Johnson reacted to JANXOL in War for Altis - Act 2 Mission 7 Modded Zeus Ops 12.04.20 @ 16:30 UTC
Date:
12.04.2020
16:30 UTC
Expected mission length: 120+ min (might be over or under)
Act 2 - Might of the Bear
Part 7
Altian forces managed to secure Molos and surroudning area and repel the VMF landing. The Russians took great risk by deciding to commit to another area rather than reinforce existing frontline and this loss will set them back fairly significantly. Altian intelligence reports that these events were a reason for Russian high command to be extremely displeased with actions of the general who was commanding the Altis Invasion force. Displeased enough that he was relieved of his duties as commanding officer and for the time being the senior commander of the Russian force is colonel Ivan Ivanovitch "The Shark" Bukov. Despite his aggressive nature he was reportedly ordered to hold the offensive until reinforcements arrive to assure adequate advantage. Intelligence is also fairly certain that the renowned general Vsevolod Mikhailovitch Izhutin, known more widely as "Chessmaster" - currently the commander of Malden Invasion Force - has requested to take command of the Altis force. While his request was denied for now, there are strong indications that he will be put in charge of Altis force when Malden falls.
The situation on Malden is not good. The Russians are advancing slowly, but steadily, utilising every weakness of defending forces. It also seems that Chessmaster opted to increase his speed of advance to compensate for Russian failures on Altis. It is clear that despite decently sized US garrison stationed on Malden, the island won't hold for long.
On Altis, however, for the first time there is some hope for the defense of the island. The loan provided by the Americans to buy weapons from manufacturers in USA and other NATO countries allowed Altian military to start replenishing equipment losses. As shipments start arriving on the archipelago and equipment and vehicles are distributed to frontline forces, high command grows hopeful in their ability to hold off the Russians. Of course there are still substantial Russian forces at reserve which could support the invasion, it is clear by now that neither Russia nor USA are willing to commit their full might to this conflict. While NATO and Russian troops are firing upon one another, the war is viewed as more of a proxy war rather than a clash between superpowers, with both sides trying to minimize possible escalation of the conflict.
There is still the danger from Freedom forces, which for unknown reason are still opting not to move. Altian intelligence is working hard to discover their plans but there is still little information about what their intention is and what files they were trying to access on Gatekeeper servers.
As Altian high command re-evaluates the defense plans and entertains themselves with an idea of re-taking part of the territory lost to Russians, shocking news come through: Freedom forces under command of Phantom have infiltrated a top-secret, high-security meeting. Their intentions are unknown, but now the Altian prime minister, minsiter of defense and several high-ranking military personnel are being held hostage.
The Assets
Player faction: Altian special forces
Player slots: 30
- PLATCO - 4 man command element + panther command vehicle
- 3 Infantry Squads - Alpha, Bravo, Charlie - 8-man each
- Vortex - 2-man helicopter pilot team (pilot and co-pilot)
- UH-60, MH-6 and AH-6 helicopters
- Various wheeled support vehicles
The mission
Freedom troops operating under command of Phantom infiltrated a high-security meeting and taken hostages. Lives of prime minister, miniser of defense and several high-ranking military personnel are at stake. It is unkown what the intention of the enemy is - for all we know they might be planning to either kidnap or execute them. Decisive action must be taken to save the hostages and Altian special forces are sent in to deal with the situation.

Johnson reacted to GhostDragon in Ahoyworld server upgrades
Ahoy all,
Hope you are all well!
I would just like to update you on the status of the server upgrades. As you all know we have recently upgraded our primary server, Flagship. This upgrade has gone very well and we are happy with the performance increase that we have experianced.
We have Just ordered the new server that will replace Valient, the box that is currently running MSO and AWE events. This box will have the same specification as Flagship with the difference being that the server will have an extra 500GB M.2 drive. This is to allow us to accommodate the mods and modsets that the modded gamenights require and support the headless clients that we run to ease the load on the main server. We will keep you updated on the progress of these developments to the Ahoyworld infastructure!

