Well i guess i will be a bit part devils advocate of EU1/2, and part advertiser of EU3.

In comparison between the 2, EU3 is indeed made up of people generaly who want that feeling of team work and role play. Medics dont carry around Zafirs, Riflemans dont lop around a Interventio/Lynx, and CAS doesnt indiscimately bomb a AO.

However before people go on EU3 thinking nice, they should also be aware that the carefree do as you like atitude of EU1/2 ofcourse doesnt apply. Rules on EU3 are strict, and at times might be harsh, especialy if you new, or comming over from EU1/2.

So yes you will never fix the lonewolf, LMG hogging, missile totting medics of EU1/2 by anny means unless you change its carefree lollygagging nature to a evenly scrict rules heavy state then EU3.

And thats why there is a EU1/2 and a seperate EU3. After all some of us like that stricter rules enviroment, but some might not, so i guess we dont want to force them to be like on EU3.

Best advise came from Buglet, when you see such bad playing/non-role playing medics, or CAS for that part, then best thing is to play the role yourself and give a better example. You may not win over those lonewolfs, but might inspire some others to do the same as you non the less.

Thats indeed one of my fears, i want to play tactical and teamplay focused sniper/spotter. But as you say a dedicated slot often atracts lonewolfs which is what i wish to avoid. I guess a 4 man recon squad would be ideal as a alternative, then they can be retasked when command feels a sniper/spotter might be handy.

Meanwhile, whenever someone is on the server and feels like teaming up with me, i am up for playing a recon/sniper role if the PC will allow me, otherwise i have no problem being a marksman attached to a fireteam and help out that way.

I like the idee, aldo not so much about the getting kicked part. If there is to be a negative to hitting a civ, it should be in 1)score - after all you still score points in this game, and 2) Maybe a longer respawn timer - like +30 sec for each civ killed.

However i would love to see just some civilians in an AO or gamenights Zeus mission, would make for an interesting twist in how you need to handle situations.

I respect that this community let's admins play - on an old server I played on, admins were expected to do nothing but administrate. It was quite dull, and they didn't get very far because no one wanted to be an admin!
Honestly, my answer is usually to just fix the problem myself. If the medics are bad, I'll play a medic; if pilots aren't doing their job, I'll play a pilot. It solves a lot of problems, and when you decide to play well people will follow suit - it really does pay off to lead by example (I will cherish the day when video game players realise that sitting and raging never fixes a damn thing). It's simple psychology, if a bunch of bad medics see you playing as a good medic, they'll see it and think "damn that guys good and he looks like he's having fun. Maybe I should put down the rocket launcher and LMG!"

thx for the insight. you definitily touch a few known points. However on EU1 the gameplay tends to be more casual and faster paced. EU3 (modded server) is slightly more slow paced and tactics relative as to how pilots fly and act. You might want to try EU3 out if you like playing that way, im sure you would have a blast, but i would also hope to see future pilots in EU1/2 adapt some of you pointers to there gameplay as it does promote a smoother more logistical game.

Ok so i would just apolagize for the way i responded to Leo (player) little stunt. Not so much to him, he got banned for good reasons, but more to those who may have witnessed my little meltdown. I'm not sure how much i send out through actual TS, but i had a bit of a smash the desk mood after that, and i hope i didnt go to far with the verbals there.

On a good note thought, it was fun being Platoon Command for those of you there. It didnt go nearly as smooth as most times, especialy on the organizing point, so i guess i will work on that in the future. Thanks for playing and thanks for letting me do command.

Ofcourse at the time of my vote, im the first to vote No.

To explain, while i find it a fun idee to go back and do arma2  with Ace, i think we will leave feeling disapointed afterwards because Arma3 for all its faults, is just better then Arma2 can ever be even with mods. The graphics arn't even the biggest concern here, but Arma3 runs alot smoother for me the Arma2

Add to that the fact we would need to setup mods and stuff too, it would be alot of "extra" work for everyone, but the admins the most i guess.

Nope, im against rank system. We currently have a simple system i place that says "Listen to the chain of command". Ranks would just cause one guy with sergeant rank too ignore a private rank player who happens to be the only one to step up and lead a squad. It gives people the wrong idee of being better or more important then there fellow player due to rank.

    Voted as well.

    - On the interwiews: i would say yes, but it will get tedious for all those who do the interviews.

    - 3 to 4 slots: Yes, it would be better then doing everything, also i would like to see pilot slots more restricted, or atleast have 2 of those slots set so only experienced pilots can use those slots. Not easy to scripts/do i know, but the amount of new players jumping in a A-10 only to crash it is getting bigger lately.

    - I chose choosing camo, however i would advise only for normal weekdays to do that. During gamenights i would inforce Squadlead or Platoon Command choosing the camo for that gamenight.

    - Optional Training: This one is a bit of a mixed bag, i would like enforced training, but many might not be willing to do that (new players). Optional training would also show who might be willing to improve themselves and listen to critique, thus showing they are perhaps better suited for higher roles like Squadlead and such. I always find those who are willing to train and who listen to advise to be better at becoming leaders then those that will ignore that and just continue doing it their own way.

I did not vote for the last choice, custom or normal maps.

Started this thread to address a few things and try to outfuck myself with some of the fellow ahoy family, here goes...

First of all I would like to apologise to anyone who I have annoyed and to those who I have definitely annoyed, yeah stuff has gone bad with me and I aint been the best guy but there's a lot of issues going on right now and I just wanna let ya'll know.

    1. I got IRL shit happening, kinda stressful and not just that but I got a few bad things happening which I would rather not talk about.
    2. I get insulted many times ingame, mainly EU3 because of me being a prat at times and because some people just don't like me for some odd reason, I have addressed this with other people on the server who understand.
    3. EU3 has lost it's touch for me, I feel a major loss in people wanting to do new things since EU3 was launched and with newbies I find myself and others teaching more than learning new things.
    4. List goes on for other stuff I'd rather not type.

So again, sorry and i'm trying my best to change things but right now I'm just gunna have a cooldown time, possible just change to a realism unit, possibly... *whispers in ear* possibly...

Overall Ahoy World is the best group I have ever had the pleasure of playing with and quiet frankly you deserve better, sorry.

If i'm gone, i'm gone, i'll be in the corner if you need me.

P.S: If any admins need to know about the EU3 incident, talk to Josh or me, I have witnessed more problems that has been addressed and my incident with Dildor isn't anywhere near as bad as what other people did, not naming names but some you wouldn't believe would be doing something they did.

Unfortuetly we had a bit of a rough day on EU3 too. It's a shame realy, cause normaly EU3 has a solid player base that knows to just have fun within the ruleset. Let's hope it was the last time, and just focus on having fun in a nice and non-rule-violating way.
