    In my experience flying birds other than the MH-6, a Copilot is much less useful on landing than having someone looking out the side of the helicopter from the passenger section.
     
    The pilot seats aren't actually that great for looking at what's near your anti-torque, but the Gunner seats have 180 degrees of vision on each side of the aircraft.
     
    For this reason, I have on many occasions, whether I was in charge or not, ensured that people understood the need to STFU on approach and landing, giving the gunners and pilot room to communicate.

    Co- pilots and gunners would help the 3rd person situation, but i dont think that people will sign up for a co-pilot slot.
     
    I think that on PvE Gamenight there should be 3rd person viev (you dont have to play in 3rd person) but in the futere maybe we will see some PvP Gamenights, there the rulesett should be ONLY 1st person to prevent "wall cheating"

    Hello and welcome to this weeks game-night  
     
    We will be playing Hostile Negotiations
     
    On ArmA3 EU#3 MODDED. 
    The map is AL-Rayak
     
    The meet up time will be as follows:
     
    Sunday - 3 PM GMT Mission start
     
     
    Brief: This is a PVP Hostage rescue mission. A rebel faction has taken some hostages and is negotiating for a truck filled with weapons and AMMO. BLUFOR must try to negotiate for the safe release of the hostages. If all else fails then it will become a bloody battlefield.
    Note: I will only start filling more than the first 3 hostages only after the majority of the regular slots have been filled.
     
     
    You will not be allowed to JIP once the mission briefing is over..
     
    Click here to apply for a slot! Failing to do this my mean you are not guaranteed a slot.
     
    I'm stressing that any mucking about while we are doing this event will be met with according punishment for degrading other players enjoyment of the event. Normal EU#3 rules apply

    I'll echo Amentes and Norman Shaw - er, Minipily.
     
    My question would be, is this a game night if it's essentially just a structured Gauntlet mission?
     
    I have no problem with calling it a game night, but I think perhaps one of the reasons there was a dropout rate (a part from Fallout 4 syndrome) is that because it wasn't a "new" mission, or a new situation, many people see it as Gauntlet and were more easily able to drop out.
     
    I'm no expert, but I'd be happy to help you create a custom mission if you're interested.

    My thoughts:
     
    lock severs? -
    No need, I quite like having people JIP, the more the merrier and with the respawn system we seem to use, it works out fine.
     
    re-spawns? -
    The whole respawn in waves idea is great as it is, no need to change.
     
    first person vs third person? -
    Personally I vote for first person, I like staying immersive, it tests my vehicle and pilot abilities and keeps me up to date on my tactics and maneuvers and really, Arma is a simulator and I like playing it as such.
     
    arsenal? - 
    I would be all for Arsenal, sadly you cant really tell people what they should be using and stuff because they seem to ignore it but tbh, my loadouts that I make are 10x more realistic then the standard ones we have so I prefer having it.
     
    Sign ups -
    Yeah, people need to let you know if they can not make it other wise it causes confusions and leads to people waiting for nothing. Unless something extremely urgent serious like happened, you shouldn't have to let them know in advance, and the whole extreme urgent serious shiz is pretty rare.
     
    Overall - 
    Overall, you are great at hosting these Gauntlet gamenights and I have fun whatever the turn out, so carry on doing what yo be doing... yo?...

    Looks like Minipily is echoing me about 100%, so I'll keep it short.
     
    Only thing I've seen that I felt could be better, is ensuring that speciality roles are filled with people who are up to task.
     
    I quite like it when there's competent pilots around, as that means a rare opportunity for me to do something other than flying, but sadly I have seen a few pilots sign up for a 1st Person only session who, in my ever so humble opinion, might need some more practice flying without the landing assistance of the 3rd person camera.
     
    Other than that, it looks to me like people are taking it seriously, so that's good. It's nice to get some quiet in the helicopter on landing once in a while

    You should definitely keep making Gamenights, they are awesome!
     
    Sign Up: I would keep the signup procedure.
     
    JIP: Is also good for when a lot of people already left who signup during the event.
     
    Respawn: About the respawns i would keep them in waves.
     
    3rd Person: Sometimes it is extremely hard for pilots to land without 3rd person.
     
    Arsenal: I would keep it, but restrict the choices of the players like everyone is using the same camo or the same ammo type.

    Hi all, 
     
    I've hosted a few gamenights now and would like to ask/say a few things. First off thank you all for participating and making these events/ahoyworld great! Without you guys turning up none of this would have been possible, so cheers. 
      I know I don't make custom missions or pvp missions for game night due to several reasons, mainly I lack the skills to, however as you know I like to put a twist on Gauntlett. So do you guys want me to continuing doing these events when there's no organised events? Is there even a need to create a sign up page for this?
    Also what are your thoughts on lock severs? re-spawns? first person vs third person? arsenal?
    Personally i'm happy to keep hosting these events if there is the demand!
     
