  1. Having seen the mess created by the AI that used to spawn on a disconnection, this is beyond a bad idea. Not only does it offer no measurable positives, it would also be very detrimental to server performance and overall population due to the potential of having an extra character for EVERY player on the server.
  2. Well at least that solves one problem
  3. Assuming the post of IPs in all of the forum sections means things are underway. Hope all goes well!
  4. We had a mission last night that spawned a comms tower to the south of Fallujah - due West from the base by about 3km. Mission itself was fine - however the enemies hado mortar support. Upon our death and subsequent respawn, we quickly discovered that the enemy mortar position could fire into base. Reinforced primarily by the HE rounds he was dropping on our heads. Wish I'd taken screenshots at the time to give more advice on the matter, but the constant reign of terror of that mortar eventually lead to the mission being completed by total annihilation by F18 (thanks to the chain of command at the time asking for it!) To top this off, the merlin at Base on Fallujah appears to have spawned with no fuel inside of it. Not much of an issue given that it's right across from the refuelling station but it could be a problem if vortex needs to be scrambled quickly
  5. I'm of two minds over this. There are many ways to resolve an issue like this, and destruction of assets is rarely the best way to do it. Contact repair specs. Contact an admin. If you're far away enough from everyone, get another pilot to pick you up and it'll respawn on its own. However when the server is incredibly busy these aren't always a possibility within any decent timeframe. When there's a load of players waiting at base or FOBs who are missing a pilot, the total inability to blow a downed bird seems to go against the otherwise simple and convenient nature of EU1/2/4 Of course that's just my feeling on the matter and I'll continue to respect the rules as they're written. As for the OP of this thread - I'm all for helping more people to pilot as best as I can, and if anyone organises something I'll help to the best of my ability.
  6. Wings over Fallujah with an added bonus of something that certainly should NOT be flying over Fallujah.
  7. This is how I wound up here also. Searched the word "Invade" and this place popped up.
  8. Hello and welcome! Arma is a game that's good and easy to learn, but very difficult to master. Especially with a ton of mods involved. Thankfully you've landed in a community that isn't afraid to help. Remember, the only stupid question is the one you don't ask! See you on the battlefield.
  9. Cracking end to tonight's session
  10. I've seen it used in I&A on other, more tactically based servers. One in particular stands out and I'm almost sure everyone will know which I mean. The trouble with the defensive missions there, at least, is that they're far, far too difficult. Often spawning in multiple MBTs and just about as many infantry that were in the AO originally. Both of these things coupled with people who've depleted a vast amount of their arms can make defensive missions very, very difficult. And on a server as mostly unorganised as EU1/2 they just offer a level of difficulty that simply wouldn't be fun in my opinion. Of course, the scenario you've mentioned above is far better. A small defensive mission with fewer troops and a know AOA would be much better.
  11. Neophron, closely followed by the mohawk. Ground vehicle is probably the prowler though. Just so versatile.
  12. Welcome! Been a pleasure to fly with you the opportunities I've had so far.
  13. Pilot is where I'm at. I especially love CAS whirlybirds, but I'll take what I can get. Normally run with an added backpack including some FAKs and an ak12 or MX to improve my effectiveness should the bird go down to fire. If it's not vortex it's uav. I'd put my hierarchy like this. Pilot>UAV>Marksman(mk1 emr)>AR(spmg or zafir)>AT>Medic If I can't get any of those somehow I call it quits!
  14. Oh man, I'd love that. A single enemy in a group that has a stolen radio and can monitor your comms. Of course they wouldn't be able to actually decipher what you say, but knowing an enemy is within 5km, 2km etc would be incredibly useful information for AI in particular.
  15. Great info Leo, hopefully this will help people understand mines and their potential uses better - as well as better ways to avoid them!
  16. This is something I saw on Enhanced last night. Seemed to happen to everyone - we had a solid lock up of the game for a few seconds, everyone got thrown back to the setup room then pulled back in. Unsure if it's the same issue but outside of that it hasn't happened to be at all, running an i5-4460, GTX960 and 8gb RAM. If your specs are better than that then I'd have to think it was an issue outside of the game itself.
  17. I personally find the F/A-18 to be incredibly fun to use. Very versatile, and especially pretty to fly at night. I honestly think the modset as it is is fine with the exception of maybe Tac beards. But to be totally honest, they're just facewear. Facewear oftentimes makes no difference at all unless you're standing under a landing/taking-off helicopter. For the size of the mod, if they give people a giggle or make them recognisable (See Leo) then I don't see how they can hurt. Though if POOK gets working properly then I'd be very excited to see what it can bring - perhaps not as a constant threat, but as a mission for ground forces to go in and destroy SAM sites before we can progress in the missions.
  18. Christ I remember Falcon. A friend of mine's dad was very much into it. I'd love an excuse to pick it up and play it, this looks pretty damn fun. was very much into this game when we were younger
  19. Unsure if it's related, but at least once a day I'm hitting a brick wall with the "Session Lost" error every time I connect. 5-10 minutes after joining EU3 I wind up dropping for seemingly no reason. Only thing that resolves it is a cache verification every single time. Seems to just be a problem related to Arma 3, as this isn't the first time I've had this issue but it's happening consistently on EU3.
  20. 'ello folks. Name's Ryan but you'll see me kicking about as BloodInTheSand. I'm an early twenties Scottish bloke, normally found sitting at my desk getting annoyed at people for opening the BLOODY RAMPS ON THE HYURON WHILE I'M TRYING TO FLY. Sorry. Got a tad over excited. Anyway, had my first play on one of the AW servers today and had a grand old time. Expect to see me again!
