If you've ever wondered how to take out an Ural (Or any vehicle for that matter..) when your ammo gets scarce. And you happen to have ArmA Enhanced Movement installed.

So i was studying some python and get fed up with it so i took another look at the scripts off I&A3.1.  As we all know vehicles are not included in base protection, leading to the occasional mass TK in base.  So i looked at the code a bit and wrote some code that includes vehicle in base protection.

    The code:

I tested it with a hunter, a slammer, a ghosthawk, a .50cal turret, a wipeout, a mortar and a greyhawk.  The script works for each one.  (The wipeout was fun because 1 click equals a burst of 20 rounds, meaning you get more than one of those hints.)

And like with the base i designed: it is, of course, up to whoever it's up to to decide if this gets used or not.  I'm just sharing something i made.  If you got any questions about it, PM me or post them down here.

Edit: That thing with the AT gunner applies to me. While it's not entirely true, it's probably accurate.

Am posting it here because I strongly feel that all those hard effort being put in for developing the AW I & A is being taken for granted and can't be thoroughly appreciated by non member players.

Check your FB group page on August 26th. I volunteered for Admin to help you with your pub server rampant TK problem but I got no reply.

recently after being TK-ed more than I could take it I  called for admin on TS but did not get any response.

so i said that there is a better server out there where an admin is always available and your Admin on duty should try emulate that is at REDACTED servers 1 & 2 but got banned for advert.

i wouldn't speak of the other servers if the Admins are doing their job but got banned for pointing out how it could be better with the idea that ppl could learn a thing or two about playing and running the server when your Admins cant.

Seriously Admins. RUN THE SERVER. don't let the TK-ers run you!

Now this is going to sound VERY strange to a lot of the players out there and will involve engagement of the brain and possibly some sort of reading skills.

How about people actually try READING the side missions and actually trying to complete them rather than just rolling in with a Growler or Slammer and blowing the INTEL or Person away and failing it?

Is it too much to ask that if all you want to do is kill stuff then stay at the main AO and leave the side missions alone.

There are some of us who actually like to take our time, get into position, plan an attack then try executing it to WIN the side mission and possibly more toys for you guy's to play with. I'm sick to death of spending 20 - 30 mins just getting in to the Side Mission area, finding a vantage point, scoping it out only to have a vehicle or a squad come charging in and failing the whole thing in seconds. they then shrug, call for EVAC and head off to the AO like nothing happened.

On a serious note, Can we not implement a no vehicle and AT zone for the Side Mission AO's? Vehicle re spawns when it enters the Side Mission Zone and AT do no damage?

I know it's a long shot but tbh at the moment Side Missions are a pointless frustrating exercise.

Please don't lecture me on good forum etiquette, I have been running and administering forums for many years and do not need your input.

    Let's look at the facts.

Up until his post the time line was as follows.

I posted on here after a particularly frustrating session on server 2 where every side mission was failed or spoiled by a couple of the usual suspects either bringing vehicles to the side mission when the only possible outcome of that scenario is a fail. Or people using AT to the same end.

There were then a couple of ON SUBJECT posts (Yours included) which although I feel where a bit wishy washy and non committal and basically admit there is a problem but say that we have to play wacky races to finish the side missions were offering opinions to the subject.

At that point PiranhA took it upon himself to step in on behalf of ALL AHOY members (of which he isn't one by the look of his tag) and to point out that I was insulting afore mentioned members. There was no constructive suggestions to my original post at all, not even a "Suck it up" suggestion like the previous ones.

THIS could actually be considered trolling if taken by it's definition.

The reason I posted this on here originally is that I was playing on an AHOY server, not an IGN server or Bohemia server but an AHOY server and although I have tried explaining the way side missions work IN GAME it is not the easiest was to do it as you're chat disappears too quickly and the in game voice comms isn't for this purpose.

My  hope was that if just ONE person who does this kind of thing read it and thought "Hey, that's me that does that, so that's why the side mission fails" and didn't do it again it would be a win. but obviously this is not the helpful, receptive forum that I assumed it was and will not bother posting again with this kind of attitude prevalent.

    base design
New base looks more like a quick setup for a insurgency army - i quite dislike the position for it too,as you have to travel a shitload of dirtpaths and rocks to get off this (in a vehicle).
Way to much vehicles too,we dont really need 2 Hunter HMG + 2 Hunter + 2 Hunter GMG,then the usual gazillions of Quadbikes on base and the Prowlers (which dont apply to the vehicle respawn once no person is near,i crashed in 2-3 by now that just idled empty on a dirtpath forever).
And where are the liftable Offroad Repair Service vehicles - did they got cut?
Also, base is exposed to FF as base protection script ends just on the hilltop nxt to base and is currently greatly abused by multiple players.

