Thanks to swift action of the Altian special forces the hostage situation was dealt with without much issue. All HVTs were rescued, albeit some of them were injured in the process. The team has also successfully defused the explosive charges set by the enemy. Our sources indicate that Phantom, who was behind this attack, survived the encounter and escaped. There is a possibility that he left the site even before the assault started, which would also mean that Freedom would have been able to extract the HVTs as well. This in turn means that they likely had no plans of kidnapping them - they wanted them buried beneath the rubble when the charges go off.

While many officers believe that Freedom was left to its own devices for far too long and action must be taken against them soon, the high command has decided to focus on the Russians. With the aggressive Russian push on Malden and recent Altian success at Molos, an operation is launched to regain the ground lost to the Russians in the eastern part of the island. Many think it unwise, as Altian forces are hardly prepared for the offensive, but the minds of high command couldn't be changed. They are determined to push before the Russians recover fully from the damage inflicted behind their lines. Even with ever more heated arguments erupting between various colonels and generals of the Altian armed forces, the Altian counterattack is scheduled to commence, no matter how rushed and unprepared it might be.

You are tasked with retaking the territory in the eastern part of the island, lost to the Russians after they dominated the skies. Ideally, we want you to push back the Russians and secure the territory, but we are uncertain how "viable" that is. Worst case scenario consider it to be recon by combat. Destroy enemy fortifications and support isntallations, primarily the drone hub located somewhere in the area. Be wary of possible Russian counterattack, as well as enemy aircraft. More information will be provided soon.

Altian forces managed to secure Molos and surroudning area and repel the VMF landing. The Russians took great risk by deciding to commit to another area rather than reinforce existing frontline and this loss will set them back fairly significantly. Altian intelligence reports that these events were a reason for Russian high command to be extremely displeased with actions of the general who was commanding the Altis Invasion force. Displeased enough that he was relieved of his duties as commanding officer and for the time being the senior commander of the Russian force is colonel Ivan Ivanovitch "The Shark" Bukov. Despite his aggressive nature he was reportedly ordered to hold the offensive until reinforcements arrive to assure adequate advantage. Intelligence is also fairly certain that the renowned general Vsevolod Mikhailovitch Izhutin, known more widely as "Chessmaster" - currently the commander of Malden Invasion Force - has requested to take command of the Altis force. While his request was denied for now, there are strong indications that he will be put in charge of Altis force when Malden falls.

The situation on Malden is not good. The Russians are advancing slowly, but steadily, utilising every weakness of defending forces. It also seems that Chessmaster opted to increase his speed of advance to compensate for Russian failures on Altis. It is clear that despite decently sized US garrison stationed on Malden, the island won't hold for long.

On Altis, however, for the first time there is some hope for the defense of the island. The loan provided by the Americans to buy weapons from manufacturers in USA and other NATO countries allowed Altian military to start replenishing equipment losses. As shipments start arriving on the archipelago and equipment and vehicles are distributed to frontline forces, high command grows hopeful in their ability to hold off the Russians. Of course there are still substantial Russian forces at reserve which could support the invasion, it is clear by now that neither Russia nor USA are willing to commit their full might to this conflict. While NATO and Russian troops are firing upon one another, the war is viewed as more of a proxy war rather than a clash between superpowers, with both sides trying to minimize possible escalation of the conflict.

There is still the danger from Freedom forces, which for unknown reason are still opting not to move. Altian intelligence is working hard to discover their plans but there is still little information about what their intention is and what files they were trying to access on Gatekeeper servers.

As Altian high command re-evaluates the defense plans and entertains themselves with an idea of re-taking part of the territory lost to Russians, shocking news come through: Freedom forces under command of Phantom have infiltrated a top-secret, high-security meeting. Their intentions are unknown, but now the Altian prime minister, minsiter of defense and several high-ranking military personnel are being held hostage.

    Ahoy all,

    Hope you are all well!

I would just like to update you on the status of the server upgrades. As you all know we have recently upgraded our primary server, Flagship. This upgrade has gone very well and we are happy with the performance increase that we have experianced.

We have Just ordered the new server that will replace Valient, the box that is currently running MSO and AWE events. This box will have the same specification as Flagship with the difference being that the server will have an extra 500GB M.2 drive. This is to allow us to accommodate the mods and modsets that the modded gamenights require and support the headless clients that we run to ease the load on the main server. We will keep you updated on the progress of these developments to the Ahoyworld infastructure!

