No they haven't, it's always been the same. We aren't milsim, we just don't want people taking the piss in what they do because that ruins the experience of others.

    Hello everyone,

This time I'll try to explain and cover every subject I intended until last status while retaining briefly explanations. Let's start.

    1. General update

1.1 I salute new map Gauntlet Zagrabad. It is really a nice map, and what distinguishes it from Fallujah is that all streets and corners of the towns and villages are unique. Even buildings have their particular function like mosque, different towers, squares that are converted into marketplace, workshops and others. You can see that the map is created by someone who understands how city is developed. Just today we were at a remote village and were engaged in fight at a marketplace. Truly something new. There were no ordinary fights; you need to move constantly because the angles of the streets are not commonly shaped and you always need to check your surroundings. Also on a plus side is that every building that you can climb on has a disadvantage of covering all the angles. Trees are placed thoughtfully around the buildings and you can also see that the creator has payed attention on open fields which have been separated by “green fence”. This gives European type of arranging fields.
Very big PLUS is going to creator who integrated Logistics squad. We need to understand how to use it and how to deploy it on the field. Imagine admins integrate fatigue which has drastic impact. You won't place then two Javelins or carrying twenty mags (I've typed in letters to keep it low profile).
One thing that really needs fixing is that strange helicopter echo when you first spawn on the map.
BLUFOR base where we spawn is something special. It is created by @MessedUpSmiley and @alganthe. These guys know how to make the base in a hurry. It is like there was a mission in planning and the remote FOB needed to be set with utmost priority. Base is uncommon like the map; unique, detailed and well organized. It has mission planning site, small barracks, salvaged metal, guarding points. There are a lot of helipads which gives it a look of fast response FOB, and a feel that all the equipment was brought by air and established on sight. Positioning of helipads is a little bit off. While this is okay I'd like to see more scrap metal around repair area like barrels and crates around helipads for fuel and rearm. This is our little gem which we call re-spawn; well, that in most cases.

1.2. I have never seen so much team killing on EU#3 server. Just WOW how we can even manage to step on foreign soil and engage the op forces. The team killings were not preformed by usual grenades inside the FOB and our beloved Arsenal box (yes I gave it personality). No these killings were preformed inside AO, on the battlefield. It mainly because of lack of coordination, not identifying targets, untrained use of AT equipment, or CAS preforming gun runs without permission.
Regarding AT equipment, there are plenty of videos around the web how to use one and remember, this is not a Single Player game. You are not Master Chief or Dr. Gordon Freeman. You are individual surrounded by friendly individuals and only teamwork will bring you back to base so you can see your beloved Arsenal again. When you hear play your roles it doesn't mean only which gun you can take. Just yesterday guy discharged AT equipment not securing his back blast. One guy was incapacitated and the other guy was given CPR for five minutes. It wasn't even American AT.
Moving to CAS. If the commander on field gave you a permission to preform gun run, IT ALWAYS tells you where and how, with what approach in mind not to endanger assets on the field. You were not supposed to engage every other target you see in the AO. If you are inpatient, just don't be a pilot. Keeping this in mind I'd suggest integrating white list for pilots who can CAS or which ones can actually use helicopter in transport purposes. Today everybody wants to be an air ACE.

“Whacha wearing, Barbie? I think I'll go with olive one.” giggles.

1.3. For the last week I'm hearing here and there about chick-chat on the radio communications. When we are at Ops, let's keep the chat on the minimum. When we are near Arsenal, form a group therapies, social interactions and what not. Just not at the AO. This causes assets to team kill. One asset is starting setting channels for general squad, and fire team like 100,110,120. This is a good division. Keep fire team chat between fire teams because nobody says whole squad will clean same side of the town. Keep your squad general channel as additional channel. But if you are not TL or SL report only to your specific channel. Make sure always to mark your channel on the map. If you get team killed in hijacked enemy vehicle, your own fault. First, we don't drive enemy vehicles, If we are driving we make sure to report to our TL and advise him to report to SL. That is the main role of the Chain of Command Communications. If you are still uncertain how to use radio communications, visit your Ahoy Bible Forum.

