Information:

"
In an alternate-lore-reality from the vanilla ArmA 3 story; the year is 2020 and the AAF to seek no external support from neighboring superpowers or coalitions in their efforts to suppress the increasing, pro-western radicalism amongst the populus. Unlike in the vanilla game, the "Republic of Altis and Stratis" was never declared in 2015, meaning that the islands have remained a fascist dictatorship ever since. The "Military Junta of Altis and Stratis" is the ruling governmental authority on the islands and shares no motivations with the pro-western protestors to set up a democratic government, or ally with other countries. The rise in violent protest creates untold turmoil in the region and it seems that is only a matter of time before the situation makes turns for the worse. The Altis Armed Forces attempt to retain peace in their homeland, but their nationalist pride proves dangerous in such delicate times.

OPERATIONS ORDER 28032020

Spoiler

Orientation: You are currently located at ARES-2 HQ. The Area of interest is the NW region of Altis with the AO being the regions around the city of Kavala (see attachment 1). The terrain is arid with mountainous regions as well as flatlands and a large part of the AO consisting of urban environments.  The weather is mostly sunny and warm.

1.      Situation

a.       Enemy: The enemy consist of well-trained militia in groups ranging from a pair up to 12-man teams equipped with various weapon platforms and static weapons as well as armed light vehicles. Their recent activities included IED attacks, recruiting civilians and conducting attacks on the local police. To keep up their activities the enemy has to defend his sphere of influence. Therefore, his most likely course of action is to conduct strikes against AAF forces and attacks against locals to cause fear and force them to join them.

b.       Friendly: ARES HQ is located at grid 147165 and is commanding ARES-1 and ARES-2 COIN-OPs. ARES-1 is located at grid 174131 and is currently conducting COIN-OPs and securing the NE region of Altis. ARES HQ provides general support if available and can be reached via Ares-2 “Homeland”.

2.      Mission: We will conduct patrols and show of force in the defined AO (attachment 1), to show the civilians that AAF still has control. Gather intelligence from any willing to share information about the insurgents. This is to map out any enemy presence so that we can neutralize it before they gain too much traction.

3.      Execution

a.       Commanders Intent: To localize and neutralize insurgents within the defined AO, we will follow the overall plan of ARES HQ to patrol the area and conduct COIN-OPs. As their grip on the region results out of sparking fear in the local population, we will exploit this by disrupting their operations and showing the civilians that we are still in control of the situation. This should lead to the area being cleared of enemy units and installations, thus allowing friendly forces to gain an important foothold.

b.       Concept of operations: We will gather intelligence and patrol the area to show the locals that we are with them. The Platoon will split up into three squads and one air-element for this operation. Two squads will be the spearhead for conducting frontal attacks and one squad will be providing support and rear security. Resupplies and CASEVACs will be coordinated by the squad that is leading the operation and will be realised by the air-element.

c.       Tasks:

                                                   i.      ARES-2-1: Patrol and neutralize any insurgent activities inside of the defined AO (see attachment 1). Check up on towns already visited to make sure that insurgents haven’t taken them back

ii.      ARES-2-3: Support ARES 2-1 in their task.

iii.      ARES-2-4: Provide fire-support for the operation within the defined AO (see attachment 1).

iv.      Phobos-1: Provide transport, casualty evacuation when needed as well as recon and CAS when needed.

The detail planning will be left up to the individual squad leaders. If the need arises to divert, orders will come over radio.

d.       Coordinating instructions: The OPORDER will be in effect at 0630 with latest time for movement from ARES-2 HQ being 0650. The ROE will be return fire only. Any civilian crowds are to be dispersed and any civilians that aren’t complying are to be warned. If they still won’t comply a warning shot is to be fired and if they still won’t comply, they can be disbursed by force. If they will continue to not comply, they can be seen as hostile and be neutralized.

4.      Administration and logistics:

a.       Administration:
Friendly units: Friendly wounded soldiers are to be stabilized in the field and sent back to ARES-2 HQ by CASEVAC if severely injured. Dead friendly soldiers are to be left in the field but shall be communicated to Homeland.
Civilians: Wounded civilians are to be treated on spot if possible. Otherwise Homeland is to be contacted. Dead civilians must be communicated to Homeland.
Enemies: Dead enemies are to be left in the field as well as injured enemies unless it seems advantageous to take them as EPWs in which case they are to be stabilized in the field and transported back to ARES-2 HQ. Though this must be arranged with Homeland first.
CASEVAC: All CASEVACs must be arranged with Homeland and will either be realized with vehicles returning to ARES-2 HQ or by Phobos-1.

b.       Logistics: Everyone will move with their designated combat gear. Supplies and designated vehicles as well as helicopters for transport are available at ARES-2 HQ. If resupplies are needed in the field, Homeland is to be contacted to arrange a transport by either Phobos-1 or an airdrop by ARES HQ.

