  1. I dont know. Its taking out quite a bit of immersion because it is obvious that this huge, long, big, block of concrete doesnt belong into the jungle, dont you think?

Possibly, doesn't really bother me though. I just built it because there's the road construction suggesting there was going to be a bridge built so I just built one for the fun of it, whether you guys think it has a place in I&A or not is why I made the poll :)

  2. I presume you've tried rei stalling java and/or arma3sync? I had crazy issues when I updated java before so I can't say I'm surprised. If there's a repair option or directories option I'd try them. Also you can press alt print screen and it will only send the window in focus to your clipboard :)

  3. Once that happened there's no way to undo it, we couldn't simply remove the ban and invite them back.

As I have made quite clear before but I'll say it again, Liru did not receive a ban for anything that happened on the server despite what he or others want to believe, it was purely directing people to the other community server without our knowledge. John McClane was banned for advertising in the server in what was apparently an AW event for AW members. The circumstances of his departure we now discover he was less than truthful about.

  4. I see Liru as an enthusiastic individual who spent his time to create content for others in this community to enjoy. In my eyes, his ban in the middle of a sentence during debriefing was a very rude thing to do considering all he did was that he created and Zeused mission which was organised through AW forum and TS and hosted on the private server and failed to kick the guy who advertised through side chat (i don't think it was in his power to do so). I tried to google server name provided by David and failed to find anything more than a dead steam site and a server tracker.

@PiranhA: Sometimes simple things like empathy works too and is less time consuming than walking :). Just try to slip into Liru's shoes for a minute.

As always: Sorry for my English

As I previously said there was a miscommunication when we were applying the ban, we intended to talk to them first. As for the server name, that was clearly linked without a doubt with the other community, punching an acronym into google isn't going to find it but I'm not going to post it here for obvious reasons. We are currently working through the ban appeal in private because unfortunately some people are unable to act like adults.

  5. I find a lot of this quite upsetting to read, while I won't call you wrong I need to point oit a few things, I receive in the region of 5 PMs and per day, many I can't deal with at the time I receive them as I work away during the week, a lot of the time I'll read it and intend to reply to it later and a lot of the time I'll forget. @Josh and @zissou will be able to attest to how easily distracted I can be. Secondly you know my personal policy on posts, so long as it doesn't break the rules it stays, criticise the community as much as you like but so long as you can stay within the rules it can stay, to suggest we would modify it to our agenda is insulting to me. I've never ever set out to have a member banned, the first time I ever actually spoke to you was in the gamenight with luetin 3 days ago, I had some criticism of your squad leading but that's as far as it goes, for the sake of the community if I ever end up doing what you've said I'll remove myself. I understand this was made in the heat of the moment but if you want to make a new appeal or send any more information you are free to do so, if you want to add anything you can pm it to me and I can post it here.

This thing about luring people to other communities honestly seems little paranoid.
It's not like we are MMORPG hardcore raiding guild, freaking about losing key player(s) in middle of progress.

Been there, done that + all the Dramas, Ragequits & Flamewars™. I'm almost crying with nostalgia (almost).

    PS:
I would speak for giving Liru some leeway about his ban appeal post. He wrote it shortly after ban and was clearly angry (who wouldn't).
Crucifying him over it is child's play, but also perhaps opportunity to be magnanimous.

We're not paranoid, it's about it being a complete dick move. You can't blame us for retaliating if we didn't fire the first shot.

  7. Shadow specifically stated that the server was just up for Lirus operation and nothing more. John McClane was the one at fault for posting the site. There were no billboards or anything telling you to go here or there,it was specifically meant for Lirus OP.

Yes, one person advertised. not the whole community. his fault, not the others.

Do you have a source of that from before the event? It looked pretty clear it wasn't from our perspective.

    uploadfromtaptalk1469466384699.thumb.jpg

  8.

That is the part I do not understand.

As I wrote, there was no "other" community being advertized at no point during the event as far as I can tell.

It was from my perspective one-shot event from AW members for AW members.

Also David - what makes you use the word "covertly"? This event was announced on this very forum, how is that "covert" ?

Because it was named, owned and operated by this other community where they were openly handing over their website. They did not at any point tell us that was happening, had they told us that was how it would work we could understand. They were advertising, just not as directly as you would normally see it.

I never did or ever will have the ambition to be a cool kid. Theres other ambitions i have and one of them if to have as much fun as possible, and in that case: mission complete, weekend was fun. And to be honest, i got rekt aswell.

Oh but the leather jacket and shades tell another story!

Short nights, long days and >900km in just 24 hours, but well worth it.

Too bad there weren't more members. An airsoft/paintball-event with just AW members would probably be even more interesting than what we already had. (And maybe more fair)

It would be, I'm glad you enjoyed it despite the numbers and travelling :)

    OK
Let me just sum up what I - as a casual player on AhoyWorld - experienced.

