    Hi all,

    I will keep this brief,

As you've all probably noticed Piranha hasn't been around much lately, this is due to a number of reasons which I won't go into, so with a heavy heart he has decided that it would be best for the community to step down from his leadership role and hand the reins over to me.

This isn't my first rodeo, and I'm sure further down the line I may make mistakes, possibly big mistakes, and bad decisions that not many people may agree with. Nevertheless what I can bring to the table is openness, transparency and hopefully stability.

There are a few areas that I will be looking to improve on; clarity of roles, community engagement and most importantly communication within staff.

I hope that you will all back me through this difficult period and be patient with me in trying to turn this community around.

Remember, if you have any ideas/suggestions please bring them to us, we are always looking to improve.

Lastly, I would like to thank @PiranhA for his contribution and wish him all the best for his future endeavours.

Found some time this morning, jumped on some random American server and managed to have a lot of fun even though my ping was somewhere closer to 200.

Got into the medic slot, had a great SL that was calm, level headed and had a clear picture of what was going on. I managed to save and help a lot of team mates and even got myself a few kills.

It's quite some time since I've experienced a rush like this!

It's also a "drop in drop out whenever you want" kind of gameplay as long as you don't take SL or something.

    Good day!

I have developed this small guide on Squad on the Ahoyworld servers to demonstrate the basics of infantry combat and the different roles available. Lets get started!

    Table of Contents
    1. How to join
    2. First Steps.
    3. Vehicles
    4. FOB's
    5. Squad Leader
    6. Conclusions

    How to Join

To join the Ahoyworld server you must go into the 'Custom servers' Tab

Scroll down the list and look for server name [ENG] EU1 Ahoyworld.net (if server is empty make sure you go to filters and select 'show empty servers')

    First Steps

Once you have successfully loaded into the server you may begin by picking or creating a squad. Do this by pressing enter and clicking create a squad or join a squad. Afterwards you will want to pick an available role which you think you are capable of, for new players it is recommended you take Rifleman, Rifleman LAT or Auto rifleman, Medical and Squad Leadership is easy to get a hold of when you think you have the basic combat experience necessary to take these roles.

Once you are in remember to listen to your Squad Leader and utilise all of your weapons for an effective squad, Scroll wheel usually displays your inventory at the right hand side of the screen.

    Vehicles

Squad allows players to enter many variations of vehicles, Such as basic Humvee's or Transport trucks up to a BTR manning a 30mm cannon. Destruction of vehicles can inflict tickets on your team however and can be the factor between a win or a loss. Make sure you use the vehicles responsibly and remember that they are not invincible, Players will bring Anti Tank weaponry.

    FOB's
FOB's are deployed by your squad leader placing down an FOB radio which must be resupplied regularly by Logistical Trucks.

FOB's in squad are a very important factor for your entire team (Not just your squad) FOB's allow you to fortify and deploy emplacements such as DShK's and 50 cal's or Mortar emplacements to suppress the enemy. The most important part of FOB's are the ability to allow your team to spawn at them, This is done by placing a HAB which your Squad Leader is able to place in the radius of the FOB Radio.

    Squad Leader

As squad leader you are the Commanding Bigwigs of the team, You must coordinate with other squads using the Squad Chat activated default by 'G'. It is important that you understand what you are doing and that you are familiar with the servers rules. Listen to advice from Squad Members or anyone on your team as the decision you make could be a life or death mistake.

    Conclusion

To finish my guide I would like to say that squad is a game for new and experienced players and that even if you have no playtime in the game don't be afraid just to ask what you should do. As people will rather have someone willing to learn and gather experience than someone who is running around shooting at trees.

I&A servers are generally designed for PvE mechanics, that is what most players come for and adding this would most likely cause a bit of imbalance. What I could see is Eu4 going to a CSAT based team where the enemy AI is nato and CSAT/AAF is your team.

So while I was being boring I thought of an idea for yet another side mission.

The idea is that a vehicle, such as a tank or artillery tank etc has been disabled in combat and CSAT have discovered it, they have teams in the area and are trying to get it operational again. The players must take out all CSAT forces and acquire a repair specialist to repair it. When repaired reward would be given to the players.

Chutnut reacted to GrandBravo in New game-mode idea: SpecOps - Mission
    Hi all,

It always interest me how carefree everyone can play the missions on AWE and I&A. Side mission secure, return to base and rearm. AO complete, return to base and rearm. Its a complete back and forth activity with minimal pressure and excitement. Sometimes something interesting happens but those situations are mostly Zeus interactions. That's why I came up with this idea to make players scratch their heads and improvise on the spot. I've been working on this idea for quite a while but I have minimal to no programming experience in Arma 3. I'm hoping that AW will look at it and might consider this as a new game-mode to make AhoyWorld stand out compared to other Arma 3 communities.

