With the last repo update for EU3 AWE, we had 16 GB of updated stuff thrown at us.
 
How A3Sync works is that it checks for folder names, so when it can't find the one from the repo server in your Arma directory, it is blind to everything else, even if it's just a tiny revision. So if you had ACE 3.6.0.0, then 3.6.1.0 comes along and changes a couple PBOs, the rest should be unaffected and the download would be a few MB at most to replace just those. But if the version number were in the folder name, A3Sync would look for @ACE_3.6.1.0, but only find @ACE_3.6.0.0, ignore it and proceed to download the entire mod again.
 
That's mildly annoying for small mods such as ACE, but absolutely infuriating in the case of RHS or CUP.
 
If you know about this, you can rename the mods in question yourself, but most players will either not be aware of it or do not comprehend the procedure. It's tedious as, if you mix up your dashes and your underscores, you'll have achieved nothing.
My proposal thus is to rename all mods with version numbers or otherwise variable names on the repo server itself. @CUP_Terrains_Core-1.3.0, for example, will then become @CUP_Terrains_Core. @ProjectOPFOR was re-downloaded because it now has an underscore in it, so if things like that remained consistent from now on, we could save a bit of traffic.
All future repo downloads of this week's magnitude would be cut down by gigabytes with a quick global change.
 
That's not to say to go out of your way to do so now. Perhaps just bear it in mind for the next update cycle.

Currently, the UAV's take off down a dirt track with a house at the bottom. Recently, I've heard many people who are using the UAV's cannot get them to take off at all. You might say this is down to skill, to which I say, fair enough. However, from my own experience the house, until it is inevitably destroyed by flying a UAV into it, cannot actually be cleared on take-off. Additionally, when I first played UAV operator on I&A3, I didn't spot the UAV resupply base in the south east of the map, so I had no idea what I was supposed to do with them once both bombs had been dropped. 
To kill two birds with one stone: Have the UAV's spawn at the same base you resupply them at.

So, where to begin. What on earth is going on with the Spartan thing? Last time I checked there were 2 Spartans. 2. Out of the hundreds, if not thousands, of Ahoy members there are 2 Spartans. So what is going on? I have seen through my 2 or so months of being on these forums loads of people inquiring and questioning about Spartan and Zeus in general. I am really curious why we don't have more. There are now quite a lot of trustworthy people on AhoyWorld and I am just wondering why whoever picks them hasn't given more people such a title. We have the Admin slot becoming more open (with the whole sign-up thing which I completely support) why not the Spartan slot? 
 
Now I personally am interested in the title (as I am sure a few of the admins are aware) but I am worried that something is happening behind the scenes that could jeopardize the title. Just thought I would ask. Thanks, Kyle

All right guys, that was honestly the best operation I've seen you guys do! Command did a good job, communication was good, all of the main objectives and 2/3 of the side objectives were finished...so now, let's go for perfection
 

Here's the next operation. Ignore the "Unofficial" title, it's still happening regardless of who gives it what title. Sign up is in the post, and i'm hoping we can get everyone on board! It'll be a hardcore vanilla defensive operation!

Just a quick Poll to see if people would like me and/or other experienced pilots from the ahoyworld community to continue Johns Flight school. In this flight school more experienced pilots would be training our greenhorn ahoy pilots in basic as well as more advanced flight techniques as well as common sense for pilots in general. Maybe even if enough people would like this kind of event we could also do a training Ops for Arma in general with basic tactical training as well as target shooting and other basic stuff.

Since comments and people have been quite positive so far i've decided to go ahead with organizing the flight school. It'll most likely take place somewhere next week after the official release of Apex. Time and date so far will be: 13/07   starting from 11 PM GMT. Please message me if you are not able to make it on the specified date let me know through the normal comment section. I'll see how many of you can make it and maybe change the date if need be.

Still a few things need sorting out 'base' wise. Doesn't appear to have the base protection on, which led to incidents of serious spawn killing last night (all reported, and hopefully, dealt with), and there appears to be an issue for some users with them not being able to see markers or the like on maps (Although, that may be more of a 'game' issue, than a I&A issue).
 
I think theres definitely something to offer for I & A on Tanoa, and I'm looking forward to the potential of other things to come on top of it.

If Ahoyworld has multiple servers...and you decide to turn one into Tanoa... but you already have done this to make the EU 3 modded server... and you still have days where all of the freaking servers are full...
how would the "new" server "split the community"

I'm happy to pay for the Apex DLC anytime as long as its reasonable. BI's previous DLCs were questionable and in my opinion should had been in the main game in terms of weapons. People are split because we are used to "other" DLCs where it looks like companies hardly put an effort to make their product and what bothers me the most is that some new games nowadays is essential to have DLCs accompanied to be release when the main game comes out. I think if they are to release any DLCs, there has to be some sort of applied effort from the company and not just "milking" the whole franchise.
 
The base game of Arma 3 was released in 2013, going to be 3 years now since BI released anything really significant. Like any other player out there I already logged in numerous hours of gameplays etc. plus BI is still supporting the main game with continuous updates. If you want to support "good" gaming companies with only a few of them in existence in terms of releasing a good product than one way is to support them. I already pre-purchased Apex because I know I will get my $ worth and I trust BI with what they're doing and if they fail with Apex than they will lose one valued customer. $35CAD is a lot, but with 700+ hrs in game time I know I can stretch the DLC in terms of utility and get my monies worth.

i would beg to differ scar, a lot off people play this game a lot (almost everyday) and will have got the game for a lot less than most games will cost now. so i think that giving the developer that has supported this game for a long time and will continue to do so some money and repaying them for the time that has been spent supporting this game is worth it and i think people should stop complaining about a 20% off because they think that everything in life should be free and they are gods gift.

I'm not sure how you came to that. In the link you posted it says:
"all vehicles, weapons and character gear will work as it did in previous DLC. You will be able to try them freely in VR Arsenal / Garage. When you encounter and use them outside of that mode as non-owner, you will meet various limitations and messages."
So it will work the same way as the helicopter and marksmen DLCs, all players will be able to see and use the new vehicles/weapons.
