    Hi everyone, I'm Mouldy, and I'd like to give a quick introduction for those of you who may not know much about me.
     
    I started playing on Ahoyworld EU#3 Modded in September 2015.  It was exactly the kind of community I had been looking for: a public server with radio-environment mods, and a focus on more realistic squad-level gameplay.  In May of 2016, I was invited to become a moderator for what is now the Enhanced community, and I've been here ever since.  
     
    With introductions out of the way, Colsta has recently stepped down as AWE Team Lead, and I am excited to take over the position during this pivotal moment in AWE history.
     
    AWE, at its core, has always emphasized teamwork, having fun, and player driven creativity.  The mods that we employ on the server are in pursuit of this idea, but recently player sentiment has shifted. Many in our community have decided that our current modset is too bloated, to the point of being almost unusable by the average player.  Of all the different kinds of people that come to play on the AWE server, everyone who has approached us has said the same thing: "We want less mods."
     
    The Enhanced Moderators are in full agreement with the community.  
     
    We have heard your ideas, discussed some of our own, and decided on a course of action that we would like to take with the server.  These are changes that the community has asked for, and the mod team has agreed is a direction that we should pursue for AWE.
     
    The revised modset for AWE will be trimmed down significantly in the next repo update. We are looking at the minimum requirements for our ideal AWE experience.  Mainstays like TFAR, ACE, RHS, and a few choice maps will remain. But practically everything else is going to be cut from our modset.
     
    This will bring the repo size down to around 16GB(from 30+), which is much more palatable for prospective players, and we hope to capitalize on this with more promotion and events once these changes are live.

    The AWE Mod team has some more ideas that we're excited to explore, but we're not quite ready to announce anything yet!

    Ahoy Members,
     
    This is just a brief update on what's been happening internally and externally in AhoyWorld.
     
    First, I would like to thank you all for the kind words regarding the change over.
    It certainly has been an eventful few weeks. There has been a lot of discussions involving finances, staff structure, activity and how we can improve upon them.
    First change I'd like to announce is how the staff structure is displayed: this will clarify the roles of each member and make easier to know who reports to who.

    Second change made is how we as staff communicate.
     
    We've been using Telegram for the last few years for business-related chats, quick-fire questions and response and felt that it was time to move on. So without further ado, we have finally decided to migrate over to Discord. 
    We felt that by doing this we could better accommodate you guys which should help us engage and interact with our members more. Being a gaming platform, hopefully it will expose and grow AhoyWorld again.

    Now's also a good time to confirm something we teased a few weeks ago: Invade & Annex 4.
    We have been hard at work developing the sequel to Invade & Annex, rewriting the mission from scratch with an emphasis on efficiency and security, meaning more fps and (hopefully) less hacking. We'll be running an open beta test in the near future, so stay tuned.
     
    And lastly, I would like to take a moment to thank all the staff for their hard work behind the scenes, especially @Ryko for his rigorous testing and development of I&A4 and @GhostDragon for maintaining the back end stuff to making sure that you all have a smooth and enjoyable experience within AhoyWorld.

    Version 062 of Stiletto is now on the server.
     
    Small update release: added a command in mission control to remove fog (it's a button on the right side), a fix for the jammer mission, and forward compatibility for RHS in the arsenal.

    I&A 3.3.8 is now live on our public servers. Please report any bugs/feedback in this thread. The changelog is as follows;
     
