    Hi guys,

David said to introduce myself here; Hi guys!
I'm Volkert, 31 years of age from Amsterdam and I'm an Arma fan since about 6 months (mostly console before that).

I have about 5 friends who I play with, we generally play Exile, Battle Royale and sometimes king of the Hill.
We also really enjoy playing a squad based scenario against AI.

I would love to make a squad with my friends and and take part in a properly organized large scale battle against real players or AI.
What would be the best way to get started with that in terms of finding a larger team and such?

Hope to see you on the battlefield!

    Cheers, Volkert

Tbh, why don't we all just hold our horses for a minute and let people submit their mod suggestions?

I know for a fact that Giddy originally wanted to AVOID using ACE, and wasn't too fond of ACRE either. Somehow this whole thing turned into "Hey, lets use all the stuff that Giddy didn't want!", and I have no idea how the bloody hell that happened.

So just, suggest some mods, try to avoid shooting down any suggestions, and eventually make a poll so we can all find out what people actually want; what there might be a market for, as it were.

    Please?

    Alright, lets do this!

First of all, I am seeing a lot of words being thrown around about not actually referring to the topic. Please refrain from that.

Secondly, currently it seems that both ACRE and TFAR are suffering from the new Eden update and do tend to bug out. Plus, they are a bit complicated for any new Arma player. As many people suggested, use in-game VON, it seems to be working fine (beside Side/Global/Command channel), but they can be bypassed by either TS or typing in game. They can be added at a later point, when their perfomance will be stable.
EDIT: has anyone tried to set up whispers between the channels, not certain clients?

If you are looking for mod suggestions, I would strongly suggest to check when was the last mod updated, in the last couple of months should be okey, any further back, the mod might not work anymore. Start with simple stuff, small-sized mods and then build up. The modpack should be a step between EU1/EU2 and EU3, please keep that in mind.

    Slight offtopic:
Staff didn`t want to enter the conversation because we wanted to hear EVERYONEs opinion, before we would start participate. But with your "hatefull" discussion between EU1/EU2 players and EU3 players, you made use intervene before planned. Both groups should consider eachothers opinion and make the most of it.

T'was a cold Easter morning, so I stayed in bed a little longer  . I went over to the lovely city of Leeds and visited the Royal Armoury Museum. If you're interested in all things guns, swords, pointy things, sharp things and shiny things then this is the place for you!
If you ever plan to visit car parking is not a problem and there's even some nice restaurants opening up to facilitate your belly.

Entry is free, unless your a tax paying British citizen then congratulations you've already paid!
So from walking in you're immediately greeted with an MG42! it's a kids play thing where you insert a quid into the slot and get to pew pew the bad guys. Looking up is impressive as you waft over to the reception desk you'll see a rather nice statue I was stupid enough NOT to take a picture of. Now me and my family were tipped off that there would be some jousting on display and after enquiring we had exchanged around a fiver each to see the three o'clock event. Book early to avoid disappointment and i should point out that I'm told jousting only really occurs around the Easter holidays. Who knew they had a world championship for hitting each other with lances on horseback?

Oh they also have actors pretending to be statues, here's a picture of a dude confusing the fuck out of the actor who probably thought we were in the same group.

First section! which also happens to be the shiny section.

above: Yes that's right, a moustache on a helmet, Italian designed but i can't remember much else on that one

below: Henry the 8th must've been a giraffe, his battle suit of armour stands really tall and now looking back at the picture, it's probably trickery, unless he really was a giraffe!

above: Apparently crotchless pants were a thing back in the day too. I don't have anything useful to say on this armour but I think it used to be a shiny blue, this pearlescent colouring was achieved by dangerously messing around with mercury while the armour was made.

below: Pointy things and horses making a great impact on the room. A rather impressive sight in person!

above: following on from the blue detailing of armour, here's the detail in somebody's knee plating, nothing is scarier than knee's with teeth!

below: again to follow on from the previous detailing pictures, this last one really shows that an armour craftsman is also an artist. When you go to the armoury, have a read into the manufacturing process of each type of technique employed to reach a certain look, fascinating!

above and below: a siege tower I'm sure that some of you interested in this era will already have seen, however for the un-initiated, this thing moves towards a wall, perhaps of a city or a castle. When it gets to the wall, the chaps inside release the ramp, climb the ladders and seek to destroy the defenders!

