Schubz reacted to JJ Cakes in Request: Reduced weapons sway on I&A, No mods edition
I'm making a custom Zeus mission to eventually run on AWE and previously I was using a weapons sway reduction mod off Armaholic until someone tipped me off to this SQF command:

    player setCustomAimCoef 0.15;
No mods needed, will work in Vanilla and that coefficient seems like a nice balance to me.  The bigger the number, the closer to vanilla behavior (1.00).  There's still weapons sway, it's just reduced to a manageable/non-annoyance level and the decay on the effect seems faster.  You can move 5 or 10m without going straight back into the full sway mode.

** brushes off the dust settled on his Forum account ***

    Hi there guys,

    It's been a long while.

My name is Stuart and Ahoyworld was my life for 2 straight years before my uni. I remember the great times this community gave me almost every day playing EU3 and later AWE. It was amazing. Being known as a horrible shot I almost always flew transport and to this day it remains one of my fondest memories, shuttling troops to and from as Vortex 1 or 2 and later Angel 1 and 2. I remember that flying formation as two aircraft was the most rewarding and fun thing to do at the time.

Well, with my uni starting I had to sadly take a step back from Arma as a whole and while I still played games, I never had the time to dedicate and come back. Until now.
While the community seems to have evolved and had many ups and downs (atleast from what I could see by every so often stalking the forums) I am so happy to still see it around 6 years after I joined. (Atleast thats what my TS account is claiming, (22/01/2015) baby!).

Eventhough I do not expect to experience the same gameplay I had back then, I am happy to be able to dedicate atleast some time back to Arma and there is no other community I feel I could be happier joining again.

So hello everyone, new and old. I hope I can come chat with you on TS and maybe even see you around on the battlefield. The constant missions running currently seem totally cool!

    Until then!
    Stuart

A pic I uploaded to the forum in 2017. I remember this! I just graduated highschool at the time. Totally crazy to still see it on the website in the gallery.

We made a lot of great progress tonight, but right as we were about to move to the second main objective the server either died or restarted. Here are a few pictures marking the, what I would assume to be unsaved, progress:

Again with all respect, there is a confirmation bias here, I literally wrote " Everything is fine for me until this part but: I see the exact same abuse that is being done with armors. They use their HE or AP missiles to kill Every EI they can see or destroy every building in objective area." just after that sentence. Please carefully read.

This is where my question refers to. Should players use their overpowered tools until the last drop where it begins to steal fun from their "Co-Op" Team members?

Please, Please pretty Please. Read it again clearly. I have literally stated they should be allowed to engage infantry who are carrying AT. I respect the fact that you served in military, But again that is not the case I am referring to.

I felt the need of clarifying this part particularly. I believe I do not have enough reputation within old members of AW. It has been around ONE whole year that I am one of the most active players of 2020, in EU1. I do know every system, every script, every slot, every bugs that a player played in 2020 can ever know. I can even memorize how much and what types of enemies will spawn in which side mission or any kind of mission. Call me a nerd, lifeless etc. I don't care, but you can't deny the fact that I had a very long time to observe current state of game.

I have seen it more than enough. There is nothing that can kill those MBTs once they reach the number of two or three. Also I don't know if you are satire here but I meant "Shooting everything" by "Nuking AOs" I dont talk about the nuclear bomb animation in game. And duration of AO is irrelevant here, that 20 mins is usually wasted on searching the last 2 teams of enemies that was out of abusers' visual...

Yes I didn't realize he was talking about spartans at first, but if you seek for my second respond, you will see I have suggestions for that too.

If I am allowed to annoy others by showing off my skills, I am capable of annoying them so bad that server population will decrease to 3 - 4. Should I really be allowed to do that?

I respect if you don't have time or will to respond to my suggestions. But please do not make any irrelevant allegations about this post.

I also have to ask a question here, Piccle.  Do you not think that perhaps these things are bothering you more because you have been enjoying the more structured gameplay that EU3 offers lately and now get frustrated at the casual nature of EU1? Once you step across that line, it does become apparent how different the two environments are.

That would be really sweet for solo players and you could singlehandedly take over an objective, which is not how you are meant to play on this server. The game mode is coop.

As much as I like to play Solo, it is not something that I would want to have on EU1. It would be too Overpowered.

I think you either mean the Game mode Warlords or Liberation where you can buy infantry with points or resources.

    Situation
For the last 3 years there has been an unofficial cease fire during religious holidays. That is until today. While the majority of our forces are on leave for this holiday or are using the time for maintenance the enemy have attacked. In an overnight assault they have attacked and seized the capital of Bolabongo and many of its residents. Caught off guard they were also able to capture several senior government officials who are believed to be being held as bargaining chips. Having moved North during the holiday cease fire, the CHADS seem to be the force best placed to respond.

    2 x Mi-24G
    Various ground support vehicles

Respond to the assault on the capital city. Repel the loyalist forces and reclaim the city. Find and free the government officials so they cannot be used as pawns.

    1. Mobilise against the Loyalist offensive

Schubz reacted to Norris in A New Year.
    Hello Members, Donators and Guests,

Welcome to 2021! This is a new year for the World and our Community. Ahoyworld would like to thank all the Donators for your donations towards our community and hope that you continue to as we are reliant on them. This year will be full of good times with friends and new friends on our Public/Modded servers but also on our TeamSpeak server as well (ts.ahoyworld.net) so come and join us if you would like. This year will also be full of Events so keep an eye on our Events page for the full details ranging from Multiple Session Operations (MSO) to Campaign like Zeus missions (regular Mission Makers) to Game nights hosted by individuals like you.

