    So as Raz already said we used to play ArmA 2 on some German server when I was at uni, we met this player called taxi who we immediately got on with, you know when you meet someone online and you're all like "that's my jam" but more like "that's my man" but in a totally platonic don't want to have sex with you way. Although I did once ask Jack if he was gay and at the time it totally sounded like I wanted the D. I think I'm going off topic here. The point is this Taxi guy was one of those people who you just get on with when you play, the last person I met like that had been Raz in 2008 and I could say without a doubt my friendship with him has been among the best.
     
    Anyway like raz said taxi was gone for a long time but Maybe a year later Jack (Taxi/Rarek) messages me on facebook about a community he's building called Ahoyworld. back when it first started ArmA wasn't really on the menu, they were more involved with World of Warcraft and Minecraft, which is where all the Ahoy Coin stuff on the site emanated from. When ArmA 3 came out is when the community found it's own place in the world, and thanks to Jack's initial conversion of ArmA 2s "Domination" to what we eventually had to name "Invade & Annex" (pretty proud that I came up with that name, jus' sayin') Ahoyworld has cemented it's place firmly in the Armed Assault  community.

    I'm back! For only the umpteenth time in my long history of not being here, anyway the rest of the crew onboard my submarine decided 3 months was enough time spent around me and I've been sent home from deployment on my holidays!
     
    And to celebrate I have purchased Oculus rift DK2 and a Saitek X55 Rhino, so DCS is what I have in mind!

    This is the official Ahoy World development thread for our ArmA 3 multiplayer Stratis Invade & Annex game type.     The simulator community has been referring to it as a screenshot simulator for the last year of it's development, which hasn't filled me with massive confidence over the realism of the sim, obviously I'll still get it to try out for myself.
     
    Anyone who wants to start throwing simulator around needs to get Assetto Corsa though, there is literally no other sim that feels as hooked up as AC.

    These cars a great at teaching you not to touch the barriers, just a tap and the fragile machines will shed wheels and other crucial parts, having said that though most of my experience with this car yesterday was spent admiring barriers and escape roads, I had only just started posting clean laps when I made this video.
     
     
    The car is extremely challenging to drive, there is tremendous under-steer entering turns but by the time you're exiting the turn it's become over steer, the car requires the driver to maintain excellent balance in order to go through corners quickly. Then there is the challenge of accelerating a vehicle that weighs very little but houses a 400 bhp engine, an experience which can only be compared to a rodeo. Finally the car is a challenge under braking, namely because the brakes are the least advanced feeling part on the vehicle, unresponsive and easy to lock, slowing down is therefore problematic.

    So yesterday was payday, so I decided to reward my hard work with a new game!
     
    Since the online experience offered by Race07 is now almost completely lost, I thought it was time to branch into a new online sim RFactor is of course a game of high popularity which I have never played.
     
    Well I got right to it and jumped in one of the most challenging cars on the most challenging track: A Lotus 49b (unlicensed as Eve F1B 68) around the 1966 Monte Carlo circuit.
     
    Talk about jumping in the deep end! Here's how I got on, definitely not a fast time, but it will take a lot of time to tame this snake of a car! God only knows how Graham Hill managed to win on this circuit 5 times in similar cars.

    Well Planetside 2 is a good start point then as it's F2P, Rise of Flight is an amazing F2P simulator too with air to air death matches: lots of fun, TMNations Forever is entirely free and very fun, Civ V only costs £20 and I think you can have up to 12 players in a game at a time, Cossacks only costs £3.99 and will run on any post 2001 PC with little to no problems, DCS World base pack is F2P and very fun! Loads of games out there

    The guy on No Punctuation mentioned that Bioshock Infinite has a tenancy to pretentiously crawl up it's own ass. So I'll have to watch out for that when I eventually play it

    This is by far the most unusual looking DLC I've ever seen, and it has instantly made Bioshock Infinite worth buying IMO just to see Rapture before things got complicated!

    Concept & Goal:
    1:1 3D planet earth with terrain deformation. Perfect platform to build any possible game.
     
    My dream:
    Is that they will use this planet to implement a global multiplayer GTA\ARMA\Driving\softbodyphysics\WAR\Anarchist game with a streetview\googlemaps overlay in full 3D..... that is not too much asked is it ... LOL

    Well the Lotus 49 has just been released for iRacing so I had to take it around my local Oulton...
     
    hmm.. this thing is not easy to drive. Thought I was having a good lap then this happened
     

     
    Do not despair though! I plan to be able to do something that resembles a lap by the end of the weekend... hopefully...
