    I'm Tristan, 20 hailing from the Netherlands. I usually play on the public servers with the "Maniancs 1-1" group! Thought getting on the forums is a good way to keep up to date. See you in the field!

    So we've been saying this over the past 2 weeks now and we *finally* have something down to announce with a good week's notice!

    Starting on the 12th of April, we're going to bring back dedicated Zeus ops to recreate the good ol' days when Luetin09 was here. Ops will begin around 8:30 pm GMT on Wednesdays and will go for a few hours, with 2-3 ops in mind for the evening. The map will be either on Tanoa or Altis (and we might even bring back Stratis for a day), so make sure you prep yourselves! We haven't decided which server will be used yet, but expect anywhere from 40-60 slots to be available to the public, first come first serve.

    Any Spartan is allowed to be on the zeus interface and we're going to encourage multiple zeuses acting at once to deliver a good experience, so expect these ops to be pretty large scale! We will do our best to keep them simple, however, in order to accommodate for various player skill levels!

    This brings us to our next point: above is a poll that i'd like people to answer regarding what type of ops they'd like to see on these nights. I'd also appreciate any feedback below!

    And before you ask: Yes Scar, some ops will let you have tanks to use

    We hope to hear from you all soon!

    Regards,
    -Wiwu and the Spartan team

    No. (But I have a counteroffer)

    That's my two cents right there. This won't work at all in the sense you're thinking @Eagle-Eye

    Now, I don't mean to shoot the idea down harshly, but take it from a guy that does zeus work on a full time schedule. I've done this in the past, and only through VERY CAREFUL management does a PvP+E (Player Vs. player + Environment aka. AI) work. The zeus needs to make sure the enemy players are ABSOLUTLY CLEAR on their roles to do things, hence why even I do it so rarely. Applying that to a public server would be chaotic and I can assure you that it would be abused to hell. programming wise you'd also have to factor in different respawn points for CSAT at every main and side AO. Furthermore people come to I and A for casual ops. if they want PvP, they generally go somewhere else like king of the hill.

    Now, let me break a few things down using zeus logic:

    The AI will ALWAYS be dumb. Even with mods like VCOM and ASR_AI 3, the AI is trash, but a zeus can always do their best to adjust things. Granted, Achilles has many more tools for this, but with simple Ares, there are still things we can do here to improve the intelligence of the AI. If someone's sniping the AI from afar, call in a vehicle to come by the AI, remote it, then scan around with thermals and take pot shots at the sniper. If they don't react at all, shoot in front of them. if they really don't get it, kill them. If Ai are being dumb while their building is being breached, use the ungarrison command. trust me, it gets the players EVERY TIME, and I've been told that's one of the best things the players love to see when the AI do a small counterattack.

    If you really want to bypass the AO limits, just spawn in units at a player's flank (within reason, we want the players to win, remember? :P) or take a vehicle on a patrol route and maneuver it around. Personally, I love to take an armed Quilin, load it with a fireteam, then drive it around and order the fireteam to assault the players from a flank. it keeps them on their toes, and the chain gun from the Quilin at a range past 100 meters is a great weapon for suppression, with a very low chance of actually killing the player.

    Now, let me tackle some other points here...

    You're going to want to increase the ratio significantly. I've done experiments with 40-60 players and, although it heavily depends on skill and communication, you generally want 8 Players to a single enemy player, so a ration here would be around 7-8 CSAT to 51-52 NATO. think about it. CSAT coordinating ambushes with explosives and grenades, using AA and AT to effectively take any armor and air out, they have a small group to keep themselves organized and comms clear, NATO gets WIPED if too many CSAT are on a team, regardless is NATO has a 3:1 force advantage. Seriously, the worst I've seen it is 4 CSAT players staying in a base STOMPING 50 FREAKING NATO PLAYERS FOR AN HOUR because their comms were on freaking point.

    COUNTEROFFER:
    I know Fabs and I have been talking about bringing back zeus days to Ahoyworld. We're still working on ideas but this could be one of the main themes we provide on those days. It would be interesting to see what Ahoyworld does with this gamemode...

    Tanoa is a good map, but unoptimized for sh8t. You can still memory leak on 64 bit for example.

    I'm sure EU2 will turn into a Malden server when Bohemia releases it to see how it goes or something... also...
    Check back in 24 hours about that, Fabs and I have been talking...

    I would like to request for 'Clear Vehicle Inventory' to be included in the in-vehicle scroll menu. It has always been useful in the past I&As. For players who want to set their own loadouts into the Hunter, they must clear out tonnes of armament:
    2 x 6.5mm rifle >10 smoke rounds 2 x PCML rounds >5 smoke grenades Once we have this script implemented, it will take <1s to clear the inventory instead of having to place the items into their our bags and leave them on the ground.

    Will add a screenshot of the Hunter's loadout at a later time.

    Hello there!
    My name is Doc, ill explain that in a moments time...
    I just recently joined AW and I am loving it!

