Noah_Hero reacted to Xwatt in [EU2] Zeus Operations - TFAR
After conclusive testing, we have decided to use TFAR as the radio mod of choice for our [EU2] Zeus Operations. To keep it short, we decided to use TFAR over ACRE as TFAR natively supports vehicle intercom, whereas ACRE requires ACE to access this function.
We will use TFAR in the upcoming operation this Sunday, and to make this transition easier, on the following days, we will be online on EU2 and TS to teach you how to set up and operate TFAR effectively;
Thursday 22nd August at 18:00 UTC (7PM BST) Friday 23rd August at 18:00 UTC (7PM BST)
TFAR Download Link: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=894678801&searchtext=task+force+arrowhead
Based on community feedback, we hope that implementing TFAR will help aid communications and bring an overall smoother experience to the operations.

Noah_Hero got a reaction from Mark T in how i become a AW member
It is a 'unique identifier'. Essentially a unique number for each person. In Arma it is the Player ID wich can be found on your profile-tab (and wich is the same as your Steam ID), and in TS you can find it by clicking on 'tools'->'identities'.

Noah_Hero got a reaction from Lindi in UH-80 Ghost Hawk Gun Lock / Unlock Function
So this is the new every-about-six-months-occuring-rant-about-how-bad-AW-is episode?🙂
My opinion:
First of all I want to say that I am a bit dissapointed that this is only one page so far as we are used to have longer episodes before. It also worries me that only one ranter could've been found. These two points make me wonder wether this series might be getting old and people are putting less effort into it.🤔
But nonetheless I do enjoy the new spin that it focuses on EU1 this time and not on AWE as that topic was really getting old.👍
As a side-note: Even though this is a EU1-spinoff-episode, I like the 'If you don't like it here, leave and play somewhere else'-quote as it kind of belongs to the series at this point!😉
Conclusion:
I would give it a 4/10 at best and put it in line with SCRUBS Season 9!!!!!1!!!!😡
So my advice would be to just end the series and start a totally new one. Maybe something with Aliens...seems to be hyped atm👽🤷♂️

Noah_Hero got a reaction from Xwatt in EU2 Zeus Ops Feedback/Discussion Thread
In Alpha we where only using ingame comms and these Radios where hard to manage without benefits like TFAR/ACRE where you just set the command louder than group, seperate the transmissions by speakers, etc. This often led to me not understanding a word of what command or my FTL where trying to say when there was chatter on both channels as they have the same volume and can't be modified individually.
Possible Solutions might be:
Force TS-usage and have each squad in his own channel -> This way you could just mute TS real quick if you are talking to command via the ingame command-channel and have your FTL/SL louder than the rest of the squad to always be able to hear them even if someone else is talking (This would also help if people are generally transmitting rather quiet). Or if you don`t want to force TS-usage: Have squad-internal comms on the ingame groupchannel but use a dedicated TS-channel as a command-channel for SLs, Vortex and Plat-Co -> This way you could just boost the volume of TS to always be able to hear that channel. But obviously you would loose the advantages of changing the volume of specific people in your squad or being able to mute your squad when talking to command. Personally I am a fan of the first one because it is the easiest and most convenient/flexible solution as everyone can just use the volume-settings that he likes. Also installing TS isn't really a big hurdle to take for people who want to join and it might make these Zeus-Ops a bit more of a stepping stone towards AWE.

Noah_Hero reacted to kennychr in [EU6] Multi Session Operations
General Info
This mission is a multi session operation or MSO for short.
If you played MSO in A2 you will know what the general idea is, if not: MSO is a mission that is designed to take multiple sessions to complete.
How multiple session is handled is that after each event I hold, the server\mission state gets saved to a database.
Loadouts etc. per class are set in stone and kept realistic within what the game can do and what is not a impractical in terms of gameplay.
Mission
The new mission is set in Afghanistan and we are playing as recon marines, it is a COIN operation(Counter Insurgency Operation) which the ALiVE mod is going to handle most of the AI and actions where as I will throw in some RP\Small missions when I feel like it would benefit the game.
I am still toying with the idea of if its going to be like past events where the server is left up untill the campaign is finished, or if its going to be a weekend based event untill the campaign is completed.
A more thorough briefing etc. is gonna be penned up when i finish of the mission in the next week so when we are ready to kick things off you will have a better understanding of what the campaign is about.

Noah_Hero reacted to GhostDragon in Community Update #6
Yeah mini, Not that simple. Yes i can close the other server. But this will break it for when @kennychr comes back to redo the MSO and thats not fair. The main issues are the ports, and the ACE version that is coming out after the new DLC. There is no point in me starting setting things up just to have to redo them in another month. Its a waste of time. Plus if the server were to release by then it would have to come back down to fix issues. So we are waiting.

Oh for good Christ sake why do CSAT have to be the bad guys and capture/kill civilians all the time in these stories?
Oh well, I'll bite again. Maybe, the AAF is with them or something.
Shame I can't attend though, looks pretty fun. Hopefully it all goes well.

It's always a fun thing that is rarely done.
A thing to understand about ArmA that sets it apart from say, Battlefield, is the fact it is a large-scale Military Sandbox.
There's a lot of assets to ArmA that help bring together a large scale war, of course you have your infantry which are the backbone of war, but a lot of assets on the field to support them.
Probably the most important support asset they have is Logistical Supports, so it would be good to see those used more often, setting up camps and what not. These could be used for rearm and respawn positions.
I'd still be happy enough with the clear I&A Meta of using Vortex and Infantry to go back and forth from the action if it was in an organised structure, but I do feel that utilizing more infantry long range movements, ground transport vehicles, APC/IFV support and logistical assets would certainly help bring together some fresh gameplay and perhaps promote better gameplay.
