I have been playing AWE for a couple of weeks and it is really the kind of experience i was looking for in Arma 3. 
 
I want to thank you guys for being welcoming of new players, even if i have previous experience in arma. You have helped me to learn the ropes of the roles on this server, and even if i had no idea what i was doing in the beginning, respected the roles and gave your tips to improve myself.

We've become a bit nostalgic from the old days and have uploaded I&A 2 onto EU2.
It will be live this weekend only.
Obviously, it will be different to what you are used to with I&A 3, however, the core gameplay still remains
All normal rules apply
All mods are the same
Back are the days were AO's are random and you have one base to operate from.

If you change slots outside of base you aren't given the attributes for the new role (for example, repair powers as an engineer, Logi powers and - notably - advanced medical abilities as a medic).  This is by design so you can't spam switching in and out of roles to accomplish a particular objective.

VCOM is currently live on the I&A servers. The Public Moderation Team is closely observing the mod on the server to gather an idea of the performance and stability impacts it may have on our servers.
 
WHAT IS VCOM?
 
Vcom is a serverside mod that aims to improve the vanilla AI combat abilities. It attempts to create a more dynamic and challenging environment compared the traditional AI battles in Arma 3. Vcom impacts a variety of skills that the AI carries and enhances these to create a more dynamic and challenging experience.
 
Features Include:
 
- Increased AI accuracy and Player Suppression
 
- Enhancement of AI communication
 
- AI use cover more extensively
 
- AI avoid areas of heavy fire and that their buddies have fallen in
 
- Improved Flanking
 
- Enhanced AI Suppresion
 
- Increased Weapon Utilization
 
- AI use of Mines and Explosives
 
-  Improved Garrisoning
 
-  Improved Formations
 
DO I NEED TO INSTALL ANY MODS?
 
You do not need to install any additional mods or addons to gain the benefits of Vcom. It is a serverside mod therefore seperate mod installation is not needed by users. You can connect and play as you normally would.
 
 
We hope you can give us as much feedback as possible with the introduction of Vcom, as our end goal ultimately is to enhance the enjoyment and gameplay for our community. We feel the Vcom mod does this as it offers a more dynamic experience than what the AI can offer in Vanilla Arma.

Right, what I've thrown together:

Enemy officers and squad leaders that have been killed will have a scroll wheel option to search their bodies for intel.  You'll also be able to talk to civies and ask for intel.  (civies have to be alive to talk to them, enemies have to be dead to search their corpse )  
When searching an enemy corpse you have a 60% chance of finding intel, when talking to civies a 50% chance.  
When you find intel the map will be updated, the current hint square will be reduced by 20%  (20% of the current size of the square, not 20% of the size of the original square).
 
These numbers are open for tweaking.  It will be added in I&A 3.3.7.

Current (side) mission where you have to locate a crate in a urban city setting (area patrols + hidden fighter´s in houses).
Fighting the resistance forces aint that hard but finding the crate currently is a pain in the a** if you either solo or with a bunch of pubs.
Luck is your best partner on this one,too.
 
Back in A2 in the "Insurgency"original there was the option to have killed enemies drop hints in form of a white suitcase that revealed either range of crate area current or highlighted a certain area of the mission setting with different color to make finding the crate quicker.
Propably restrict the option to drop Intel hints to Officers only (similar to the way "Secure Intel" works)
I´d approve having the option to involve the civ´s on this mission for just that task (interact with em > they give Intel on crate location).
This might also stop the fetish of killing civ´s just out of boredom and depression of not finding the crate in acceptable time.
 
I´m quite sure this requires a update/enhanced scripting to the current existing (side) mission but i m also sure that this way will be more attracting than current.

Applying for your official AhoyWorld Squad membership!
What is it?
Squad XML is a way off showing what community you are apart of, this community information is viewable on all Arma 3 servers. Membership of one of these squads will provide you with a logo and member identity in-game with a welcome pop up notification on connection.

 
What squads are there, and can I apply for any of the squads?
 
 
Staff squads:
AhoyWorld Corestaff - For Corestaff
AhoyWorld Public Moderator - For Public Moderators
AhoyWorld Enhanced Moderator - For Enhanced Moderators
AhoyWorld Spartan - For members of the Spartan program
 
Public squads:
AhoyWorld Ambassadors - For Field Ambassadors (invite-only)
AhoyWorld Donators - For donators of the AW community (Applied to via "register donation" on the donate tab - https://forums.ahoyworld.net/topic/8590-ts-group-and-squad-xml/)
AhoyWorld Members  For members of the AW community (Open for public sign-up)
 
What are the sign-up requirements (guideline) ?
Ahoy Members:
- At least 3 months forum membership
- At least 5 constructive posts (yes we will check)
- No warnings or kicks within the last 3 months
- No bans in the last 6 months
- Trustworthy in representing the AhoyWorld name and logo on other servers

FAQ's
I am a known player on the servers, but only registered on the forums recently, can I still apply?:
Above requirements are a rough guideline to ensure we only get longstanding active members to use this service. We know that we have some real solid players that are not active on the forums, but still want those players to be able to participate in this. Go ahead and sign up now, and apply for squad membership anyway. If staff knows you from in-game we will have no problem adding you to the squad even though you only recently signed up.
 
Can I use multiple squads?:
Yes, however, you will have to change links in your arma 3 profile each time you swap
 
How do I find my Teamspeak 3 UID?:
- Open Teamspeak 3
-Navigate to Tools > Identities

 
How do I apply the squad tags in-game?:
- Copy the squad.xml url you are apart of from the Private message sent to you
 
Paste the link in the squad XML box then click apply:

 
- Log-on to our server and the logo should be visible on your uniform and the side of the vehicle you are driving.
 
 
RULES !!
Carrying our logo, name & tag makes you a representative of our community as a whole. We like to think of ourselves as a friendly and trustworthy community and would like to keep it that way. We do take great pride in keeping up the longstanding Arma community friendliness and netiquette as has been the case since 2001. If you cannot live up to this, we will have to remove you from the xml, this might happen without further warning, and in some cases even result of being banned for all our services including the forum.
 
Offenses that will result in retracting your squad.xml membership:
- Any other community or group reports you as misbehaving on their server or forum while carrying our tags (regardless if it's proven or not)
- Misbehaving on our own server resulting in a ban by one of the admins will get you removed from the server
- Any other offense against our rules that will force us to assume you are not fit to represent us publicly
 
The staff-team reserves the right to reject any membership application for the squad.xml for any or no reason as we deem fit. In the end, we have full control who can or cannot represent our community.
 

Your actions and behavior were not respectful to our community and certainly not to the online administrator that you teamkilled on purpose.
But after almost two years being banned, the verbal request on teamspeak and on the forum I have come to the conclusion to lift your ban.
 
This is a last warning, be respectful to everybody, on teamspeak, in chat and on voice. 
A next ban will be a permanent one.

Fixed the issue, it was going up in linear with the animated gif TS banner we have. As soon as it completed it's first loop the memory usage plateaus. I am miffed why it would be using so much though, the image itself is only about 4mb so why it's using 900mb has me stumped. Anyway we've removed it until we can figure that out.

Well what can I say? It certainly has been an eventful year for AhoyWorld, we have seen leaders changed not just once but twice, a big turnaround in staff, staff restructuring and as always had some ups and downs.
 
I can assure you, 2018 will certainly be a different year. There will be lots more changes to come and we will need all your help to achieve what we hope will be the best years to come for Ahoy.