Couple days ago I have seen Liru's post that he wanted to run an unofficial gamenight - an even that would last about 1 hour. I signed up thinking it's nice that AhoyWorld members come up with such activity.

Yesterday I went to Ahoy TS and found the participating people in one TS room. It was stated that Shadow(if memory serves) will create ad-hoc server instance for this event - which seems reasonable, as not to interfere with usual activity on I&A. The server IP was eventually given in channel description. We logged, had one hour of fun and then went to do a debriefing - to have some discussion what went wrong etc..

About 1 minute into debriefing Liru disconnected from TS mid-sentence.
Some people then noted, that he got banned from the server. Since this greatly surprised me I stayed a bit to hear the staff explanation.
I did not caught it all, but seems that the problem was that non-AhoyWorld server address was given out on AhoyWorld TS.

    Let me say two thing:

    1) Never during the planning or execution of the event did I have impression that Liru or anyone else is trying to create new/separate community to the AhoyWorld.
In fact, I have chalked this event up as another proof that AhoyWorld is nice and active community.
Apparently, some members of the staff seen this in very different way. I wonder why that is? Miscommunication?

    2) Even thou Liru might have broken house rules, I would expect that staff would give him a warning that when running event outside AhoyWorld, he needs to use separate TeamSpeak as well. Booting him from TS mid-sentence when there is ~15 other people listening to conversation seems very ham-fisted and paints bad picture.

I would appeal to staff, to take a moment and consider, if this could perhaps have been handled much, much better?

Actually yes, there was a miscommunication over the teamspeak bans as we had planned to talk to them before dropping the hammer and it was me who was out the loop on that. The actions from them in the aftermath have been rash and obstructive, we clearly explained why we did what we did, everyone is welcome to start their own community and play in both communities, it causes a problem if you link directly to the other one covertly, that is foul play and those who got banned shouldn't be upset that they got caught out, calling us hitlers for actually enforcing our rules is just childish. We haven't banned anyone who is innocent. I asked them if it would be okay to do the same thing and link to 77th JSOC (for an example, we have no beef with them) and they refused to answer so that just leaves me to believe that they thought because it was a small community we would let them advertise.

@SirMurficus this is certainly what we strive for but in a community of this size we can only get so far and we can't please everyone unfortunately, but we try. It is unfortunate but cliques develop and they split, it happens to all communities and if their community is successful it will happen to them too and they'll be unjustly called hitlers, it is how it works unfortunately.

  13. As you're most likely aware we had our very first public AhoyWorld meetup last weekend, myself, @Bloo Flar3@Dingo, @Gamerhero, @PiranhA attended with @Eagle-Eye arriving Saturday evening for Sunday. We had an awesome time both on Saturday and Sunday with Go-karting and Airsoft. We all arrived on Friday and had a tour of the park before collecting keys to the bungalow at 3, we ended up with a really nice spot overlooking the water.

View from the restaurant, there's a little ferry that goes over to the other side for €1, a really nice little village with some more nice restaurants.

Here's our bungalow, it's not much to look at from the outside but inside it was really nice and surprisingly spacious.

For go-karting we didn't have enough people to make a race out of it so we all had two sets of 24 minutes to set our fastest times, although it wasn't a race it was still really great fun trying to catch each other. The fastest times ended with Dingo in 1st with a time of 43.27, myself just 0.08 seconds behind with 43.35, Gamerhero with 43.95, Piranha with 44.34 and Blooflar3 with 44.85. The track was indoor but made great use of the space with a modest upper section ending in a long banking turn. There are plenty of videos of this place on youtube. Huge amount of fun!

After the Saturday go karting we headed back to the park, ate and waited for Eagle-Eye to arrive after a 4 hour drive a long work day. We went out the next morning for a long day of airsoft playing multiple different games throughout the day, very tiring but a huge amount of fun. Having only played airsoft in woodland before and with 0.20g BBs I'd been saying airsoft doesn't hurt, well this was CQB and using 0.25g BBs, Dingo came out looking like he had chicken pox.  Despite that it was still great fun. Here's a few pictures from the day: https://www.facebook.com/chapterfourairsoft/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1734571990138563

All in all it was an awesome weekend, the weather held out and everyone had a really enjoyable time. I'm already planning one for next year which will be around the same time, I'm looking at the 7th to the 10th but nothing is set in stone yet, if you want to come and you do have a preference on dates please PM me!

  14. Last night I built something I'd always wanted to make since the Tanoa island was available, everything is as smooth as can be and can be driven at top speed in the hatchback sport although I'd heavily recommend slowing down on the eastern transition or you'll probably kill yourself. I didn't really make it for any reason than for fun but would you guys want this in I&A?
