  1. I'd say delete Teamspeak and download the latest version, run the ACRE2 installer from Arma3Sync again and make sure you've got the 64bit Teamspeak as well as the acre2_win64.dll in Teamspeak 3/plugins folder.

If something still goes wrong, try and see if the error pops up in the log acre2.txt that is created in your Ts3 main folder and if that doesn't work I'd suggest...

Install teamviewer and hop on the teamspeak server sometime soon, look for an admin, who knows his way around EU#3 or an EU#3 moderator or a Field Ambassador with experience with installing the mods.

They can probably help you out better, making live changes than replying to the topic over and over.

  2. 1. I understand what you are getting at, but doesn't this borderline the aspect of "i am better then you" mentality.

    2. The requirements are also a bit vague towards actual veteran members of the community. Some including myself id consider as veterans on EU3, but do not qualify the ranking of vet, for the lack of constant activity for 3 months. Which also brings up the point of existing vets. If you gain this veterancy and become inactive for long period of time, will you loose this ranking?

    1. There is no skill attached to the whole being Veteran, it just signifies your position as a long time and active EU#3 player.

    2. What would you define as an actual veteran member? I would call it someone who has been practising something over a long time. Seeing the mods we are still frequently subject to change I'd say a small catching up and evaluation period would suffice for the older members to become eligible. Being inactive for a long time, will most likely result in you getting removed from the program.

As another point I'd like to raise up the part of the XML having the ability to add a remark, if you want to play a bit milsim-like; even though we are not a milsim community - feel free to insert in that remark a couple of area's which you excel at.

More teamspeak tags would probably not be a very good idea, seeing we would like to keep things nice and simple and ... <read bold text above with strict tone>.

Also, it's all up to the creator of the event to designate people to slots, so if he'd rather have veteran players in important slots or slots they are dedicated to, that's totally fine. You're showing other people the ropes anywhat, what better enviroment than a gamenight, right?

  3. Hello brothers in arms,

As you may or may not have deduced from the title we are implementing a new sort of system in the EU#3 community, the veteran system.
This means that players that meet the qualifications can be added to a new Squad.XML, specially designed for EU#3 Veterans with as motto "Exemplo Ducemus" - which is Latin for 'leads by example', which is exactly what we're expecting from the veterans.
Furthermore we have redesigned the 'Experienced @ EU#3' Team Speak server group into a Veteran tag -with real dogtags, yes- which will, next to being added to the XML, only be handed out to the Veterans.

What we expect from the Veterans is that they - with the new respect their status should give them - provide an example and a grip for both new players and players that have been with us for a while, to show them the ropes and provide them, along with yourself of course, the best playing experience possible.

Seeing we - as staff team - are trying to foster a special environment on EU#3 the selection procedure is going to have a couple of requirements, after you meet the requirements (listed below) and are eager to sign-up you should talk to an EU#3 Moderator, who will pass your name on to the entire moderator team and after a short discussion about the candidate you will hear whether we think you belong on the XML or not.

    Requirements:

    • Should be regularly active in the EU#3 community.
          Has been active on EU#3.
Should have a total playtime of around 40 hours on EU#3.
Is able to attend some community events throughout the year.
    • No bans in the last 6 months or warned for serious infractions in last 3 months.
    • Trustworthy in representing the AhoyWorld name and logo.
    • Moderators agree on you getting the tag. (as stated above)

A serious infraction or getting banned will result in losing the status. Also repeatedly cancelling events for invalid reasons will be frowned upon.

Re-instatement will be possible after a cooldown period of  either 3 months on any serious infraction or 6 months after recieving a ban. After which you will be watched and any other infraction, however small might still lead to losing the status (again)

Post will be moved to the EU#3 section in a few days.

  4. Good effort putting this together, thanks a lot mate!

To be honest; us EU#3 mods are working on a more up-to-date version of the old EU#3 guidelines, but someone else's thoughts and input cannot hurt considering EU#3 is a lot more different from regular Arma 3 servers.

