    @SiegeSixput it perfectly.

It is difficult for an ArmA community to bounce back nowadays. AW used to be insanely popular because it truly used to be one of a kind, however nowadays there's dime a dozen servers that do what AW does and I wouldn't think it would be disrespectful to say that they also do it better just due to how AW has fizzled out.

I'm sure you could still manage to muster players to play on some of the servers, there may be potential for the occasional gamenight provided the community comes together for it. I'm not sure how many folk still hang around to play regularly but surely there's gotta be some otherwise AW would've ceased to exist.

You're a guy after my own heart, I wanted nothing more than AW to flourish for the longest time, I think so many of us owe so much of ourselves to this community. The friends and memories made along the way, for better or worse.

I hate to say it but if it is player numbers and perhaps a more active development you are looking for, there are other places. But the camaraderie of AW can be found nowhere else and I think that special quality will keep dragging you back.

If you want to try and promote the server and organize more active development in AW, I would say go for it. The Staff I am sure should be all for it. I'm sure there's still devs here who may wish to reinvent the wheel and try and push for that AW uniqueness again or just perhaps ensure a stable platform is maintained. Just be aware that as per my introduction, it is increasingly difficult these days for an ArmA community to bounce back.

As you say in your later post. There are many improvements on the table. When AW was competing with its main rivals, a certain JSOC that favors the number's 7. It was like a 1950's Nuclear Arms Race. However the stagnation has left the competition far ahead and for reasons such as that, their servers are absolutely packed 24/7. I'm sure there's ideas to be borrowed from theirs though.

It's lovely to see a bit of optimism. Whatever happens, it's nice to see the history of AW goes on. I would hate for the name to fizzle out as well.

Let's just archive this thread, at this point there is nothing to gain by making more drama or digging up dirt. I get that there may be a different discussion to be had about Core Staff. But tbh I find the whole ordeal that happened on AW last summer a sad and disheartening part of my Arma career. AW will always be the place I started in Arma, and I think it's the same for many.
So lets reminisce on the good points, not a low point. Use a different thread to discuss a different situation.
    Happy new year!

This has diverged significantly from the actual point and has definitely lost the constructive and mature vibe that @Xwatt was going for (easily forgotten, 18 months-ish later).

If people weren't truly part of the community, then there is no point complaining about "losing" them, or them being "recruited" away, because they were never part of the community, right? You can't both have problems with people not joining in and simultaneously declare they've never been part of the community.

As for monitoring people's activity in other places, that's just really weird. Not singling anyone in particular out for this, as I know a number of people were doing it, seemingly long after everyone else considered this issue dead and buried. I would rather they had put this effort into actively promoting AW in places such as /r/FindAUnit and on Twitter etc, as unfortunately Arma 3 is an old game, and only new players find communities via the server browser. AW's strength has always been the sense of community and friendship that is centred around Arma, though ends up going in myriad directions with other games being played long into the night until people remember they have "real lives" to wake up for in the morning and they should probably get going. There are subgroups within AW, but by and large we could all get along enough to make a decent game of Arma happen 9 times out of 10.

I implore you all, as the unintentional centre of this storm, to stop taking this stuff personally and to - more broadly speaking - just communicate properly. My decision to play with another group was not personal, it was simply practical (I don't like Arma that goes outside of the range of "modern history to near-future", and there was a Star Wars campaign happening, so I had an Arma day free.). My decision to become far less involved in the community has been mostly a result of people taking this kind of thing personally, and feeling like people were observing me and taking notes constantly. It left me feeling like there was no place in AW where I could continue as I always had been without someone in the room waiting for me to slip and say something that definitively broke a rule, just because they'd taken it personally. Hell, if they weren't in the room, it felt like they would be monitoring who was in the same room as me and that in itself would be a crime.

