    Debrief:

We've secured a fair few of SPA officers. Meanwhile, we've also liberated a fair few towns towards the west of the airfield and stopped a large resupply convoy, causing further SPA militia to surrender to our north and east. We're now ready to make our final push and liberate the rest of Altis!

    Mission brief:

We've been resupplied and have had some heavy ordinance dropped of at the airfield. We're now coming in strong with a final push on Kavala. We're going secure a FOB just outside Kavala before we head into town. Where we will secure multiple strongpoints, the hospital and the construction yards and offices. We expect the last remaining SPA to flee towards the ancient castle in Kavala. We're going to corner them there and finish this once and for all. While we do have armoured support, Kavala is the capital of Altis and we should try to limit damage to buildings and properties. Expect the SPA to become desperate and using guerrilla tactics to fend us off.

Any questions, comments or suggestions should be posted below.

P.s. This is the final mission in the Prometheus series -awwwww  - Thanks to everyone who has been part of this amazing journey!

There are some questions to ask yourself before even announcing it:

    -What activity's
    -Location
    -Date/time
    -Costs
    -Minimum attendance/Maximum attendance

Not wanting to disappoint you, but from my experience the chance is quite small to get a decent amount of people for a event like this. I would like to come by and visit, but since AWE is a long time ago for me, im probably not allowed to attend...

    Hello Everyone

While self-educating me about ARMA3 I came across some Lutens Video and he mentioned AW a few time so when I start MP I would give it a go. Concerned about how I would fit in large groups without any experience I choose a sniper and joined EU1. Half an hour later, a friendly voice was approaching introducing him salve as my spotter for tonight. I was able to learn a lot from him and saved my live by carried me over a long distance after I was shot and I was happy with 15 points that night.

Next time (with knowledge of zeroing the scope and some hour's offline training) a sniper place was free so I hopped in again. This time I had to search for my spotter and we got two AO passing by without a single shot fired. Therefore, we choose our next spot more wisely on top of a hill. Luckily for us the enemy was engaged from BLUFOR from the side and we were 0.9klicks out and so the shooting begun. A lot of time when I hit a target, my spotter did to and so we could clear out a whole strip for the approaching troops. On the next mission, the enemy was 1.2klicks out in a hill and I could train once more and was pleased with over 50 points this evening. My spotter was eager to know his points and was shocked he had only 5! Therefore, he thought he was hitting my targets lol.

Some Spotting and Marksmen followed and with one opportunity to go on a round with a experienced crew on a KUMA tank until we were shot twice by a friendly and while repairing finished off by an enemy so this ended quite unfortunately.

Next step was trying a vortex, but those spots are very hard to get and so my chance came this week at closing hours. So I got me a black fish and hopped to the near mission base and picked up 5 guys. While approaching the AO a Tigris hit me hard and I fell down like a stone from the Sky. Oh men, what an intro in to piloting. Luckily, I was able to crash-land the dead bird and everyone was able to walk away unharmed so it was at least a successful landing right?

Back on the spawn, I got my hand on a humming bird and flue it to the base. After that, I introduced me like "Hi, im your pilot for today and this is my first MP session as a vortex ". The next two runs where pickups back to base so no real danger and one delivery to the side mission. On the next run to the AO the passenger some funny comments in the vehicle chat after the introduction and they told me "it's not a shame to use auto hover" and so on, so I assume they were quite scared to be in my Chopper and faced certain death. On the way to the LZ I was hit by some shots, so I flew even lower so I could fit between the trees until we were clear of the AO area and towards the open sea. Then I got (IMHO) the wonderful comment that they were scared a lot when saw how close I flew over the ground witch I tock as a compliment. On the turn back to the island, I experienced a timeout. OK, probably not that bad, I mean you can't crash wen this.... oh, you can, so back to the base again. Therefore, after a few more trips and a refueling it was time to call it a day.