Altian forces menaged to deal with Russian airborne force and prevented the town of Syrta from falling into insurgent hands. However, the Russians managed to destroy the radar station, severely limiting Altian radar coverage over the island and making it a lot easier for Russian aircraft to operate. The following two weeks shown that Russians were very much aware of that fact, as large quantities of five-hundred-kilogram metal buckets filled with high explosive have been steadily falling from the sky. The loss of radar combined with enemy SEAD activity renders long range AA defenses of Altis largely ineffective and the invading Russians are utilizing this advantage. The fact that Russian radar and SAM launchers were among targets hit by Altian special forces somewhat helps, but the battle for the sky is now fought by fighters and unfortunately combined Russian and Gatekeeper air wings have an advantage over Altian air force.

Under heavy bombardment the Altian forces holding the frontline in the eastern part of the island were forced to retreat and give up ground. Largely unopposed, the Russians advanced along the eastern shore towards Kalochori before meeting any real resistance. Additionally, in an attempt to accelerate the invasion progress they opted for a risky move. VMF forces that were supposed to reinforce the western section were re-directed to attempt landing at the north-eastern end of Altis. They made landfall under air cover of their aircraft and have taken the town of Molos, as well as a nearby airfield, which was luckily evacuated in time.

Altian high command realizes that they cannot afford to split their forces to hold yet another frontline. The VMF force must be dealt with immediately. If the Russians secure a foothold in the north Altian military will be forced to retreat and give up the entire eastern half of the island. With no fortifications prepared so far back, this would likely spell doom for the defending force.

There is still the issue of Freedom and the insurgency. Reports about the strength of Templar's primary force indicate that they could afford to push forward if they wanted to. The fact that they're staying put would indicate that Templar is playing a bigger game, as it would be strange of him not to take advantage of the difficult situation of the Altian army. Altian intelligence suspects that it may have something to do with the data Phantom was after, but as of right now there's no indication as to what they could contain.

    Tactical overview

The Russian forces are occupying Syrta and nearby Radar station. We suspect it is their intention to destroy the radar instalation, but for whatever reason they haven't accomplished that so far. The enemy force consists only of infantry, as they were unable to drop in any BMDs or Spruts. We have also confirmed that Gatekeeper troops are not present on the ground. Our intelligence revealed that the force is operating under command of renowned colonel
Vasili Petrovitch Snegiryov, known also as "Archangel". He is an expert in airborne operations, but due to the success of our spec-ops teams, the enemy lacks the assets to conduct the operation with full efficiency.
Due to destruction of enemy listening post, the operation was hampered by inaccurate intel. Furthermore, due to damage inflicted on enemy heliport and artillery, the VDV force is left with virtually no fire support, which robs Snegiryov of one of his most valued assets.
However, while the enemy artillery and rotorcraft fire support is non-existent, the enemy SEAD mission is still ongoing, which means that our long-range AA capabilities are limited. Enemy may still decide to risk unmanned assets to provide fire support, there is also a possibility that the pilots of Gatekeeper's Shikra stealth jet may try their luck, but we aren't certain if they would risk the airframe, even when our air defenses are supressed.

The insurgent and Freedom forces are present to the north and west of Syrta and we suspect they will try to assault the town. While this offers the possibility of locking the Russians between ours and Freedom forces, it also means a three-way engagement. The exact strength of insurgents is unknown. They are not part of Templar's primary force, though said force is close enough to assist if necessary. We have verified that INDIEFOR armored units are present in the area.

Due to lack of supplies our FOB construction was impededand as such you are still based in Neochori, further to the south-east. There is an outpost in Agios Dionysos, which will be avaialble to youa s a forward deployment point, but it is smaller than a full-sized FOB and lacks all the facilities. There is also the danger of Russian troops having a line-of-sight on Agios Dionysos. Equipment in the outpost is at your disposal.

In addition to other vehicles avilable to you, you will also have access to vehicles you have recovered during the mission to recover stolen supplies (1xBTR-70, 1xBRDM-2) it is up to you whether you will use these vehicles as standard assets or reserve one or both of them as possible replacements for Deimos.

The primary objective of the mission is to secure Syrta and Radar site from the Russians and prevent the town from falling into insurgent hands. As time and manpower allows, your unit will attempt to advance further west-north-west and take out possible insurgent targets. It is strongly advised that you do not attempt to advance north, as this will surely force Templar's hand and it is unlikely you would survive the assault of his force.
There may be further details revealed during pre-mission briefing, that will also be when you will receive answers to any questions you may have.

