This mod might make a suitable replacement for MNP. It only re-textures some RHS stuff offering a bit more variety while still keeping consistent with RHS. The mod attempts to add extra gear while keeping "clutter to a minimum" so I would say it's pretty perfect.

Maybe that's a valid point though?

No spare barrel means there's a semi-serious consequence to continuous fire, and thus it might be that continuous fire will happen less frequently?

I'm not really for or against, just thinking out loud

It won't stop someone "stealing" the asset, but it does provide a little time in which to stand next to the guy, making your case in Direct.

Be surprised how reasonable people can be if they're communicating with a voice rather than a text.

Not a solution, but maybe an improvement:

Spawn all Side Rewards locked, unlock after three minutes.

Should provide enough time for someone to respawn and stake their claim, while not leaving the vehicle unusable if nobody has a claim.

10+ people go to a side mission, all are involved in the success, there is a group of 3, a group of 2, and 5 individual guys.

    Who gets the reward?

Heck you could spawn the reward 20ft away from the side misison, but that tank or attack chopper (for example) can only hold so many, who gets it?

This is why it doesn't work. you just can't police this on a public server, as you can have the argument at a side mission team level, let alone a server level.

My own view is very similar, though I'm interested in how you interpret "more things to do."

For my part, I like having a lot of stuff for scenario creators to play around with, but once we're actually playing, I appreciate it when everyone looks like they're part of the same unit, that is wearing the same style of uniform and LBE/PPE, and using the same styles of weapons. I greatly dislike it when a 14-man squad starts looking like they recruited off Craigslist and all the recruits brought their own gear from their local supplier.

I usually refer to my preference as "looking good on video," because I believe part of what makes video from ShackTac and the like is that they look organized, and the uniform look of the players contribute to that. Just imagine a Shack video where everyone is wearing different camo.

I also believe that looking organized can help players want to be organized. Instill it, if you will.

    Not really, no.

These are essentially retextures of the existing Russian assets. As I stated before, Middle Eastern Factions present a custom faction with a completely different weapon set, where ALL factions in RHS that aren't Blufor are slight derivations of the AK+Soviet gear.  You can make an argument that SAF is different but that's essentially a motley of Blufor and Opfor gear. I'm not really excited about making them a player faction or an enemy faction because there will be an increase in friendly fire due to similar weaponry used by players and enemies.

Why the hate for middle eastern factions? It's literally a 100kb mod.  I get that people have a perception problem with PLA China, but as has been demonstrated repeatedly the idea that they are overarmored compared to RHS is a bit blown out of proportion.

    Release date: April 2019

I wouldn't open up that can of worms.

This was fixed in my update of the mod, unfortunately we have a config error we can't track down at the moment, so for the time being it's not being used.

    Still available in vehicle selection

IIRC there are some 7.62x51 weapons out of SMA that don't use RHS mags, even with the compatibility add-on.

Personally I also count things like weight, "felt" recoil and accuracy as factors that contribute to something being OP or not.

Most BAF stuff is OP primarily by virtue of it weighing as little as 60% of their equivalent RHS counterparts. AT4s and the L129A1 are perfect examples of this phenomenon.

I do feel pretty safe in saying that a large if not humongous majority of the players consider RHS the de-facto standard to follow on server, for better or worse.

From that viewpoint, SMA is poorly balanced and duplicates existing assets. I'm with Noah on the "less is more" approach, both in weapon, clothing and PPE selection.

I also don't care about repo size, and I don't think everything in the repo needs to be available on Stiletto. If something could be useful for a custom scenario, then it pays for itself, IMHO.

Would like to chip in and just mention that the attraction of Enhanced was the gameplay. Came for the teamwork, dynamic and difficulty. Not bothered what weapon I use to shoot an enemy, the shade of green or pattern my uniform has or even if the enemy face is made up of 3 pixels. Will always back mods/development that provide a tense & fun experience that I got when I first played ❤️

People go on and on about the textures in the mod packs. Yes, there are subtle differences in the textures, and it's mainly noticeable if you are comparing Arma 2 (pre OA / British Forces) gear and A3/RHS gear. From about 5 feet away. As soon as you get further than 5 feet away, another LoD (Level of Detail) kicks in and all those wonderful textures are history.

Not to mention the fact that the majority of combat in this game takes place at distances of 200+ meters.  At which point you're basically shooting at forms which are about 10-20 pixels in size.

For me, it's about functionality and providing assets which (more or less) accurately model the battlespace we're trying to present. I agree there is a baseline of quality that is pleasing to the eye (the CUP US military uniforms are legitimately garbage) but frankly all that stuff disappears when you're in the heat of the moment.

    A couple of notes -

Generally - our survey results suggested the majority of players aren't really concerned about the size of the repo, so I'm not sure what the overall aim of this exercise is. You talk about change as a goal, but what I'm seeing is just removing content so that it's not available.