    2. Suggestions:

2.1. One thing to consider is re-enabling side chat or global. I know that new players aren't actually reading any of the rules like we saw in earlier iterations filling side chat and asking questions: “Where are the tanks?” Heh that is probably my favourite one when guy asked exact that question on Chernarus. Immediately after that always someone writes in capitals RULE4. I admit, when I've joined EU#3 for the first time I also greeted everyone with Hello on side chat. Everybody was furious and after that when I thought what I am doing I questioned myself. Problem for me not having a side chat is that I can't stand while marking targets or way points on map to change every marker to side so everybody can see. I was really fast at this and now this gives me a hard time. If we really have problems reading general rules, Then I don't know how people install the game in the first place. Hell, how do we even use this thing we call PC.

2.2. Yes we need training, not just air but also how to preform house cleanings, using equipment and communications. But be sure, if you ask anyone who is in the game or setup room politely and in good timing (that means not in the AO, keep your question in mind, if you can't remember write it down) you will get an answer. If nobody knows, join us on forums and we'll have discussion. Keep the game play flowing, question decisions later. Let's make the most enjoyable experience. If you are new pilot or just insecure, we have good pilots and if you ask them politely they will gladly give you co-pilot seat. They will maybe even give you that joystick so you can preform that hard maneuver which was bugging you for a while. Give interest and attention in the role you want to play, the others will follow and help you out. New players keep coming. While we all know each other, experienced players should help new ones. Not leave them behind on AO alone like lost sheep. I was CMD Engineer and I took a role of leading four new players through streets of Fallujah. First they shouldn't be there in the first place, the team leader was also a new guy. ASL was just coordinating with one fire team and left other team to wonder around the streets of Fallujah. I can see lone wolf-ers and how they actually become one. Thankfully CMD Medic called for immediate EVAC and guys went home – all with injuries.

2.3 On a suggestion thing just for discussion, integrating two types of team, infiltration and breaching. Breaching vehicles or helicopter, Infiltration H.A.L.O jumps on point. I saw a glare in all those eyes when you've jumped from that Huron on Fallujah during sandy sunset. This would only be viable by night. For the Infiltration team to be enabled and deployed all slots from that team have to be filled.

    3. Other:

3.1. If SL or TL asks to use laser, it doesn't mean we are having laser party.
3.2. Ambient AI is your ticket to have fun.
3.3. LEARN TO USE PUSH TO TALK.
3.4. I will repeat this one. ARSENAL IS NOT WHY PEOPLE ARE TAKING A LONG TIME IN BASE. If you wonder why you will ask yourself which will lead you to conclusion. If not, leave it and be that guy which you already are. If you are not liking people talking and playing around Arsenal, take initiative.

3.5. I think that Ambient AI is misunderstood how it is supposed to be working. We are all rushing to complete that one mission which is always repeating. But why? I had better fights and experience fighting ambient AI while they ambush than actual AO. Why are we all rushing at it and avoiding ambient AI? Do we get points or something for completing missions fast. Are we keeping track of some hidden score? Just today I've had the best experience in a while fighting my way through Ambient AO to actually going to the best AO of clearing city from enemies.

3.6. Players keep asking SL/TL what should they do, should they do it and such. Don't be lost sheep, Keep your buddy (TIP: you should always have a buddy at your side) close and take initiative, but not initiative Jack Churchill – like. How I know when I play with players who play their roles and actually are doing team play? Simple, they are constantly looking at the map. Today SL ordered specifically my team to check particular side of AO. Why my team? Because SL saw who is on that particular far side of AO on the map so he knew how to shape his order. Check your map constantly, shape your thought with intel you have been provided from the comms.

Well, I was thinking to write briefly… I'm obviously unable to do that. I want to be precise. Well at least the ending is short.

