Using gay as anyting but a way to describe someone as happy or homosexual is using a word as a slur, "this is gay", "that is gay", "stop being gay", as it is using a word associated with a peopel of a sexual preference and putting a negative slant on it as you would typically replace the word gay with another negative term, "bad", "wrong", "stupid" etc.
You say being banned for a server for this is bad? I know people who have been given formal warning at workplaces and even sacked for this, so no it is not OK. Does it bother me, not really, is it deemed offensive by many, yes.
As for rape, using this as a joke doesn't really work either as too many people can be offended and rightly so. Does it bother me? No I have a dark sense of humour, do I use it here on the server? Nope.
Also it takes time to stop and type these things, it's not like you are blurting it out in the heat of the moment over voice chat.
I've always found the admins friendly but then again I have never given them a reason not to be.

First of all, Hello.
I have been tasked with a job that is within the aspect of community involvement, which involves you, and your ideas.
For the longest time, the ideas box has been well renowned for being all about ideas that can be implemented into Invade and annex. This is still the case and will remain to be, as your ideas about I&A are more than welcome, we love to hear all of your ideas that can shape the future of I&A.
The description of the ideas box is "We're always looking to improve. What can we do to make things better?"
This is what I want to highlight.
The ideas box is not strictly confined to ideas for Invade and annex. The ideas box can be used for ideas that can help Ahoyworld become a better community and shape the future in which we are heading. Ideas about I&A will still be welcome, but I hope that there may be an influx of ideas that are non I&A related.
As always I look forward to seeing all of your ideas, they are always considered as the playerbase is what makes our community.

If something is enough of an issue for it to negatively impact a player's enjoyment, then it is down to that player to raise said issue with a member of the staff team. Failing to raise an issue with a staff team member would insinuate to me that it is therefore not enough of an issue for the person to go out of their way to attempt to rectify.
If the player is unwilling to put the effort to connect to teamspeak, or message an admin directly then that speaks volumes to me.
Spartan's are not staff - they are ambassadors. There are always staff around; shouting 'admin' in game does not necessarily qualify (to me at least) as going and finding a staff member to rectify an issue. If it is 5pm UK local, chances are an admin will see it. If it's 2pm in the afternoon then chances are a staff member won't (most of us are still at work).
For the record; this is my personal opinion, and does not necessarily reflect the opinion of other staff members or AhoyWorld as an entity.

Hi Physics,
If you are new I would recommend that you try out the Invade&Annex servers first (EU1, EU2 and EU4). These ones are a lot of fun and very beginner-friendly.
You can join these ones either by just searching for "AhoyWorld" or by using the IPs wich can be found here: https://forums.ahoyworld.net/topic/7987-ahoyworld-public-server-ips/
If you want to play with a few, very small, nice mods that provide an even better experience you can see wich ones are allowed and find a guide-link on how to install them here: https://forums.ahoyworld.net/topic/763-eu1-2-accepted-addons-repository-info/

You can play all these roles (except the artillery) on our servers; just feel free to join! No problem, the use of TS is not mandatory when playing on the I&A servers but I would recommend that you give it try since there you´ll meet a lot of other AW members wich will make it more easy to play as a squad and wich will get you even more involved into this community. Also you will always find someone on there who can help. If you want to give it a try just hop onto: ts.ahoyworld.net
If you are getting more familiar with all the controls, TS, etc. and want to have a little bit more milsim-ish/teamplay oriented gameplay then you can also check out our modded server AhoyWorld Enhanced (AWE).

The general consensus regarding third-person gameplay is a 'don't ask, don't tell' mentality. As long as you don't call out targets you see glancing over that three-metre wall, I won't call you out on using that view.
AWE brings together a variety of different mindsets and many will, over time, pick up different traits from one another. In the case of third- or first-person views, it's far more likely that third-personers adopt the serious, realism-centric mentality of first-personers than the other way around. Someone who's learned to play with it won't just fall back on that old crutch.
In turn we get to enjoy banter with a larger, more open player base. I'd wager most of us wouldn't be here otherwise.
So we benefit each other.
Bringing about a change specifically in order to rid yourselves of an entirely non-harmful way of enjoying the game is the polar opposite of what AWE has been so far.

