It saddens me that it had to come to this. I see good intentions on both sides of this "episode". Shame you could not find common ground with Liru before this drama happened.

This thing about luring people to other communities honestly seems little paranoid.
It's not like we are MMORPG hardcore raiding guild, freaking about losing key player(s) in middle of progress.

Been there, done that + all the Dramas, Ragequits & Flamewars™. I'm almost crying with nostalgia (almost).

    PS:
I would speak for giving Liru some leeway about his ban appeal post. He wrote it shortly after ban and was clearly angry (who wouldn't).
Crucifying him over it is child's play, but also perhaps opportunity to be magnanimous.

Cebi got a reaction from DeathCon18 in [HOW TO] Recover a damaged Helo
I 'll add some tips on autorotation:

    1. Don't panic!

    2. Pull your collective all the way down immediately and keep it there! If you would raise collective it will result in you dropping out of the sky like a stone.

    3. Think about your rotor as a big toy vane. If you move it though the wind it will spin up even without motor spinning it. Your job now is to conserve energy in your rotor and at the same time lose speed and altitude. You do this by gently pitching up so airflow can spin your blades. If you were hit while moving slowly or stationary same things apply to you but you will be much more limited on picking your crash site.

    4. Now that you are in "stable" glide towards ground pick your crash site. As always flats without obstacles (buildings, trees, poles) are preferred but most of the times nowhere near you need them. If you have been hit above open water...well you can at least give a chance to your passengers to jump out. Communicate with them and coordinate jump. If they jump while the helicopter is too high or too fast water surface will behave like concrete pavement and they will be killed.

    5. Most of the times your anti-torque rotor (ATRQ) will be missing or be damaged. Luckily as you had your collective down all the way it will not effect you much until here. As you are approaching ground quite rapidly, you need to use that energy that you stored in your rotor to stop your fall by raising your collective. Be aware that if  ATRQ is missing or damaged you will start to spin. Timing is crucial to your crew survival. Do it too late or soon and you are dead.

    6. If you survived, ask other pilots to evac your passengers. Check your bird's fuel level and place a marker on the map with the location of your crash site and add notes if repairs/fuel is needed. Repair first otherwise your fuel will leak out.

    1. Teams should be balanced as much as possible, the server will automatically put you in the relevant slots in the order you connect. You shouldn't move out of those slots unless I can find a way on the night to make it all balance out and friends to play together.

    2. I'm still working on weapons, as it stands it's the MX and Katiba, both 6.5mm although it may likely change.

    3. Current default loadouts are as above for guns, 5 mags of 30 rounds each and 2 smokes.

    4. Communication is another one the jury is out for, a whole TS channel of 30 people all going "oh there's an ene- oh i'm dead". I think I'll probably force the use of direct in game so once they are downed they can't pass information.

Cebi got a reaction from Liru the Lcpl. in Operation Baywatch: July 18th (monday) 4:30pm EST/20:30 GMT
    Feedback:
I (Grenadier) and Enxio (EOD) were part of Ezlan's team. When we arrived to overwatch position on shore I was awestruck by an actual scale of the platform and nice atmospheric illumination. Ezlan was really busy leading all the strike teams so he sent us alone to assist rescue attempt on the main platform. I actually enjoyed swimming. Beams of light from a lighthouse, orange explosion and the moon over our heads... it was all so pretty to look at and listen to.

+ I had 0 problems with collisions and movement on the platform.
++ Rare experience of attacking platform and excellent CQC combat environment where you need to judge your every move.
+++ Performance was solid even on my 7 years old CPU. Never went under 25 frames which is miracle and I went to this event expecting to have problems with too many objects and AI spawned.

    - Late to the fight, it seemed little chaotic to me. Everybody was running everywhere and last hostages were marked pretty late even thou they were in the bungalow on south side right next to ladders. Missions on a platform/structures are quite prohibitive for AI because they can't properly navigate them so they are not that challenging. The challenge, in this case, lies in making the plan of attack and execute it as flawlessly as possible. Bear in mind that we were detached from our leader and were not included in any communication channel other than our group VOIP so this may be only mine subjective feeling.
    - Shadow somehow misinterpreted order to get A-164 ready and boarded Pawnee instead. While it was funny to me I felt frustration from Liru's voice. This stuff can wreck carefully set up mission in seconds.
    - Some SDVs approached really close to enemy AI and spooked them. Brandenburg SDV passed right under the main platform which I think made all AI switch to combat stance. I understand that some of us are still learning weird intricacies of this game but I would have executed some hostages right there .

All in all, I really enjoyed myself and thank you @Liru the Lcpl. for setting up and Zeusing very interesting and rememberable mission.