    Good plays,

I´ll try this, not much thought needed.
However, after looking at this video, I must say that the Nordschleife in PCars looks VERY VERY different from what I know from AssettoCorsa .

With this out of the way I can only say :
May the man with the lowest downforce and the best suspension setup win !

    Game: Project Cars

    Location: Nordschleife (track guide here)

    Date: October 18th 2015

    Time: 1700UTC

    Qualifying time: 30 minutes

    Race Length: 21 laps (that's 271 miles)

    Car Class: GT3

Aston Martin V12 Vantage Audi R8 LMS Ultra BMW M3 GT BMW Z4 Ginetta G55 (lol) McLaren 12C Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Ruf RGT 8
Here are the settings for the race, as you can see all 4 weather slots are randomised and synced to the race, that means it could start in heavy fog, turn to clear weather, go to heavy rain and then back to clear again in the 2.4 hours we'll be on track meaning each slot will be about 36 minutes. I may reduce it to 3 weather slots meaning each slot is about 48 minutes. Time progression is on 10x so 24 hours will pass in 2.4 hours, perfect for this race. Starting time will be between 10 and 12 and the time of year will be current, the later the race is held the worse the shadows will be and the longer the night will be. Damage will also be on either "Performance impacting" or "Full Damage", I'd like damage to be possible but not possible to put you out the race in 1 crash. I'm going to play about with them to see what they're like.

This race is tailored to the hardcore sim racers however anyone is welcome to race as it's a real achievement to complete an event like this.

    4.      Arma Rules

Note: As EU3 is a special case there has been some repetition of rules this is to ensure that play on EU3 is maintained at a more stringent level.

    4.1.   All Servers

    4.1.1.       No Teamkilling (TKing)
4.1.1.1.            This includes harming friendly vehicles in any form.
4.1.1.2.            Persistent teamkilling could result in a kick or a ban
4.1.1.3.            Do not combat teamkilling by teamkilling offenders
4.1.1.4.            Teamkilling as a result of using thermal optics or lack of a tag is not an excuse.
4.1.2.       Play the mission as intended
4.1.2.1.            Do not crash assets such as helicopters or vehicles into other things with intent.
4.1.2.2.            Do not exploit bugs for personal gain, if a bug/loophole/exploit is found, report to an administrator as soon as possible.
4.1.2.3.            Use your role to the best of your ability, if you’re a medic heal people, if you’re a repair specialist, keep your repair kit. Intentionally ignoring duties is frowned upon and may lead to your being moved to another role or being kicked.
    4.1.3.       Respect game immersion
4.1.3.1.            Refrain from overuse or inappropriate use of Global or Side Chat especially in voice.
4.1.3.2.            Do not hinder, pester or “troll” other players during their gameplay. This includes blocking doors, following other players around excessively.
4.1.3.3.            Don’t steal vehicles, weapons or other equipment from other players or squads and return them undamaged when asked to do so.
4.1.3.4.            Do not waste resources such as limited vehicle ammo or side mission rewards on purpose.
    4.1.4.       Pilots:
4.1.4.1.            Pilots are a vital element in flow of missions and so are most closely scrutinised for poor behaviour or poor ability.
4.1.4.2.            Are advised and encourage to join teamspeak.
4.1.4.3.            At the start of missions the pecking order for a pilot slot will be: Paying Subscribers, Teamspeak users, known pilots, anybody else. In the event of a tie, it’s first come first served.
4.1.4.4.            If you are very bad we suggest practicing offline first and in extreme cases may ask you to surrender your slot to a known good pilot. If you refuse we may be forced to kick you.
4.1.4.5.            Are in command of their aircraft, not the passenger or co-pilot. Don’t confuse this to mean that co-pilots cannot take control.
4.1.4.6.            Pilots are required to engage with admins when requested. If an admin asks who the pilots are please respond.
4.1.4.7.            AFK pilots will be kicked.
4.1.4.8.            Pilots are required to land in designated areas! Landing in non-designated landing zones around spawn will most likely result in a kick.
4.1.4.9.            Repeated crashing or abandoning choppers is not permitted.
4.1.4.10.        Keep an eye on your gunners and respond immediately when asked by admins as to who your gunners are.
4.1.5.       Report suspicious activity to an admin
    4.1.5.1.            Hacking
    4.1.5.2.            Offensive behaviour
    4.1.5.3.            Rule breakers
4.1.6.       Have fun and enjoy, for you and anyone around you!