Here's how I see it.
I've had many conversations about the role of the wasp with many people since the introductory of the Jets DLC. The role of a CAS jet should be a SUPPORT role. Meaning that the pilot should only fire on request and should be on standby, scouting targets. Sadly this hasn't been been the case. I have seen pilots utilise the black wasp incorrectly, taking it upon themselves the fire without request and 'One manning' missions spoiling the role for those on the ground.
Face it, it's a public sever. No matter how hard you try an enforce the Black Wasp as a support vehicle, you will constantly see people taking it upon themselves to fire. There will always be a poor execution on a public server of support roles. It is something that requires communication and coordination to be effective in any scenario. Invade and Annex for me has always been better off without the CAS jets as they are not needed in order to be effective and getting the mission done. The player count is usually high enough that the fire power of jets such as the Black Wasp are not needed.
I also feel the Jet DLC has put too much power in the hands of the pilot. the new system allows the pilot to lock and fire without the need for people to lase targets as the pilot can do this as it is in his power, allowing him to engage every target that he can see.
Personally I feel the Black Wasp should not spawn on the carrier. I feel it has too much unnecessary power that is not needed 80% of the time. Instead it should be limited to a side reward or a FOB vehicle as that way it can be utilised effectively, as players don't need to have access to a CAS jet that permanently spawns at the carrier that they have 24/7 access to if it hasn't been destroyed
My action points are:
Limit the Black Wasp to side rewards or to a FOB. That way it can still be utilised effectively in I&A but then players do not have access to it whenever they feel, they must work for it, this makes sense as I feel a vehicle with such firepower should be worked for. Replace The Black Wasp for the AA buzzard, this can replace the Black Wasp at the carrier, and I feel a pilot who is skilled has access to the tools needed to eradicate enemy air such as Shikras and Neophrons, while not ruining the fight for the players on the ground. If somehow you feel the AA Buzzard is 'underpowered' replace it for the Gryphon, it doesn't have all the fancy parts of a Black wasp but it still has more than enough power to be effective at its role, and should be able to eliminate enemy air and few ground targets, as such hefty power that the Black Wasp has is not needed to be effective. The comment of 'The AA buzzard is a air to air while the Black Wasp is air to ground' may come up but that's my point. I don't see the need for an air to ground jet to be accessible all the time, an AA jet should be more than enough to eradicate issues that players complain about, enemy jets, and a vehicle with such firepower like The Black wasp should be worked for, and reduced to a FOB or to a side reward.

Having played a bit of Lythium, this is definitely what AWE needed. It feels like a fresh start, loving it! Just sitting in a helicopter flying over Lythium makes me think of so many possible GN scenarios, it's going to be a great summer!

Hi all
Recently on AWE there's been a few people saying things along the lines of "damn, I need practice with the AT4".
Attached to this post is a mission file containing five AT firing ranges:
One on flat ground in the salt flats, One on top of a hill shooting down, One at the bottom of a hill shooting up, An airburst range, and finally... A live-fire range where you can choose from a set of limited equipment and engage targets that WILL fire back at you. There will be infantry scattered throughout a town and the surrounding area, and the town will contain IFVs, APCs and an MBT.
You can teleport to each of the ranges using the scroll wheel menu, and there's a few resupply crates at each. Practice your skills with the AT4, M72, RPG-7, RPG-26, SMAW and MAAWS at distances ranging from 100m to 1.2km and at varying angles of elevation.
The file is unbinarized so you can easily tweak the .sqf to your heart's content.
Step-by-step instructions (if you don't know how to run the mission file):
1) Download and unzip the file below.
2) Copy the unzipped version into your Arma 3 "missions" directory for your character's profile. For me, this is in Documents\Arma 3 - Other Profiles\GandalfTheCray\missions.
3) Boot up Arma with the AWE modset and launch into the Eden Editor (any map).
4) Click "Open", select "Missions" from the left-hand box and you should find "ATRange".
5) Open ATRange and launch in singleplayer using the button in the bottom right of the editor!