    - Streamlined the Arsenal and gear restriction system. [Tweaked]
    All launchers are AT only. The only exception are heavy launchers (Titan AA / AT and Vorona) which are also available to the FSG Team Leader and Gunner. Medkit and Toolkit as well as UAV and Static Weapon / Mortar Backpacks are available for everybody.  The Type 115, the ASP-1 Kir and the Nightstalker optic are now available to the Recon team. The Nightstalker, TWS and TWS MG are now available to Snipers.  The Ghillie suit is now available to Marksmen.  The satchel charge has been removed from the general population and is now restricted to EOD Engineer and Explosive Specialists.  
    - Changes to the naming of two slots [Tweaked]
    Recon Paramedic is now known as Recon Medic Recon Demolition is now known as Recon Explosive Specialist  
    - Changes to the FSG Squad and AT  [Tweaked]
    Only FSG Team members can enter the Mk6 Mortar (the Artillery Computer is still limited to the FSG Gunner). Others get kicked out with a message. Only AT and FSG Team Leader / FSG Gunner can enter Static Titan Launchers (AA / AT). Others get kicked out with a message. Only AT and FSG Team Leader / FSG Gunner can use vehicle mounted Titans / Voronas (Prowler AT / Qilin AT). Others can get into the gunner seat without being able to fire, similar to locked doorguns on the Ghost Hawk. Only AT can use vehicle mounted SPG9s (Offroad AT for example). Others can get into the gunner seat without being able to fire, similar to locked doorguns on the Ghost Hawk.  
    - Added two notifications to aid new players [Added]
    If you have equipment in your inventory that you cannot use, you get a message telling you that. If you are carrying too much you get a message telling you about that. Should help the new players making their first loadout.  
    - Changes to the Co-Pilot seat in helicopters [Tweaked]
    All players can now enter the copilot seat of any aircraft. If the player is a pilot he can take control. If the player is not a pilot he cannot take control and recieves a message informing him about that.

    I've been long at thought for quite some time now about stepping away and it isn't just from AW, but from many aspects surrounding the gaming community. I've got ongoing IRL issues which really need tackling and where I thought coming into the gaming community (namely Arma 3 & AW) brought me a bit of solace I think it's having more a negative impact than anything. Turns out it was just a temporary escape. Burying heads in the sand is not a good option. 
    I don't want to delve into personal reasons or anything like that, instead I'd rather just say thanks to everyone for the fun I've had being around the AW community specifically.
    @Xwatt and the others involved in giving me the opportunity to become spartan and public mod, I really had a great time in those roles even though it was a brief spell, hopefully I did the roles well enough for you guys. @Lindi for the assistance and added fun during that brief tenure, as well as @itsmemario and @Geb.
     
    The list is far too long to tag everyone in, but for anyone who i've played alongside on AWE over the past two years then know that i've had some of the best times in those sessions, and i'll truly miss it. 
     
    It's been great being part of this community, I wish everyone the best ❤️❤️❤️.

    Hi folks,
     
    As some of you have noticed lately, I haven't been as active on server or in development of the Stiletto mission.  Things have become busier in my life over the last few months, leading to less available time to put into Arma; coupled with the fact that Stiletto is more (or less) at a stable version, the purpose of this post is to inform you that for the foreseeable future, I won't be continuing further development of the mission.
     
    There is a notable exception to this: on the staff level, we are envisioning an update to the mods employed on the AWE server, which will necessitate an overhaul to the vehicles available for spawning and equipment available in the arsenal.  I'll be putting forward a version 061 of Stiletto to accommodate this, but after that, I don't foresee a version 062 (except of course, when there are minor bugs to quash from 061).
     
    What I will consider for 061 are essential mission fixes seen in 060 (if something is broken in the current version, I'll want to have it as fixed as possible). In addition, the vehicle spawning system is new, using points, and this is an opportunity to fine tune any point costs that haven't been working.  I haven't seen any feedback about that, so I'm assuming it's not causing big problems.
     
    That said, I'm willing to allow other interested developers to extend the mission beyond 061: if you're interested in this, drop me a message.
     
    I do hope to be able to get online again, it's just that for the next few months, I'm going to be swamped with a few projects IRL.  As I've always been the first to say to everyone else - real life has to come first.

    Feature Request: Jochem's script for goggles and visors
     
    Jochem writ a simple script a long while back and I think it was requested before. It simply allows the player to attach or remove his combat goggles to and from his helmet. Additionally, the same script can be applied to helicopter pilot visors as they can be toggled up or down.
     
    The script should work on all RHS helmets that contain a specific phrase in the calssname, this includes Russian Army helmets Air Force helmets.
     
    It's extremely basic with no notable flaw whatsoever. It certainly increases realism and immersion, but more importantly, it's just a cool aesthetic feature that could even help in combat (i.e removing goggles from helmet onto face in action and returning them to the helmet when ready).

