As much as i'd like to say that strict limitations such as what @Johnson proposed would be great, i feel like some more casual players (myself, back when i joined AWE), may enjoy dress-up warfare and a lot of different gear available. Strict limitations would result in less of those players staying, and slowly getting into the more serious game play. And while i agree that a lot of the content in the mods is left unused, players can always use that gear, while the more casual ones can stick with their loadouts.

You need to remember that AWE is most likely not going to start with 20 players playing it 24/7, therefore it may have a positive impact to allow some more lenient restrictions, hopefully resulting in more casual players from EU1 and 2, trying AWE out, additionally some casual players may be overwhelmed by more restrictions.

The server is currently down and in for a reboot when I&A4 comes out of beta. Quite a lot of us waiting for it.

Not if we beat you to it . Then again, doesn't really help gameplay to mute others on a communication based server, but I guess we'll stick to being the usual suspects. Everyone needs someone to blame.

Anyhow. As mentioned by lost bullet, this is a thread that comes up once every year or so. Looking forward to se the result and if we can meet on awe again. New guys and old. (Even you two mini and jonson, if it gets overhand I’ll just mute on ts )

It makes me giggle that even before I joined EU3 (it was called that way before) this was the main discussion. Years have passed and nothing has changed! haha

Your all way too kind , we all knew Jeff as a great dude and will be missed by all in this community you are apart of, I apologize for his sudden departure and as his roommate and best friend. Awww the visuals are very nice, but I've gotten so used to the JSRS gun sounds that it's hard to live without!

Protect your ears: audio on AWE just got that tad bit better.
 
For those who want it.
 
After a successful trial run of both DS & ES, we've decided to keep the keys on the server as entirely client-side mods. This is optional and not a requirement, so if you prefer the default sounds or your machine can't handle the modded ones, nothing will change for you.
 
For now, the installation of Dynasound 2 and Enhanced Soundscape lies entirely in your hands. You can find them on the Steam Workshop here and here.
We explicitly do not support these mods. If your FPS tanks, especially when using ES, that's an issue you will have to deal with yourself. Still, feel free to report and troubleshoot for the community's benefit.

Today i had a very relaxed and nice talk with some guys who played here in the past.
We have had a talk about diffrent subjects regarding past and the present and Baconmop, Josh and Oderus were so kind to give back the ahoy steam account with the following promise from me to him:

This is true but it's a select few situations that caused a little frustration for a little players and they thought they'd explain it, nothing wrong with that. I believe it's all been smoothed over now with Ryko's new version of Stilletto, so with hope, no reason why one wouldn't do as instructed.

Find a way to play toghether. I’ll be mad if we loose more players than we already did due to some fucking new super ideas which few seem to care about. Jesus Christ. Can we just fucking get along at something sometimes?

And to be honest, i think its already solved. Some people gone, taking a break or went somewhere else, i hope everybody is doing the right thing to get a good time. You can do it here, im happily to provide, you can go somewhere else if you want to and find something better, i said the same to my ex-wife..., rest is history and we both happy now.

We have some news for you! There will be a change within the leadership of ahoyworld. Effective today, I am stepping down as leader of Ahoyworld, and handing the reigns over to PiranhA. There are a variety of reasons for this transition, which I'll get into, but I will say that this has not been a snap decision: We have had many meetings with PiranhA over the past few weeks with an eye to leadership transition, as we on the Core Staff wanted to be sure the future of Ahoyworld would be guaranteed, with progress being made in the process.
 
I'll explain why Core Staff came to this decision of putting a fish in charge of the boat.
 
As a bit of background, the majority of the current members of Core Staff have been running Ahoyworld for a long time, and things in their real lives have been taking precedence over pushing Ahoyworld along to make it an interesting, exciting community to play games. We've kept the motor running and paid the bills, but there hasn't been a lot of time left over to make it a better place.
 
In short, some new blood is needed at the tiller. PiranhA has the confidence of Core Staff to keep a firm hand into new waters, as well as to keep the ship in the right direction (to maximize the amount of naval analogies). We trust him to handle the community like it is one of his kids, as we see Ahoyworld a child of our own. PiranhA has been a constant Ahoyworld supporter and has really stepped up over the years, going above and beyond his role as just an administrator in Ahoyworld: some of you may recall he assisted in hosting the Ahoyworld meetup in Holland in 2016.
 
We hope everybody will give PiranhA a warm welcome and help him to adjust to his new position. To ease him into the position, we are going to have a long transition period: while the people in the current Core Staff positions will eventually change, for now, everyone is staying on board in their respective capacity to ensure that PiranhA gets up to speed and is supported in the best manner possible. PiranhA has a lot of great ideas for the future direction of Ahoyworld: We have been talking through and thinking about within the Core Staff and see his plans as very ambitious, but achievable. For myself, I will still be very much firmly attached to Ahoyworld, but I will be spending more time on development of both the public and modded missions.
 
From a player's point of view - you probably won't notice any change to your gaming experience.
 
As a final word about this transition: We are well aware that over the past few days there has been alot of unrest within the community. It's important to note that this transition is coincidental with those recent events, these discussions about transition have been ongoing for several months.
 
Another change we want to highlight is the return of David (Muckduck) to Core Staff: we've needed another body to help out with communications, and as David has done this in the past, we're confident he'll be a great fit in this role.