5.      Command and Signal

a.       Signal: Hand and arm signals can always be used as well as voice commands.
Radio-communication will be according to the COMPLAN.
Pyrotechnics and signals will be as follows:
Green is friendly forces
Red is enemy forces
Purple is casualty
Yellow is designated LZ

b.       Command: Homeland will be at ARES-2 HQ or if elsewhere the grid will be shared with the SLs. If Homeland is incapacitated or otherwise unavailable command falls to 2-1

OPERATIONS ORDER 04042020

Spoiler

Orientation: You are currently located at ARES-2 HQ at grid 116119. The Area of interest is the NW region of Altis with the AO again being Kavala and the regions around the city (see attachment 1).
The terrain is arid with mountainous regions as well as flatlands and a large part of the AO consisting of urban environments. The weather is mostly sunny and warm and is not expected to impact our capabilities in any way.
Though as the area is highly populated the usage of artillery, CAS, HMGs and explosives is heavily limited. Additionally, the usage of vehicles in the city requires high attention due to the potential for ambushes.
Key areas in the AO are the Kastro, offering an important OP and control of the harbour, the hospital, offering a good OP and a landing pad for helicopters, as well as the Power Plant, offering control to the whole power-grid of the AO. Because of their strategic and ideological meaning, we expect that all these positions are being controlled by the enemy.

1.      Situation

a.       Enemy: The enemy consist of well-trained militia in groups ranging from a pair up to 12-man teams equipped with various weapon platforms and static weapons as well as armed light vehicles. We do suspect the enemy of utilizing an artillery-piece at the Kastro in Kavala and from the power plant again. The main enemy presence is estimated to be in the southern half of the AO as we already made a quick sweep of the northern part. Though the enemy managed to push us back southwards from the power plant and could’ve already reinforced their lost positions.
Their recent activities included IED attacks, recruiting civilians and conducting attacks on the local police. To keep up their activities the enemy must defend his sphere of influence. Therefore, his most likely course of action is to conduct strikes against AAF forces, attacks against locals to cause fear and force them to join them and defend his positions at all costs.

2.      Mission: As we encountered heavy contacts in the region, we will again conduct patrols and show of force in the defined AO (attachment 1), to show the civilians that AAF still has control. We will also gather intelligence from any willing to share information about the insurgents. This is to further map out any enemy presence so that we can neutralize it before they gain too much traction.

3.      Execution

a.       Commanders Intent: To continue to localize and neutralize insurgents within the defined AO, we will follow the plan of ARES HQ to patrol the area and conduct COIN-OPs. As their grip on the region results out of sparking fear in the local population, we will exploit this by disrupting their operations and showing the civilians that we are still in control of the situation. For this it is crucial to secure the power plant, hospital and Kastro in the region. This should lead to the area being cleared of enemy units and installations, thus allowing friendly forces to gain one of the most important footholds on the island.

b.       Concept of operations: We will gather intelligence and patrol the area to show the locals that we are with them. Furthermore, we will secure the designated key areas. The Platoon will split up into three squads and one air-element for this operation. Two squads will be the spearhead for conducting frontal attacks and one squad will be providing support and rear security.                                                iv.      Phobos-1: Provide transport, casualty evacuation when needed as well as recon and CAS when needed.

The detail planning will be left up to the individual squad leaders. If the need arises to divert, orders will come over radio.

d.       Coordinating instructions:
Timeline: The OPORDER will be in effect at 0630 and gear checks should be done by 0645 with latest time for movement from ARES-2 HQ being 0650.

If they still won’t comply a warning shot is to be fired and if they still won’t comply, they can be disbursed by force. OPERATIONS ORDER 11042020

Spoiler

Orientation: You are currently located at ARES-2 HQ at grid 116119. The Area of interest is the NW region of Altis with the AO again being the city of Kavala (see attachment 1).
The terrain is arid with mountainous regions as well as flatlands and most of the AO consisting of urban environments.
Key areas in the AO are the Kastro (Objective Kilo), offering an important OP and control of the harbour and the hospital (Objective Hotel), offering a good OP and a landing pad for helicopters.

We do suspect the enemy of utilizing an artillery-piece at the Kastro in Kavala again.
Additionally, in this AO we must be exceptionally wary of the enemy employing a “burned ground” strategy where he destroys everything he cannot defend.

b.       Friendly: ARES Company HQ is located at grid 147165 and is commanding ARES-1 and ARES-2 COIN-OPs. ARES-1 is located at grid 174131 and is currently conducting COIN-OPs and securing the NE region of Altis. ARES Company HQ provides general support if available and ARES-2-2 can provide direct support if needed. Both can be reached via ARES-2 “Homeland”.