This should help some people at least, once again; thanks for putting this together regardless of what might be put up in the future.

  5. Might be able to make it. Don't have anything planned (yet).

Could we please stop complaining about ACRE.
Seriously we'll just remove ACRE; mute the channel and force you to do morse code with flashlights, because that sounds like a much better solution at this rate. :P

  6. Very nice introduction, don't think I've seen one this extended before.
So on the formal introduction; I would like to give you a formal warm welcome to the AhoyWorld community  :D

On the FPS.. Arma *ugh* --> Modded *Urghgghhh*

Although, what I can tell you is that on a new gamemode that's being developed for the modded server the FPS appeared much better during the test rounds we had.

    See you around.

  7. If you've got the 64-bit ts3 version installed. Make sure the win64.dll is in there.

    If you've got the 32-bit ts3 version - the win32.dll it is.

Run both Ts3 and Arma3 as administrator and make sure your TFAR plugin is off.

I haven't experienced any problems apart from a one time Babel-buggout, which - after BACON looked into it last night - should be fixed now.

Any other stuff, like people not being able to hear a person is most likely cliënt side now; seeing the modules should be fixed.

Might there be any other errors; we still have a Gauntlet feedback thread. Even though it's legacy software; that doesn't mean people have stopped maintaining it.

Sadly, I won't be able to play for a week or so probably. My headset decided to fuck me over by breaking when I calmly put it on my desk :-/.

  8. On maps such as Zargabad or Fallujah, where you're fighting low armored Taki's; 7.62 is really not necessary (apart from the Marksman maybe).

If everyone would just get over the motto; the bigger the better - We'd be done with dressing up and ammo problems a lot quicker.
A 300 meter 5.56 round to the torso should do enough damage to put a raghead out of the fight be it dead or unconscious.

On maps such as Panthera or Chernarus, you can do fine with 5.56; I can see the point in some more people taking somewhat more heavy caliber, but exchanging ammo should still not be that big of a problem.

On the topic of standardisation or rationalisation; we've had these kinds of discussions in the past; fixed loadout vs. the freedom to pick your own gear or give them a weapon and make only the attachements customizable etc.

Every time it just ends up with the community very divided between more realistic gameplay or more freedom - one side you'll have people like the Whey-squad and on the other side you have the 'Lets go seal team 6 backwards caps and full black-out fit <yo>' guys.

I'm totally pro-standardisation and fixed everything apart from attachments, facewear and a choice between any 5.56 gun that fits STANAGs.

  9. Welcome to the community. Good to see you're willing to join teamspeak 3 also.

If you're interested in more voice communication; or just better communication with more realistic gameplay - I would like to recommend our modded Arma server called 'EU3'.

  10. A regular fireteam's ideal engagement range depends on the terrain for me. Whenever moving closer than 600 meters - which would be the maximum range for fireteams without marksmen for me - isn't safe. You just waste a bit more ammo than bandages to take the enemy down.
Whenever moving closer is safe enough; I'd say move up to a distance of like 300 meters and try to hit the enemy from there. Which would be ideal range for me. People don't take too many precise bullets and are still perfecty able to engage the enemy.

I'd say 100/200 meters is a bit too close for comfort.

CQB however - like in Fallujah or in Zargabad - is great, but in those situations you would want to avoid head to head confrontations, but peek corners and take them down one by one.

Like Mini said; we have a couple of guys who want to play more realistic than the rest. Which is perfectly fine of course - as long as you stick by the rules.

However; this works the other way around too. I see why people might get frustrated over others not living up to these realistic situations and running around with Designated Marksman Scopes and 7.62 rifles, therefor a couple of "guideline tables" have been set up. If you ever see someone not living up to these guidelines, feel free to tell them and link them the post.

If they are still unwilling to change their loadouts, call a staff member. Don't crop it up and get frustrated more and more.

That last sentence doesn't only go for loadouts, if their behaviour or anything else is wrong and irritating you, talk about it to a staff member.
We don't want anyone to feel bad, because of other people not abiding by the rules.