PS: I know some of you guys are allergic to Brandenburg guy. I made it no secret that I don't love the guy too, but can you leave the outbursts and shouting out of the game? I play games to relax after a day in my rather stressful job. The guy just asked what gun can You recommend to him and Sniper1982 and Hoffie92 pounced at him like starved cats on a mouse.
PPS: I apologise for my English.

@Liru the Lcpl.: I know there will be command chain but instead of complete strategy of attack which is in competence of members of command i only provided (as you said) some pointers for offshore assault tactics in Arma3 and its specifics.

BTW: Here is my loadout. Vest fits inside assault pack and is empty so it can be put on instantly throught inventory. I selected this vest because it is lighter then NATO counterpart and has bigger neck and groin protector. 6xStanag, 4xHE 40mm, 3xIFAC and then some smokes, flares, one hand granade...everything Grenadier needs. I selected SPAR 5.56 with UGL because it has the smallest recoil of all weapons with UGL.

So will we plan ahead this time?
I will present some of my ideas and tips.

    - Gain as much intel as posible with UAV operator this time. Good intel is must for fast and precise operation!

    - Offshore platform means we need to get close and personal to engage. Pack bulletproof vests in backpacks and some light high ROF weapons. Remember that overpenatration is a bad thing for hostage rescue.

    - EOD specialists should have SDAR rifles with UW ammo because they will be looking for satchel charges and thus they might need to engage enemy diver if some will be present or can engage targets on platform while they are still underwater (UW 5.56 can penetrate water and have enought energy left to kill person standing above you). Others can carry silenced SMGs or carabines. Silencer are there more for hidding flash so you dont blind yourself when firing with NVGs. Intel stated that there might be CSAT present so do not use IR laser pointers. Also, ASP Kir will shine in this enviroment if it will be available to us.

    - Marksman can support main force by taking down sentries on elevated positions such as Guard Towers, ATC, Lighthouse, rooftops and above entry points. During clear night Marksman with .338 rifle can engage targets from dinghy boat from range aprox 1400m (LRPS). This requires calm weather conditions. Alternatively after AA threat is neutralized Marksman can engage from MH-9 bench. FiringFromVehicle positions has some sway to it so train shooting distant targets from vehicles in advance.

    - AI will spot you in water: day - 60m; night+NVG 40m; night+noNVG 20m
Distance is aproximate and might vary with AI skill. I need to test it some more with AI detection test by Greenfist
SDVs can get as close as 300m (in testing i got as close as 224m in daylight before i got detected). We  should drive them as deep as possible. Dive from periscope depth when crossing 700m distance to objective.

    - If AI on shore is shooting bullets at you, he will NEVER be able to hit you (even centimeterers under surface). Granades thou...they are really deadly underwater and if AI has them they will use them. 40mm granades detonates on contact with water surface and overpreasure can kill you too.

    - Check your gear before leaving. I know this is obvious but underwater you will not be able to even open inventory. So put those NVG, GPS, attachements in place before you leave SDV or dive.

    - Move all teams to positions before proceeding with further actions. If shit hits the fan it is generaly preferable that everybody is in position.

@xSniper1982: CSAT ability to respawn was mentioned in first post. Location of respawn is actualy one of the hardest thing to balance. If Liru placed the spawn somewhere inside Coms Bravo he risked that we might be spawned camped and i guess he wanted to make impression that respawning CSAT players will be some kind of reinforcement. After respawn we had to climb down the face of volcano to get to Bravo which was very exposed and aprox 900m away.
I actualy think that only Jimbo got killed and ran back from coms Alfa. Ezlann respawned after Jocky killed him and he went for VTOL and I respawned to get back from beach where i parked Tempest with the Device.

    Hi
Thank you Liru for mission and Shadow for hosting it!

    Some feedback from CSAT perspective:
Thanks @JimboSpike @Ezlann for great teamwork. Was a pleasure playing with you guys. The plan was spot on. There was some confusion in the end. In the briefing we were told that to extract static device which was in one of the bunkers we need to land on one of the helipads and Ezlann decided that i should be the pilot of VTOL doing the extraction. When 30min passed Liru told us that Ezlann will take VTOL and so i ran to Tempest and waited for VTOL to make enough noise that it will drown the sound of Tempest Engine and will allow me to dissepear in confusion. Ezlann then decided that he will try to scare enemy with some strafing runs and that is the point where all went sour. When i parked Tempest device near the coast, thus completing objective, Liru told us to try to recapture device in the base. I respawned back to the Com Alpha and found out that we have been attacked and there was a Humming bird with engines still on and dead Eagle-Eye slumped in his chair. I decided that i shoud take it, land it on east side of the base and engage Blueforce inside. But what happened was that when I arrived I noticed Brandenburg guy on armored tower. I still don't know how I was able see his player tag. I decided to scare him by buzzing the tower and then give guys on the ground chance to spot that somebody stole their vehicle. Sadly, it went badly as i touched a railing of the tower in high speed . I am deeply sorry for that.
Here is printscreen of our map done by Ezlann