Soon after I started playing with this group, I let @MidnightRunner know, in case there was any issue from a staff PoV. He let me know there isn't, and that other people in AW play with other groups and that's alright (and I know that eg. @Norris was aware of at least one such other group and was fine with it) . As soon as anyone had taken any sort of issue with it, eg. discord rich presence, or that I'd streamed some games with them, etc, they were more than free to just ask me about it, and they'd have found me just saying "I want to play Arma set around nowish, with people who do things differently to us, to see if I can improve how I play Arma as I've only played it with you guys", and we'd have been sorted.

tl;dr: It's nothing personal, AW needs to play to its strengths to attract new players. All Arma communities cycle through players, but the ones that survive or grow replace them by attracting new ones. You've got a really fucking gorgeous unique mission that I strongly believe that people need to know about - Frontlines. It deserves to be up there with Antistasi and Liberation in the lists of co-op game modes people should play. You've also got the DCS players that really have something good to push forwards with as well. I'm sure that there is plenty of good stuff for AW to be doing rather than shouting angrily at an 18 month year old thread.

@SiegeSix - there are better places to start the discussion on CS activity than in a thread dedicated to a different topic.

i've been holding back, not wanting to reignite a useless and dead conversation, since Siege didnt make a point, i didnt think it would warrant a reply, but the audacity here...

so you say you have many friends and come back to meet them, because you wouldnt meet them elsewhere. who got over to the other community? 99.9% of mso, mini even got the recruiter award for it, and yall still got the steam group dont you? and before you mention yall part of the community, you were never part of it. mso was dead meme, sound overdrive with the lead 2 singers, you lot forced your way into eu3 AFTER the community built it up.

need i remind you, mso was adjacent, never mixed with the "eu1 plebs" (yes, that is a quote, not naming names, you know who you are)

-or the mission which was streamed, and clearly captured when all of you shat on everyone, berated them for 2 hours ON STREAM, and collectively decided, to "fuck everybody, we do our own thing" then clearly disregarded everyone, fucked off with a plane and left the rest stranded (glorious teamplay moment right there, the pinnacle of arma milsim, or wasnt something along these lines the summary blurb of mso?),

-or the other regular gamenight, where "fuck them, ive got who i care about right here"

-or the massive advertisement campaign, when all of yous joined with the unit patch on, profile and all, then shittalked in the far corner, away from the "plebs". guess what, you werent that sneaky.

so, the point is, yall just sit in nav deck, circlejerk eachother, which you could do in the other community TS, you could make your own discord serever, its free. you dont mingle, you dont even try to get to know the community you call yourself part of, every single time you lot joined previous gamenights, with the sole intent of memeing and disrupting it.

interesting to see, the mso havent changed a bit, trying to carve a piece of the accomplishments out of somebody else's work...

i had many many late night run-ins with newcomers, who jumped into nav deck first, and you lot bullied them out of there in minutes, with fuck offs and more, then they jumped channels and found me and JJ sitting there, and told us all about it, asked if the community is like that. i personally dont want any of you to be the first experience of anybody who joins AW. scratch that, i dont want you to be any part of their experience. you chose to be part of another community, be there, form that.

dont try to tell everyone you are still AW members when you cant even recognize the regulars' voices, although you chill on the same TS, for years.

So after 7 or so months, I finally read the full message. Rather late than never, right?

    Language.

Let's analyse the tip of the iceberg.
People left for another community. They somehow brought each other with them, including those they didn't really talk to. When player numbers are dwindling and players are offered a chance for higher playercount operations with ranks and designated roles, they jump ship and most never looked back. In that dire time, it would've been nice to know that Core Staff gave a care about it. But instead we got this:
I think the underlying issue is the core staff itself, and not the reaction to the situation... well mostly. You see, as Lindi said, we were never told anything, besides what we could find in
Stating the transparent thoughts about the process and thoughts about the community who picked their side.

I do find it curious as to how Core Staff can conduct an investigation into a matter like this, the way they did. I find it funny, that everyone that saw the document took the same side. I also find it strange those that tried to set things right got punished for it.
I am by mostly a neutral man. I love a good drama and this is no exception. However seeing the very pillar of this community, Mr. Community Referee or whatever Lindi's role was as an Admin, choose his side as if he knew what was going on. Yet with the knowledge of the document being leaked, the core staff never opened the floor to invite some of the admins that werent in the report, like Lindi. Sure, policies are in place, but we've banned people for less.

