Briefing: The war on terrorism is and has always been a plague trying to isolate and eliminate. This time the middle-eastern insurgents has sought to capture and hold the attractive vacation spot, Malden. The Consulate of Malden has made it clear not to turn Malden into a warzone, however this proves to be easier said than done. The lack of a local military force has put a lot of pressure on the local police force. The Consulate of Malden has asked the British Armed Forces for aid in eliminating this plague that has swept the island. For queen and country. The Royal Marines shall return victorious.

As the front settled after the failed Altian counter-offensive, new arguments erupt in high command. There are those who take the side of the troops, who understand that nothing more could be done, that the attack was a foolish idea in the first place. There are also those who refuse to accept this reality, who blame the frontline commanders for failing to execute their ambitious plans, who refuse to accept that Russian forces are still too strong to push against. Regardless, a Russian drone hub was eliminated and intel was collected by Altian military - a victory of its own and about as much as could reasonably be accomplished.
As Altian troops fall back from the attempted counter-push, the frontline stabilizes. As days pass, it remains quiet. The Russians are holding their position and it appears that they are content for now. It is unknown at this time whether they are awaiting reinforcements from the mainland or for the Malden force to take the island and support the Altis invasion. For the time being it looks like the situation on Malden is much worse than on Altis. The Russians are pushing relentlessly with general Izhutin determined to end the invasion and start dealing with Altis. Despite a non-escalation policy of US forces, USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier is being dispatched into the Mediterranean to conduct operations in the area of Altis archipelago. Time will tell if the Russians won't consider it reason enough for committing greater forces and escalating this "proxy" war.
Situation on Altis seems stable for now, though the silence in the south is only part of the worry. There is also silence in the north, as Freedom forces are still electing not to act. Whatever their plan is, they are playing the longer game. As Altian intelligence gets to work on decoding intelligence recovered from the drone hub, they also report that some information was uncovered regarding Freedom and their attempt to access Gatekeeper's classified files. It appears that they were attempting to access data of Gatekeeper's WRDD (Weapons Research and Development Division) related to an experimental weapon codenamed "The Thor's Hammer". What the weapon is and what Freedom wants with it remains unknown...

This is a routine operation. You will visit several villages, deliver humanitarian supplies to the civlians and make sure the area is secure. Investigate any possible leads regarding insurgent presence and act accordingly to neutralize threats. As the insurgents were not only terrorizing civilians but also spreading their propaganda, we can't be sure whether soem of them are secretly supporting the insurgency.

They will provide tasking for the company when needed, we may also avail of any open contract on insurgent leaders as we see fit. While finalising our readiness in theatre we get word that a trail has been found for a local mid level insurgent leader, "Ahmad Zubair Kuhestani". Intelligence has placed members of his immediate family in the area, it is therefore likely that Ahmad is nearby. You are tasked to search the area and find where Ahmad is hiding. HE is then to be captured alive and brought in to be handed over to US forces.

Altian forces managed to secure Molos and surroudning area and repel the VMF landing. The Russians took great risk by deciding to commit to another area rather than reinforce existing frontline and this loss will set them back fairly significantly. Altian intelligence reports that these events were a reason for Russian high command to be extremely displeased with actions of the general who was commanding the Altis Invasion force. Displeased enough that he was relieved of his duties as commanding officer and for the time being the senior commander of the Russian force is colonel Ivan Ivanovitch "The Shark" Bukov. Despite his aggressive nature he was reportedly ordered to hold the offensive until reinforcements arrive to assure adequate advantage. Intelligence is also fairly certain that the renowned general Vsevolod Mikhailovitch Izhutin, known more widely as "Chessmaster" - currently the commander of Malden Invasion Force - has requested to take command of the Altis force. While his request was denied for now, there are strong indications that he will be put in charge of Altis force when Malden falls.

The situation on Malden is not good. The Russians are advancing slowly, but steadily, utilising every weakness of defending forces. It also seems that Chessmaster opted to increase his speed of advance to compensate for Russian failures on Altis. It is clear that despite decently sized US garrison stationed on Malden, the island won't hold for long.

On Altis, however, for the first time there is some hope for the defense of the island. The loan provided by the Americans to buy weapons from manufacturers in USA and other NATO countries allowed Altian military to start replenishing equipment losses. As shipments start arriving on the archipelago and equipment and vehicles are distributed to frontline forces, high command grows hopeful in their ability to hold off the Russians. Of course there are still substantial Russian forces at reserve which could support the invasion, it is clear by now that neither Russia nor USA are willing to commit their full might to this conflict. While NATO and Russian troops are firing upon one another, the war is viewed as more of a proxy war rather than a clash between superpowers, with both sides trying to minimize possible escalation of the conflict.

There is still the danger from Freedom forces, which for unknown reason are still opting not to move. Altian intelligence is working hard to discover their plans but there is still little information about what their intention is and what files they were trying to access on Gatekeeper servers.

As Altian high command re-evaluates the defense plans and entertains themselves with an idea of re-taking part of the territory lost to Russians, shocking news come through: Freedom forces under command of Phantom have infiltrated a top-secret, high-security meeting. Their intentions are unknown, but now the Altian prime minister, minsiter of defense and several high-ranking military personnel are being held hostage.

Decisive action must be taken to save the hostages  and Altian special forces are sent in to deal with the situation.