2.      Mission: As the city of Kavala is the second most important city on the island and we encountered heavy contacts in the region, we will again conduct attacks on the enemies positions, patrols and show of force in the defined AO (attachment 1), to drive the enemy away and to show the civilians that AAF still has control. We will also gather intelligence from any willing to share information about the insurgents. This is to further map out any enemy presence so that we can neutralize it before they gain too much traction.

3.      Execution

a.       Commanders Intent: To continue to localize and neutralize insurgents within the defined AO, we will follow the plan of ARES Company HQ to patrol the area and conduct COIN-OPs. As their grip on the region results out of sparking fear in the local population, we will exploit this by disrupting their operations and showing the civilians that we are still in control of the situation. For this it is crucial to secure the Kastro (Objective Kilo and hospital (Objective Hotel) in the region. This should lead to the area being cleared of enemy units and installations, thus allowing friendly forces to gain one of the most important footholds on the island.

b.       Concept of operations: We will secure the designated key areas. Furthermore, we will gather intelligence and patrol the area to show the locals that we are with them. The Platoon will split up into three squads and one air-element for this operation. Two squads will be the spearhead for conducting frontal attacks and one squad will be providing support. Resupplies and CASEVACs will be coordinated by ARES-2 “Homeland” and the squad that is leading the operation in the field and will be realised by the air-element.

The operation will be conducted in 5 steps:

                                                   i.      Preparation Phase:
(See attachment 1 & 2). Each unit will make sure they have the designated gear with them and conduct radio checks. When all elements are ready, they will be deployed to the assembly area at grid 107109 where they will set up 360° security.
The units will mount their designated boats and drive towards the attack position at grid 017114.

                                                 ii.      Conduct Phase Kilo:
(See attachment 2). The units will cross the line of departure and move to the assault position at grid 029130. From there an envelope attack will be conducted with one element supressing the enemy at Objective Kilo, the remaining elements aggressively trying to breach the compound and the suppressing element slowly moving up behind them. While the spearheading elements will clear the objective, the element following behind will set up a hasty defensive position facing east to prevent enemies overrunning our forces in the compound.
After securing the compound enemies are to be pursued by fire and a consolidation at the objective is to be made by setting up further hasty defensive positions facing south and north-west.
When defences are set up, the units are to be reorganized and according to the intel that can be gathered from the current position, further planning for assaulting Objective Hotel and clearing the northern part of the AO is to be made.
If possible, the Objective will be reinforced by a friendly element alongside with supplies being brought in and possible CASEVACs being conducted.

                                               iii.      Conduct Phase Hotel:
(See attachment 2). From Objective Kilo the units will then proceed through the city and attack Objective Hotel according to the previously made attack plan.
When the compound is secured the units will pursue the enemy with fire and consolidate again by setting up a hasty 360° security.
Following this the units will reorganize and according to the intel that can be gathered from the current position, further planning for clearing the southern part of the AO is to be made.
If possible, the Objective will be reinforced by a friendly element alongside with supplies being brought in.

                                               iv.      Conduct Phase South:
(See attachment 2). From Objective Hotel the units will then proceed southwards through the city to drive the remaining enemies out of the area.
When the southern part is cleared the units will consolidate and reorganize again while planning their recovery.

                                                 v.      Recovery Phase:
(See attachment 1 & 2). The units will either return to base with their boats if feasible or will otherwise be picked up by friendly forces.

c.       Tasks:

                                                   i.      ARES-2-1: Secure the designated Objectives and neutralize any insurgent activities inside of the defined AO (see attachment 1).

If the need arises to divert, orders will come over radio.

d.       Coordinating instructions: The OPORDER will be in effect at 0630 and gear checks should be done by 0645 with latest time for movement from ARES-2 HQ being 0650.

OPERATIONS ORDER 18042020

Spoiler

Orientation: You are currently located at ARES-2 HQ at grid 116119. The Area of interest is the NW region of Altis with the AO being the region from Fotia up to Oreokastro and its castle (see attachment 1).
The terrain is a mountainous region with lush forests. The only inhabited area, apart from a few scattered houses, is the village of Oreokastro. The weather is mostly sunny and warm and is not expected to impact our capabilities in any way.
Key areas in the AO are the village of Oreaokastro (Objective Kilo) and the castle just north of it (Objective Charlie). The populace was mostly driven away by the enemy and the remaining civilians are either kept there against their will or are collaborating with the enemy.