If actions were taken and people were banned, well... those people probably never would've returned for the next 2-3 years anyways. Sure, forcefully saying goodbye to long term members are sad, but at least it would've shown you had guts. Instead our current Core Staff team, consisting of Ryko, Ghostdragon, Midnight and Chris, is not what we define as pillars of the community.
You see pillars can be seen, they can be seen as supporting the structure they are placed within. Keyword here being, SEEN, because where is everyone?
Now is not the time for excuses, we know Ghost can deliver when Midnight is not there... mostly, but where is Chris and where is Ryko? It's okay if they're busy with real life, but why keep them up there if they don't have time for the community? If Xwatt can, why can't they.
If the requirements are to process the qualities that each member require, then why isn't anyone with the same level of qualification, who is vastly more active core staff?

Why make a third open letter, when Xwatt's second is a good forum to revive, because unlike Midnight's comment...
This was foundation of the entire post from Xwatt, and that I cannot beat.

    Full situation report
The invasion of Livonia is slowly grinding to a halt in other sectors of the country. Despite this the Russian momentum in the Nadbor region is still firm. It is expected that if this persists the entire region will be under Russian control within 2 weeks. On the advice of NATO intelligence LDF Command has concluded that the Nadbor region must be held. NATO is finally sending troops. Specifically, to aid in the retaking of the Nadbor Region. It will take time to get these troops over here though, so it is crucial that the Russian momentum is halted.
Russian troops in other regions are not as organised and effective as they are in the Nadbor region.  Corruption in leadership has led to troops being ill equipped, poorly organised, and generally ineffective in strategy. NATO intelligence suggest that the exception to this reality, General Vladislav Brev, oversees the Nadbor front. Explaining why the Russians have been more effective in this region. If Brev was removed from command, it is likely the current momentum will halt, and a counteroffensive can begin.

LDF is deploying special forces and sniper teams to find and kill the general. Additionally, the special forces should make use of this opportunity to gather intel on enemy plans and disrupt enemy activity by destroying, or otherwise dealing with, points of interest.
Special forces will paradrop into enemy territory by HALO drop.

You have probably seen the teaser trailer by now & know AW will be getting a DCS server. I don't want to see the mission going up and being a complete surprise to the majority of players so I'm going to do my best to keep the development of the mission as open as possible. Hopefully this will result in a mission that we all like (already being built on responses to this topic)

As the mission editor is a cluttered mess I have put together a award winning render of the mission state atm.

A bit of detail on what's in/planned for these areas.

    Spawn:
    - Spawn points (there will be a place for you to request more of certain modules in case you find that one you own is not there or just not enough to go around)
    - CTLD pickup point

    Heli CAS Range:
    This range has multiple objectives,
    - A target area that will not fire back or move (simple target practice)
    - A target area that shoots back & moves around to try and avoid death (bit more deadly target practice)

    Static Jet CAS Range
    - A Varity of targets that will not react or fire on you so you can practice your weapon employments without risk of being shot down.

    Convoy Range
    - A moving convoy to practice your convoy strike skills

    Air to Air Range
    - A selecting of unarmed BLUE & RED jets mixed together to practice your Air to Air weapon skills & IFF ability's (these jets will not react or fire back)

    Anti Ship Range & Spawns
    -  Viggen & JF-17 spawns at Batumi to launch anti ship strikes from
    - Carrier strike group made up off the Forrestal, Tarawa & Kuznetsov (Harrier, F/A-18, F-14 & SU-33 spawns)
    - Out to the west you will find a few ships to practice your anti shipping skills on (at this time they will not fire back or intercept)

Now for the big one, Dynamic Range.
These are objectives that will shoot back & move around as you destroy them. One objective will show at a time, once it has been destroyed a new objective will spawn & have a chance of increasing the RED air presence. RED air assets will patrol the area after objective one is destroyed, this wont just a be limited to jets but also a few helicopters.
You will also notice a BLUE FARP, this is a second spawn point for both CAS & Logistic Helis. The idea behind this is to allow heli pilots to take part in the main arena. CTLD is enabled at the FARP so logistics can build SAM sites to take down enemy air, deploy troops to close by AO's or build Combined Arms enabled vics to take into battle yourself.
(RED Forces will not leave or shoot outside the dynamic range area leaving the other targets a safe place to practice the needed skills to enter the dynamic range) *the range is as dynamic as I can make at this time, as the mission versions progress so will the range randomness*

