    Ahoy,

I thought now would be a suitable time for a community update, as the title suggests I have a major announcement to make, and the last community update was in March, so I think the time is right to give the community an update about the current situation at AW.

    Xwatt Leaves Core Staff
As the title of this community update suggests, I will be stepping down from CS. The main reason for this is that my own personal schedule has been getting increasingly busy and with that, I feel that I cannot the devote the time to AW that it deserves, therefore the sensible decision would be to step down. @Ryko always puts it best, real life comes first and must be given priority. I'd like to thank @Mark T for giving me the opportunity to become a Core Staff member, and I would like to thank the current CS team, and the staff team for the support they have given me over the years. But most importantly, I would like to thank you, the community, for backing me and supporting the decisions I have made in the past few years in an effort to positively move this community forward.

On a brighter note, I would like to congratulate @MidnightRunner and @Norris, our new members to the Core Staff team. I have no doubt that these two will be able to make a positive impact to AW for years to come, and they have my full backing for any decision they will make. Midnight will be taking over the role of AWE manager, and Norris will be taking over the role of Public manager. I would like you all the congratulate these two, and I want you to support them wholly as you have supported myself.

    I&A4
The development of I&A4 is now back into full swing, and masses of progress has been made in priming it for public release. Just under a week ago, we completed a full 100% run of the mission, highlighting the progress in stability and allowing for persistent mission progress over the span of a few days. Please continue to leave your feedback in the dedicated I&A4 feedback thread, it is immense help in aiding Ryko to develop the mission. Feedback can be anything from bugs and missing items, to your feedback in how you think mission should be played. All feedback is welcome, and ultimately will shape the end product for the mission.

    AWE and Gamenights:
AWE has had a ton of progress since the last community update in March, and we will continue to support the growth and development of the server for the foreseeable future. Currently, the server is rotating maps and factions after every one run of Liberation, and this method is aiding in keeping player retention, compared to the two runs that we did in the past. Support has been mostly positive for the switch back to CUP and ACRE, and we will continue to listen to community feedback about how we can better improve the server. Be sure to attend our Liberation Sunday events, in which you can find information for that in the events section of the forum.

As for Midnights campaigns, we are currently in a transition period between moving towards a new campaign in both the Tuesday, and Friday operations. For the Tuesday campaign, this will be moving towards a zombie orientated mission, and the Friday campaign will be moving back to the PMC series, and more information about that can be found here:

Alongside Midnights missions, we have two gamenights from @BenjaminHL planned, keep an eye out on the events section of the forum for the dates of those missions.

    Final Note:
As always I want to thank the community for helping us to move forward in a positive direction. I want to thank the donators for their continued support in keeping AW financially stable, even during a pandemic where peoples income may be reduced. Being a community powered by your donations is a portrayal of the support you have for our community, and we will continue to make the suggestions and needs of our community the focal point before any major decisions are made.

On a more personal note, I would like to thank all of you for the support you have given me as Core Staff for the past few years. I have absolutely loved it, and it is with regret that I have to step down, but I am in no doubt that this community will continue to live on and prosper, as it has done since it has been founded. I would like to give my personal congratulations to @MidnightRunner and @Norris, both of you have my full backing, and I am excited to see the progression of AW a few years down the line from now.

    Thank you all,
    Xwatt & The CoreStaff Team.

    CHADS Deployment Announcement

    Map: Isla Duala
    Modset: Liberation modset
Location: Newly formed Western African Republic a former French colony

Following 5 years of civil war between Republicans, who fought for a democratic government, and the former government of Joseph Lumumba, the now deposed dictator.
Loyalist forces are continuing to wage a semi-guerrilla style campaign against the newly formed government. The loyalists hold much territory as the forces of the new government have not been able to muster the strength to take and hold these areas.

The UN has recognised the new government and deployed to the area to protect civilian life and oversee the democratic elections scheduled for later in the year.
UN peacekeepers are present in the area. Their primary role being the protection of civilian life.
Mission des Nations Unies dans la République d'Afrique de l'Ouest (MINURAO) was established by Security Council resolution to support political processes in that country and carry out a number of security-related tasks.  The Mission was asked to support the transitional authorities of the Western African Republic in the stabilization of the country and implementation of the transitional roadmap.