1.      Situation

a.       Enemy: The enemy consist of well-trained militia in groups ranging from single stragglers and scouts to up to 12-man teams equipped with various weapon platforms and static weapons as well as armed light vehicles. According to our intelligence the enemy has heavily fortified Objective Kilo and is utilizing emplacements at Objective Charlie, though we don’t know of what kind, but we suspect it to be at least one AAA.
As they just recently suffered great losses due to our efforts, the remaining enemies in the region have all retreated to the area around Objective Kilo using a smuggling route and are now trying to make a last stance there. Because of this we do suspect that the enemy is highly prepared for an attack, has mined all roads in the vicinity and is employing scouts to prevent surprise attacks. Henceforth his most likely course of action will be to delay us as much as possible and fight to the death as he has no option for retreat. Because of the enemy’s cruelty we observed in Kavala we do suspect the enemy to use the remaining civilians as subjects for negotiations and as human shields. Furthermore, we do expect single enemies to drop their weapons and try to disguise as captive civilians to either conduct suicide attacks or to flee the battle.

2.      Mission: As the village of Oreokastro and its surroundings are the last enemy stronghold of the region it is mandatory to crush him there as soon as possible to prevent him from further reinforcing his positions or retreating to a different region and joining another terrorist cell.

3.      Execution

a.       Commanders Intent: To neutralize all insurgents within the defined AO and retrieve as much intel as we can, we will follow the plan of ARES Company HQ and conduct a quick attack on the enemy’s position. As they suffered major losses, had little time to prepare, are likely demoralized and their grip on the region results out of sparking fear in the civilian population, we will exploit this by aggressively attacking their last stronghold and destroying all the remains of this terrorist cell to show the civilians that we are still very much in control of the situation. For this it is crucial to secure the village of Oreokastro (Objective Kilo) and the castle just north of it (Objective Charlie). This should lead to the area being cleared of enemy units and installations, thus ending the enemy’s operations in the north-western region of the republic. Moreover, as the enemy had not much time to destroy his intel, we hope that we can secure valuable pieces to get a better picture of the operations of the cells operating in the other regions of Altis.

b.       Concept of operations: We will secure the designated key areas and gather intelligence.
Because major roads cannot be used as the enemy has heavily mined them, we will be inserted by helicopter. Furthermore, an insert close to the objectives by air cannot be done, as the enemy is suspected to utilize AAA there. Therefore, we will trace the enemy’s footsteps up the smugglers route as here he had the least time to prepare defences.

The operation will be conducted in 4 steps:

                                                   i.      Preparation Phase:
(See attachment 1). Each unit will be briefed and conduct gear and radio checks. When all elements are ready, they will move to the designated assembly area which is Staging Area 2 at ARES-2 HQ. The units will then board the designated helicopter and will be deployed to Attack Position 1 at grid 030184 where last checks are to be conducted.

                                                 ii.      Conduct Phase:
(See attachment 1 & 2). The units will cross the line of departure and move N/NE to the Squad Release Point 1 at grid 042205 where a quick reorganization is to be made. On the way it is imperative to not get pinned down but to keep aggressively pushing forward. All enemy contacts are to be neutralized if possible but IEDs are to be avoided and communicated to ARES-2 “Homeland”.

From the Squad Release Point 1 the supporting squad will move to Assault Position 1 at grid 045206 and set up a base of fire for a mortar as well as an MMG.
Meanwhile the spearheading squads will move to Assault Position 2 at grid 048209 to recon the objectives and further plan the attack.

When a weakpoint has been identified the elements at Assault Position 2 may conduct a frontal attack with fire support and suppressive fire from the element at Assault Position 1. The fire support shall already destroy most of the enemy presence and emplacements at Objective Charlie to open up the airspace for CAS. When no more support is possible or desired, the element at Assault Position 1 will move towards Objective Kilo to further assist in the attack.

                                               iii.      Exploitation Phase:
(See attachment 2). When the village has been taken, the squad with the highest combat effectiveness immediately must continue the attack and secure Objective Charlie. Meanwhile the remaining elements shall pursue any retreating enemies by fire while a quick consolidation is to be made and a hasty 360° security is to be set up with emphasis to the East, as we do expect a possible enemy counterattack from there.

When Objective Charlie is secured, the respective squad shall pursue any retreating enemies by fire while a quick consolidation is to be made and a hasty 360° security is to be set up as well.

When the enemy presence dies down, every civilian in the city is to be arrested and the city to be searched for intel.

