    Thanks folks, I'm sorry I couldn't be there for the actual test. Family stuff I couldn't get away from...
    This has been the bane of my existence, next to vehicle respawning. I have no idea what's causing this. I think it's related to using publicVariable to try and send a large chunk of text, but I don't see where I do that.
     
    Hmmm, this kind of sucks because it means Bohemia uses the createVehicleLocal in one of its scripts, and I'm disabling the command as an anti-hacking measure. I have a sense it's connected to vehicle smoke launchers as it stems from 22:22:09 File A3\functions_f\Effects\fn_effectFiredSmokeLauncher.sqf [BIS_fnc_effectFiredSmokeLauncher], line 52, however I'm surprised they'd use a local effect for that.
     
    Achilles uses its own functions, and since I have disabled the ability of clients to remotely execute functions and scripts on the server unless they are specifically whitelisted, I am basically reduced to waiting to see what functions and scripts produce this error, and then whitelisting them. 048 should fix achilles, and a variety of other things that weren't working...
     
    I'm not sure what's causing this, but I'm investigating. I had heard a report that it's linked to opening up the static inventory boxes, so I will be replacing those with standard arsenal boxes, by popular demand.

    There are some provisions in the mission for faster removal of dead bodies and wrecks; my intention with the cleanup script is to try and remove bodies that have been clearly abandoned by players so they don't immediately despawn in full view of the player. Every "cleanup period" the script checks all dead bodies and wrecks to see if they're within a certain distance of any player, and if not, they are removed. Further, there is a scaled acceleration so if we are more than 20 players, both the frequency of this cleanup period, and the distance from any player, are reduced.  I'll continue to fine tune these numbers.
     
    As for the presence of enemies, that is such a tricky thing. If I scale back the number of enemies, people complain that the AOs are completed too quickly.
     
    That's a Bohemia/Arma thing, not related to the mission.
     
    I'll definitely have to check where it went...
     
    I don't know why they're still doing that, I've gone to great lengths to try and get them to stop doing that...
     
    These were both functions that didn't make it into the whitelist, they're there in version 048.
     
    I'd like to eventually implement this, for both Crossroads as well as the specialized roles (Sierra/Tango recon, Armor, Vortex trans, Viper and Reaper CAS).
     
    I think those doors are locked by Bohemia.
     
    I'm not sure what's up with the grenadier role, but I've seen that before, as well.
     
    Again, another function that wasn't whitelisted, it's entered now and that should work.
     
    All players, even Vortex pilots, are classed as "rifleman" - it's the squad / role that determines whether you can fly a heli or not.
     
    I'm glad to catch that, that's a common way hackers are able to give themselves a method to run scripts on the server.  Not that I'm saying you did, but that's why that command is disabled, as the mission will never need to run that.
     
    I'm sorry to say that this isn't actually that useful a comment, unless you can give me some additional context (ie., you encountered FPS problems in a specific situation and it fluctuated a lot - good one second, bad the next). I don't know anything about your computer and internet connection, which are both huge factors in determining how your client runs the mission.  Most people report better FPS in 4 than in 3.
     
    Yes, the setFog command wasn't whitelisted - the weather commands are now available.

    just some things i noticed from the test:
     
    1. goblin uav fell down (crashed)  like a brick when it spawned in the air again after "servicing"
    2. donating points doesn't work (pressing "donate" doesn't do anything)
    3. buying uav actions doesn't work (pressing "purchase" doesn't do anything)
     
    some suggestions (my opinion):
    1. make Crossroads whitelisted or somthing along those lines so not every person can just grab to troll with
        maybe apply for HQ acces on forums
        or maybe an in game voting system so that if someone wants the role they can cast a vote among the other players
    2. Opening doors of the tower would be fun to use as atc

    Climate change is real, it is happening right now. It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species, and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating.
    We need to support leaders around the world who do not speak for the big polluters, but who speak for all of humanity, for the indigenous people of the world, for the billions and billions of underprivileged people out there who would be most affected by this.

    Where do I begin? 2018 has been a very adventurous year for AhoyWorld! we have seen a change in Leader, a significant Staff restructure and even quite a new playerbase. I'm sure that 2019 will be another adventuresome year for AhoyWorld, and there will be many changes, and we hope that we can still continue to thrive with your generous donations.

    The time has come for me to say goodbye for this awesome community! im simply running out of time and i need to take long brake from gaming atleast until summer.

    I have finished the next update to IA4, we are now at beta 042.
     