    4.2.   I&A Rules

4.2.1.       Upon entering the server you agree to abide by the rules set out any breaking of the rules can result in a kick or a ban.
4.2.2.       Excessive lobby idling is not permitted if you are caught lobby idling excessively a temporary ban will be applied. Repetition of such can result in perma ban.
4.2.3.       Please refrain from using side or global radio channels they do not work and are not required.
4.2.4.       Use chat effectively remember that there are many other players on the server ask yourself do they need to know what you want to communicate? Group or direct may be a better method to tell the people who need to know.
4.2.5.       While we encourage people to play their roles apart from pilots we do not police this strictly. Please play your role but if someone is not doing the same just leave them at it.
4.2.6.      The role of the admin is not to help make the mission easier we will not: teleport you, repair or replace vehicles.
4.2.7.      Please don’t play music through direct.
4.2.8.      If you accidently teamkill you need to apologise and explain yourself by typing in side channel immediately failure to do so may result in punishment. Do this before anything else.

    4.3.   EU3 Rules

Again as EU3 is a special case there now follows the rules for that server:
4.3.1.       Do not teamkill. This one shouldn’t even be here… ANY type of on purpose teamkilling will not be accepted. IE: Revenge killing, executions, dicking around.
4.3.1.1.            Wrongfully using medical supplies IE. Injecting someone with any sort of drug without a medical need is not permitted.
4.3.2.       Do not dare/antagonize someone to teamkill, and/or create a situation where teamkilling is very likely to happen. (capturing an enemy vehicle and failing to properly notifying your team)
4.3.3.       Listen to the Chain of Command
4.3.4.       Do not type over side chat, global or command.(Unless in an emergency *This does not include questions*). On game nights, if you do this too often, this may result in a kick. X User on side: “Sorry for breaking rule 4. But where is the arsenal box” Is not an emergency. Please use group chat.
4.3.5.       Do not discharge any of your weapons in base on purpose! This includes launchers with their back blast.
4.3.6.       Pilots should not get into jets/helicopters unless told to by Command elements. With the priority being set to transport. This also includes Angel (Which is not a transport helicopter). With no more than 1 pilot for every 8 ground troops.
4.3.7.       Do not use 2 seater aircraft when alone. This means no flying CAS Helicopters solo.
4.3.8.       CAS pilots (Helicopter/Jet) and Tank Crews should be on standby in a safe orbit over/around the AO unless instructed otherwise by command element(Not Squad Leaders). CAS standby and not fire unless told to by command.
4.3.8.1.            Tank crews and Air crews are not permitted to go free for all on AOs.
4.3.9.       Firing 20mm or 30mm cannon can cause server lag issues, so please use them with discretion.
4.3.10.  If you select a role, please play that role. *Please check the useful links section at the bottom for a list of what each role should be using.* By this we mean:
4.3.10.1.        We do not want to see a medic with a DMR and/or AT Launcher.
4.3.10.2.        We also expect you to play as the faction you are. BLUFOR faction gear with BLUFOR and OPFOR with OPFOR. OPFOR does not use AR type weaponry (m4 based weapons) and they do not use MTP/Multicam, DPM or any other NATO used camouflaged clothing.
4.3.10.3.        This rule also covers the amount of gear you carry. Any more than 20 mags is NOT acceptable as you will run out of stamina fairly quickly and endanger the team when you are stationary in an open field.
4.3.11.  The first medic on a scene decides how to treat a patient. Do not run up to a patient and start doing medical stuff without asking the on scene medic first or your squad medic for help first.
4.3.12.  Radios are not for chit-chat. Please keep radio chatter to a minimum. If you have to talk do it LOCALLY.
4.3.13.  The motor pool and spawn area is not for helicopters or jets. Do not land them there. Use the helicopter staging areas. When no helipad is available, land outside base in a safe area. On Fallujah and Panthera please use the taxi-ways and power down once landed to cause as little noise disruption as possible. Landing next to the arsenal box is not acceptable in any circumstance.
4.3.14.  It is not acceptable to arrest (handcuff) anyone for any reason. If you wish to AFK disconnect or return to base. Respawn if you have to. Cuffs will not be used to drag you around.
4.3.15.  Please do not nag moderators/admins or command if you can use CAS. This will only annoy them. Ask once and only once. This also includes the spawning of vehicles. We will not spawn vehicles on demand.
4.3.16.  English only over Radio Comms please. We are an European based community however we ask that users speak English when around others. You’re more than welcome to talk your own language in a private channel or direct chat when not around others.
4.3.17.  Please enter the server from the setup room and not from the lobby of our teamspeak.

