  1. @Eagle-Eye: I enjoyed reading through your document. Even though this would take some substantial time on my side to learn you motivated me to try. I live near 21st. Air Force Base Caslav and some of my friends use radios to listen to pilots chatting with ATC and then spot approaching (or leaving) planes and helicopters with binos or cameras. To be able to more understand what they are saying is bonus cherry on top.
  2. IonceWasATeddy was aware that there is situation going on as Scar contacted him. But truth to be told this was the first time I witnessed something like this and at first, I was unsure what to do. It came back to me today on my morning commute and decided that I must write a forum post about what transpired yesterday and I found out there is already this discussion going on. Do these guys even sleep? Edit: To add to the discussion: First come - first serve is very common with rewards for pilots and I became used to it and never doubted the fairness of a "race" to get into that juicy AH-99, A-164 or Mi-48. Rarely any of the pilots really "deserved" that reward by active participation on completing side missions. So if somebody bested me I learned to stop whining that they will crash it in 5 minutes and instead provided helping tips how to survive around active AO and still be effective. And then I facepalmed as they crashed it or cheered for them as they landed at the base to rearm. I think that current state is ok if we act like civilised people. But there may be another way. We do have a point reward system tied to score. You can spend these points for various fire missions. What if completing side mission (namely interacting with the objective) awarded 1 special point that you could then spent at Reward NPC. After consuming the point the reward rolled from the pool will spawn next to reward NPC. The race for the reward will change to race for the objective. Of course, we might face a different set of problems with this :). Just an idea.
  3. @ShadowAce11 : We can only dream about them in Vanilla Arma. But with mods, almost anything is possible I guess.
  4. @TheScar: I understand your rage Scar. Actions of those players were intended to provoke you. To get rid of you with the perma ban. I don't know what you did to them or how you deserved their attention but they said it themselves on TS yesterday evening. @IOnceWasATeddy : Even if there is no proof. Those players were very much aware of what they are doing and announced their intent via TS to provoke SCAR to kill them. Off course you could not know that. When I typed to SCAR in an attempt to defuse the situation, they asked me to not contact him (basically shushed me). But can I ask you what passed through your head when you saw them perched on the hilltop away from AO (doing exactly nothing with that KUMA for at least 10 minutes) with SCAR at their back? @ALL I am past the age that stigma of a snitch on the internet can bother me. I won't stand aside when somebody is trying to BULLY or PROVOKE others to get them banned from servers. In future cases with these MEMBERS please consider what I said in this post. @SUPERLOVERs: I was disgusted by your lack of honour and respect to fellow player yesterday. I was used to dealing with this on PvP scene but we are on bloody COOP server. Can't you play nice with other kids?
  5. @Eagle-Eye> Pilots on EU1&2 are Pilots on EU1&2. The comparison with mass transport was only used to get a point across. No need to dissect it. @All: Most players are just interested to be transported somewhere close to the action. Most of the time there is only a few if any cooperating squads, hence most players are indifferent where you place them and the rest will voice their opinion.
  6. I used Repair specialist as vehicle crew in the past. I@A3 (and 3.1) is in my opinion more focused on infantry combat and this makes them a bit underused right now. But personally, I don't see that as a problem. If More FOBs are taken or side mission rewards roll some armour then those slots can be used by players that wish to operate armoured vehicles and give them more survivability. Limiting their choice of primary weapons would limit their use even more. I am happy about their current weapon limitations as they can function as a rifleman. I would rather welcome return of sling-able service containers and repair offroad. EOD squad had never seen much of use. Return of the minefields would be interesting as I was always amused by players running like headless chicken inside minefields and blowing their teammates (if I was not blown up myself). My guess is that minefields were removed because so many players died in them. Even if you had mine detector, explosives and skill you often died because somebody killed you by setting off bounding mine. In the public server which in my eyes is designed as quick action cooperative FUN with low demands on the individual player experience in Arma, it is good they are gone. What to do with EOD squad then? Limiting all placeable explosives to some roles seems like a good idea but it goes against the flexibility and mission flow. Let me explain this. Now imagine that you crashed your bird and your main rotor is too close to an object. You need a vehicle to push it or demo to destroy it. You flipped your tank and you don't have a bobcat to flip it back. In these cases, you would need to pray that somebody capable took the slot and can land you helping kaboom so your asset can at least respawn, or hope that clearing script will eventually delete it. To give and EOD more use you need to create a purpose for them to be used for their unique feature. In my opinion, that feature is not placing explosives bud disarming them. Side missions where you need to disarm antiship mines in harbours or straits protected by an enemy patrol boats, or ambushing an ambush and clearing up IEDs after that, or defusing huge IED in the city which would detonate 10 minutes after players alerts enemy in the area (or more simple trigger that activates the bomb after players enter set radius around the objective). I will try to make these examples in EDEN and share them later. @Noah_Hero The thing with increasing health is that GBU has more oomph than a satchel, so to reduce UAV effectivity by increasing RT HP (or limiting incoming damage by certain %) would force EOD to pack more satchels, which might, in turn, impact his combat effectivity (satchels are HEAVY).
  7. @Stanhope You are not supposed to know. You can care about their opinion if they annouce it. If not do what you deem the best for overall effort.
  8. @Stanhope I cant agree with you. You say that if passangers cant be bothered to tell/type you their destination then you will not provide transport for them and will just sit on the pad untill somebody asks you to go somewhere? That you have problems to get people into your helicopter when you are landed on the pad with turbines off? If you meet resistence...maybe you are swiming against the flow. I get it that all that you say is common sense and courtesy but in some games such things can only get you mad. What if some of the players cant understand your language. PS: You compared your service to a cab driver, but what if players are expecting us to be more like bus, metro or train. @Eagle-Eye How will you go about changing peoples mentality? You need rules and game design to support that. Not a topic on a forum which only regulars and people interested in community visit.
  9. I always ask my passangers where they want to go. If I dont get a response then I announce my intentions. Most of the times they will agree on my plan of ingress. If somebody wants to be droped elsewhere then I ask them to stay in the heli during first landing. I shut my engines if I land as a second helicopter on the pads. This way If your engine is down people will board active helicopter first and when it leaves I will spool up. Most public players consider you inactive or AFK if you have engines switched off. Never had much troubles or missunderstandings with my aproach. Some of the actions I have read above feels wrong to me. Good pilots should understand that they are supposed to support players on the server and provide SAFE transport.

