I think we just need a fresh start; new mission, revised modpack.

And perhaps even more importantly - an actual direction/goal/stanpoint that the server sticks to. The focus of entertainment should be mostly centered around gameplay/teamplay, not mods.

I'm all for removing all the mods and starting fresh running just TFAR, ACE and RHS for example. Keeping mods to a minimum also makes the issue of auto-mod updates less of a hassle, right? So many small mods are on the server now, so many purely aesthetics, but also the sheer amount of vehicles of which so many aren't used.

They were relevant with the larger player base when people screamed to have them added. But a fresh start and a clear direction can keep the downloads to a minimum and makes Steamworkshop downloads a much more reasonable solution. I don't see why some are so keen on not removing mods now they've become obsolete with the current player base. I'd say, grab this opportunity for a fresh restart while it lasts.

So if it wasn't clear to some people my comment about Karate's GN was a joke. Personally I thought I made it clear with the real life photo of a M1 Abrams and the bit about Al Jazeera, but take it as you will.

Obviously I have nothing personal against Karate or anyone in the community at all and I cleared that up with him.

This isn't an apology, but I hope no one else other than @Karate Pyjamas and @Xwatt took my comment the wrong way.

I always encourage for people to take any personal problems that they have with me on TS; "man to man" so to speak. I've grown far too tired of people keeping themselves in the dark about any issues they have against me and it's only taken us backward in the community, so please, don't keep it to yourself and build up hate for no reason.

Anyway, me and @Minipily's crew had fun on that GN, he even has footage recorded from it. This is exactly why I thought it would be appropriate to joke about. Actual apologies for straying the topic off course.

P.S @Xwatt Thanks for the advice but rest assured I'm confident that, after three years, I have the antidote for AWE. Next time I'll keep sarcasm and satire off text and save it for TS only, my bad. @MoonFire

@Karate Pyjamas I don't miss your gamenights or your Zuesing.

Remember that? Yeah that was a great gamenight for us lads. Loved getting executed on Al Jazeera too, cherry on the top. @Minipily

The core of AWE is for me ACE and TFAR as Johnson suggested. But I wouldn't play with vanilla gear and vehicles. I like to play as USMC/US-Arm/BAF. So having some of that gear in place to play as those factions is what AWE is for me. I don't give a rats ass about all the operator BS and the huge selection of random countries camo.

What still strikes me as odd is how special AWE is in terms of gameplay, banter and possibilities within Stiletto, yet nobody catches on to it? Stilleto offers so much more than just going to OBJ1 and then going on to OBJ2. Remember when we first used to scout out a few towns, talk to civs and set up a FOB before we went to the OBJ?

On that note, I'd happily run a GN to see what the turn-up is. Just need to figure out how it all works again... Ya know, putting a mission down on Stilleto as a backbone I used to enjoy. I don't think any of the Prometheus maps would still work. But damn, those were good times

    Thank you ❤️
I had people message me begging at one point for me to spice it up... I truely don't know what it was that I did well...

One thing that annoyed me personally was when Zeusing was done when nobody requested it, there was a few nights when things just appeared to be rather random....

That said, my return to AWE for now I can only say is probably going to be a fluke, I don't know how long it will last. I wouldn't want to attempt to pick up a moderator position, but if I stay, and player count goes up, I may run a GN at some point... But don't count on it.

Sure but these aren´t happening anymore so people like me tend to not play anymore.
I`m talking about people going full spec-ops-look-at-my-coolest-boiiii-EUWest-loadout-style instead of standard army of whatever nation. Also being in a fireteam made up of soldiers of 4 different nations plus one whatever-spec-ops-guy seems fairly unrealistic?

AWE has never been 100% serious play. It has always been a place for Team-play and fun. Immersion on AWE has MOSTLY been provided by user made missions such as Karate's Prometheus series.

Hello everyone, with the news of the passing of our friend and former moderator, Oderus we will be hosting a game and celebration of his life tomorrow at 19:00 BST 20:00 CEST on EU#2.

I invite everyone to come if you knew him, if you didn't. Together we will share memories and enjoy playing the game where we all met Oderus.

The game will be I&A2 with no mods, or vanilla mods.

I intend to stream this event for those whom can't make it. https://www.twitch.tv/soggymuffineu

Hopefully everyone can make it and we can enjoy what was the great Jeff Lincoln.

Stiletto 036 is now on the server, for all maps... it's a big update.

    Change log 035/036
    0. Version 035 was a test release for a bunch of systems and has been folded into the general release of 036.
    1. Added custom weather system: players should note changes to prevailing clouds, rain, wind, fog, lightning and wave height. Default is random, but new lobby parameter supports Rainy or Sunny weather presets.
    2. Fixed issue with mission control not showing active missions. (For staff: bugged missions can be aborted by clicking the "Abort mission" button underneath the list of missions)
    3. Fixed issue with being prone occasionally throwing player out of zoomed in (optics) view. Being prone, and rolling, no longer assaults your stamina.
    4. Added ability to take leadership of group you join as team leader (though hopefully, this shouldn't be necessary as changes were made to make dynamic groups more efficient, and you should automatically be made team leader).
    5. Fixed static MG emplacements for more placement reliability.
    6. Fixed Find Nuclear bomb mission so bunker is placed on level ground.
    7. Update to vehicle listings for additional spawnable vehicles (forward compatible with planned vehicle updates - AV8B).
    8. Update to vehicle service pads to accommodate VTOL vehicles (can now be serviced at both plane and helicopter pads. Still spawn at helicopter pads).
    9. Fixed instances in missions completing early or without player interaction.
    10. ACE medical actions are now logged in the player's RPT file, and the player receiving the treatment receives a hint regarding the treatment performed.
    11. Added vibration sound for when text message is received.
    12. Revisions to quickload/quicksave system using more modern commands.
    13. Added remote view television for bored players in player spawns. Static view on television is a bit buggy (won't change properly) but fullscreen mode will work properly. Move any direction to get out of fullscreen view.
    14. Removed role change timeout; tweaked methodology in dynamic groups to improve stability.
    15. Forward compatibility added for ACE 3.12 (modules deprecated, CBA settings enabled for compatibility)
    16. Moved main base on Altis from Selakano to AAC Airfield.
    17. Removed respawning of mission-spawned vehicles in base; saves a loop to improve performance, and not as crucial as players are spawning their own vehicles anyway.
    18. Spawned Ground vehicles with miniguns now use RHS miniguns.
    19. Fixes for dynamic groups, as well a new command to reset the groups has been implemented for staff (it's available as a two-part control in the 'Text Messages' dialog screen. Why text messages? Because when it gets bugged, you can't spawn the Group management dialog).
    20. Revised the default loadouts for USMC Woodland.
    21. Tweaks to arsenal contents.
    22. Vehicle de-spawn enabled, you can now de-spawn an accidentally spawned vehicle, or heavily damaged vehicle (staff may de-spawn any vehicle on the pad).