    1) Gorgona and Kunduz will eventually be removed, Kunduz had to stay until at least 059 because I'd accidentally used a few structures from that mod pack to populate some buildings on Lythium
    2) PLA & Middle East Factions are tiny mods, just config files that leverage existing assets, without them you are essentially fighting nothing but Russians
    3) Killoch's MNP is in use by PLA & Middle East Factions, as well as a few players, I think it could be possible to use other uniforms not in MNP for them. There will of course be the standard contingent of players who will be upset that they have to redo all their loadouts because the uniforms will no longer exist in the arsenal.  I'm not married to MNP, I agree with Noah that some of the uniforms are OP.
    4) SMA, I'm not super happy with the imbalance on some of the weapons, but again some people feel very strongly for them (as your own poll shows) - for example magazine weight it not consistent
    5) For DAR, yes, the textures are pure Arma 2, but I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for RHS to add additional content. It will probably happen eventually, but in the meantime, those vehicles add very useful functionality based on the way players tend to play the mission.  Players tend to drive vehicles to the AO and then advance on foot. Theoretically I could remove DAR, Strykers and LAV25 and the majority of players wouldn't notice a difference.  However since we are trying to emulate some form of realism I'm loathe to do that as those vehicles are hugely integrated into the US branches of the military, which we are often playing.
5a) For the Stryker and LAV, we had got those working quite successfully but then an issue cropped up which continues to pop a config error. It's on the to do list.

If we were having a conversation about the mod pack, I'd entertain discussion of integrating CUP in its entirety, but to go down that route would probably the third rail of AWE politics. There is a ton of excellent content in that mod, but all it takes is one crappy texture and people are willing to cross the entire package off the list.

    I dont care about mod-sizes.

I just hate the look of the DAR HMMWVs because I hate playing games with bad textures.
I dislike SMA because I like gear-restrictions => If lesser gear is available, the better is the server in my opinion.
I hate MNP because most of it looks stupid and all but 8 of the uniforms are OP. The remaining ones only offer disadvantages. Also the same as with SMA: If lesser stuff is available, the more I enjoy the gameplay.

L103A2 is a "Drill Pattern" weapon, which means it's literally incapable of firing live ammunition. It's a weapon given out to cadets for drill and training purposes.

Probably should just be removed from Arsenal.

I remain unable to understand why in the bloody hell it's even in the weapon pack from 3CB, it makes no bloody god damn sense to have spent even a single solitary second doing any work to make that happen

Laser guided bombs such as the GBU-12 no longer require a lock prior to drop. With Tanks DLC we now have LOAL (Lock-On After Launch) functionality, and the bomb will guide itself to any valid laser in its vicinity. The pilot simply has to drop the bomb into an area around the intended target. This also allows for the bomb to be dropped before the laser is on.

While I don't have the specifics in front of me, I believe some roles had bipods removed in an effort to combat the extreme prevalence of hill camping.
It's still very much possible to weapon rest, that feature doesn't require a bipod.

The Nightstalker optic was removed years ago, in large part because it was a primary factor in accidental teamkilling.
Until recently, I&A was locked to a specific date, but it now takes its date setting from real life. This means it's currently playing in the cold season, which leads to thermal optics being less effective. This will change back to "normal" as we approach summer.

No, you can't buy a thermal camera that is as good as what you see in ArmA 3.

The Apex DLC ENVGs have never been enabled on Ahoyworld servers. See above comment on thermal optics leading to TKs.

No, you can't buy thermal goggles that are as good as what you see in ArmA 3.

No, without mods or heavy scripting it is not possible to change the loadout of an existing asset on a live server.

AFAIK, with Tanks update, Titan Compact is no longer able to lock on a laser paint.

If you say "pls" because it's shorter than "please", I will say "no" because it's shorter than "yes."

In all seriousness, feedback is good, but you need to work on your approach here.

This reads like you were in a fit of rage while typing it up, and that's rather counterproductive to what you're trying to achieve.

I invite you to rephrase this post, as in its current form it leaves a poor impression and probably doesn't reflect your intent.

Please point me to any army unit in the world who, on a normal patrol/combat mission in an area like altis, take out SMGs.  Even (heavily) armed police prefer carbines over SMGs because of their increased stopping power.

To get more to the point:
Currently the following units do not have access to some type of rifle, like the spar-16: pilots, snipers, ARs.

So euh, what exactly is the problem?

The ASP-1 is in no way shape or form a sniper rifle.  It'd be a rifle given to 1 specific guy in a special forces team.  And no, that would not be the sniper.  At any range above 300 meters the ASP-1 has more resemblance to indirect fire support than to a rifle.
Only 2 guys on the entire server have access to the M320 & GM6, so use it.  If you don't want to be detected by AI as a marksman with a mar-10 put a suppressor on it.  Go sit next to a sniper at a range of 500 meters.  The supressed mar-10 has less chance of being detected than the M320 & GM6.
And ghillie suits have, on multiple occasions, been proven useless against AI in arma.