    Day/night

It is actually quite easy to beat AI in the night. Use suppresed weapon and pay attention to your surroundings. AI is seriously limited by darkness. Adapt to the conditions maybe.
  11. Elite is really pretty game. I just bought it a week ago.
  12. Apparently, the fighter pilot helmet has integrated full-screen night vision same as CSAT special purpose helmet. To my eyes it seems to be less grainy than standard NVG. Very handy for night time flying with helicopters. Even with so much time spent with Arma I can still find something new that surprises me. I only wonder which patch implemented it :-D
  13. Also if you ever pick up ASP-1 KIR take DMS optic. It is the only one that can be ranged down to 100m which is very helpful with this special rifle. It will take you some time to get used to but then it is amazing on any rifle. Plus it has stadiametric rangefinder! But every weapon sight in the game has it uses and while I do have my favourite (MRCO) I don't dislike any sight in the game. Every sight has it uses. Even NVS @Gamerbug: Agree with AMS. It is most universal optic in the game. Very clear picture and great backup sights. No brainer for a marksman with DLC. Without DLC I would pick MOS or DMS depending on the AO and squad needs. @Lucas Collision Lights: The guide you linked contains some errors. - ACO and Mk17 Holo have same levels of magnification. You can "zoom in" on both of them. The only difference is that ACO "magnification" is not listed in mouse over tip in inventory. - Actual magnifications of weapon sights are calculated from FOV in Arma. They are different from what is displayed on mouse over in inventory. Don't ask me why
  14. MRCO collimator optic small profile somewhat clear picture

    Transport Fever

I am curently suffering from self inflicted sleep deprivation on Abu Ghraib level. This game is Evil!
  16. @Chavez Menendez You find chalange boring? What is your suggestion then?
  17. @TheScar No offence taken. I am sorry that I missed the point of your post. I might got lost in it. Could you give me a hint what was it about then? Please (-: PS: Throught PM if it is your preference.
  18. @Jason. It happened before I@A3 and I can confirm that it is not only I@A that suffers from it. You know the drill, Jason. Find Admin or get mission restarted. If there are only a few players online you can do it by chat command. @TheScar So you got pissed about bad weather and some steel rain on you? I am pissed about a bad weather if my feeble body is exposed to it but not when I am sitting in my chair sipping on a cup of hot spiced wine playing a video game (-:. If the bad weather is bothering you can try to ask Zeus/Admin or switch server. I think they will be happy to help as most of the public crowd hates these conditions and it is generally good for donations to have a smoothly running server. I know you prefer to run solo but what you describe is much more manageable if you team up. Shared misery is more bearable for me in real life and in a game too. BTW: 3000h on I@A only? Arma offers a really wide variety of game modes. Sometimes it is good to hit the server browser again and find more missions to explore to get a wider picture. Ahoj
  19. Bitterly amused Simple config change in titan ammo properties would make it less "magical". I am sometimes saddened by these bugs that have been reported to BIS ages ago but are still not resolved even after targeting revamp. Would love to see a proper boost and glide flight modes of missiles but just making them turn properly would be enough.
  20. @radek I know how fuel behaves . But please don't mix game mechanics and real life behaviour as it might become quite difficult to distinguish it in a discussion. Arma 3 fuel tanks do not give any protection and maybe they are just simply part of hull hp. Basically what I meant is that if you want to know how to effectively kill an MBT in a mod you need to find specifications of the vehicle and internal layout. When you obtain this info you can then test it in the arsenal.
  21. @kman Vanila ARMA have weak spots on MBTs. Slammer passenger hatch and Varsuk sides of ammo rack on the turret are one of those. Not sure about Kuma. That beast can take even Scalpel ATGM missile and live...turret ring maybe? Also front, side and rear armor have different config values. You can also kill crew inside Marshall by shooting at the side of a turret with high caliber ammo (12,7 apfsds preferably). For more details on how damage and armour is handled by arma 3 you can refer to Tank config guidelines And if you really want to be smart as a fox read this: Arma 3 Damage Description Now you can do a research and look for engine placement, ammo storage, fuel tanks on vehicles you want to kill and hope that a mod defined their location and RHA values correctly
  22. @Ryko: I don't understand how will that solve his problem. @KevinJoy: I&A3 mission uses CH view distance script . The script remembers your last setting for a given server (it saves it with a mission file). You can change settings at main base at arsenal guys. Scroll down and open view distance script dialog and change your settings to whatever suits you. You probably set it to 0 by accident or somebody in your house is trolling you
