Thank you for reading. I will say that in my short time here that I have had fun learning the various aspects of playing Arma III among some others titles.

To give a small update from my side:
 
I know i have been quiet recently on all fronts. Work ramped up quick after easter with a new job and then with black friday/christmas rush its not looking like calming down any time soon. But still, the server is installed and we seem to have the mission running, i just need to ensure that restarter scripts are set up correctly to ensure stability and brush off some of the other server side setup things before im happy to push live. Also wanting to ensure that staff have all the tools they need to ensure that everyone can have an enjoyable time on the server!

Situation
Thanks to the insurgent personnel captured we have received actionable intel about the location of 2 western journalists captured 6 months ago.
The captured insurgents have informed us that the hostages are routinely move and provided us with 2 locations that they are expected to be in.
While not part of our original plan, there has been a reward offered for the hostages rescue and doing so would hurt the insurgency.
 
Independent to this it has been confirmed that the hostages may be being held by one of our targets Ali Daeem Ali, an ex Baathist party member who is a political figure inside the insurgency. Ali Daeem Ali, will be well defended and there is a possibility of him fleeing if spooked.
 
We have announced our presence in the area so expect security to be on a more heightened setting.

Situation
With the withdrawal of NATO forces from the region local government forces have been stretched thin. They maintain a tense peace with local tribal factions and are besieged by an insurgency. In an attempt not to overstretch themselves government forces have fallen back to secure key locations including towns and oil production in the area. The northern territory is split between Tribal fighters and insurgents, with the two regularly fighting over the area. To make up for the shortcomings the government has issued bounties on insurgent members claimable by international PMC organisations. The CHADS have taken this opportunity to claim these lucrative bounties.
 
An advance force has made contact with tribal leaders and we have gained permission to setup camp in their territory and for their forces are to be treated as friendly. Our first set of targets is ready and waiting for the CHADS to hit the ground.

You have probably seen the teaser trailer by now & know AW will be getting a DCS server. I don't want to see the mission going up and being a complete surprise to the majority of players so I'm going to do my best to keep the development of the mission as open as possible. Hopefully this will result in a mission that we all like (already being built on responses to this topic)
 
As the mission editor is a cluttered mess I have put together a award winning render of the mission state atm.
 
A bit of detail on what's in/planned for these areas.
 
Spawn:
- Spawn points (there will be a place for you to request more of certain modules in case you find that one you own is not there or just not enough to go around)
- CTLD pickup point
 
Heli CAS Range:
This range has multiple objectives,
- A target area that will not fire back or move (simple target practice) 
- A target area that shoots back & moves around to try and avoid death (bit more deadly target practice)
 
Static Jet CAS Range
- A Varity of targets that will not react or fire on you so you can practice your weapon employments without risk of being shot down.
 
Convoy Range
- A moving convoy to practice your convoy strike skills
 
Air to Air Range
- A selecting of unarmed BLUE & RED jets mixed together to practice your Air to Air weapon skills & IFF ability's (these jets will not react or fire back)
 
Anti Ship Range & Spawns
-  Viggen & JF-17 spawns at Batumi to launch anti ship strikes from
- Carrier strike group made up off the Forrestal, Tarawa & Kuznetsov (Harrier, F/A-18, F-14 & SU-33 spawns)
- Out to the west you will find a few ships to practice your anti shipping skills on (at this time they will not fire back or intercept)
 
Now for the big one, Dynamic Range.
These are objectives that will shoot back & move around as you destroy them. One objective will show at a time, once it has been destroyed a new objective will spawn & have a chance of increasing the RED air presence. RED air assets will patrol the area after objective one is destroyed, this wont just a be limited to jets but also a few helicopters. 
You will also notice a BLUE FARP, this is a second spawn point for both CAS & Logistic Helis. The idea behind this is to allow heli pilots to take part in the main arena. CTLD is enabled at the FARP so logistics can build SAM sites to take down enemy air, deploy troops to close by AO's or build Combined Arms enabled vics to take into battle yourself. 
(RED Forces will not leave or shoot outside the dynamic range area leaving the other targets a safe place to practice the needed skills to enter the dynamic range) *the range is as dynamic as I can make at this time, as the mission versions progress so will the range randomness*

Feel free to comment in the request area or on this forum thread, I will be doing what I can to accommodate requests but some may be out of my current skill range or don't fit the mission.