    5.      Other Games
5.1.    Please follow the respective rule set of every game you play.

    6.      Admins

6.1.   Admins, moderators and core staff strive to ensure that as many people as possible have a pleasant experience while at AW. Please heed their advice.
6.2.   The structure of AW is set up roughly as
    6.2.1.       Core Staff
    6.2.2.       Admins
    6.2.3.       Moderators (EU3)
    6.2.4.       Spartans
    6.2.5.       Field Ambassadors
6.3.   Admins are not here to micro manage you will still need to play the game

    7.      Bans

7.1.   If you have been banned and feel that the ban was unjust or unfair or simply disagree with the ban then you have the right to appeal on our forums.
7.2.   Ban appeals must be posted in the appropriate section in the correct format before they will be considered.
7.3.   Once banned you cannot be unbanned until a ban appeal has been posted.
7.4.   Bans will not be discussed with non-relevant parties.
7.5.   You must be truthful in your ban appeal if we feel that you are being untruthful or dishonest we will most likely not entertain your appeal or in the case of temporary bans may increase the time that you remain banned.

Any chance we could get a MAT team added to Gauntlet for US forces?

I'm in love with the M3 MAAWs on EU#3 so I would love to legally be allowed to use it in an AT team like MAT if its possible.

+ when it comes down to AT on EU#3 (which is all I live for) I can kick so much more ass with a dummy fire M3 than lock on Javelin.

I cry every second I'm away from that beautiful M3 beast.

Radfahrer reacted to Cain in 70 Years - Hiroshima & Nagasaki
Disclaimer - I will not be including any graphic images of the injuries caused by the bomb dropped on Hiroshima, nor any close-ups of the large amounts of dead that were photographed in the city immediately after the bombing. However, I urge you to look at some of these yourselves along with my descriptions, in order to fully understand the level of horror, pain and suffering which the inhabitants of both Hiroshima and Nagasaki suffered.

Note - I will mostly be talking about Hiroshima in this post, as it is the anniversary of that bombing today, and also because if I were to include the same amount of information about Nagasaki, this post would be much longer than it is now. However, understand that I am not belittling the Nagasaki bombings, they deserve as much attention as the Hiroshima bombings, as these are the only two cities in the world to have nuclear weapons dropped on them.

    The Bombing

On this day, 70 years ago, at 8.15 in the morning, the first atomic weapon dropped in anger detonated 600 meters above the city of Hiroshima, a large military and industrial hub with a population of 350,000, located on the coast of the Seto Inland Sea, in southern Japan.

The weapon, nicknamed 'Little Boy', exploded with a force roughly equal to 15 kilotons of TNT, missed its intended target, the Aioi Bridge, by 250m and detonated directly overhead the Shima Surgical Clinic.