If you would like more information on any of these there will be links for you to click on below. But here is the low down on these:
MSO - Multi Session Operations, we used to use ALiVE but due to instability we switched to just hosting Zeus game nights with a story that spans several weeks. First person only and a somewhat higher immersion mod count. RP is highly encouraged. Tends to put players in hard spots vs AI.

Campaign mission - On our Enhanced server we have regular modded missions. Emphasizing tactics and teamwork.

Game nights - If you've come up with a mission that you would like to run on our servers, this is how you can do it! We have a framework available as a good starting point for your ideas (Mission creator framework), and when the mission is ready, you simply fill out a game night request found here(Game night request form). Staff will work with you to test your mission, make any necessary changes, and find a slot for it in our events calendar.  Can be as simple as a Zeus enhanced I&A session, to custom missions with mods.

Ahoyworld welcomes streamers and video creators to our servers, and we appreciate your continued presence. We have a official branded banner which you can use in your stream (ask Staff for more info), but ask that you follow a few guidelines when you do so:

    1) Be an example of Ahoyworld's ideals ("AhoyWorld is a welcoming community that respects its members and visitors."). We want your viewers to feel like they will be welcomed if they want to join in some time!

    2) Please use our Teamspeak 3 "Server Group" feature to mark yourself as "Streaming", and make it known in briefing that you're streaming. This is a courtesy for other players in the channel. (Not mandatory for gamestyles where we don't require TS usage)

    3) Ask us to re-stream your stream on the official Ahoyworld Twitch channel.

Video creators, you have much more control over what gets put onto your channel as it is not live. Please continue to use good judgement about things you upload with the Ahoyworld name attached.

If something reportable occurs that is seen in stream, we ask reporters to include a link to the full length stream VOD and a timestamp in the report.
Do not use the "clip" feature on Twitch etc. Reports are to be anonymous (via the form) and should not have a negative impact on streamers.

Just an idea but maybe we could give CSAT their own little aircraft carrier somewhere in the ocean with on board AA (~ 5-8 km range) for their jets to spawn from ( spawn them above the carrier and have them fly to the target). That way they cant be "spawn camped" and don't just appear out of nowhere lined up on their target.

The leave group button has been there for the entire time and you could have left any time you wished. Also there are many lines of communication available to everyone in the community, via the forums, Discord and teamspeak, that could have been used by yourself to get any issues resolved within good time. However it was not brought to my attention that it was something causing an issue to you or anyone in the community my other commitments to the community have been taking a precedent.

As you can see as soon as the issue was raised action was taken to ensure that all parties are happy with the outcome.
You claimed that you were the owner of the group here:

I simply made a comment stating that the group in question was not in fact under your control and the community did not need to contact you in regards to gaining the ownership because we already had it.

Also Ryko is in the group and was already an administrator.

What is impressive to me is the approach to getting the issue resolved by yourself. i think that would class as impressive for all the wrong reasons.

Thank you for your concern, Ghost

Well, that was an interesting one from my perspective. First time going Vortex for an Enhanced op so thanks for people being patient with me.

This is pretty much what happened from my end (hmm this is actually a bit of a novel):

Lessons for me (and anyone considering going Vortex for Enhanced, but never has😞
    1) Familiarity with the aircraft. I was flying advanced flight model, I enjoy the challenge, but I need to be aware of how the bird performs both loaded and unloaded (and you'll never catch me flying an unfamiliar aircraft with AFM on). Nearly dunking an entire squad into the sea after they survived the operation is not ideal! I think I should have skipped flying Vortex in EU1 earlier in the day and just tried things out in the editor for that time.
    2) Going around on a landing is much more time efficient than having a successful crash in the LZ, especially when it makes the entire island go "what the f was that noise?"
    3) Establish procedure for when Vortex is not at base and reinserts are needed. Either "fly within LoS of base" or "Make sure Command/FAC knows to relay requests over terrain".
    4) Don't worry, I'm changing ISP on Tuesday

Feedback is appreciated, especially from anyone that flies a lot of AFM. I was lucky (?) to have @Norris in the doomed-seat for my crash, I'm sure he was wishing he could grab the controls during that! I would either like direct feedback on the mission performance or from a passenger at some point if anyone is willing.

    Feedback to Gambit:
Really, really gorgeous setting. Love the map choice, the atmosphere, and after a poke around in the editor, the little setpieces that Vortex in-mission would never see like the mass grave.
3 Vortex would have been useful - maybe have the 3rd slot available and only allow a 3rd pilot if player count exceeds n. Could probably have done the insert in 1 flight (command spread out over the 3 birds, they had spare seats with an entire squad aboard) and in the event of "emergent situations" then there is less risk of mission pace getting totally messed up. Also allows reinserts to be managed while another bird is doing observations.
A TV back at base for when people are good at not dying. Honestly the need for stealth in this op made it sensible to have birds grounded when not absolutely necessary. I was constantly worried our observation flight would be noticed.

I have not replayed a mission in my head so much for a while.