Stay tuned for videos of Jousting, a "hurdy gurdy" in action, guns! and oriental armour!

    here's a preview

Actually I should be finished with one tomorrow already. Where should I send it to? Should I just talk to you guys on TS?
I am actually gonna try to do this tomorrow, as I have found a way to give AI waypoints, which should make them able to follow a predesignated path. Still, it will need testing, and a lot of it, but I will stil try to do it Maybe it works, who knows? ^^

Given the earlier posts regarding inclusion of ALL the community, I don't think this is an appropriate attitude.

---Since when is asking people to be constructive and remain on-topic, not an appropriate attitude?---

I support the idea of a game night with less mods to see how well subscribed such a proposal is, but I feel there is a lot of misinformation (or lack of information) on a few things including how EU#3 actually works (if you haven't played on it then it would be difficult to know), and also how some of the mods impact the game, e.g. ACRE. A game night might help, or perhaps those making or supporting the proposal could do some research and make some informed contributions (e.g. like Gripe has) - this would go a long way to solidifying the proposal and building up more support.

    ---This is why I have been trying to ask people to remain on topic and offer advice/feedback and not just say ;
"it's a bad idea" or "If you want mods play EU3"....
I had a good conversation with some guys a short time ago, who offered some good advice and alternatives to some mods, and have thanked them for their input.
And yet you still act as though I am some kind of villain here.---

I will not be replying to you in this thread any further as you seem to be misunderstanding my intentions, and no amount of me explaining myself seems to change your opinion on that.

    It's never WITHOUT consequences Spear.

One of us will always report the issues to Admin, and even if it takes a little time, they will eventually be dealt with.

The idea was to have a little more Admin presence on the server.
But like Daivd has said, they don't want to limit their staff in such a way.

I'm sure in time they will find someone to help them fill in some of the time gaps, but until then, we just have to remain patient and be sure to report those persons causing issues.

How to call an evac? Like we do on EU2, mark an evac site and call vortex in side chat. I understand where you're coming from, but you're also thinking of a mission from the perspective of "insertion, maneouver, action, exfil" as a whole coordinated force, where as we would be more concerned with squad level communication where the exfil part is an afterthought. We could also do away with the terrain occlusion in ACRE with the http://acre.idi-systems.com/api/api_general.html#acre_api_fnc_setLossModelScale API, leave us with the soundscape immersion but ditching the terrain occlusion realism/hassle. Meaning no need for the LR radio.

Parabolic, absolutely agree with you. We are not, repeat *not* trying to take anything away from EU3! I cannot emphasize this enough. Forgive my my bluntness battlebuddies, i'm trying to cut through the fog of war here and get the thread back to where it should be. Yes, we are looking for lite modded I&A, although other missions would not hurt if they could be put in. A lot of guys have expressed willingness to try to put together missions, although i cannot say how they wold be implemented. That is a bit beyond my skills as a scripter. I believe John would also be willing to regularly slaughter the lot of us in Zeus.

I think as we have to start somewhere, that running I&A would be a perfect testbench. Variations on the theme can always be added later.

    > Obey the orders of your superiors. (Which are, in 99% of cases, perfectly reasonable.)

The above is the thing that (note, in *my* opinion) makes eu3 something i would be able to tolerate in only fairly small doses. Didn't like arbitrary ranks when i was in the military, still don't like them. Reasonable or not. Probably the above is also the reason why the references to milsim abound in this thread.

The other rules are perfectly fine, and as you say, common sense.

This is why this thread was posted, to sound out the playerbase and see to the feasibility of such a middle ground server, where the hierarchical rank structure doesn't exist but which offers the expanded possibilities of some mods to spice up the gameplay. That, and the enforcement of TS and a mic is pretty much what we are after.

A month ago when I played on EU2. I've experienced that the Defend AO's was active.
Tho there of course were some things that could be better.

It was super fun and different.!

    So my question is:
Why is the defend AO always disabled? Is it still under "Construction" ?