I have read a lot about some bad examples, how newbies got threaten on MP on other games but I experienced a lot of team spirit, players tuck there time to explain me a lot to help me to get better and where forgiving when I made a mistake. So thank you for that welcome and I hope I will find some time to play on EU1 and maybe AWE in the future.

Best regards and see you on the field

In my opinion, discipline is something you learn whilst playing along with some other things. ACE medical basics at most, go in depth if people want to train for medic.

Last thing, don't make the sessions longer than 40 minutes or longer with breakers so people will retain their focus and remember more of what is said.

Yes, that's fine. I will make a note and reserve your slot. Just look at the form when joining what you should take.

For everyone who still needs to sign up, please look at the current roster first to see which roles are open. If you're going to pick roles that are already filled you're going to get disappointed. I rely heavily on a first come first get bias, and then trying to create teams with people who have a good dynamic without making any team a pro-team or newbie team.

A lot of this session is going to be talking. I wish there was a way to make it more interactive, but most of this is on paper typed learning. Regardless, I hope that this will help us all better understand the server and what is expected from each of us.

This will start at 7pm BST and run for as long as it needs to. Think long and hard about any questions you'd like answered about the server, as there will be a Q&A at the end!

    Background story:
A rebel uprising has caused a lot of commotion on the island of Altis. The newly formed militia, called “SPA, Socialist Party of Altis” wants to reclaim Altis in the name of the local inhabitants, they fight against so-called social and economic injustices. The people of Altis are promised change and many local inhabitants are joining the fast spreading movement. Intelligence officers have been sent to Altis to observe the uprising and they soon begin to report the first acts of violence against opponents of the group. Police forces have been driven into hiding or evacuation as many riots occurred during the propaganda rallies.

The date is the 3rd of August 2021, trucks filled with SPA militia arrive at the towns of Feres and Selakano. Minutes after, the people living there are rounded up and are either deported or shot. NATO forces have been on standby for the past few weeks until further escalation was present. Now is their time for action, to drive SPA of the island and liberate the people of Altis from the oppression.

    Mission brief:

SPA has sent militia forces to the towns of Panagia, Feres and Selakano, they started rounding up the local inhabitants and are either deporting them or they are being shot on sight. You will be airdropped near the towns of Panagia and Selakano. Liberate the towns of Panagia, Feres and Selakano, secure the Feres airfield and proceed to secure the Mazi port as a foothold for reinforcements and supplies. Gather any intel from high-ranking officers! An ammo crate with ammo and medical supplies will be dropped alongside the troops.

P.s. Prometheus will run for 4 consecutive weeks, then a one week break then 3 more consecutive weeks.

    Hi Olin Ra & welcome!
I'm pretty new here myself, I've joined a few games on eu1 and have had a great time.

Best bits of advice I can give is say hello to your group when you join and be vocal in your group chat, makes your experience 10x greater.

Sharing your mags with team mates who've ran out is a good way of making friends, (you can take them back if they stand up and wave at a tigris).

Also read the forums & guides and you'll pick up info you never knew existed. And don't stand up in the open fields when everyone's getting lit up around you (Tried and tested).

Lastly, shit happens. I've been sniped by team mates, shot point blank clearing a town, just brush it off the players usually apologize straight away.

    See you in game

OlimRa reacted to SkullCollector in The Fireteam Leader's Field Manual
    Hello lovely people of AWE,

There is always room for leaders and it's fantastic to see players step up to the responsibility of command. For the newcomers to the role, it can often be hard to find a starting point amidst the pressure.
To this end, I’d like to offer some basic advice for beginners and old-timers alike.

Treat this like a checklist to go over while waiting for deployment. A field manual, if you will.

    Your fireteam
Depending on the exact composition of your specific team and the mission at hand, you will generally have an automatic rifleman, his assistant and two riflemen under you, totalling a team of five. The actual number ranges from 4 to 6.

You are the fireteam leader, or (F)TL. On the battlefield, you are the bottom-most strategic planner, but the top-most tactical leader. This means that, of all chief positions, you have the most direct control over how specific nuances of the plan are carried out.

