Whoo, @Vlk it was meant to be joke, sorry if you and @Copey took it the wrong way. And I filled out the form a couple of minutes afterwards anyways, because like I said I was joking around.
Sorry again

General Info
This mission is a multi session operation or MSO for short.
If you played MSO in A2 you will know what the general idea is, if not: MSO is a mission that is designed to take multiple sessions to complete.
How multiple session is handled is that after each event I hold, the server\mission state gets saved to a database.

Vlk got a reaction from Miczils in Ahoy Enhanched - could we be better?
Can we get better? Ofc we can. And we appreciate your opinion. No hard feelings at all. I'm glad ur posting this kind of feedback. This has been a talking point multiple times, and for the record, it's better now than it was 8 months ago. If anyone have any suggestions on how to cut down idle time and increase play time, reply. If it would be fixed loadouts, it would take away most of the fun for me. I love using time to customize my gear. And my own time, not everyone else's

Vlk reacted to Cain in A month too late...
Guess it's time to put my banhammer back into its display case.
I finally got around to re-installing Arma on my new rig, and uni has started to calm down a bit so I figured, 'Hey, I might as well come back for a while at least', so here I am.
Looking forward to seeing how things have developed in our game, praise be to BIS, and rejoining game nights to yell at people for not carrying extra SAW ammo for me. Ta to all the old guys that may or may not remember me, looking forward to mucking around with you all again.
Edit: I notice both my avatar and signature are broken/incorrect. Guess I'll have to fix those.

Vlk reacted to SkullCollector in AWE Repo Consistent Naming
With the last repo update for EU3 AWE, we had 16 GB of updated stuff thrown at us.
How A3Sync works is that it checks for folder names, so when it can't find the one from the repo server in your Arma directory, it is blind to everything else, even if it's just a tiny revision. So if you had ACE 3.6.0.0, then 3.6.1.0 comes along and changes a couple PBOs, the rest should be unaffected and the download would be a few MB at most to replace just those. But if the version number were in the folder name, A3Sync would look for @ACE_3.6.1.0, but only find @ACE_3.6.0.0, ignore it and proceed to download the entire mod again.
That's mildly annoying for small mods such as ACE, but absolutely infuriating in the case of RHS or CUP.
If you know about this, you can rename the mods in question yourself, but most players will either not be aware of it or do not comprehend the procedure. It's tedious as, if you mix up your dashes and your underscores, you'll have achieved nothing.
My proposal thus is to rename all mods with version numbers or otherwise variable names on the repo server itself. @CUP_Terrains_Core-1.3.0, for example, will then become @CUP_Terrains_Core. @ProjectOPFOR was re-downloaded because it now has an underscore in it, so if things like that remained consistent from now on, we could save a bit of traffic.
All future repo downloads of this week's magnitude would be cut down by gigabytes with a quick global change.
That's not to say to go out of your way to do so now. Perhaps just bear it in mind for the next update cycle.
Cheers.

Yes, there is a lot of idle time as said, so if there's nothing to do, players will very rapidly find something to do. However, you will quickly notice that with a clear call to rally, most everyone will be eager to step off.
If there's no willing leader to take charge, you're more than welcome to provide the boot for the arse kicking. That goes to everyone. Just because you're not at the top of the hierarchy, that doesn't mean you're not allowed to look after some structure.

Vlk reacted to Teddy in first come - first serve
Scar, you cannot possibly expect any Admin to tell a player to leave a vehicle because you simply called dibs on it. Whoever gets the vehicle first means it is theirs. You might forget but the side missions arent designed specifically for you.
EU1 is a public server, you should expect people to not have any awareness (you've mentioned stuff like this before on many occasions) and take any vehicle they see regardless of whether you did the side mission all by yourself.

Vlk reacted to Ryko in Changing of the Guard
Hello all AhoyWorld members!
As a result of long term ongoing discussions, @Davidour site leader for almost a year has decided to move on and pass leadership forward. After extensive discussion I have been elected to take his place.
We thank David for his leadership and contributions to the AhoyWorld community and wish him all the best in his future endeavours. He has agreed to stay on temporarily in an advisory capacity until things smooth out, however his decision on whether he decides to stay with us long term has yet to be decided.
For my part, I'll appreciate your patience and support during this period of transition and I look forward to seeing you out in our various virtual battlefields.