    Part 5

The operation of Altian special forces was successful, striking at several strategic targets beyond enemy lines. The loss of those installations will hamper the Russian operations quite significantly. In fact, as days pass, there is virtually no movement of the frontline, the Russian offensive halted, and Altian troops utilizing this time to the best of their ability to prepare defense in depth. However, due to recent loss of equipment after having to destroy the supplies stolen by the insurgents, the Altian army is also in a worse shape than anticipated. In an attempt to compensate for the shortages some older equipment makes its way back into active service. Additionally, some of the equipment purchased shortly before the invasion, which was yet to undergo evaluation before a full delivery contract is signed, such as armored vehicles bought from South Africa, is sent in to the frontline units for "field tests". With the destruction of Russian installations and Altian loss of equipment it seems that there is only one party in this conflict prepared to push onwards - the insurgents and their Freedom allies.
It is clear that Templar's forces are preparing to move, having received reinforcements amidst the chaos of Russian invasion. In addition to usual  guerilla operations, the insurgent are more and more often found probing Altian outposts, scouting for ample place and time to strike. There is no doubt that at least some of guerilla forces on the island are commanded by the "Phantom", an almost legendary Freedom commander and unprecedented master of infiltration. Through diligence of Altian intelligence operatives an interesting piece of information is revealed. Altian special forces attacked five out of six targets assigned to them. However, Russian radio chatter mentioned and attack on another target, one that wasn't even designated for the operation. A Gatekeeper HQ and - more importantly - its server uplink was attacked. As revealed by our operatives, some of the sensitive data was downloaded by the attackers before the server connection was severed.
With pieces of the puzzle falling into place several things are becoming clear: Phantom and his forces were operating on Russian territory at the same time as Altian special forces and they attempted to download classified data from Gatekeeper's network. It is unknown what they were after or whether they got it, but the situation itself is worrying. Additionally it presents a question of whether Phantom knew about Altian operation to use it as diversion, or whether it was pure coincidence. This could mean that there is a Freedom spy in Altian high command.

    The mission
It seems the Russians were so impressed with our spec-ops that they decided to try a similar thing. Under cover of the night and SEAD mission an airborne detachment infiltrated our territory. However, their intel wasn't entirely accurate and they didn't manage to hit their intended targets. Now the sun is rising and they're still in Syrta, as well as occupying a nearby radar installation, which they will presumably attempt to destroy. Insurgent forces are also present in the area. We have an opportunity to destroy the enemy airborne force before they can evacuate, but be wary of insurgents and Freedom. This will most likely be a three-way engagement. More information will be provided soon.

Act 2 - Might of the Bear

    Tactical overview

Intelligence identified six potential targets - 3 in eastern section and 3 in western. All of these targets were deemed vulnerable, but they do have varying degrees of security. The lowest security target is the listening post in the western area. Heliport was decribed as low-to-medium security. Radar site and field HQ are medium security, while artillery battery and SAM site are the most guarded.
It is up to you to choose which targets you aim to hit. The high command decided they are all of compartable priority, though you may choose to consider the possible future implications of your choices, as well as your capabilities. Due to limited time and manpower hitting all targets is impossible.

You start at the FOB in Neochori. As passing the frontline on foot or via ground vehicle is almost impossible, you will need to inflitrate along the coast. For those purposes you have access to boats and helicopters. Our operatives managed to make certain unwanted "adjustments" to enemy air radar, which means that low altitude helicopter flight should be safe, though nap-of-the-earth flight is a necessity. The boats can also be slingloaded to facilitate a faster execution of boat insertion. Should you choose to bring a ground vehicle, that wil also need to be slingloaded in. Bear in mind that due to the nature of operations behind enemy lines resupply can be a difficulty. You may also find yourself with limited medical equipment and lack of medical space to provide treatment to wounded. You might come across a safehouse set up by our intelligence operatives for their purposes, but that isn't a certainty.
Any routes of insertion you choose should be run through Overlord in order to compare them with intelligence report - you don't want to attempt landing in area we know to be populated by enemy forces.

You are recommended to maintain stealth for as long as possible. We have a radio interception team in place and should be able to lsiten in to most enemy communications. Relevant info will be relayed by Overlord or Crossroads. In case of detection, there's a high chance enemy will intially take you for a rebel cell and underestimate the threat. The primary threat to you, and the final clue that you should be leaving, would be mobilisation of QRF force. As far as we can tell there are separate east and west QRF forces,s o triggering alarm in the western section won't necessarily mean the end of operation in the eastern (and vice versa), though enemy will be more cautious.