Here is a list of current planned features, requested features & bugs from those who have tested the mission so far. Feel free to comment in the request area or on this forum thread, I will be doing what I can to accommodate requests but some may be out of my current skill range or don't fit the mission.
    Escalating Terror Google Doc

(You will find me local hosting the mission for testing now & then. These are not private tests if im in the DCS TS channel, so if you happen to be on at the same time as when im running it come try it out )

SkullCollector reacted to MidnightRunner in [AWE] Cataclysm Campaign
    Hi All,

For the next 4/5 Fridays we will be running a post apocalyptic style campaign. I'm attaching the modset here so you guys can download any mods you don't have.
I'd say the only large mod you may not have is the map Esseker.

    Arma 3 Preset AW_Cataclysm.html

    Overview:

Following an unknown cataclysm the world was plunged into chaos. Most electronics ceased to work and strange anomalies started to appear all over the world. As global governments scrambled to adapt to these events another problem came to light.
A virus emerged which was fatal to almost all those exposed. While a small amount were immune another group were transformed by the virus into violent inhuman creatures, who more resemble fictional zombies than real humans.

In the decade since the event colloquially known as the Convergence the surviving remnants of humanity have banded together in small groups, surviving as best they can. Though not all of these groups are friendly. What little technology still survives is hoarded by the more powerful groups.

    Situation:

After several tough years your group had created a good life for yourselves. Through farming and trading with other groups you have managed to ensure that your people are fed and are safe from this hostile world.
That was until a group of raiders attacked during the night and overwhelmed your defenses while most of the fighters were out on a trading run.
When they made it back, they found only a handful of survivors, some were killed and others were taken along with all of the food and supplies stored.

That is where we begin, can you survive in this world? Will you be able to find those that attacked you and get your people back?
Mission briefing will follow in the events section, keep an eye out for it.

Situation Report & Mission Statement: Horizon Islands
    12:29 UTC // 3rd of august 2036 // Classified
Partially declassified, only intended for 22 SAS regiment, B Squadron assigned to Task Force Sol

The Horizon islands have been the battleground for the better part of a century now. Since the fierce battles of World War 2 throughout the icy tension of the cold war the strategic importance of the former French colony has made it an unstable region. It frequently passed from puppet master to puppet master.

For the past 15 years the islands have been stabilizing under the partnership of local Russian “Born” Politician Igor Zelemnikov and business mogul/vice president Hue Chin. Their partnered government grew out of a peaceful protest a dictatorial confederation in 2021. The global community applauded the peaceful transition though MI6 intelligence believes that that both men were instrumental in causing events that ultimately led to the protests.

Both Zelemnikov and Hue are tied to Horizon Island through their intelligence work during the periods that their respective governments exerted control over the islands. Zelemnikov’s ties with the current Russian government are flimsy but it is clear, based on current Chinese investments and coded messages sent to and from Tanoa, that Chin is still working with the Chinese Ministry of State Security to some extent. Furthermore, their party, Nouveaux Horizons, is currently the only political party.

Zelemnikov was a KGB officer stationed on the island when it was under soviet influence. The public narrative is that he was born on the island to Russian parents and has lived on the islands ever since working a wide range of minor jobs before rising to fame organizing the first peace march in 2019. Zelemnikov is in fact from Vladivostok, spent time as Spetsnaz operative in Afghanistan during the exodus in 1989 before joining the KGB and getting stationed on Tanoa. With the fall of the USSR, he was disavowed and remained on the island as mercenary fighting a guerrilla war against the government until he re-appeared during the peace march. Zelemnikov is a charismatic individual, a cult leader in any other light. The man has a way with words.

Hue Chin is a lot more honest about who he is. Heir to the Chin Digital Media empire, he took over his family’s business when his father Lee Chin passed in 2016 due to unknown health complication. Lee was an eccentric individual that like showing off his physical health. Lee Chin’s criticism of government crackdown on media & online entertainment therefore may have been the health complication the doctors were referring to. Prior to all this Hue Chin spent time in military academies as well as a 3-year gap where even the combined efforts of western intelligence can’t pinpoint where he was. Hue spent much of his time from 2010 to 2021 buying and selling land around the Horizon islands to Chinese companies and islanders to curry favour with them as well as doing the MSS’s bidding.

