It's only a thousand Canadian dollars for me to fly to Amsterdam. About €6.50, right?

Not sure if I ever indicated my preferences.  So here goes!

    - 1st / 3rd person: for PvE, I see no reason to restrict it to 1st person; for PvP, it should definitely be 1st person only.
    - Arsenal: for regular Gauntlet, I would allow unrestricted arsenal: for game nights, I would restrict it to a limited VA, if not just ammo boxes and vanilla kits.
    - Lock the server: if there is respawning, I would not lock the server.

We've all been saying how neat it would be if there was a winter map: well, as of the end of October, apparently there is.

A listed requirement is the All in Arma Terrain Pack (AiA TP) - but that's a requirement for FSF Al Rayak, and we play that - so we should be good to go, right?

Ryko got a reaction from Pvt. Zwerger in Random IED script for EU3
I've been working on a few missions, and have looked at systems like COS (Civilian Occupation System) and DAC (Dynamic AI Creator).  They all work with triggers, and when triggers run a script, that's what affects performance. In the case of COS and DAC (yes, I'm getting to the point re the IEDs) they continuously re-spawn new units when players walk into new zones, which is what creates stutters and lags.  In this IED script, all the IEDs are created at the beginning of the mission, so there shouldn't be any effect on performance after the IEDs are spawned.

As for whether it's an old script or not, DAC has been working off the same code base since 2010, while this IED script is from 2014.  I don't think ARMA code changes very much, so if it worked then, it should work now.

I'd vote to use it, but I have this feeling that work on Gauntlet has come to a standstill now that Kenny is on to Valiant.

I dont know if this Topic has been already been discussed on the Forums if so i couldn't find it in the Forums.

I was just strolling through armaholic and i found this Script for random IEDs. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=23995 I don't know if it would be easy or hard or even possible to implement this script, but if it would be possible i Personally would love to see it on the EU3 server.   Why?   Because it would make Convoy missions more interesting. Because you would have to bee way more alert when moving around the map.   What are your opinions?

I'll echo Amentes and Norman Shaw - er, Minipily.

My question would be, is this a game night if it's essentially just a structured Gauntlet mission?

I have no problem with calling it a game night, but I think perhaps one of the reasons there was a dropout rate (a part from Fallout 4 syndrome) is that because it wasn't a "new" mission, or a new situation, many people see it as Gauntlet and were more easily able to drop out.

I'm no expert, but I'd be happy to help you create a custom mission if you're interested.

Ryko got a reaction from TheToxicPixels in Corazol (TvT map)
    Hi folks!

Thanks to a bunch of people who helped me test a map I'm working on - Corazol.  Here's footage I shot from Zeus perspective today:

The premise is that a border town in Sahrani needs to be occupied: Russian and US tank platoons move in to capture it.  It's a Sector Control map, with three sectors in the town to occupy.  The US have four M1A1 tanks, two M2A3 TUSK, and a command M1025; the Russians have four T90 tanks, two BMP-3, and a command GAZ.  Both teams have two minutes to set up, and then there's a twenty minute time limit.

I'll be working on this a bit more this week, with the hope that perhaps one night we could run it as a game night: I think it would be awesome to run this with as many folks as possible!

Ryko reacted to Minipily in Arma 3 Modded PVP Campaign
    Hello there,

So me and Johnson were thinking how cool it would be for a collection of PVP gamenights, would be both fun and easy to set up as I have already thought about these ideas for months but never been able to show them.

Basically, I'm hoping to host gamenights where they would be PVP campaigns or sometimes just scenarios.

So the PVP gamenights would act like campaigns, basically having a back story and each battle having a motive which will add to the fun and diversity of the missions. It can start off in any way, whether it be: Invasion, ambush or half way in a war. The possibilities are endless!

Here's a quick campaign idea I thought about a while back. Here's the idea:

After the Russian Federation attacked American Forces stationed in Brandenburg, the Americans have retaliated and pushed the Russian forces deep into the Czech Republic. Russian forces have multiplied there forces and the fight is now at a stand still in Chernarus. Fighting at the front line is fierce and Americans are now suffering staggering losses at the might of the strengthened Russian front. The American forces must think of a plan fast before they lose the Czech Republic, get pushed back into Germany and risk a full on Russian invasion.

Here's the situation according to the map:

I will explain how the mission works and what exactly is going on in this campaign so long as the idea is allowed. I will also figure out times to when these gamenights happen.

Here's some artwork I quickly made:

May not sound as good as I hoped but it will be serious fun if put into play, I guess what I really need is some Michael Bay base drops.

If you like the idea, drop me a ahoy coin or leave a comment, also feel free to post any suggestions!

Quick note to clear some things up: No, this will not involve like 60 vs 60, we simply do not have the players so we wont be fighting everywhere on the map, it will be scaled down to a small region to fit what I expect will be 15/20 vs 15/20.

Funnily enough, I haven't had that many people disagree with my commands... in fact the last video I posted in the Arma screenies & videos thread, @15:10, Chongo_10 suggested a different approach and I took it because it was a better idea than mine.  If your commands make sense, people generally follow them.

My issue has been mostly people playing in their own private groups or in different languages, which makes it difficult to assess whether they are following commands or not.

Has to be said in the situation fireteam one hits contact. Fireteam lead then has to relay it to Squad lead/Other fireteam lead, then the other fireteam lead has to let his fireteam know. In an idle world that happens. In most cases it doesn't.

    BUT....

It is entirely upto the SQUAD LEADER on how his squad radio works. There is no rule saying what he can or can't do with the radios.

We recommend you use either method to your squad leading comfort.

I believe neither should be forced upon you and a commander/another squad lead shouldn't choose for you.

So it comes down to this - should people change the radio channel structure or not?

Option A: "Just put everyone in the squad on the same channel"

This works great when two conditions are present:

    1) There is a strong command structure in place (ie., Platoon Command and Squad Lead(s))
    2) The squad moves as a singular unit, ie., within shouting range.

Guess how often those two conditions occur?

    Option B: "GEN:100, A1: 110, A2: 120" (or whatever)

The more prevalent condition is that NO ONE WANTS TO TAKE COMMAND and it's left up to a single person to run as ASL (or sometimes even just a fire team leader) to organize the plan and the various squads.

In this case all you Option A people are asking the ASL to manage his squad, as well as Vortex/MAT/MMG on Long Range.  The whole reason I came up with 100/110/120 was so I could delegate squad movement and action to the fire team leads (or people I designate as FTL because no one seems to want to take that slot).  Enforcing radio discipline is fine and dandy.  But when Vortex/MAT/MMG all want a piece of your attention, there's little left for the squad.

Advantages here are that it encourages people to run as FTL (or something akin to that) which I would hope grooms them for command positions.  As well it allows for more finessed movement: if I have to keep everyone in shouting distance, then there's no way the two fire teams will be able to flank from different directions on a target.

    Discuss.