    It is with a heavy heart that I am officially announcing what will likely be my complete departure from AhoyWorld. As I have mentioned to some, I will be stepping down from the Enhanced moderator team on June 19; this will be paired with an indefinite hiatus from the community as well, though I fully intend to return when I can.
     
    In December of 2017, I enlisted in the United States Navy, with my boot camp date set for June 20th of 2018. After boot, I will be going straight to my respective school, and will likely be deploying after that (this will easily encompass the next 3 years). I will be limiting any computer usage strictly to studying during this period. 
     
    To those members of the Enhanced realm of AhoyWorld reading this now, thank you for being my friends and family. I have tried my best to be a player, a moderator, a teacher, and a counselor; and if nothing else I hope I have succeeded in being another human being that you were always glad to talk to. I have spent a good 1,700 hours on Enhanced alone, and have seen many people come and go. Throughout the three years I've spent racking up those hours, though, my mind has never changed that both the server and AhoyWorld in general are diamonds in the rough that is the rest of the Arma 3 community. Nobody will ever be able to duplicate the truly unique things that you all share. 
     
    I will still be active up until the 19th. I am just making this notice ahead of time so that I have a proper buffer to wrap things up with, and so that I'm not rushing to get a message out right before I have to leave. You'll still see me on Enhanced as often as always, and on TeamSpeak so long as I'm awake.

    Stiletto version 060 is now on the server. Change log follows.
     
    Tembelan will be reverted to the previous version on the next update of the repo, until then it has been pushed to the back of the map rotation (Lythium is now default after server restart).
     
    CHANGE LOG 060
    1. Updated Stiletto engine to allow manually spawned missions and enabling / disabling of Stiletto mission engine during the mission.
    2. Added Taru to Russian EMF and Desert player factions
    3. While the M27 is available to all Blufor factions, the 60-round magazines are available for autoriflemen only. The new 40-round magazines are available for all M27 users
    4. Kill HVT mission completion has been overhauled. You now just need to locate (be within 8m of) the HVT's corpse for the mission to complete. In Kill HVT missions, the HVT is armed.
    5. Added point system for vehicle spawning. Values are set at an initial state and will be adjusted over time as we see how the system works. Vehicle resource points are refreshed at 1/1000th of their initial value every minute (so at a default of 150,000 points, 150 points are accumulated each turn). In addition, accumulated intel points are added to this rate. All default initial combat vehicles (except quad bikes and repair vehicles) have been removed from player bases.
    5A. Added the C-130 variants and AN-2 to unarmed plane spawns. Be very careful when placing plane spawns with LOGi: these are large vehicles.
    5B. Added the Mi-24G to Eastern faction vehicle spawns.
    5C. Added artillery vehicles to vehicle spawns.
    6. All vehicles from allied factions are now present in their respective vehicle spawners, so specific factions are no longer relevant (you do not have to be US Army to spawn a Blackhawk, but you do have to be a Western faction). Vehicle rarity is now governed solely by point cost.
     
    For clarity: Vehicle respawn points are separate from Logi points.

    Feature request:
    Rework how player factions work.  

    Currently we have all the gear of one side in the arsenal regardless of the faction.  The only real difference is the vehicles we have access to.  Leading to people wearing whatever they feel like.  Now I don't have a problem with that but I do agree with the people who'd prefer if people were to be using the same faction specific gear.

    So my suggestion:
    Create a new faction: private military contractors for each side (blufor/opfor/indep).  Give these factions all the gear and vehicles of their respective side. Give the other factions faction specific gear only.  (So US army only gets army vests, weapons, uniforms, vehicles ...  BAF get BAF weapons, uniforms, vehicles, ...)
    In the mission params the random blufor param could be either altered to have a 50/50 (numbers up for debate) chance to spawn PMCs or a specific faction.  If the chance for a specific faction triggers one of the specific factions is chosen (Each faction having the same chance).  
    Or it could be altered to PMC having the same chance as any of the other factions.

    Obviously I'm willing to help create the new faction and help work on the arsenal restrictions.  I also have no problem with doing pretty much all the work and having it reviewed by steering.

    Those borders are 2px, on a 1366x768 15-inch laptop monitor they look rather pronounced.  On a 4K screen you barely see them.  (Go for em, rem or % and not for px )