The pair ushered in a golden decade for the islands as Chinese businesses heavily invested in the region. The island modernized rapidly but wealth quickly pooled around the wealthy business owners rather than the regular population. This led to a series of large-scale protests throughout the island chain in 2032 which to everyone’s surprise was beat back aggressively by government forces. These protests led to a downfall in standing with the global community. After the discovery of Uranium on the island of Tanoa Chinese influence and the militarization of the islands has increased dramatically.

With the increase of animosity to the outside world in the last five years the global community has denounced Tanoa’s government and called for the stop of Uranium mining & enrichment, harsh sanctions on trade, and opening of borders to human rights watchdogs. Tanoa has answered with the promise to arm themselves accordingly to the threat that the global community is making themselves out to be. They have begun expelling American and European embassies and organisations.

“We have licked the heels of despots for too long. Tanoa has been a truly free nation for 15 years and we shall not submit again!” -Igor Zelemnikov

China, and by extent all members of the Canton Protocol Strategic Alliance Treaty are applauding The Horizon islands firm stance and have recently begun training and equipping the Horizon islands. Furthermore, MI6 has confirmed CSAT Is performing weapons testing on the islands. NATO [redacted] officer, [redacted], is even making a case that the recent earthquakes on the island are caused by a device first encountered by said officer on the Mediterranean islands of Altis & Stratis.

“The only logical thing to do when the Western world threatens to play empire yet again. The Horizon Islands have our full support.” -CCP Spokesperson

Aside from a minor CSAT presence and the HIMF a third faction currently operates around the Horizon Islands. The Syndikat, or just Syndikat, a loosely organised smugglers ring in the Indian & Pacific Ocean, and the west African coast. The key leader is a man that goes by the alias Warlock. We know very little about him but whenever we roll up a cell this name comes up as being the leader. Syndikat have begun appearing in the jungles of The Horizon Islands raiding villages and smuggling drugs, guns and more wherever they like. Though Syndikat is not our priority we may find ourselves fighting them during our operation.

MI6 and the CIA have gathered enough intel to build a case against the two men in The Hague for instigating a popular uprising through inhumane acts, crimes against humanity and extortion.
The firm stance of the Horizon Island government began around the same time this Intel came to our light. Insiders are concerned there are potential moles in both agencies. This document is therefore your eyes only. Each of you will be deployed into a hostile country for potentially 6+ months with only each-other to trust. Beyond the draftee of this document, The heads of MI6 and the commander of the HMS Proteus no one knows the full reason or plan of this operation.
    Mission objective
Carrier Group Severn Is to be sent to the Horizon islands to deliver and extract brigade of Royal Marines and SAS teams.
The Royal marines will be retrieving the embassy members from Georgetown.

SAS teams will use the cover of the rescue op to infiltrate the island chain and begin a multi-phased operation wherein they will gather intelligence, Sabotage, raid & assassinate high value targets in preparation for a coalition invasion. Meanwhile, they will also keep track of and attempt to apprehend Igor Zelemnikov and Hue Chin. Carrier group Severn will retreat from the area leaving operatives with no immediate support. HMS Proteus will return occasionally for supplies. Operatives are to maintain total radio silence on comms outbound from the Islands to ensure concealment. Messages requests and intel will be relayed via HMS proteus. Only when the general mission is at risk may radio silence be broken.

    Phase 1: Establish foothold
Operatives will infiltrate and secure several Forward operating bases within the Tanoan jungle. Targets have been chosen from a selection of abandoned military installations, Jungle temples & archaeology sites, and cave/rock formations. Once secured these positions should be fortified and stocked with supplies brought in via supply drop from carrier group Severn before it leaves the area.

    Phase 2: Gather intelligence
Operatives will gather intel on troop strength, weapons development, High Value Individuals, and points of interest such as government buildings, checkpoints, Uranium mines, & Military installations. Multiple potential landing sites will need to be investigated for the coalition invasion. This will be done through observation, infiltration & hiding within the population.