                                               iv.      Recovery Phase:
(See attachment 2). The recovery of the employed units from the vicinity of Objective Kilo will be organized by ARES-2 “Homeland” and conducted by the designated air-element.

c.       Tasks:

                                                   i.      ARES-2-1: Secure the designated objectives and neutralize any insurgent activities inside of the defined AO (see attachment 1). Arrest any civilians in the Objectives and search the area for intel.

d.       Coordinating instructions: The OPORDER will be in effect at 0630 and gear checks should be done by 0645 with latest time for movement from ARES-2 HQ being 0650.
Any civilians in the objectives shall be arrested.

4.      Administration and logistics:

Friendly units: Friendly wounded soldiers are to be stabilized in the field and sent back to ARES-2 HQ by CASEVAC if severely injured. Dead friendly soldiers are to be left in the field but shall be communicated to Homeland.
Civilians: Wounded civilians are to be treated on spot if possible. Otherwise Homeland is to be contacted to arrange treatment.
CASEVAC: All CASEVACs must be arranged with Homeland and will be realized by Phobos-1.

b.       Logistics: Everyone will move with their designated combat gear. Supplies and designated vehicles as well as helicopters for transport are available at ARES-2 HQ. OPERATIONS ORDER 25042020

Spoiler

Orientation: You are currently located at the castle north of Oreokastro at grid 048219. The Area of interest is the NW region of Altis with the AO being the region from Oreokastro to Abdera (see attachment 1).
The terrain is a mountainous region with lush forests. The only inhabited area, apart from a few scattered houses, is Abdera. The weather is mostly sunny and warm and is not expected to impact our capabilities in any way.
Key areas in the AO are the village Faro and town of Abdera.

1.      Situation

a.       Enemy: The enemy in the region is disorganized and scattered. We do have no further intel on composition or equipment but suspect small fireteams or scouts remaining in the area, trying to regroup with remaining cells in the other parts of Altis. Because of their thinned numbers the enemy will most likely avoid direct confrontations and try to withdraw if given the chance. Therefore, their most likely course of action is to mine the area to slow our progress down.

2.      Mission: We just received word at 0615 that an intelligence officer, by the callsign of “Hermes” in the nearby village of Faros gathered intel that needs to be acted up on immediately. Therefore, we will link up with him and plan our next steps.

3.      Execution

a.       Commanders Intent: To neutralize all insurgents within the defined AO and retrieve as much intel as we can, we will follow the plan of ARES Company HQ and conduct COIN-OPs and gather intelligence. As we destroyed the north-western cell, the remaining forces are scattered and further demoralized. We will try to hunt down these last remaining stragglers in the region to show the civilians that we are still very much in control of the situation.

b.       Concept of operations: We will patrol to the village of Faros, link up with “Hermes” and then plan our next steps.
Because major roads are still heavily mined, we will need to move carefully and try to remove any mines we come across, if possible to ensure the safety of reinforcements and the civilian population.

c.       Tasks:

                                                   i.      ARES-2-1: Link up with “Hermes” and neutralize any insurgent activities inside of the defined AO (see attachment 1).

If the need arises to divert, orders will come over radio.

d.       Coordinating instructions: The OPORDER will be in effect at 0615 and gear checks should be done by 0625 with latest time for movement from ARES-2s current location being 0630. Any civilians in the objectives shall be arrested.

4.      Administration and logistics:

Otherwise Homeland is to be contacted to arrange treatment.
CASEVAC: All CASEVACs must be arranged with Homeland and will be realized by Phobos-1.

b.       Logistics: Everyone will move with their designated combat gear. Supplies and designated vehicles as well as helicopters for transport are available at ARES-2 HQ. If resupplies are needed in the field, Homeland is to be contacted to arrange a transport by either Phobos-1 or an airdrop by ARES Company HQ.

5.      Command and Signal

a.       Signal: Hand and arm signals can always be used as well as voice commands.

OPERATIONS ORDER 02052020

Spoiler

Orientation: You are currently located at ARES-2 HQ at grid 116119. The Area of interest is the central-northern region of Altis with the AO being the region around the city of Galati (see attachment 1).
The terrain is arid and consist of foothills and flatlands. The area is sparsely populated with the cities of Galati at grid 103190, Syrta at grid 086182 and Abdera at grid 094202 as well as several small villages. The weather is mostly sunny and warm and is not expected to impact our capabilities in any way.
Key areas in the AO are the abandoned FOB Argus Panoptes at grid 0993193 and the afore mentioned towns.

1.      Situation

a.       Enemy: The enemy in the region is estimated to be disorganized and scattered but there are indications that we are dealing with another cell that operates in the central parts of the republic. We do have no further intel on composition or equipment but suspect at least small fireteams or scouts. Because of their thinned numbers the enemy will most likely avoid direct confrontations and try to withdraw if given the chance, but he will try to defend key areas. Therefore, their most likely course of action is to slow our progress down and conduct guerrilla operations.