A small CHAD force has been contracted to train and command the local army until they are ready to operate independently. While the numbers of trained personnel are still low the Combat Hounds have proposed a to run a mechanised unit consisting of both CHAD operators and local soldiers. This would allow for local soldiers to gain experience while the leadership and experience of the CHADS can be leveraged.

The platoon will consist of a number of APCs with dedicated crews. These amphibious vehicles will be the main source of transport and resupply for the men in the field.

All CHADS are required to have their vaccinations up to date prior to deployment, and have their claim for their Combat zone advisory bonus submitted before leaving their home country.

More details to be revealed soon.

In-game name when banned: and Knudde [DECO]

What message displays when you attempt to connect? Knudde/racism/repeat/troll(perm)/LH5

Why do you think you were banned? The N word

Why (in your personal opinion) should your ban be lifted? I made a new post because I wasn't able to reply on the old post (maybe i'm blind). But Lindi you said that the server keeps a player record for several reasons. My record is trolling etc... etc... and now racism. Look when someone says the N word it does not mean he is a racist :D. You don't make up a context when you see a specific word. Maybe it was not a funny joke in admin (Midnight) view but it was meant to be funny, and therefor it wasn't racism :D. Racism is insulting someone for the sake of hurting someone right? Mine was meant funny, so the intend was not to hurt/insult but actually it was friendly (in a rude way perhaps) there was no sinister deeper evil meaning meaning behind that N word :D. I don't understand this, if you say the ''n word'' you get banned for racism while the word literally means ''shiny black'' in latin, Later on it was used as slang to describe a black person and now the word is forbidden because black persons may not be described anymore by color? So a black person is not black anymore. His color is now a forbidden word, isn't that way more insulting, then just hear the truth? :D If you are black and can't deal with the fact that you are black then you can't handle life. But then again... it was not meant to insult or to be racist, but on the other hand: how dumb are you when you are really insulted by that? Because if you are you simply can't handle anything. So I'm not a racist, im a good player and yes I have trolled a couple of times but overal I play normal and I am not really loudmouthed or noisy on the server. So I would like to appologize to the one (astrasleepy or something, I think his name was) I called the N word if he was actually insulted by that :).

Which administrator banned you (if known): Midnight Runner/ LH5

    When were you banned: yesterdazy

What server were you banned from? ARMA3 EU1/2
  8. Haha
Noah_Hero reacted to LH5 in Knudde [DECO]
This ban appeal had me confused as there was no ban report and you stated being already unbanned so I looked into it.

The ban was supposed to be a kick as a final warning but ban was hit instead, a mistake that has been made by many of us as they are so close together hence why you were "unbanned already". However once I looked into this I saw your previous exploits on server under your other names and have reapplied a permanent ban.

You have played on our server for a while and racked up a fair few warnings, kicks and a ban under your other names. I shall place the 2 most notable names I have found so you know what i'm talking about.

Clintwood: you were well warned for offences then kicked for teamkilling, ramming assets, disabling friendly heli's, insulating other players then later temp banned.
Agent1: you went on a roll harassing a player and insulting them for almost 30 minutes straight before being kicked.

So I think its fair to say you should be well versed in our rules and that racism is no joke.

I pass this on to @Lindi for anything that follows.

Noah_Hero reacted to souldeath1 in Knudde [DECO]
LMAO as 'Agent1' all I did was sitting in his helicopter as co-pilot pretending to be a flying instructor. As 'Clintwood' must be a while ago because I don't remember really.
In my opinion this is just a game and trolling (to some extent) is part of the game. If the game is always played seriously and every misstep is followed by a serious consequence then you get a culture of betrayal. People who record and report eachother each and everytime they see something they don't like to make sure who ever does it gets kicked or banned. Anyways I don't play 100% serious always, but most of the time I do, and I am a good player. I also have been trolled plenty but I never wrote a ban request for someone 😃.   Grtz.

Noah_Hero reacted to Minipily in Squad Leader 101
Welcome, in this guide I will explain my thoughts and advice on what are the fundamentals of being a Squad Leader in SQUAD.

Firstly, SQUAD is a team game. Teamwork and communication is key, and a team that does not adhere to these two basic principles, is not a good one. All teams need one thing to uphold this and maintain the balance; this is where the Squad Leader comes in.

