    Backstory for the campaign

    Welcome to the beautiful Tembelan island located in the gulf of mexico, which used to be a military training island before it was decommissioned. The island has since the decommissioning been opened up for civilians to settle and the Mexican police use the islands ex-army base as a training facility as well as housing the islands police force.

     

    In later years the Los Zetas cartel has taken over most of the island pushing the police force back to the South of the island. They are currently using the island as a haven for drug production,human trafficking and gun smuggling.

     

    A joint operation consisting of DEA,CIA and FEADS has been green lit,in an effort to cripple and stop the operation that Los Zetas is running.

    Mission

    Its the second day after arriving at Tembelan Island, we just finished moving safehouses as our local asset that lended us his mansion suddenly got cold feet. We know the Zetas are up to something but we don't know exactly what yet so we are standing by at the new location until something happens.

    Situation

     

    October 2019

    The neighboring country to Noria,Opforia, has seen increasing unrest after their oil and gas reserves ran dry 4 years ago.

    Since Noria is still rich in natural reserves the Noria government has seen increasing activity on the border, as well as more information gathering in the form of rental cars with added antennaes and cameras with large lenses observerd close to key points of infrastructure across its country.

     

    January 2020

    ALARM! Opforia's forces seemingly overnight rolled over the northern border of Noria and gained a significant foothold in the northern part of the country. Due to the sudden shift any Noria air assets couldn't scramble before it was too late and Opforia established air supperiority.

     

    Current situation

    Opforia is steadily advancing south down Norias main road network, taking bit by bit of the land.

    These are evacuated as the valley of Vidda has been declared as a warzone.

     

     

    Mission

     

    As Noria Home guards local element in Vidda, you are tasked with halting the enemies advance for long enough so that Noria's army and its allies can get up to neutralize any vanguard sent from the Opforian forces. You have been building defences at key points since Opforia invaded.

     

     

     

     

     

  4. Campaign 6 is coming to an end with this final attack on the insurgent stronghold. I encourage everyone who has time to come on and play!

    Brief summary of last Saturdays event:

     

    The patrol went even worse than we thought. Sure we knew there had to be trouble out there when we got asked by ARES-1 to assist them but no one expected this! Not enough that the region wasn't secured one bit but the Loyalists even openly attacked ARES-1 HQ and devasted the platoon. One of their squads was lucky to be out on patrol and we managed to MEDEVAC a heavily wounded soldier but that is now all that is remaining of ARES-1. Therefore, ARES Company HQ deemed them combat ineffective and is treating them back at the airfield. For us that means that we have to continue our patrol south without them to back us up if the need arises but nevertheless our platoons morale is still high as we are close to ending this damned civil war.

    This event will be a final attack against the insurgents stronghold, we are expecting heavy entrenched insurgents and fierce resistance.

    Situation is unchanged, there is still a insurgent faction trying to destabilize the country. The enemy consists of well trained militia with small arms,launchers and light vehicles\technicals.

    His most likely plan of attack is ambushing us instead of conducting direct attacks.

    His most dangerous plan of attack is direct actions against us or civilians, either by use of arms or IED\VBIEDs.

     

    Friendly Forces

    ARES Headquarters are located at GRID 147165 commanding ARES-1 and ARES-2's COIN operations

    ARES-1 is located at GRID 174131 and is currently conducting COIN OPs and securing the NE from the opfor forces.

    USMC Force recon marines are conducting COIN supported by ANA forces in the region of Lythium situated near the Pakistani and Iraqi border.

    Local insurection from the Taliban are high and have requested support and mentoring from the US forces. Our detachment is small and is best

    suited for small kinetic operations but can be expanded upon by requesting support from nearby local and Nato forces.

    Our toolset also includes the ability to search and dismantle IEDs,VBIEDs and other small EOD tasks. Our focus should be with interacting with the locals to ensure good standings with US and Afghani forces.

     

    ROE is to not fire unless fired upon as the areas that are outside city centers and the greenzone may have civilans that carry guns for self defence or is used for hunting.

    1. Situation

     

    1. Enemy: Insurgent forces armed with soviet arms. Enemy will mostly do ambushes and hit and runs against friendly forces.IED’s are also a factor to consider when planning movement.The enemy will most likely stay and fight to the last man.He does not have any supply chains setup to keep him supplied and will mostly rely on recruiting combatants from the locals. He also has acsess to captured friendly equipment and explosives and will most likely utilize them in attacks against us.

    2. Other friendly forces: ANA forces spread throughout the greenzone, operating out from Kinduf airfield.

    2.Mission

    The overall mission of our forces is to recon the area and find any enemy installations we can find and neutralize them. Any insurgents met during this operation are to be neutralized or captured.

     

    Standing march time after this briefing is 60 minutes.

     

     

     

     

     

    3.Execution

    My intent is to gather intel about enemy installations so that we can cripple the enemy's function to destabilize the region.

    My goals are to deal critical blows to the insurgents means of recruitment of civilians and also their ability to procure arms and also produce IED’s.

     

    The endstate is that the insurgents are left with no choice but to move more openly against us since we will take away their means to use more hidden methods to strike against us (IED’s,civilians etc).

     

    1. Plan: To be discussed each play session.

    1. Ammunition: Crates at FOB Iban and FOB Green

    2. Supplies: Request via Chain of command. You -> TL -> SL -> CMD

    General Info

     

    This mission is a multi session operation or MSO for short.

    If you played MSO in A2 you will know what the general idea is, if not: MSO is a mission that is designed to take multiple sessions to complete.

    How multiple session is handled is that after each event I hold, the server\mission state gets saved to a database.

    Loadouts etc. per class are set in stone and kept realistic within what the game can do and what is not a impractical in terms of gameplay.

     

    Mission

     

    The new mission is set in Afghanistan and we are playing as recon marines, it is a COIN operation(Counter Insurgency Operation) which the ALiVE mod is going to handle most of the AI and actions where as I will throw in some RP\Small missions when I feel like it would benefit the game.

    I am still toying with the idea of if its going to be like past events where the server is left up untill the campaign is finished, or if its going to be a weekend based event untill the campaign is completed. 

     

    A more thorough briefing etc. is gonna be penned up when i finish of the mission in the next week so when we are ready to kick things off you will have a better understanding of what the campaign is about.

  8. So new mission is 90% finished, switching gears from counter insurgency to full on combined arms on Lythium. Same standard modset, just bring some fighting spirit as we are facing a full on army now. 

     

    Not more to say, operation details will be in the sub-forum for the MSO withing the hour(0000-0200).

  9. Looking at some guides to use your controller for FPV sims, it seems that if you connect you rc control to you computer via the usb port it should pop up as a joystick. Atleast in windows 10. There a guide here, LINK ,  to set it up for FPV drone sims but it should be doable to connect it to the pc and then in arma configure the axes just as you would on a joystick.

     

    Do note I have no experience with this so it woudl be trial and error on your end.