Furthermore, the intelligence operative “Hermes” is deployed within our AO.

2.      Mission: As our previous operation alongside “Hermes” revealed the possible existence of a different cell in central Altis, we are trying to validate this information to get a track on the terrorists. To achieve this, a trade between Hermes and an insurgent defector has been organized in the town of Galati, that we are to overlook to ensure the safety of Hermes and the successful acquisition of the promised intelligence. Furthermore, we will try to act upon the intelligence immediately.

3.      Execution

a.       Commanders Intent: To neutralize all insurgents within the defined AO and retrieve as much intel as we can, we will follow the plan of ARES Company HQ and conduct COIN-OPs and gather intelligence. As the enemy is fighting a loosely organized guerrilla war and now partially demoralized due to ongoing losses, we will try to exploit that by acquiring intelligence from defectors to specifically interrupt their operation and hunt down the terrorists to show the civilians that we are still very much in control of the situation. This crucial as the enemy’s tactics heavily depend on the fear of the civilian population.

b.       Concept of operations: We will be transported to the abandoned FOB Argus Panoptes at grid 099193, where we will set up to overlook a trade going on in the town of Galati and act as a QRF. To ensure an operational state of the FOB we will need to bring static weapons as well as Ares-2-4s Equipment with us.
The Platoon will split up into three squads and one air-element for this operation. Two squads will be the spearhead for conducting frontal attacks and one squad will be providing support. Resupplies and CASEVACs will be coordinated by ARES-2 “Homeland” and the squad that is leading the operation in the field and will be realised by the air-element.

c.       Tasks:

                                                   i.      ARES-2-1: Set up a defensive position at FOB Argus Panoptes to act as a QRF and overlook the trade between “Hermes” and an insurgent defector in the town below. Ensure the safety of “Hermes” and the successful acquisition of the intelligence. Furthermore, stand by to act upon the intelligence to neutralize any insurgent activities inside of the defined AO (see attachment 1 & 2).

ii.      ARES-2-3: Support ARES 2-1 in their task (see attachment 1 & 2).

iii.      ARES-2-4: Provide fire-support for the operation within the defined AO (see attachment 1 & 2).

iv.      Phobos-1: Provide transport, casualty evacuation when needed as well as recon and CAS when needed (see attachment 1 & 2).

The detail planning will be left up to the individual squad leaders. If the need arises to divert, orders will come over radio.

d.       Coordinating instructions: The OPORDER will be in effect at 0615 and gear checks should be done by 0625 with latest time for movement from ARES-2s current location being 0630. The ROE will be return fire only. Any civilian crowds are to be dispersed and any civilians that are not complying are to be warned. If they still will not comply a warning shot is to be fired and if they still will not comply, they can be disbursed by force. If they will continue to not comply, they can be seen as hostile and be neutralized. Any civilians in the objectives shall be arrested.

OPERATIONS ORDER 16052020

Spoiler

ORIENTATION:
We are currently located at ARES-2 HQ / 116119. The area of interest is the central to NE region of Altis with the boundaries of our AO being as follows: To the north - the hills at 2119 an 2219, Kalithea Bay and Pefkas Bay, to the east - Almyra, to the south - Kalochori and to the west - ARES Company HQ (see attachment 1 & 2). Key areas in the AO are the Church at Agios Georgios / 203186, the deserted military base / 209192 and the large cities of Rodopoli / 188166 and Paros / 209169.

To ensure that we win back the hearts and minds of the people, we have been tasked to escort an IDAP team to Agios Georgios to set up a refugee camp there. Our escort presence is mandatory for this because threat intel suggests that our AO (Area east of CP6 / 157174) is dangerous.

Terrain and Weather: The terrain is arid and consist of foothills and flatlands. The area is quite populated with the afore mentioned large cities of Rodopoli and Paros as well as several small villages. The weather is mostly sunny and warm and is not expected to impact our capabilities in any way.

1.      SITUATION:

a.       Enemy Forces:
Composition, Disposition and Strength: The Loyalist forces in the region are estimated to consist of well-trained militia in groups ranging from a pair up to 12-man teams. They are equipped with various weapon platforms, static weapons including AAA, armed light vehicles, limited communication assets and have the ability to call for an adjust 82 mm mortars. They further appear to wear civilian clothing and worn off woodland camo.

Capabilities and Limitations: The Loyalists within the AO appear to have the massed combat power to defend key terrain. The Loyalist forces will have limited capability to reinforce quickly. Due to limited numbers the Loyalists are unlikely to attack without a tactical advantage. They can and will delay our forces in the area.