    AO´s
Looks like the radiotower task totally got capped as i failed to witness one radiotower (at least the marker isnt seen on map anymore) and therefor its hard to judge if a AO is safe to approach in vehicles.I just drove in a KUMA (side reward) to nearest AO,fired 2 shots then got rocketeered by enemy air with 1 single rocket. So we back to CAS is now deadly again.
Imo there s a way over the line use of the enemy Artillerie obj.Seen at least 4 on 2 different AO´s.Then now its only Sorchors and no guard infantry, guard tanks or whatever - they just sit there waiting to be shot and keep on their firemission.
I dont see the point of the AO caches too,its nice to have a additional task in AOs,but what use has it to do this prior to clearing AO per se?

    advanced FOBs (Martian,etc.)
Managed to turn a AO into a FOB after completing it,altho its hardly any difference. You get 1 Hunter HMG + GMG and a truck + a Ammo Box Cache (Arsenal).
No Vehicle Service ability - you still have to move back to base in order to service your asset.
Which leads to the question of "not having Vehicle Service points" like before on I+A 2 regualr spread on the island.Cant understand that not having this.

    overall issues
I dont find the performance of the mission to be greatly better than before,to me it plays very mediocre,to give a example use a river at best performacne - right now it feels liek a muddy swamp to me. Cant back that up with fact/data.
The marker script showing actual groupnames looks nice, but has its issue too.Its not 100% accurate on position and hard to view on map compared to I+A 2 where you coudl easily sit on base and make sense of the movements of markers/people doing stuff.
"Clear Vehicle Inventory" options needs to be added to all vehicles.

Overall, its a good throw but i need to adapt to the new style of the mission.
Honestly, its not a thumbs up for me (yet) - i keep comparing to much to I+A 2 and this isnt necessarily a good thing, but like said i´ll adapt.
Currently i see this more like a beta version of the real mission,as imo there quite a few things that needs to be tested (if it fits the community style of play) and some kinks being worked out.

So far, great work Bacon, keep on bugfixing and see how your mission plays out to the different playstyle of the community.
    I´ll be eagerly watching.

I appreciate the "setting a ruleset" for any ZEUS to get the guidelines and basic figured out.
I really do,yet this doesnt at all helps in my very situation.
We r jumping from "explaining individual tactics from individual ZEUS´s" to talking over engagement range to ... whatever comes nxt.

My intial point for this post was the blatant sabotage by "several" ZEUS on more than one side mission i had the engagement on.
This is far from discussing a "opinion" on how to act, shoot from which distance or use whatever tool that is to your access.

Side Intel missions have rarely any chance of success due to either not understanding pubs, air units flying over it or just simply by the INTEL guy crashing to movement.
Then deciding to "enhance" a mission without ANY notice to involved people (yes,me) then screwing me over to the point i loose any motivation to continue on that BS i got handed there by a "overconfident" ZEUS in order to enhance the mission then watching it fail is a unstandable offense ... and yet it happend more than one,two or three times!

Everything has a limit and the stuff you "assume" me bitching about like a little girl with no background knowledge makes up for a hilarious read if it wasnt so sad ...

The spartans are on a steep learning curve, they have been thrown into the mix with not much guidance. ( We can only give so much). There will be mistakes and there will be slight changes to how you might experience I&A, but this should all settle down in due course. The spartans are allowed to spice up a mission, but obviously they are meant to do it long before you get there.

Any type of thermal scopes were removed from everyone beside squad leaders with a reason. The reason was a lot of temkilling was happening, where people were sitting on top of a hill, shooting inside the AO, not able to distuguish between friendlies and foes.

I understand your reason why the snipers should have it, we will think about introducing it again to snipers only (not spotters).

Just kidding, I'd probably rate it a solid 8,5/10.

Yes, it certainly is improved, but I wouldn't call it drastically. ArmA 3's main campaign already had decent voice acting.. but.. compared to this, it really has gotten better (Good old times..):

I don't know the official reason, but the FOB missions were creating a lot of problems IMO...

First off, people RARILY did them. I think it's great that you found joy in doing them, and I agree that they were fun, but you'd find people doing them once every FEW DAYS at best. I & A's goal is to expand on what the playerbase wants, and so on

Second, the clean up scripts with the FOB vehicles didn't work very well with each other. Often, you'd have a plethora of useless HEMMT trucks laying around and clogging up the vehicle spawn because you would (literally) have 20+ trucks that you'd either have to nag a Spartan or Admin to delete or demo them, which also caused a metric ton of server lag for a while until their wrecks despawned.

And we all know what lag causes...

So, when I went online on EU #1 about two days back, after playing on an empty EU #2 with Version 2.86C for a while, I decided that it was time for me to see what the new version had in store! After doing FOB missions for like three hours, I literally became a bit addicted with it, so I was hyped to continue doing it on EU #1, but as I logged in, chose my slot.. I looked at the map!

"An AO at Kalithea, right next to the spawn. Now isn't that just great? The FOB's gonna be so close now!"

After searching the map for about five minutes, I came to realize..

"... But there is no FOB mission!"

After that shocking experience of viewing the changelog and learning that FOB missions got removed, I went to ask Iranzan why that's the case. He couldn't give me an answer, either! So I'm now making this topic to learn about the shocking truth: Why FOB missions got removed!