In terms of fire support, the AH-6 helicopoters are equipped for long-range support, you will also have artillery on call. Bear in mind however, that artillery fire on position in the back lines will most likely prompt the enemy to search for whoever was able to call it in.

This is of course a night operation, so use the darkness to your advantage. You should ask any questions you have and plan well. This won't be a trip in the park.

For a moment it seemed that the Russian push is slowly grinding to a halt. After several hours of constant fighting troops on both sides are tired, and Russians are seemingly satisfied with results of their initial assault, their momentum almost spent. Fighting on the south-eastern front slowly dies down and fight for Kavala draws to an end with Altian troops converging on the castle. However, US recon operatives conducting reconnaissance beyond enemy lines discover that Russians are preparing for another attack. They have brought up fresh troops and heavy equipment from third landing wave and aim to assault the town of Dorida. Altian command suspects their intention is to break the frontline while it is still lightly fortified and encircle Pyrgos.

Warned by the recon element, Altian soldiers mobilize to prepare the defense of Dorida and repel the Russians. With elements of 107th Tank Brigade supporting the enemy push, holding the town will require more than just bullets.

Act 2 - Might of the Bear
    Part 1

As the sun rises on the first day of war, the fighting that started in the night continues, maybe even gets fiercer. The Russian invasion was well prepared, well coordinated and well executed, but it is clear they counted on the Altian communications and radars being disabled for longer than they were. Regardless, while NATO-Altian forces managed to restore communications and organize themselves in record speed, the Russians had no intention of stopping the offensive. They gained a foothold on the island and they decided to use the momentum they have gained to its maximum potential. While not all Russian landings succeeded, the forces that landed in the south of the island made terrifying progress in just 3 hours. The frontline is still not stable and situation changes by the minute. With several reports of insurgent and Freedom forces engaging the Russians and the northern invasion being repelled by Templar's forces, it seems that this is going to be a three-way war for the island.
One of the less successful landings happened in Kavala. A Russian airborne force landed in the city and secured a foothold on the island. It was their intention to extend south and push towards the south-western invasion force, but they failed to break through. Now they are contained to the urban area, but as long as they hold this area they remain a threat. They are encircled and - hopefully - tired, having fought through the night. They have received air-dropped supplies under cover of the night and the Altian command suspects they intend to hold the foothold until they receive more reinforcements through air or sea. It is imperative that the city is retaken before the enemy has a chance to dig in and before the imminent arrival of their reinforcements.

It is now clear that the signal we have uncovered was a ploy by The Templar, who wished to test the skill and determination of his enemy. While the original objectives of the mission couldn't be completed, Altian armed forces managed to rescue several officers captured by Freedom or insurgents during last weeks. The engagement has proven that The Templar and his forces will not be an easy enemy to beat. Regardless, while their threat remains serious, there is an even greater danger looming over the islands now.

With the Russian ultimatum and absolute refusal of US forces to comply with it, war is now almost certain. NATO forces cooperate with Altian government and high command in an effort to put together a plan of defense for the archipelago, but time is short and resources are scarce. The presence of insurgents on the island is not making things easier either. As days pass and Russian and Gatekeeper forces circle the archipelago in a standoff with American task force, diplomats on both sides still attempt to avoid the escalation of the crisis. Their efforts bring no fruit however. Diplomacy failed, and so it seems war is inevitable. As the time set by Russian ultimatum draws ever closer, fear can be felt across the archipelago. Fear amongst the populace, and amongst the soldiers who will soon stand against the might of the bear.

As sun sets on the final day of peace, a sudden large scale cyber-attack cripples the Altian defense net. Radars, communications and CICs across the archipelago are affected. While it is originally suspected that Freedom and insurgent forces are involved, it quickly became apparent they would be unable to conduct an electronic warfare operation of this magnitude. It appears that Gatekeeper's shiny tech is involved, which can only mean one thing: Altis was infiltrated by enemy forces and the cyber-attack is a preparation for imminent invasion when the ultimatum ends. With merely an hour left before the time set by the Russians, a group of Altian soldiers ventures out in a desperate attempt to restore communications before it is too late. The prelude has ended - nightmare is now upon us.

The Altian doomsday clock is showing midnight...