Situation:
November 10th 1983
As the conclusion of exercise Able Archer 83 West German units are returning to normal operations.   The Panzergrenadierbataillon 606, was assigned to Weferlingen for the exercise.
 
During the exercise Recce Company has been tasked with monitoring ‘Soviet’ manoeuvres across the line and has been spread thin.
 
Mission:
In the event of Soviet invasion, the plan was for the A. Coy, Panzergrenadierbataillon 606, supported by a recce company detachment is to destroy key bridges leading into their AO.  These are objectives Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, and Spy.
 
Recce Detachment;
Alpha:
1x Rifle Squad (A. Panergrenadier)

2x AT Rifleman
 
2x Iltis LATGM.
1x Iltis Medical.

Execution:
A. Coy, with recce  detachment, is to demolish the designated bridges preventing Soviet Armour from pushing the bridges.
 
Once the bridges were destroyed recce was to move to reinforce A Coy Obj Huntsman and screen any push towards A Coy HQ at Obj Wolf.
 
B Coy would operate independently South of Querenhorst with its own Recce detachment.
 
Sustainment:
A. Coy Recce Detachment would have a supply point set up at the radio compound between Meinkot and Obj Soldier.
 
Medical Iltis would serve as a respawn and medical vehicle.  Additional vehicles captured could also be used to treat wounded.
 
Engineering vehicles could be used to repair, refuel and rearm vehicles.
 
Command and Control:
Operational command will be with Squad Leader.
 
Able Archer 83 Initial AAR:
Forces would suffer high casualties, trying to hold initial Soviet push.  Their vehicles, and supplies could either be salvaged or destroyed depending on the situation.
 
It is expected that any Soviet push would be led by Russian armour therefore it would be imperative for fast moving recce detachments to help destroy the bridges as quickly as possible.

So here is my dumb/brilliant idea:  We have an event that runs on a weekend day, we hype it and try and get the server full right from server restart and maybe try and coordinate so the really early/late slots are full, but the idea is we want all slots full for the event.  We could try and see if the Arma3 Twitter account would boost the event and isn't there some popular Arma podcast we could pitch this to?  It seems like a fun way to try and get the community together for a common cause and see if we can actually beat I&A3, and since Invade & Annex is at least semi well known, get some free advertisement that Ahoy is where I&A was born and maybe get some new players.
 
What inspired this idea is the motorsports endurance race where drivers/crew/etc... take stints to try and get their car over the finish line first.  It would be an endurance race... of murder!
 
There's probably all sorts of other fun ideas that could be incorporated into this, but I'll leave that to the AW community if anyone thinks this idea has merit.  But really, I think it would be fun to try and band together to beat I&A3.  Nothing would make me happier than being unable to find a open slot for this event as long as someone streamed it.

It's been 3 months (and 2 weeks, don't @me) so it's time for the next Community Meeting. It will be held on Friday 5th at 19:00UTC on TeamSpeak.

I've never seen a situation where we have all the FOBs and from what I understand there is an actual end-game if we complete all the missions.  I don't know what happens, probably we all get nuked.
 
So here is my dumb/brilliant idea:  We have an event that runs on a weekend day, we hype it and try and get the server full right from server restart and maybe try and coordinate so the really early/late slots are full, but the idea is we want all slots full for the event.  We could try and see if the Arma3 Twitter account would boost the event and isn't there some popular Arma podcast we could pitch this to?  It seems like a fun way to try and get the community together for a common cause and see if we can actually beat I&A3, and since Invade & Annex is at least semi well known, get some free advertisement that Ahoy is where I&A was born and maybe get some new players.