    Here is the changelog for 041:
    1. Removed red smoke grenades from player arsenal to avoid confusion.
    2. Pilot roles now added to UAV chat channel.
    3. Spotted markers now disappear on dead targets instead of turning into civilian markers.
    4. Tweak to map / waypoint display
    5. Ammo drop fixed (now just one crate)
    6. Spotting range changed to 2d distance rather than 3d distance
    7. Player in command of squad is now indicated by ^ marker in squad menu.
    8. Fixes to cleanup script.
    9. Secondary missions won't spawn if players aren't connected (persistent mission quality of life issue).
    10. Tweaks to fog.
    11. Tweaks to vehicle respawning
    12. Pilots may now carry and use Tool kits.
    13. Tweaks to player healing, hopefully fixed reward for this.
    14. Fixes to destroy enemy artillery side mission:
    - reduced by 100% the rate at which artillery fires.
    - players in artillery danger zone receive notification that rounds are incoming.
    15. Tweaks to ammo box drop.
    16. Tweak to role selection (you cannot join Viper or Reaper if an appropriate vehicle is not available to use)
    17. Reduced initial spawned ground vehicles to prevent clutter.
    18. Disabled side voice chat.
    19. Added UAV View to IA4 menu - you must be Platoon Commander, Squad Leader, Team Leader or Spotter role to use this. It's currently a bit buggy - unexpected results may occur.
     
    ... and what to expect in 042:
    1. Added custom repair / refuel / rearm scripting to the service pads. Use the welding cart / tool cart / engine crane by each pad to activate vehicle servicing.
    - The vehicle closest to the service pad (Rescue helipad) will be serviced.
    - Vehicle engine must be turned off for servicing.
    2. Redesigned the bases to accommodate integrated helipads. Helicopters may be serviced at the helipads. De-cluttered some of the billboards; billboard media rotates on billboards every 20 seconds.
    3. Tweaks to vehicle respawning
    4. Complete overhaul of UAV view control.
    5. Added 'what's new in I+A4' dialog
    6. Enemy units drop weapons again now that gear restrictions have been loosened.
    7. Reduced frequency of ambient AI spawns, and increased ranges from any player that ambient can spawn in at.
    8. Added 'Nudge Vehicle' action to vehicles to allow you to get the unstuck. Must be empty of crew, nothing behind it, and will provide a small amount of velocity rearward.
    9. Overhauled reward points donation. It is now a separate submenu beside the vehicles, weapons, gears and miscellaneous tabs on the top of the dialog. You can now specify a specific player, a group, or the whole team.
     
    The next beta test is tomorrow (Friday) at 1900 UTC, on EU1!

    We've been taking a look at this for I&A4.  Here's the proposed implementation:
     
    1) In base, you're restricted to your class weapons. We don't want Medics armed with rocket launchers; rather we want players to appreciate the utility of each of the individual roles. If you are given, or pick up, a piece of gear that you couldn't ordinarily equip yourself with, you put it down automatically on the ground.
    2) Outside of base (400m) you can pick up and use any gear that is available, but you are restricted to walking as long as it's in your inventory.
     
    In both cases, you're given a nag hint that tells you what the offending gear is or was.
     
    This "should" address the idea of keeping each role special, while also allowing players to use non-class gear in extraordinary situations.

    Ahoy all,
     
    Not much to report this month, we have some good news and unfortunately not so good news.
     
    AWE
    As you are aware changes have already been made in AWE;
    Colsta has stepped down handing his Team Lead role over to Mouldy.
    Repo size has been massively reduced to 16g in total.
    There are more to follow which I can't go in to details just yet.
     
    I would like to thank all the AWE staff team for their hard work in making this happen and continuing to improve the experience for all. 
     
    IA4
    We are very close to completion of Invade and Annex 4 although no date is yet to be revealed.
    Our first beta test will begin tomorrow Friday 26th October at 1900UTC on EU2.
     
    Lastly, the not so good news;
    Our server fees and Teamspeak licence are due this month, once those are paid our funds will be critical.
    Piranha has kindly donated privately to last us until Jan, If this trend continues then we may have to look at the possibility of closing down in January/February time.
    We have already decided to drop down to a smaller Teamspeak server to save cost and are discussing other options to ensure our survival.

    This one is a lot more chaotic than the Blackfish guide, but I decided to keep it that way as it impresses the need to multitask on UAV, rather than editing it up into self contained chunks. This is purely a functional guide, so it does not describe the expected communication between players, I felt that is something best left to the individual, to learn with, and also does not describe the full extent of the UAV tricks. (such as abusing Darters and datalink to your squad) I was tempted to add them but I already knew this was gonna be a long vid as it was...
     
    I know this is going to be out of date real quick with I&A4, but I also got the impression that this may give some of the guys who are less familiar with the UAVs an idea of how the role works, and the multitasking nature of it, which maybe helps with balancing/testing whatever comes out of the role in I&A4.