Hello fellow AW ArmA players!
You may not have heard of us or know anything about the AWMSO, but our two groups are more alike than we think!
Myself,@kennychr and other MSO members have been thinking a lot recently about how we could attract some like-minded Arma players into the AW Multi-Session Operations. Although we have a decent turnout for most missions, we all know for a fact that it's the more the merrier when it comes to Arma, so we are cordially inviting anyone who is interested in gamenight-style missions along to join our usual MSO players for our primary weekend-campaign operations!
We know that most Arma players just like having a bit of fun in their free time and don't want to be tied to anything too serious or dedicated, so we've decided to try out a sort of "hybridisation" between our two AhoyWorld playerbases.
Anyone who is interested in these campaign-based gamenights would be more than welcome to tag along for the ride; either to simply get their fill of teamwork-oriented Arma, or to see how they like the MSO playstyle should they want to join into "the suck" more seriously.
You would be under no pressure to perform beyond any standards higher than your usual EU#2 operations, meaning that, as long as you are willing to stick to the AW rules and are happy to work as one big team, you'll fit right in.
The way it would essentially work is:
- You will join into non-permanent roles ("reserve role") that you will be under no pressure to use with our mission's player-progression/campaign saving system (ALiVE).
- You will either tag along with some of the MSO members in permanent roles ("regular role") or stay in an element of your own, should you have a leader and/or sufficient numbers.
- You will be treated no differently than you would in your usual EU#2 operations and used as efficiently as every other player on the server. We'll all be kicking ass together as one combined unit.
We may also have a test-server up before the operations start for people who want to make sure their mods are working correctly and/or to have a bit of a practise.
If this sounds like something you and your friends would be interested in, shout out int he replies to this post, along with any comments or questions you may have!
This will be the first attempt to join our two groups, so we will be more than happy to receive any suggestions either before, during or after our events!
For more information about what the AhoyWorld Multi-Session Operations actually are and how to download and install the mods, please refer to this post (you guys can skip Step 1 obviously and go straight to installing the mods):
Information about our upcoming campaign (Campaign Six) can be found here:
I also took some quick screenshots from the mission which can be seen in this spoiler:

Map: Altis
Mission: ALiVE
Type: Counter-Insurgency (CoIn) / Civil War
Friendly faction: Altis Armed Forces (2017)
Enemy faction: Pro-Western Insurgents
Other faction: [Unknown]
Starting position: AAC Airfield
Starting date: 14/03/2020
Ending date: 30/05/2020
Information:
"
In an alternate-lore-reality from the vanilla ArmA 3 story; the year is 2020 and the AAF to seek no external support from neighboring superpowers or coalitions in their efforts to suppress the increasing, pro-western radicalism amongst the populus. Unlike in the vanilla game, the "Republic of Altis and Stratis" was never declared in 2015, meaning that the islands have remained a fascist dictatorship ever since. The "Military Junta of Altis and Stratis" is the ruling governmental authority on the islands and shares no motivations with the pro-western protestors to set up a democratic government, or ally with other countries. The rise in violent protest creates untold turmoil in the region and it seems that is only a matter of time before the situation makes turns for the worse. The Altis Armed Forces attempt to retain peace in their homeland, but their nationalist pride proves dangerous in such delicate times.

Johnson got a reaction from Mark T in Campaign Four [Lythium]

Friendly faction: United States Marine Corps (USMC)
Enemy faction: Middle-Eastern Insurgents
Other faction: Afghanistan National Army (ANA)
Starting position: (wip)
Starting date: 27/07/2019
Ending date: 20/08/2019

What a difference a year makes, this time last year we were looking at closing shops and now I would say we are pretty stable for at least another year
As mentioned numerous times before, thank you all for your support and long may it continue.
I would like to apologies on the delay of IA4 and its new AWE counterpart, it has taken a lot longer than we had anticipated due to a number of reasons. (real life) Hopefully it wont be too long now.
Lastly, This will be my last update, I have decided that I will call it time come the end of this month and step down from the staff team completely.
I just want to thank each and everyone of you for your support especially those in the staff team and to those that brought me in, helped me along the way and trusted me at the top, thank you, you know who you are ❤️
Over and out x

Johnson reacted to Jenkins in is this comunity stil alive?
I'd say @Minipily gave a pretty solid answer to your question.
Unfortunately, a lot of different Arma 3 communities are experiencing similiar dry spell situations, it isn't purely reserved to Ahoyworld. The main contributing factor is that Arma 3 is becoming dated, and naturally, players will move on to other games.
Ahoyworld is recovering though, thanks to the re-introduction of EU2 and the MSO missions ran by the Enhanced team.
Hopefully once I&A4 is pushed out, full focus can be put into the release of AWE which I'm sure a lot of the oldies and newcomers will enjoy.
You can check out highlights from MSO missions on @Johnson's channel:

Johnson reacted to kennychr in Operation Talon
USMC Force recon marines are conducting COIN supported by ANA forces in the region of Lythium situated near the Pakistani and Iraqi border.
Local insurection from the Taliban are high and have requested support and mentoring from the US forces. Our detachment is small and is best
suited for small kinetic operations but can be expanded upon by requesting support from nearby local and Nato forces.
Our toolset also includes the ability to search and dismantle IEDs,VBIEDs and other small EOD tasks. Our focus should be with interacting with the locals to ensure good standings with US and Afghani forces.
ROE is to not fire unless fired upon as the areas that are outside city centers and the greenzone may have civilans that carry guns for self defence or is used for hunting.