    However I would like to bring up the more serious issue of Sign Ups. I believe that it's a common know rule by now that if you sign up you should be there! If you sign up and can't attend you should notify the host either in the thread or by private message so they can adjust the role sheet. Most notable if 23 people sign up and then only 10-15 show at the standing time, it lets down the others who have turned up to have fun/ serious gameplay, due to the player count being too low for combined arms. Therefore I'm wondering if there should be a slight punishment for signing up and then not turning up without some sort of notification to the host?

    Introducing: AW_Valiant
     
     
     
    So what is this Valiant you speak of ? 
     
    Valiant is the natural "Evolution" of Gauntlet as in a lot of stuff could be done 
    better in gauntlet coding and performance wise in the back-end and instead of
    just rehashing and doing stuff to Gauntlet code i decided to just start fresh.
     
    This resulted in a back-end that is in 90% of the cases hassle free to port to a
    map as it doesn't rely on preplaced markers etc for missions spawns as it now uses 
    ​functions to find different areas etc.
     
    Hopefully this "start from scratch" approach has worked out some 
    of the quirks Gauntlet had.
     
    It also is alot more modular in terms of settings when you start the mission,
    arsenal, spectator etc. are all definable in mission params in the role select lobby.
     
    Okay... cool, so is there anything new ? 
     
    Yes! Theres is now side missions running alongside the main missions, there is emplacements
    of various kinds(in this alpha it will only be running AAA emplacements).
    And im also looking into some other stuff that is still TBA.
     
    Sweet so what should I do ? 
     
    I'm stress testing the mission for 2X players this coming date: 13-11-2015 @ 1900GMT
    and I need you to put you'r name in this FORM
    The first 2X players that sign up is going to get to play and will be briefed about 
    different aspects before we step off
     
     
     
    I hope to see a good turnout for this small stress test of Valiant.

    Hi folks!
     
    Thanks to a bunch of people who helped me test a map I'm working on - Corazol.  Here's footage I shot from Zeus perspective today:
     

     
    The premise is that a border town in Sahrani needs to be occupied: Russian and US tank platoons move in to capture it.  It's a Sector Control map, with three sectors in the town to occupy.  The US have four M1A1 tanks, two M2A3 TUSK, and a command M1025; the Russians have four T90 tanks, two BMP-3, and a command GAZ.  Both teams have two minutes to set up, and then there's a twenty minute time limit.
     
    I'll be working on this a bit more this week, with the hope that perhaps one night we could run it as a game night: I think it would be awesome to run this with as many folks as possible!

    A quick note to add everyone!
     
    Although the plan looks like we would be fighting in that entire region of Chernarus, it will actually be pushed down to a very small part of the fighting, or will there actually be a secret mission behind enemy lines? ;p
     
    The mission is a work in progress, the hardest part is just building the bases, Zues does everything else.
     
    The gamenight will probably consist of 15/20 vs 15/20 with AI filling in any areas and will require at least 2 Zues guys for each team to make things interesting!
     
    Another quick note, remember, it is a campaign, the side that wins decides where the nation will move next!

    Hello there,
     
    So me and Johnson were thinking how cool it would be for a collection of PVP gamenights, would be both fun and easy to set up as I have already thought about these ideas for months but never been able to show them.
     
    Basically, I'm hoping to host gamenights where they would be PVP campaigns or sometimes just scenarios.
     
    So the PVP gamenights would act like campaigns, basically having a back story and each battle having a motive which will add to the fun and diversity of the missions. It can start off in any way, whether it be: Invasion, ambush or half way in a war. The possibilities are endless!
     
    Here's a quick campaign idea I thought about a while back. Here's the idea:
     
    After the Russian Federation attacked American Forces stationed in Brandenburg, the Americans have retaliated and pushed the Russian forces deep into the Czech Republic. Russian forces have multiplied there forces and the fight is now at a stand still in Chernarus. Fighting at the front line is fierce and Americans are now suffering staggering losses at the might of the strengthened Russian front. The American forces must think of a plan fast before they lose the Czech Republic, get pushed back into Germany and risk a full on Russian invasion.
     
    Here's the situation according to the map:

     
     
     
     



     
    I will explain how the mission works and what exactly is going on in this campaign so long as the idea is allowed. I will also figure out times to when these gamenights happen.

    May not sound as good as I hoped but it will be serious fun if put into play, I guess what I really need is some Michael Bay base drops.

    Quick note to clear some things up: No, this will not involve like 60 vs 60, we simply do not have the players so we wont be fighting everywhere on the map, it will be scaled down to a small region to fit what I expect will be 15/20 vs 15/20.