    Phase 3: Sabotage
Based on intel gathered operatives will begin assaulting point/people of interests and weapons development labs found during phase 2. [Redacted] will send in a team for support on any of the special weapons development lab. It’s important that any sabotage performed during this phase will not draw direct attention to us or our intentions. Any targets assaulted in this phase will in some way impact the Islands economy, morale, or CSAT’s weapons development.

    Phase 4: Bite and Hold
With the invasion imminent Operatives will move and begin assaulting points of importance on the surrounding islands to ensure safe landings for coalition forces. Operatives will need to hold these points of interest until friendly forces come in to relieve and hold the positions instead. Operatives will then retreat to the main island and prepare to attack and hold points of importance there in anticipation for the invasion of the Main Island. After successful landings Operatives will work to find and capture Igor Zelemnikov and Hue Chin.

Once Igor Zelemnikov and Hue Chin are in custody Coalition forces will move into the capital & establish a more moderate government. Zelemnikov & Chin will then be tried in The Hague.
    SITREP Mission Progress Notes
Warlock is sending a certain M'Bala to investigate the losses of some of their hideouts, which we have now occupied as bivouacs. These Familiers as they are called are Warlock's personal soldiers. They are well trained and well equipped. We should watch out. Weapons Development Labs
Cheng - Project Asp - Advanced Viper suit development
Due to being uncovered twice by HIMF and CSAT and other global events we are now at war with CSAT.
During Operation Thunderstruck a nuclear explosion occured at the Red Spring Uranium mine. The direct area around the site is lethal. At this time it is not yet clear what the damage of the fallout and radioation is.

    Completed/resolved
Listening Post Leicester is now running and gathering data from secure channels. SAS operatives has been rescued. All soldiers are accounted for. ION elements have been successfully exfiltrated. Igor Zelemnikov and Heu Chin have been taken into custody. They will now await their trail in the hague for warcrimes they've commited prior to and during their reign of the Horizon Islands. Evidence provided will further support our decision to invade the Island Chain in front of the global community. Additionally, their capture means that the Horizon Island government is headless. We intend to make use of the ensuing chaos to offer a reasonable surrender to whoever fills the void. Our stolen Polaris Dagor has been secured and safely stored back at base. Weapons Development Labs
Cheng - Project Asp - Advanced Viper suit development
Liu - Project East wind - Secured and transferred to CTRG
Zhang - Project Atrox - Weaponized Virus development - Dismantled - CTRG retrieved a sample and counter agent.
Xhaio - Project Isotope - Weaponization of Radon - Dismantled
Wang - Project Black Gauntlet - Likely the Weapons lab in the Uranium mine.
We managed to steal a truck full of CSAT equipment. Included were guns, helmets and uniforms. We'll keep it stored for when we need to impersonate CSAT.
Landing sites have been evaluated and marked. Some positions are mined but not impossible to deal with
A number of military facilities are located on the western islands. Potential targets for sabotage/airstrikes
An SAS team has made the mistake of driving on a main road through a major settlement, they collided with a HIMF APC which called in CSAT reinforcements. We have lost contact with the element. We can only assume that CSAT knows we are now on the island. All we can hope is that none of the operatives survived to be interrogated. It is likely HIMF & CSAT will be on full alert when our next operation rolls around.
Bivouac Plymouth turned out to be a Viper training camp testing new Viper equipment called Reflectors. The assault triggered a very strong response from CSAT. It is likely whatever we found was very important to CSAT there

