We Will Not MilSim.

Recommended Posts

Hey guy,

I've been playing on EU#3 recently, and I've noticed something;

the admins and moderators seem to be intent of waving their dicks about

It seems that people believe Religiously in the rules. Now, i get that the rules are there to make sure everyone has fun, and they do that. But when they are upheld above all else, then its not fun. Having to re slot to another role that you don't like isn't fun. And if its no longer fun, allot of people will stop playing.

I know why the rules are there, but its fun to have a mess about online with the mods every once in awhile. If some people desperately want a serious server, re-purpose EU#4. its that simple.

EU#3 is big now. That can't be changed, but that can be adapted for.

When servers get big, they get more casual. Tightening the rules doesn't help that, it only makes people get a bad impression.

As a very good game once said;

Rules are rules Zak. They have been put in place for a reason. Mods and admins are giving up their time to make everyone else's time at ahoyworld alot better and sometimes by doing this, we cant make everyone happy all of the time.

This would ruin the fun for the people that are serious.

We give you the right to:

  • Use our servers and mission free of charge within our rules
  • Receive a fair warning before permanent administrative action
  • Have lots of fun and enjoyment

Yes, but the rules have been vastly Tightened recently. That can drive away players, which can lead to a community dying. i don't want that to happen.

At this point, we need a dedicate casual server.

No they haven't, it's always been the same. We aren't milsim, we just don't want people taking the piss in what they do because that ruins the experience of others.

If you want a casual server play on EU 1 and 2.

This.

The current iteration of the ruleset has been in place for at least for at least 4 months and before that there was a similar ruleset. Maybe you're new and dont know about that - but then again you should have read them to play on EU3. If you want to dick about please go else where as you will just end up spoiling play on the server for others.

Also who is this "WE" as i have not heard a complaint besides yourself.

EU3 is good because of RULES and the ENFORCING of those rules .

So no matter how "chic", "hip" or "in" or "hot" it is, or ever will be, it still is EU3 :

In short : It´s bigboy´s territory, the oldest and biggest of the bigboys set up some easily followable rules so just stick to them and have your fun with the others .

If you really want to mess about, start up your own dedicated server chockfull of mods and mess about there, but PLEASE, DO NEVER try to undermine the quite lenient ruleset given for EU3, because that is what makes EU3 SO GREAT .

You could see it from a different POV; if you would just play with common sense, we wouldn't need to enforce any rules.
The rules are only here to gain the quality of gameplay the biggest part of our playerbase desires, if you can't cope with that; feel free to hop on EU#1 or EU#2.
They have even got sniper teams!

Agreed, especially certain staff members.

Is this you and Zak vs everyone else? Cause all I feel as that you're just stiring a pot and after Zaks amazingly childish behaviour today I really can't be bothered with it. As david said if you have an issue with staff contact him.

P.s I'm not trying to start anything with anyone however todays behaviour was just terrible. It was unreal.

Quite honestly, to me, the reason why the rules appear to be getting enforced more, is because there are a lot of new players around. The problem with that, is that there are more people not following the rules, intentionally or otherwise. That means that some people - myself included - have gotten pretty tired of the amount of pissing around. Its stupid the amount of messing around that goes on sometimes. So that's meant that mods are having to enforce them more.

As Josh said Now it is time to clean up and make sure that certain people do.

EU3 has been around for ages, and it still will be around for ages. The majority of people, as you can see from above posts, are happy with the rules, and the way they are enforced. It says it when you join the server, EU3 is your place for serious game play. EU1 is always busy so I'd recommend 2 to enjoy some casual arma.

If you think this is milsimming, go join a unit, then you might have a clue what that's like.

Well that's not exactly true, is it?

I'm not naming names because I'm not a snitch, and I'm not going to whine about specific people. I'm saying this to raise the point that there is an issue within the staff team that needs to be looked at and resolved. I won't post specifics in a public area.

Yeah time warps and friendly's in Russian jets flying overhead ruin the immersion.

Yeah the time warp stuff was annoying as fuck tbh but i think it was a mistake. Russian jets = Cherno Defence Force Jets which are a BLUEFOR team from Arma2.

But yes probably should be more NATO jets not Russia-esk.

Well that wont fix anything will it? That's totally the wrong mentality "Im not a snitch".

Didn't most people realise that this only really makes sense until you hit 14?

It still makes sense now. I'm specifically not going to name names because I believe the majority of the current staff teams needs a review. I'm not saying you're all bad, I'm not saying I dislike you all; I respect and like each and every member of the staff team, in fact. I just think a review of procedures with regards to what can and cannot be done and how punishments are handled is needed; if anything, it'd tie in with the supposed tightening of rule enforcement. As has been said, we've had a fair few new players recently, and with them will inevitably come more punishments needing to be dealt out; My experience so far as unfortunately been a bad one in this respect, and not in the sense of being only on the receiving end. My initial 24 hour ban was supposed to be reviewed; as I've stated previously this never happened, and I'm still waiting to talk it over with core staff/a member's rep. My week's ban appeal has just been sat in limbo for days, and I'd really appreciate more of an update than 'it's being reviewed'; for a regular player such as myself a week without gameplay with people I'd consider friends is a disappointment that can be easily avoided. Half of the ban time has already passed, and if, for example, it was found that I was in fact innocent, that'd mean I'd served half of a ban that was undeserved.

To clarify: I'm not taking sides with Zak. I don't know what occurred today. I'm simply weighing in on the discussion in what I feel is the best way I can. I want the best for AW, and I'll aspire to achieve that whatever way I can. I've been a member of a good number of online communities, and I'd like to draw on that experience to help improve our community if possible.