EMLCOA: Loyalist forces inside our AO prepare for an AAF offensive by setting up IEDs and ambushes to compensate for their lacking firing power and numbers and to give them the tactical advantage. On contact the Loyalists will engage AAF forces until they lose the tactical advantage.

b.      Friendly Forces:
Higher: ARES Company HQ is located at grid 147165 and is commanding ARES-1 and ARES-2 COIN-OPs to gather intelligence and disrupt the enemy operation until the enemy is forced to surrender.

Adjacent:
ARES-1: Located at ARES-1 HQ / grid 174131 and is currently conducting COIN-OPs and securing the eastern region of Altis.
HEPHAESTUS: Engineer and EOD Platoon located at ARES Company HQ.

Supporting:
ARTEMIS (CAS) General support of ARES Company at ARES Company HQ and can be reached via PL.
APOLLO (artillery) General support of ARES Company at ARES Company HQ and can be reached via PL.

c.       Attachments and Detachments:
Attached:
ARES-2-3 is attached since the start of Operation Hercules, added to the ARES-2 roster and has received the OPORDER.

Detached:
ARES-2-2 is detached since the start of Operation Hercules.
Phobos-2 is detached since the start of Operation Hercules.
Phobos-3 is detached since the start of Operation Hercules.

2.      Mission: We are to rendezvous with members of IDAP at ARES Company HQ and escort them to Agios Georgios where they will set up a refugee camp to help the civilian population. We must ensure their safety and patrol the area as a safety measure.

3.      Execution

a.       Commanders Intent:
Purpose: To neutralize all insurgents within the defined AO and retrieve as much intel as we can.

Method: The enemies centre of gravity is his small size and maneuverability, thus increasing their ability to conceal their movement and set ambushes. The enemies critical vulnerability is their inability to decisively engage larger that a squad element and their need for the (forced) support of the population. We will exploit this by aggressively patrolling to locate, isolate and systematically destroy Loyalist forces and logistics supplies within our AO and conducting show of force to show the civilians that we are still in control of the situation.

End state: The desired end state is, that the area is free of hostiles so that IDAP can do their work and that we have gained the trust of the civilian population to prevent more people from joining the Loyalists ranks.

b.      Concept of operations:
Scheme of Maneuver: The Operation will be conducted by three Squads and one air element. Resupplies and CASEVACs will be coordinated by PL and the 1st SL and will be realised by the air-element.
Insertion: (see attachment 1 - Escort Route ) - At 0630 we will stage with designated vehicles at PP1 facing NE in the following convoy order: 1st Squad, 2nd Squad, 3rd Squad. It is mandatory for the whole operation to stay on roads if possible, because of the high IED threat. When authorized by PL we will start heading towards CP1. Friendly lines will be left after about 200. At CP1 we will turn left, and at the next ASR intersection right. We will then turn right at CP2, right at CP3, left at CP4 and right at CP5 where we will enter friendly lines again. We will then proceed towards RP1, where we will link up with IDAP personal waiting with a supply truck.
Escort: (see attachment 1 - Escort Route & attachment 2) - When reaching the rendezvous point, a soft dismount will be conducted and the 1st and 2nd Squad will set up 180° security facing in the driving direction of the convoy and the 3rd squad will set up 180° security facing backwards, while the 1st SL will get in touch with the IDAP personal. The new convoy order will be as follows: 1st Squad, 2nd Squad, IDAP, 3rd Squad. When IDAP has formed up in the convoy, everyone will mount their respective vehicle again and we will move towards CP6, where we will go straight on the MSR eastwards, leave friendly lines again and enter our AO. We will then take a left onto a dirt road at CP7, go right at CP8, follow the dirt road north at CP9 and are allowed to leave the road after CP10 to move towards Agios Georgios, where we will do another soft dismount and set up 360° security as before.
Securing the AO: (see attachment 2 - Patrol Route) - When the immediate surroundings have been cleared, the 2nd and 3rd Squad will set up defensive positions around IDAP and on OP1 / 203187. The 1st Squad will start a patrol from PP1 towards CP11 / FOB Eurus. If needed this movement can be assisted by planned artillery fire on CP11 / FOB Eurus (see Fire Support Plan). When CP11 has been secured, the 1st Squad will continue east to CP12 where they will follow the MSR southwards towards CP13 / Paros and then towards CP14 / Rodopoli. From there on the 1st Squad will head back to SRP1 / Agios Georgios to regroup with the 2nd and 3rd Squad, where the squads will await further orders from PL.
Retrieving: (see attachment 1 – Return Route) - When all units have regrouped at SRP1 / Agios Georgios and are authorized by PL, we will return to base by tracing back the route we came. For this we will stage with the designated vehicles facing west at CP10 in the following convoy order: 1st Squad, 2nd Squad, 3rd Squad and when ready move towards CP9 where we fill follow the ASR north to turn left at CP8, head straight and follow the MSR westwards at CP7, follow the MSR westwards at CP6 where we will leave our AO and enter friendly lines. We will follow the MSR and turn left at CP5 where we will leave friendly lines again. We will then turn right at CP4, turn left at CP3, turn left at CP2 and follow the ASR until we hit a T-junction where we will turn left towards CP1. At CP1 we will turn right towards ARES-2 HQ and enter friendly lines again 200 m before reaching it.