    Global consequences of the campaign
The events on the Horizon Islands have lead to a third world war. While the world is mostly divided between east and west the division is much further based on the current and historic relationships between the two main parties; CSAT and NATO. A number of countries remain neutral. Most notably Russia and Argentina which both find themselves between both sides but have a strong enough military force to deter a possible invasion. The UN Security Council as assigned Argentina the duty of UN observer in the coming conflict. Russia meanwhile seems to be playing its own game amidst the chaos.
Igor Zelemnikov and Heu Chin have been taken into custody and are being tried in The Hague. A number of assassination attempts have been made during the trail but for now both are very much alive. So far the trail has revealed evidence for the crimes against humanity committed by the pair along with the experiments CSAT has been doing on the island. Public opinion of our invasion of the islands and our response to CSAT's declaration has therefore swung in our favour.
The rescue of ION operatives has made its rounds in the media back home. Aside from A PR boost for the military it's also meant Many PMC's are offering their services at reduced rates to our governments as covert soldiers. Intelligence agencies are currently vetting these groups and establishing a spy network of PMC's.
The Red Spring nuclear incident has been devastating to the Horizon Island region. While the blast itself was minor, enough radioactive material was distributed over the main island to severely impact the agriculture there. Blue Pearl Industrial harbour and the villages around the mine will likely not be usable for the foreseeable future meaning a significant effect on the Island Chain's economic strength. A whole new deep sea port will have to be build.
While we managed to destroy most weapon development labs we failed to find further intel on project Asp. it is likely this development will proceed and we may encounter more powerful Viper units during future campaigns. Nonetheless we have crippled CSAT's military tech strength and have developed necessary countermeasures to the developments we found on the island chain. Where CSAT may have had a leap in technology a year ago we have levelled the playing field
CSAT is in the possession of an orbital laser capable of storing solar power and transferring it into a high intensity energy beam. While we have specialists working on figuring out the exact details of the device and ways of taking it down we will have to be cautious when fighting in High intensity areas. So far we know it can only be on one location at a time and takes time to get into position. It heavily relies on earth's rotation to get anywhere fast.
Any Further questions in regards to the current situations may be directed at the officer currently investigating the situation by responding in the thread below.

SkullCollector reacted to DomT in Frontlines Factions and Maps
    Evening all,

Frontlines has been a collaborative project, using ideas from other game modes and community members, mashing them together and building on it to create a tailored gamemode desired by the AW community. As part of the work on Frontlines, I spent a considerable amount of time setting up the configs (which design Blufor, Opfor, Guer and Civilian) and maps to make them as easy as possible to create and edit. This was done in part to make it open for all to contribute. Therefore I would like to share what we have created and invite those interested to make their own factions and maps (within the modset). This google doc shows the progress on various factions and maps. If you would like to contribute, this zip folder has all of those listed on the doc as complete/played in as examples as well as a guide taking you through the process of making them. Once you have decided to make one, if you can suggest onto the google doc to allow us to track and avoid cross-pollination.
    Map and Factions.zip
Additionally, the FOBs, Supply Depots and IED Factories used in the secondary missions are all created by community members, so if you would like to create more of those for us to add in for further variety, please drop a message here and I can go through the process with you. Again it is relatively straightforward.

Any other questions, feel free to drop them here.

Lots of A/G, less so A/A.
Probably going to get the Typhoon day 1, though, for a slicker A/A platform.

For PvE, I also enjoy dynamic and procedural missions, but lately I've been looking into pre-briefed operations gamenight-style with some people from a popular YouTuber's server. To coordinate strikes from different IPs but still hitting at the same time while the CAP kept us safe was very satisfying.
Haven't done much PvP, but I can see it tickle me.

    1. BoxLoader

    2. The mod allows loading appropriate cargo and logistics objects onto vehicles to transport more conveniently and awesomely. It comes with a container / pallet functionality, which allows stacking of smaller items such as ammo and launcher crates onto a pallet, which is loaded as a whole onto the bed of a lorry or a roof rack. Much of it is available for paradrops.
There is also a fortifications module that I have not tested, but promises to meaningfully adapt fortifications like sandbags and H-barriers to cargo and a built-in construction system.

    4. Liberation is already playing towards logistics, but it can be a little unsatisfying with only ACE cargo available. Loading up supplies adds a gameplay dimension we don't often explore past bringing a medical crate, which is mostly forgotten about, hidden in a Humvee way back.
The fortifications can feasibly replace or supplement GRAD trenches (depending on their bug status), without being magic.

Outside of Liberation, getting used to it for gamenights enables us to bring logistics into the scope of a mission. Establish a forward observation post. Supply it. Defend it.

I'm curios to see how many of us play DCS, what modules/aircraft we fly & what type of mission(s) are liked.

So please feel free to fill this thread with what you fly & mission styles you love (from gamenight style operations to 24/7 game modes)

    Disclaimer:
This is just myself looking to see how many are interested in a DCS server & what would be wanted so if one is to ever happen decisions can be made that best suit desires.
The other goal is to perhaps bring us virtual pilots out the shadows & go fly together.