    --Arma Experience:
    I have been playing Arma 3 since 2014 and I have really enjoyed it. I started off just messing with the flight mechanics of the game and was content messing around in the scenarios and sometimes the editor if I wanted to experiment. Eventually I took on a more of a multiplayer role with my friends and I when we played scenarios together through hamachi. In between scenarios with my friends I was a pilot of a few RP servers and was having fun. But then the fun of flying kinda died off for me and I wanted a different style of play throughout Arma. I started bouncing between servers, testing roles, kits, just seeing what felt "right"  for me. Then one day I was playing on a wasteland server with my friends and realized the potential and ability of a medic. (See how this relates to my name?) A good medic, I found, could single handled turn the tide of an engagement. I then went back to those servers I had written off before hand and experimented with playing varying types of medics. I found that I loved this style of play and how powerful whilst incredibly helpful at the same time.
    --How I came across AW:
    I imagine that this tale might sound slight abnormal at first, but hey, I managed to find myself here! The man that got AW on my radar was, and he needs no introduction, Liru the Lance Corporal. I was watching one of his streams and he recommended AW as a great server. I hopped on and I am in love. Since then I have been playing on EU#1 and EU#2 mainly as a medic but I do employ my piloting skills when the need arises. I am also thinking about starting zeusing and I am just coming to grasps with it now. Hopefully one day ill be able to zeus around here! (Could someone please link me to application process for zeusing so I know where to start once I get better? Thanks!)
    --My IRL difficulties:
    Sadly I attend a boarding school on the East coast of the USA, because of their strict rules I am unfortunately unable to bring my desktop there and play arma. Therefore I am limited to just breaks and summer when ill be able to play on the servers. However, I do hope that ill be able to be an active community member through the forms over the school year.

    Thank you for reading!
    Over and Out

    I think the major problem is map size. Most players want to get on, shoot up some dudes, achieve some objectives, and that's good.  On Altis, if there is a BLUFOR base and an OPFOR base, they'll likely be on opposite sides of the map, and it will take forever for players to find each other.

    On Stratis - maybe.  But at that point, we're probably better off playing something like EUTW.

    When I first read this I though "this would be very cool", imagining myself being part of a small, elite team of Russian special forces infiltrated behind enemy lines, causing all sorts of havoc, communicating and attacking and then disappearing!
    And then I remembered... this is a public server, most people on there just want to run around like they are playing COD and have very little regard for any sort of organisation or basic concepts of infantry combat. Most of the time they are just fighting the urge to kill their own teammates! They will drive straight to the blue base and get a kick out of blowing up choppers waiting on pads or sniping people at spawn, ruining it for most.
    So, sadly, and as much as I think the AI is almost useless and this is an exciting concept, I second what most people said. Leave it as Plaver vs. AI and develop another PvP server option.

    There´s quite something to say about the "new created" medic system.i "disliked" it much from the start.
    May sound harsh,as the system has a few nicer features @animation,free look and "nxt medic pos" highlighted ... but it is a permanent b*tch to face on a public server with usual mix of players.It changes the mentality of players in the long run too as its way quicker to respawn instant base and reinsert then having to wait minutes for amedic to come+survive+heal you in given time - i noticed this myself that due to the missing "Grab/Carry" option you take it given fact to not even care for looking for a medic when one of your mates gets wounded/shot.
    Then there s this "cant talk in chat/call for medic" once in wounded animation which is JUST HORRIBLE WRONG !
    Its god damn frustrating to only be able to watch map and hope for the sake of the task you were on to get some medic to notice you even wounded and need assistance.
    Funny,i notice sometimes "some" peopel are able to use chat when in animation -i even had that once happen to me - but its so goddamn seldom its my main gripe to this system.

    Back in the days,Norrin´s revive had a option to set a alternative revive point that was (depending on certain mission) a mobile medic span deplyable by medic (to much hassle for I+A with 60players) or add such a point to AO´s so it moves with each AO but stays in the near outskirts of it maybe 3-4k away with no teleport option too.
    Just a quickshot idea.
    Or tweak medic system and make it 2 parameter options (set by admin of server) so you can have "unforgiving and TSneeded" option for h4rdCore *cough* EU3#(yea,fkk it - its EU3# and not AWE to me) and a "softcore" option for pub servers.

    For the sake of gameplay on EU1# and 2# i support a demand for a better solution than now.
    (adapt current medic system accordingly or swap back to a Norrin like system)

    I was about to reply sooner but had different occupations to deal with.
    Interesting there s so low response to a "issue" we all face.

    Liru the Lcpl. reacted to D.Devil in D.Devil's Arma Settings (Maximizing your FPS)
    For those who are interested in having settings which would maximise their in-game performance with great visuals, here is a short guide for you.

    Arma 3 Launcher settings;

    Someone (don't remember who) said if you're using an i7 6700k use this command line;
    -cpuCount=4 -high -maxmem=15360 -noBenchmark -noLogs -noPause -noSplash -world=empty

    It did somewhat give me a more stable fps count and after using this command line I had less frequent memory leaks, they happen at random, sometimes after serveral hours and other times after 20-30min (don't qoute me on whether it's true or not, it just is for me).

    Ingame settings;

    After I been using these settings I gained about 20-30fps myself and mostly work with stable 60fps, however this drops to about 30-40 if the server has been up for quite some time. In Zeus I get a stable 40-50fps and after serveral hours server uptime it drops to 20-30 with a full server.

    My rig;

    These settings work for me, they may not work for you. Maximizing all my settings seem to give me the best overal performance ingame, I get less fps using the lower settings and they don't seem to be stable for me. Hope this will help some of you, if not, just keep playing with your settings and eventually you'll find the settings best suited for your rig.