Immediately, a massive blast-wave completely destroyed everything within a 1.6 kilometer radius of the hypocenter, barring heavily-reinforced and earthquake-resistant concrete buildings, of which only their shells remained standing, such as the famous 'A-Bomb Dome', what was previously the Prefectural Industry Promotion Building, which has been conserved and remains standing today in the Peace Park.

Severe blast damage radiated from the hypocenter, ranging from very serious damage and collapses of almost all buildings within a 2-3 kilometer radius, to light damage as far as 5 kilometers away.

A massive, blinding fireball 370 meters in diameter, reaching temperatures in excess of 6000 degrees celcius, caused fires to break out everywhere, resulting in a massive firestorm twenty minutes after the initial blast. Roughly 3 kilometers in diameter, it was fueled by the damaged and collapsed buildings due to the blast, completely razing them to the ground. People became trapped in their predominantly wooden houses, screaming for help to no avail as they burned alive. The fires only started to die down after reaching the edge of the blast-zone, where there was less fuel.

Upon detonation, a huge amount of neutron and gamma radiation was emitted, resulting in a lethal radiation dose within a 1.3 kilometer radius, roughly half of the firestorm-affected area. This radiation reached dozens of kilometers, causing many people that were relatively unharmed by the blast or fires to suffer acute radiation syndrome in the period after the bombing, some causing life-long health complications and increased chances of cancer.

Many would succumb to injuries from the blast and fires; with water being in such low supply due to mains being burst and rivers being either inaccessible or contaminated, the last word on many of the dying's lips were 'Water', their thirst arising from the heat which had enveloped the city.

In total, the blast resulted in ~80,000 direct deaths, approximately 70% of the city's buildings destroyed, with another approximate ~80,000 deaths by the end of the year due to injuries or acute radiation syndrome.

    Why the news post?

Now you may be asking yourselves, why are you telling me this Cain? I already know about Hiroshima and Nagasaki, maybe not all the details as you've laid out, but the general impression of the event.

The answer is, because it's the 70th anniversary of the bomb being dropped on Hiroshima, with Nagasaki's being on the 9th of August.
Also, because last month I visited Japan on holiday, and went to the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, visiting the memorials, museums and everything else dedicated to the bomb and the victims of it. I feel quite strongly about this, and as such I wanted to share it on this forum.

My trip to Hiroshima & Nagasaki

Personally, I had always been on the fence about the usage of the atomic bombs to 'end' the war in the Pacific. I'm an avid historian, and whilst I thought I understood that the dropping of the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a horrible act, I believed it was necessary to finally bring about the closure of the Second World War; as it was likely that many more lives of both sides would have been lost in the brutal and bloody Pacific fighting, especially if the USA were to attempt a mainland invasion of Japan to finally force a surrender.

And this was the impression and viewpoint I had when I visited Hiroshima and Nagasaki. When I left both cities, I had completely changed my view. As to why that's the case, allow me to expand a little on my trip.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki, both quite nice cities, of course have a lot dedicated to memorials and museums of the atomic bombs dropped. In fact you could say that if you are visiting either of the two cities to do some tourism, you are likely going to spend most of your time learning about the atomic bombs, and visiting memorials to the victims. All of these are very well done, in particular the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and the Peace Park in which it is situated in (which contains several dozen monuments and memorials, as well as the famous A-Bomb dome I linked a picture of earlier); and also Nagasaki's equivalent Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum and Nagasaki Peace Park.

I visited Hiroshima first, and the first order of business was the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. I was astounded by how well done the museum is. First, there were some short summaries of Hiroshima's history, and what it was like before the bomb and even before the war itself. The exhibition then moved onto the dropping of the bomb, its immediate effects, then its long-term affects, then onto how the bomb actually worked and the various forms of damage, finally ending on survivors' stories, and images/messages left by various high-level dignitaries that have visited the Museum and Park. (There is another large wing of the museum, but it was currently closed for the first stage of a two-part renovation in which they are re-doing and upgrading the entire museum and exhibits, due to be completely finished in 2018 I believe. If you are thinking of visiting, make sure you check to see if the Museum is open!)