Your second-in-command is the automatic rifleman, or AR. He will assume leadership if you are KIA or combat-ineffective, and he carries the most firepower. Make sure to utilise him well, as his light machine gun can easily turn the tide of an engagement.

A specialist can assume a variety of roles specific to a certain team. An engineer is useful for repairs, bomb disposal and demolitions, whereas a designated marksman supplements a team's effectiveness at range, in suppression and picks off high-priority targets such as MANPADs or other sharpshooters.
Certain missions may introduce other specialist roles. The specialist often dictates which role you play in an assault; a marksman combined with your AR turns you into the ideal cover element, while a breacher or engineer suggests you be the forward element. Play to your strengths.

Finally, you have up to two riflemen who might be grenadiers or carry anti-tank launchers, or one might even take on the role of an ammo bearer. Consider them your all-round assets. Think about having at least one AT launcher at your disposal.

    Moving on.

Lead by example. A good fireteam leader will be up front and in the middle of an engagement, fighting and suppressing like any indiscriminate member of his team. He will keep his cool and observe the situation to adjust stance, priority targets and the team’s advance as necessary.

Micromanage & be concise. As a rule of thumb, your squad leader will tell you where to go, whereas you decide how to go there. Having an eye on your team is essential, so make sure everyone knows what their job is. Give easily understandable orders to reduce questions and misunderstandings to a minimum.

Show tactical initiative. Your SL is always delayed. You know the plan and the commander's intent, but you also know what is going on right then and there, so use that to your advantage. Be disciplined about this and use good judgement when adjusting your tactics.

    In the field
Secure your flanks. Never let your guard down and choose the formation most suitable for the situation. If you travel and have to stop, form as close to a circle as you can while utilising cover and concealment. Order your team to face and secure all cardinal directions.

Use buddy teams. A buddy team is a unit of two soldiers, usually assigned a colour for easy access (helping you be concise!). The AR and AAR should be one by default, but their compositions are up to you. These will bound together, cover one another and perform various tasks you assign them as a single element. Sometimes you don’t need them, but it is better to assign teams at base while you can. Organise with your fellow team leaders to avoid overlapping colours, causing confusion on radio call-outs.

    Awareness
Know your team. Be aware of who your AR is and familiarise yourself with the skills of each individual member. A quick quality check is to let them assign their colours themselves, so if they ask how to do it, you know they are more or less beginners. Keep an eye on them and treat them well, and help them as much as the situation allows. Again, lead by example.

Account for your team. Make sure no one is left behind during travel or bleeds out without medical care after hard contact. You are expected to rally up your team in a timely manner, and should always be the last to get into a transport vehicle when deploying to or exfiltrating from a mission site. Let your SL know that your team is loaded up.

Update your SL. Acknowledge orders and succinctly relay information to him. You are his eyes and ears on the battlefield, and he relies on you to enhance and execute his plans. If you take contact, let him know. If you have KIA or wounded soldiers, let him know. If you need fire support, let him know. Do not take long-range radios with you. Rely on the chain of command.

Exert voice discipline. Make no mistake, we are here for the fun. But if you hear the call of banter, keep it to local and do not clutter the radio channels. Control your voice volume appropriately. Pass this on to your team, as you are responsible for their actions.

Be nice. We all have fantasies about Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, but ask yourself if you would like to be shouted at while playing a game. Your orders have to be carried out, yes, but a simple please goes a long way. At the end of the day, we are all playing pretend with guns on the internet, so keep this in mind and you will not share Gunny Hartman’s fate.

    Useful phrases

Obviously there's a lot of room for deviation, but if you feel there is something critically wrong, feel free to comment.
Have no fear, and remember to open your mouth. Communication is key.

    Cheers.

Advice is shoot the bad guys, not your allies, don't fly helis if you dont have the skill (practice elsewhere such as the editor), and have fun.