I will split this guide up into seperate chunks for easy reference and reading. These will be:

    i. Introduction
    ii. Earning the Stripes
    1. Squad Leader Basics

As the title says, this guide will teach you how to issue an order according to NATO-standards.
Note: No one expects you to know these things but it might be benefitial for understanding them and is certainly benefitial if you're any kind of leader and want to order your men to perform any task as the format doesn't change whether you are a general or a TL.

Therefore the linked PDF down below provides:
A guide on how to write an Order The differences between Orders Explanations of different Tactical Control Measures (TCMs) A Layout example for an Order
    Guide: Order Guide.pdf

Furthermore I provide a the layout example as word-document that can be used to write Orders there and then copy & paste them to the forums as the text-editing-capabilities of the forum are a bit lackluster but mostly capable of keeping the word-editing. (Everything written in Italics will obviously be replaced by information.)

    Word layout: OPORDER.docx

Filled examples can be found in the current and previous operations section of the MSO-subforum as well as in the linked USMC documents.

The out of bounds is based on the marker on the map, the reason that marker isn't extended more on the final objective is because then you'd get into line of sight of OPFOR spawns, which I can't move back because it'd then take them ages to get to the actual AO.  I'll look into that second thing and the 3rd has already been fixed in the next version.  We've also been discussion what to do with the medic, we haven't reached a conclusion yet.
As for the uphill battle, we're going to move to another map or place on this map anyway.  We'll also talk about the acogs and I'll have a look at the radio's.

I'm an absolute idiot and I missread it as Battlefield-type GN. Which I don't think would work in ArmA with vehicles and shizz. But if it's actual BF then I guess yah. I don't own BF4 though. So deduct a 'No' from each and add one to 'Yes' and 'BF3'

Would love to see more non-ArmA GN's. I remember we used to do ETS2 convoys where we would all gather and have like 10-20 trucks behind one another going for a long drive. Basically just sitting in TeamSpeak and casually chatting. That was great.

    Backstory for the campaign
Welcome to the beautiful Tembelan island located in the gulf of mexico, which used to be a military training island before it was decommissioned. The island has since the decommissioning been opened up for civilians to settle and the Mexican police use the islands ex-army base as a training facility as well as housing the islands police force.

In later years the Los Zetas cartel has taken over most of the island pushing the police force back to the South of the island. They are currently using the island as a haven for drug production, human trafficking and gun smuggling.

A joint operation consisting of DEA,CIA and FEADS has been green lit,in an effort to cripple and stop the operation that Los Zetas is running.

Noah_Hero reacted to Minipily in [official poll] TFAR vs. ACRE on AWE (read!)
I can certainly attest that ACRE should leave no room for controversy or concern.

It is extremely user friendly, easy to understand and with little to go wrong. Infact, it is as simple as grabbing a radio, changing the channel to the appropriate channel, and voila. Unlike with TFAR, should something go wrong with your radio, you'll have to change frequency, and that can take more time then simply changing channel.

Also I should note, that if you do what I did, you can change the keybindings of ACRE to the exact same keybindings as TFAR. This virtually makes the two mods seem exactly the same.

In terms of the "backend" style of things. ACRE should have the exact same compatibility of TFAR, and setting it up should allow for automatic changing of channels respective of what squad you picked etc etc.

One final thing to note, ACRE is much more indepth and detailed than TFAR. So please note that if you are in an urban setting with a simple infantry radio, there can be such a thing as bad reception and radios are noted to start failing when you are a few city blocks away from your team. This shouldn't be a problem of course, as splitting up more than 400-500m from your team is not really a valid tactic most of the time, but it is something worth noting. It is not a "problem with the mod", it is just a feature that is realistic compared to the real life radios.

I'm behind this introduction, I feel ACRE has a lot more to give than TFAR whilst still retaining the same simple recipe, perhaps even a little more watered down for people to understand.
  25. Thanks
Noah_Hero got a reaction from Minipily in [official poll] TFAR vs. ACRE on AWE (read!)
For people who don't know ACRE yet and want to know more about it before voting I can recommend their website as it not only contains basic guides (how to start/how it works) but also guides for all of their radios (with pictures)!

And for anyone already interested in how the new ranges would be:

Also I could write a rather detailed guide for the different radios as I already read through their documentation, but I don‘t know if that is actually needed considering the quality of said documentation.