As to the exhibits themselves, its very hard to not get emotional. The museum has dozens of items which were from the blast; pieces of clothing, personal effects, etc, all from a wide variety of people who ultimately perished either on the day or soon afterwards. Bits of twisted glasses-frames, half-charred school-uniforms, battered and broken lunch-boxes, disfigured and damaged toys, the list goes on. The items all have descriptions of who they belonged to (if identified) as well as a short description of who they were, what they did, and how they ultimately perished.

The walls are lined of images of the injuries caused by the blast; horrific burns causing skin to literally be hanging off someone's flesh; lines and patterns of clothing burnt into the bare skin of people; large keloids (large bumpy and inflamed scars), again, the list goes on.

Included in the exhibition was the chunk of stone steps (image above) from the front of the Sumitomo bank, in which an ordinary, unidentified person had been sitting on whilst waiting for the bank to open at the time of the bombing, his/her shadow burnt into the stone by the fireball when the bomb detonated, leaving nothing else behind. Even despite the low-lighting in the museum and the fact that the shadow has somewhat faded, it is still clearly visible, and staring at such a stark reminder in your face is a very hard thing to tolerate.

The last section, hearing recordings of survivors giving interviews and reading their descriptions of the minutes, hours, and days immediately after the bombing were completely gut-wrenching. They leave out no details of the level of human suffering and despair which was experienced by the people of Hiroshima; the scenes of hell-like horror of fires, rubble, screams and bodies; and the stories of human strength in which people aided others. I would highly recommend you looking into some of the stories of survivors, some of the examples of human kindness and strength are absolutely astounding, given the situation they were in.

All this, I will willingly admit, left me teary, emotional, and struggling to handle with what I was being presented with. When I walked out of the museum, I had to sit down on a bench in the 25 degree heat in the middle of the park and just comprehend everything for a while. It was strikingly similar to the feeling I had when I visited the Auschwitz camps last year.

    Remembrance

All this being said, I am not here to spark debate on whether the bombings were truly 'right' or 'justified', nor am I here to particularly attempt to educate you in what happened, however if you did learn some things and want to learn more, then I am grateful for that.

I will say that personally, my opinion of the bombings and nuclear weapons has been affirmed; I do not wish the level of human suffering in which the people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki suffered upon anyone else in this world, and as long as nuclear weapons remain stockpiled by the thousands in the hands of many, there is a chance that it could happen again. As such, and this is probably the most preachy part, I would ask that you re-think about your stance on nuclear weapons. Do some research, have a deeper look at the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings, and maybe come to the same realization that I have.

This is about what I experienced.

However, ultimately, I am asking for you to give remembrance to the victims of the bombings of both Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Remembrance for the pain, suffering, despair and everything else in which those people suffered, something that was not experienced anywhere else.
Remembrance of this act humanity committed upon itself.
Remembrance and understanding of the hope that this is something that should never be experienced by anyone in the world, and it is an utter tragedy that several hundred thousand people were killed, untold amount more injured and affected, had to go through this level of suffering.

I urge you to take part in your own little minute of silence or anything of the sort both today, and on the 9th, for the two respective bombings.

    Thank you.

P.S For those that actually got through the whole thing, I congratulate and thank you. Hope you're not too depressed.

P.P.S I would highly, highly recommend that you visit both Hiroshima and Nagasaki at some point in your lives. What I've said and described here may be depressing enough, but I honestly think it is something everyone should do. Reading this post is one thing, but standing in the middle of the Peace Park, looking at the A-Bomb dome, and being only a few hundred meters away from the hypocenter of the blast; it is definitely a worthwhile experience. Especially considering how large and nice the cities have grown to become today. It's somewhat like a phoenix rising out of its ashes. Definitely a worthwhile experience.