    PvE&P element -
I like the direction Liru took with involving players to be part of opfor for operation. This is very original and i can see great potential in that.
Thinks that will increase fairness of PvP firefigts:
    3rd person: off
I will let Dslyecxi explain this one.
    Extended map content: off
We had it almost too easy  because i could see rought (sometimes exact) position of enemy players even before they ware spotted by my eyes. This way i was able to spot marksman in jungle 1km away (decided not to engage him becouse he was no thread to us there even though he managed to kill some AI on towers), IronLance coming up at base was spotted while he was still some 500m away. Even silencers did not help.
Killed by and Score table: off
I also recomend this. Players tend to be distracted from objectives to go on personal vendetas. In situation when you kill somebody out of your LOS (target in bush, behind wall...etc.) you are imidiately informed that he is down either kill massage or checking your score.

    Random thoughts after watching video:
Liru, You are cluttering your view (and decreasing your FPS) by leaving the objects in base composition be active in zeus interface. You can let Shadow place those for you or you can use the Ares module to add/remove objects from Zeus. When you lost sight of Alpha team which was being transported to south of the objective you could have used it to see them. I also suggested to you to add objects to Zeus after we placed mines so you could see them and decide their fate as I feared we might have placed some mines in paths of AI patrols (which we did and some AI were killed by them).
It was sad that coordination of bluefor attack did not went that well when recon got itself spotted and alpha deployed too late too far. If you could coordinate atacks from two directions with Pawnee hitting those ATC towers like Amentes showed us we would be screwed and mission might have been total succes for bluefor.
Also @Amentes we could not hope to defend against your attacks. It was simply perfect and you almost did not give us a chance to return fire with rifles let alone with MANPAD. I went for AA launcher when you made first pass, but after another two i returned it back to supply box because it was obvious to me that you will not give me chance to lock on you. I think you made a big impact on us because you allowed others to advance, while we tried to hide from you.

    PS: Sorry for my english.

The last operation was pretty great, but there are a few things that needed to be changed. For this event, those changes will be made, from better signing up to more organized squads which will be done through TS chat and its whisper system.
Although the previous operation was a failure, NATO is fully aware of the CSAT threat now. Tanoa is now on full alert, and any guerrilla offensives now are reported to us for counteroffensive movements. An hour ago, Tanoan officials reported that Comm site Bravo has been taken over by enemy activity. Although the site isn’t finished, there have been reports of a mobilization of construction equipment and something briefly showing on our radar screens. We suspect CSAT is using the site for something sinister, and thus it is absolutely vital that we take this facility down.
The threat here is major gentlemen. We know CSAT has been working on devices related to seismic activity, and a product of their research so close to a one active volcano…it’s clear that there is a major possible threat here.
Just one extra thing. Tanoan officials do not want us poking our noses around comm site Alpha. They’re worried that is we use it as a staging area, valuable communication equipment could be damaged. That site serves as an early warning system for the entire country, so we must honour this request.
    NATO OBJECTIVES:
    1.       Eliminate 80% of the Guerilla forces around comm sight Bravo
    2.       Find and destroy any CSAT technology
    NATO’s assets:
    -Infantry (the players)
    -Air transport via hummingbird pilots
    - 2 HMG prowlers
    -Darters (2)
-1 and only 1 Pawnee for CAS

    CSAT OBJECTIVES:
    1.       Defend CSAT technology at all costs for 30 minutes on first contact OR 45 minutes after the mission officially begins until the VTOL can extract it (meaning NATO can spend at max 15 minutes of unit placement preparation before a time penalty, timing is key here)
    CSAT’s assets:
    -Guerrilla emplacements and forces
    -Viper infantry (4-6 players)
    -AT and AA assets
    -Defensive emplacements

    Additional notes:
    -CSAT capable of respawning
    -multiple ways for CSAT extraction
-sign up recommended, but drop ins allowed
    -no mods
-NATO squad leaders can bring RPGs
    -CSAT team picked at random

On a final note, more specific instructions will be posted as time goes by, and within 3 days of the operation, the CSAT team will be contacted and given a specific briefing as well as a preview of the area of operation in order to set up additional defenses.

See you all in 2 weeks