    Part 6

Altian forces menaged to deal with Russian airborne force and prevented the town of Syrta from falling into insurgent hands. However, the Russians managed to destroy the radar station, severely limiting Altian radar coverage over the island and making it a lot easier for Russian aircraft to operate. The following two weeks shown that Russians were very much aware of that fact, as large quantities of five-hundred-kilogram metal buckets filled with high explosive have been steadily falling from the sky. The loss of radar combined with enemy SEAD activity renders long range AA defenses of Altis largely ineffective and the invading Russians are utilizing this advantage. The fact that Russian radar and SAM launchers were among targets hit by Altian special forces somewhat helps, but the battle for the sky is now fought by fighters and unfortunately combined Russian and Gatekeeper air wings have an advantage over Altian air force.

Under heavy bombardment the Altian forces holding the frontline in the eastern part of the island were forced to retreat and give up ground. Largely unopposed, the Russians advanced along the eastern shore towards Kalochori before meeting any real resistance. Additionally, in an attempt to accelerate the invasion progress they opted for a risky move. VMF forces that were supposed to reinforce the western section were re-directed to attempt landing at the north-eastern end of Altis. They made landfall under air cover of their aircraft and have taken the town of Molos, as well as a nearby airfield, which was luckily evacuated in time.

Altian high command realizes that they cannot afford to split their forces to hold yet another frontline. The VMF force must be dealt with immediately. If the Russians secure a foothold in the north Altian military will be forced to retreat and give up the entire eastern half of the island. With no fortifications prepared so far back, this would likely spell doom for the defending force.

There is still the issue of Freedom and the insurgency. Reports about the strength of Templar's primary force indicate that they could afford to push forward if they wanted to. The fact that they're staying put would indicate that Templar is playing a bigger game, as it would be strange of him not to take advantage of the difficult situation of the Altian army. Altian intelligence suspects that it may have something to do with the data Phantom was after, but as of right now there's no indication as to what they could contain.

The operation of Altian special forces was successful, striking at several strategic targets beyond enemy lines. The loss of those installations will hamper the Russian operations quite significantly. In fact, as days pass, there is virtually no movement of the frontline, the Russian offensive halted, and Altian troops utilizing this time to the best of their ability to prepare defense in depth. However, due to recent loss of equipment after having to destroy the supplies stolen by the insurgents, the Altian army is also in a worse shape than anticipated. In an attempt to compensate for the shortages some older equipment makes its way back into active service. Additionally, some of the equipment purchased shortly before the invasion, which was yet to undergo evaluation before a full delivery contract is signed, such as armored vehicles bought from South Africa, is sent in to the frontline units for "field tests". With the destruction of Russian installations and Altian loss of equipment it seems that there is only one party in this conflict prepared to push onwards - the insurgents and their Freedom allies.
It is clear that Templar's forces are preparing to move, having received reinforcements amidst the chaos of Russian invasion. In addition to usual  guerilla operations, the insurgent are more and more often found probing Altian outposts, scouting for ample place and time to strike. There is no doubt that at least some of guerilla forces on the island are commanded by the "Phantom", an almost legendary Freedom commander and unprecedented master of infiltration. Through diligence of Altian intelligence operatives an interesting piece of information is revealed. Altian special forces attacked five out of six targets assigned to them. However, Russian radio chatter mentioned and attack on another target, one that wasn't even designated for the operation. A Gatekeeper HQ and - more importantly - its server uplink was attacked. As revealed by our operatives, some of the sensitive data was downloaded by the attackers before the server connection was severed.
With pieces of the puzzle falling into place several things are becoming clear: Phantom and his forces were operating on Russian territory at the same time as Altian special forces and they attempted to download classified data from Gatekeeper's network. It is unknown what they were after or whether they got it, but the situation itself is worrying. Additionally it presents a question of whether Phantom knew about Altian operation to use it as diversion, or whether it was pure coincidence. This could mean that there is a Freedom spy in Altian high command.

It seems the Russians were so impressed with our spec-ops that they decided to try a similar thing. Under cover of the night and SEAD mission an airborne detachment infiltrated our territory. However, their intel wasn't entirely accurate and they didn't manage to hit their intended targets. Now the sun is rising and they're still in Syrta, as well as occupying a nearby radar installation, which they will presumably attempt to destroy. Insurgent forces are also present in the area. We have an opportunity to destroy the enemy airborne force before they can evacuate, but be wary of insurgents and Freedom. This will most likely be a three-way engagement. More information will be provided soon.

I remember back to my time here. Having the first-come-first-serve when it came to roles and a strict policy as to chain of command, I found it pleassant to have a group of people willing to abide by these and have fun. It creates that public commitment-free milsim that I personally love.

To your question, I always felt that having something BLUFOR specific was a must, since I remember a couple of times where someone would dress up as russians and get teamkilled.

If the server ever opens back up and with a newer version of Stiletto, I might consider coming back.

You made mistakes. Welcome to the club.
Mistakes are human, and we made to make a lot of them. These were just some of yours.

Don't be sad you made some mistakes, I once deflected a 20mm HE round of the ground and killed Ryko, and crashed a jet and blamed manpads for it.
We all make mistakes even I. These are just moments we learn from. We think about it over and over again, finding where the situation went wrong and eventually finding a solution to avoiding it in the future.

Get back on the horse. It's not the end of times, it's a lesson learned.