Fire Support Plan:
The purpose of the fire support plan is to disrupt Loyalist forces ability to effect friendly forces with direct fire weapons to allow friendly forces to close in on Loyalist forces and gain fire superiority. There is one target we will utilize in support of our operation:

                                                               i.      Target Nr.: CP11 / FOB Eurus
Trigger:
Upon friendly forces getting pinned down while approaching
Location: 209192
Observer (Pri/Alt): 2-1 SL/2-3 SL
Delivery Asset: 82 mm or 155 mm depending on availability
Attack Guidance: HE
Communication: 01-PLTNET 1

OPERATIONS ORDER 23052020

Spoiler

ORIENTATION:
We are currently located at ARES-2 HQ / 116119. The area of interest is the central to SE region of Altis with the boundaries of our AO being as follows: To the north - Rodopoli, to the east – Chalkeia Bay, to the south – Mazi Bay and to the west – Pyrgos Gulf (see attachment 1). Key areas in the AO are cities of Charkia / 180152 and Pyrgos /167126 as well as the Selakano Airbase / 207072.

To disrupt the Loyalists operations and to show the civilians that we are still in control of the situation we will conduct a patrol in the SE part of Altis.

Terrain and Weather: The terrain is arid and consist of foothills and flatlands. The area is quite populated with the afore mentioned large cities of Charkia and Pyrgos as well as several small cities.

2.      Mission: At 0630 we are tasked to conduct a combat patrol from Charkia southwards to Selakano Airbase to disrupt the enemies operations and conduct a show of force.

3.      Execution

End state: The desired end state is, that the area is free of hostiles and that we have gained the trust of the civilian population to prevent more people from joining the Loyalists ranks.

b.      Concept of operations:
Scheme of Maneuver: The Operation will be conducted by three Squads and one air element. Resupplies and CASEVACs will be coordinated by PL and the 1st SL and will be realised by the air-element.
Insertion: (see attachment 1 - Patrol Route) - At 0630 we will stage with designated vehicles at PP1 facing NE in the following convoy order: 1st Squad, 2nd Squad, 3rd Squad. It is mandatory for the whole operation to stay on roads if possible, because of the high IED threat. When authorized by PL we will start heading towards CP1 where friendly lines will be left. We will then follow the road until we hit an ASR that we will follow until CP2. There we will turn right and follow the ASR towards CP3 where we will enter friendly lines again. We will then proceed towards CP4, where we will head straight on the MSR eastwards, leave friendly lines again and enter our AO.
Patrol: (see attachment 1 – Patrol Route & 2) We will then turn right at CP5 and follow the ASR and then the MSR south until we hit CP6 where we will turn left and follow the MSR towards CP7 where we will turn right towards CP8 where our patrol will end. We will then await orders to either stay there or return to base.

c.       Tasks:
ARES-2-1: Will act as 1st Squad, and lead the patrol of the area (see attachment 1).

ARES-2-3: Will act as 2nd Squad, support ARES 2-1 in their task to patrol the area (see attachment 1).

ARES-2-4: Will act as 3rd Squad, support ARES 2-1 in their task patrol the area and provide fire-support for the operation within the defined AO (see attachment 1).

Phobos-1: Provide transport, casualty evacuation when needed as well as recon and CAS when needed (see attachment 1).

The detail planning will be left up to the individual squad leaders. If the need arises to divert, orders will come over radio.

Actions on enemy contact: While convoying contact is to be broken until CP4.
When breaking contact the formation is to be kept if possible and all speed limits can be disregarded. After CP4, contact is to be answered with immediate assault. When returning to base all contact is to be broken again.

No Comm Plan: When losing any SR communications (AN/PRC-343) or any LR communications (AN/PRC-148) between SLs and PL at any point, the operation is to be continued out as briefed.
Upon losing any LR communications (AN/PRC-148) between SLs at any point, the operation is to be continued out as briefed. Leaders should try to regain communications between them by switching their AN/PRC-343s to block 1, channel 1.
