm working on, where there is a rifleman slot that has no special characteristics... ie., he has no particularly interesting function other than to carry a gun and back everyone up.  So I thought, why not make him a breacher-style class and give him a grappling hook?  Now he has something interesting he can do.  This page suggests that grappling hooks occupy a place in the US armed forces:

... but then, they are trying to sell you one for $80.00

Nope, inspiration came pretty much solely from Project Reality BF2.

Pvt. Zwerger reacted to kennychr in Valiant Status and other info
So the holidays are aproaching and I thought I would give you guys a update on the status and direction of Valiant and other things.

    Valiant\Gauntlet

First and foremost Gauntlet is now legacy "software" and will not be maintained by me at all, so kudos to the guys who hot-fixed it post 1.54.

Moving on: Valiant has been put on hold until the holidays are over and the new year rings in because work has been pretty hectic and I havent had the energy to put in hours on development. So the 300+hours i spent on it in october still is as how far as I got.

This means the mission currently is pre-alpha tested for stability in the main and side FSMs for mission selecting and it has 5 main missions and 3 side missions. This wil be expanded upon when I deem the selector FSMs rock stable(which pre-alpha tests showed it was).

Expanding upon the initial 300+hours of deving a new "backend" plus learning FSM will be some form of AAR\Stattracking in the form of ALiVE mods stuff we tested on the Insurgency mission we played, I will not however add any object\player persistency as saving the current mission state(in-game mission) is not viable and I dont want to add any mod dependencies as I made valiant as effortlessly possible to just port over. By effortlessly I mean copy over the code onto a base-template and alter the DAC unit configs to whatever you have as your poison.

Moving on yet again, I have a question for you the users:

    Gamenight(s)

Upon player Valiant_Insurgency I felt that the general consensus was that this was great fun and I felt I could make some improvements\other styles of the same deal(Persistent, multi sessions to complete) and I was thinking that I would make a fictional Nation and Scenario where the small nation of Ahoy had to push a invader out of their territories(All viable maps in the repo).

This generally would mean in rough outlines that each mission would take 2-3 game-nights to complete depending on how far\long we take to push and repell the occupying forces. We would need to use logistics properly as in I will give the platoon a set amount of ammo in the form of either crates\ammo-trucks\rhinos that need to be moved as we gain ground and general CSS(combat service support) would be maintained in a more expanded approach than we use atm i.e repairs, refueling etc.

Re-spawn will be handled like in Val-Ins with a spawn timer of 10 minutes (or more).
Fixed loadout would be in effect as we are a nations army and not pmc-esque style of Valiant\Gauntlet.

M119 howitzer - Really excited about that although I doubt it will be used much on EU3, a designated static weapon crew would be a good addition, possibly for Valiant?

Static TOW - Would be cool like the howitzer too, a fortified position with a few AT guns and a couple TOW's would be interesting to see.

SPC Camelbak model - Yay more SPC vests, love the look of these.

    Hey

so I was bored an decided to create a printable version of some Arma maps.
This form of a map would be my goal.

At the moment im working on a Takistan map. Here is the first version.

The scale of the map is 1:8243. (1cm on the map = 8243cm in Arma) For a better understanding 1cm on the map = 82.429m in Arma.
I know that the scale is pretty stupid at the moment, but im Trying to get it to a better scale. (1:100 or so)

If you want you can print it and assemble it, just be aware that it is the first version. So it can have some problems.
To assemble the map just print out all 32 pages (use a good printer for the best results) and glue them together with some tape on the back.

If you experience some problems or if you have some questions just contact me.

Feedback and improvement suggestions are welcome and needed

And tell me which maps you also want to see in a printable form

But is it possible to announce the Date (i dont mean the content, just the date) of future Game Night like a week or two in advance?

I ask this question because im working always over the Weekend at night and i can take one day of every weekend. So it would be great if i could know the Date of future GameNight a week or so ahead so that i can participate at these events every week:) .

Until now i just took work of when ever i had the feeling that there could be a Game Night. And most of the time it didn't work out.

Pvt. Zwerger reacted to Ryko in Random IED script for EU3
I've been working on a few missions, and have looked at systems like COS (Civilian Occupation System) and DAC (Dynamic AI Creator).  They all work with triggers, and when triggers run a script, that's what affects performance. In the case of COS and DAC (yes, I'm getting to the point re the IEDs) they continuously re-spawn new units when players walk into new zones, which is what creates stutters and lags.  In this IED script, all the IEDs are created at the beginning of the mission, so there shouldn't be any effect on performance after the IEDs are spawned.

As for whether it's an old script or not, DAC has been working off the same code base since 2010, while this IED script is from 2014.  I don't think ARMA code changes very much, so if it worked then, it should work now.

I'd vote to use it, but I have this feeling that work on Gauntlet has come to a standstill now that Kenny is on to Valiant.

Because you would have to bee way more alert when moving around the map.   What are your opinions?

I think that on PvE Gamenight there should be 3rd person viev (you dont have to play in 3rd person) but in the futere maybe we will see some PvP Gamenights, there the rulesett should be ONLY 1st person to prevent "wall cheating"

    On ArmA3 EU#3 MODDED.
    The map is AL-Rayak

The meet up time will be as follows:

Sunday - 3 PM GMT Mission start

Brief: This is a PVP Hostage rescue mission. A rebel faction has taken some hostages and is negotiating for a truck filled with weapons and AMMO. BLUFOR must try to negotiate for the safe release of the hostages. If all else fails then it will become a bloody battlefield.
Note: I will only start filling more than the first 3 hostages only after the majority of the regular slots have been filled.

You will not be allowed to JIP once the mission briefing is over..

Click here to apply for a slot! Failing to do this my mean you are not guaranteed a slot.

I'm stressing that any mucking about while we are doing this event will be met with according punishment for degrading other players enjoyment of the event. Normal EU#3 rules apply

3rd Person: Sometimes it is extremely hard for pilots to land without 3rd person.

Arsenal: I would keep it, but restrict the choices of the players like everyone is using the same camo or the same ammo type.