    Idea/story-line:
SpecOps, works in unknown territory. Gathering intel, securing or executing objectives. There are around 5 missions active (see it as side missions on I&A). Each mission is different form the other. Secure a chopper, destroy a radio tower, execute an officer, save a hostage... you name it. Some missions can be succeeded very easily (execute an officer, sniper team just kills him). But some missions may contain intel that you can find on the spot. These intel packages can trigger a random mission nearby that might be time based (a hostage is going to be executed within 10 minutes, rescue him!) or story based (We're known of general Copey's location, get him before he relocates!). This forces you to improvise because RTB might take too long. The Marine's are there to support the SpecOps if shit hits the fan, extracting the SpecOps/hostage/VIP or take care of secondary missions. The main goal of this idea is to put pressure on you and your teammates where critical decisions are made on the spot and RTB is not the next task after a mission.

    Start-up:
I can understand that this might be quite a challenge to program. That's why I suggest to start in steps. AW already have tons of scripts and programming experience due to the I&A and AWE servers. It might be possible to setup a trail server to test the basic and obtaining the opinion of the community. Divide the map in 4 a 5 sectors (like you guys did with the FOB's and the AO spawning near that FOB) and spawn in each sector a so called "side-mission". If that side mission in that sector is complete, a new side mission will spawn nearby. AW obtain most of the scripts to complete this idea, they just need some tweaking. The collecting of intel in these mission (further explained in the Idea/Story-line) would be excluded in the beginning just to monitor server performance and game experience. After reviewing the community opinion about this idea, further steps can be initiated like adding the intel related factors and more mission idea's.

    Server settings: (optional)
    Mission time-based: Continuously (Game night)
Accessibility: AW members (can be public of course but fear lone-wolfing attitude)
Map: Tanoa (due to the density of the forest and theme)
    Enemies: Rebels
    Mods: None
    Player count: 20 - 25
    - Pilots: 2
    - UAV/Commander: 1
    - SpecOp team: 6
    - Recon team (snipers): 2 (1 sniper, 1 spotter)
    - Marine squad: 10 - 12

    Optional/secondary idea's:
    - If you have infiltrated an objective, a random event can occur where (for example) a jeep with a few guys (unaware what is going on) approach the objective. Forcing you to get out of there quickly and miss critical intel or risk being engaging in a fire fight.
    - Mission location divided in 4 a 5 sectors (top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right, middle), each sector can obtain a special character that the SpecOps team is trying to hunt down.
    - Add civilians to some missions for experience game play/realism/intel gathering.
    - Destroying ammo crates on side mission will lower gear quality of up following missions in that sector. [24-7-17]
    - I got a script where you can go undercover as a civilian and not be detected as a hostile. So maybe 2 slots for like CIA? [24-7-17]
    - *To be continued*

Please give this idea a think-over and I hope that you guys get my vision. Its all a concept so don't assume that whats post here is a must. Additional ideas are welcome as always but lets keep this post clean for now and add suggestions in the steps beyond.

    Hello everyone,
My name is Max but most of you know me as SYNSYN or SYN or Scottish Watermelon or just Watermelon (Personally I prefer Watermelon but who cares)

I live in Aberdeen, Scotland (my whole lift not just 10 minutes of it ;D)
I work in the construction industry full time so my activity is average and I have played on enhanced since FEB/MARCH time. I have over 3500 hours on Arma 3 and have played on it for a good part of my teenage years I love all the different mods, vehicles and servers and up to recently I spent a majority of my time between Arma 3 life servers and GMOD SWRP but this year my interest has peaked towards MILSIM.

I have quite a lot of experience in Arma as a staff member I have owned/ran a couple communities but I have played on hundereds from Arma 2 onwards.

I can be helpful and offer support if people need it but I also can be a Watermelon hence my favourite nickname being Watermelon I tend to hate other people online who think highly of themself and act egotistical or think they are better then most and I speak my thoughts without hestitation which can get my in trouble but so be it. If I have pissed people off in the past I apoligise but I do not take it back if it was justified but if Im wrong tell me. Anyway thank you too the people who welcomed me and thanks for the laughs so far and here's to more,

I'm MikkoK or Mikko for short as that happens to be my first name (I'm not very creative with nicknames.) I'm a 23 years old guy from Finland, been playing on the I&A servers for a few times and now I decided to make an account in the forums as I haven't been a part of any community in a while. I like playing all kinds of simulator games and my love for them probably started with Operation Flashpoint Cold War Assault back when I was a kid. I work as a CNC-machinist in a small company and I live in a very small town here in middle of nowhere.

Hello everyone, name Stu Fletcher and I'm new to Ahoy world and the ARMA series.
I play multiple games from SC2, PUBG, Squad to name a few and now ARMA 3 must admit the controls are a bit more complex than the average game...
Cant wait to try some Invade & Annex missions with everyone in the future, I'm currently messing around with editor trying out weapons and controls. Any advice you would recommend for a complete newbie? I've downloaded the mods for AW and have been watching guides for load outs and 'roles' although i think I'll be staying away from Medic for a while! Wounded might be better off wounded if i was in charge.
