Out of all the vanilla weapons allowed, I typically go for some sort of MX as they just work, ammo is plentiful and they hit hard enough.
 
Marksman I usually go SPAR 17
 
AT I'm going to be using a Titan and hopefully taking a vehicle for rearming.
 
L/MMG i tend to go MXSW or SPMG.
 
Always carry a few smokes, a few grenades and about 10+ mags.
 
I never carry a pistol as the weight of a pistol and some mags is way heavier than a several extra mags for my main, and that holds more ammo.

As you will be aware from the last community update, Mark has now stepped down from Core Staff, and the role as Site Owner. We want to personally thank Mark for his service, and what he has contributed to the community during his time as Core Staff and Site Owner.
 
In terms of an overall hierarchy change, we have scrapped the role of Site Owner, giving all members of Core Staff the responsibilities that the Site Owner had. Realistically, this will not affect any members of the community, and we want to place emphasis that it will be business as usual at AhoyWorld, and we look forward the opportunities that the next year will bring.
 
We want to thank the members of the community for supporting us, whether this is through donations or simply being here, as it's the members that truly keep this community afloat. 
 
If anyone has any questions for the Corestaff team we will be happy to answer them in the comments of this post.

In I&A you would have been dead on approach, you would have lost your main rotor at least twice, blown up about 6-8 times. Hitting the fence is wonky, sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. The very first landing you did, you tried to use the buiilding as cover, yet you still landed on the far side of the compund, exposing yourself.
In KOTH these might work, but AI is far more efficient with lock on missiles and everything else.
 
And just curious, because i dont really like compilation videos, how many landings didn't make into this video. How many ended up in flaming wrecks. Skill is one thing, but consistency is the key. If you blow up 10 times then make it once and record the one to show it off as skill, well, in I&A and ovarall anywhere, wont get you good pilot status. Doing one extraordinary stunt is not as impressive as doing the less extraordinary but still hard to do stuff all day every day.
 
What about the 99% J-hook landings? There are far more landing types out there for every situation. Barrier landing, out of trim cutback, etc. Every situation requires to use the appropriate landings. Flying is so much more than just speed. Starts from picking the LZ while doing a map-recon. Fisinhing it with getting back to base intact. Reliability is key here, on a long OP like I&A or zeus ops, players prefer a pilot who gets them to the fight, every. single. time. And not in front of an enemy squad to get instantly moved down while the heli leaves riddled with bulletholes forcing the players to watch the respawn screen and hop on the same heli just to repeat this process fr about 5 times more until one day, finally they get to fire at least one bullet and take down an enemy with it.  
 
Being overconfident, disregarding the environment factors (big difference between KOTH player accuracy and available weapon systems and I&A AI behaviour) makes you less of a reliable pilot, hence they will mock you, until you adapt to the environment and needs of others. In I&A infantry wants to be on the ground, in cover, not immediately under fire while landing. In KOHT, they want to get next to the other guy just to shoot him and tbag him. Big difference. A good pilot takes these into consideration, not just trying to do the best airshow. Entertaining yout passengers is one thing, but you have to know when you can do a barrelroll to entertain, and when you have to switch to serious mode and place your passengers' safety above everything else. And by safety i dont moean get them disembark and whatever happens to them afterwards is on them. No. You are resposible for that. That would be like, here, im gonna drop you in a pond filled with piranhas, if you die, its on you.
 
If you accept an advice, slow the approach, pick safer LZs, and take the humble approach. Be consistent, They want to get there, they want to fight. Help them achieve their goal.
Either they trust you to do safe landings, getting them close to their goals, being consistent, every single time, or they will find another pilot and mock you when you say you are the 3rd best pilot in the world. Because in their eyes, you are fulfilling your goals (flashy, dangereous, unnecessarily extreme landings just to flex your skills) and not helping them achieve their goal (get on the ground and fight, not hopping on a helicopter, taking part in an airshow then die on approach).

It was most definitely a bug. I tried a new tactic for dealing with an exploit to get stuff out of saved loadouts, and I think the unintentional side effect was that purchased gear items were getting removed immediately.  I didn't find it in local testing as "zeus" users are exempted from gear restrictions... long story short, it's on the list.

So that's a classic problem.  What happened the AO spawned with 40 people on it, and then people started to disconnect because it was getting late, and now we have a fully-stocked AO full of bad guys, and half the players needed to deal with them.  Even with 20 players, between Vortex and people afk, or getting geared up, there were only ~5 players actually in the field... ouch.
 
I'm not sure what the answer is to this; I'm hesitant to try and implement something where enemy squads disappear or despawn in relation to player numbers, because that would also imply they should spawn in response to an increase in player numbers.

I must admit I have not been very active with the community the past few weeks as understandably it's a busy period, so I would like to thank the rest of the Team for their hard work during my absent. (sshh Xwatt)
 
I see you've all been made aware of Chucks situation and I for one will be sad to see him go but also happy for him to get a life
so I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chuck for his dedication to the community and wish him all the best for his future endeavours.
 
As you've guessed correctly Xwatt will be taking over Chucks role of Public server manager (Core Staff) he will be responsible for the likes of EU#1#2#7 and TeamSpeak, so any issues or updates that needs doing you'll have to consult with him.
Lindi has now been promoted to Admin T2 for taking the responsibilities of the Spartan Lead Project, he will supervise the team, handle recruitments and organise game nights.
JANXOL we now be responsible for the XMLs, any questions or issues goes directly to him.
I hope you all join me in welcoming them to their new role and be patient with them as you were with me.
