Side Mission Rewards.

Lately on EU1, it has came to me that the side mission rewards are quite biased towards pilots.

 

after hours and hours of playing, most side rewards are pilot based, whereas you won't see that much ground vehicles compared to air vehicles.

 

for example:

 

Most Side Rewards consist of: Hellcats, Orca's, Taru's, Blackfoots, etc. 

Whereas you will see less: Slammers, Kuma's, T-100's, and other APC Vehicles.

 

I feel this is a problem because they are quite biased and only 5 pilots can use these rewards whereas the other 55 players can't.

 

My second suggestion is getting rid of some of the rewards, like the mobile mortar truck, which is fairly useless, and also things like the Mora and the Marshall that already spawn by deafult, and possibly replacing them with things like a Marid and a BTR - Kamysh and a Tigris.

 

So Overall, My suggestion is that maybe the reward system could be tweaked a bit so it is more focused towards the ground troops more than the pilots on the server.

hmmmm, have they changed the side reward list again since we first requested to change it?

 

If not, then it might just be a luck thing, I myself have no idea  if they use a sort of random selector to reveal what the side reward would be after you complete a side mission, but if that is the case, it may just be you are a very unlucky man.  :P

 

I would Imagine that getting a kuma would be very rare over getting a mora, and the same applies to air vehicles as well. But this is just speculation as I have no idea how the side reward system works.

hmm it's basically the complete opposite for me when i play, i agree that the mora and gorgons are really common but i basically never see any helis spawning. have only seen like 2-3 helis as rewards the past few days. have they changes something or am i experiencing a random anomaly in which basically no helis spawn

 

(I am first and foremost a pilot so i just feel unlucky that i basically nerver se a heli spawning :P)

I think the vehicles I have noticed spawning most regularly have been the Offroad (Repair) and the Pawnee...
The last time I saw a Kuma from rewards we immediately lost it due to a griefer in the Base. That was around a week ago.

But Side Missions still don't get enough attention, unless they are PRIORITY TARGET missions.

Do these have seperate vehicle pools for rewards or not?

If they do, I think the Priority Target Missions should have a smaller pool of vehicles, with more emphasis on the 'better' quality ones.
Like doing Priority Target Missions and being given something like an Offroad (Repair) should definitely NEVER happen.

These Missions are more challenging, and require an immediate response to prevent them from REALLY disrupting the flow of the game, and so the rewards should reflect that.

(They may already do that, but if not, it's a thing that maybe should happen)

Priority Target missions never give rewards, only the normal Side Missions.

Although it is an interesting idea that different missions could give different rewards (still with some randomness ofc).

 

 

Rewards like the Offroad (repair) shouldn't be awarded for ANY missions, as it's useless, same goes for rewarding us with vehicles that already spawn at base.

For example, if it was a hard side, (Intel!) It should offer a greater reward than an easier side mission, this way it give players something to work for and not just intentionally fail the side mission.

Mostly some comon sense and a bit of plan beforehead should do the trick :P

 

Got your point,none of the less side missions "should" be randomized in rewards,there just has to be a check/script that doesnt award a AIR reward after a AIR reward after a AIR reward ...

Btw,we can all agree that Mora or Slammers should not be in the list in the first place,as they spawn already comonly in stash.

I kinda disagree on the blasphemic critic of the Offroad Repair - clearly you never thougt of vehicle convoys/tank columns/FOB trucks that might make use of such a tool !

Unfortunately there are many other people on EU1/2 and they play very differently to you. I'm sure you would agree that Secure Intel is the most commonly failed mission when done by plebs. 

As for the Offroad Repair - clearly you haven't seen the two very capable repair vehicles that already respawn at base, not to mention how much easier it would be to just have a repair spec in the convoy

Then you finish off with a mediocre and irrelevant gif, disappointing post Scar...

Yes,there s a fair truth in this statement,but the issue cannot be solved by changing the side rewards

Talkin about the trucks that are 60% of times parked anywhere on base,35% damaged @ base or 5% of times end idling on any of the main roads?

Or the Repair Specs that give a fkk when u need one 8km away from base/AO when CSAT rocks jumped your car and backstab you with a plank?

The Offroad Repair offers a alternative,faster and simpler way to add to the uptime of vehicles/choppers/etc.

And this is what side rewards are about,a alternative addition to existing equipment - can be used,doesnt have to be used.

 

 

 

Then you finish off with a mediocre and irrelevant gif, disappointing post Scar...

I'd say the repair truck can be found at (or very close to) it's spawn point 90% of the time. If not then a (nice  :ph34r:) admin/zeus can respawn it for you.

If repair specs don't care then what makes you think someone would want to drive 8km for you? Unfortunately you need need a nice person to drive that vehicle,  unless we could get Repair UAVs.... I quite like the idea of being repaired by a swarm of Darters  :D

 

Like xSniper1982 said, it's squishy. If the repair vehicle loses a wheel, and needs repairs itself, who you gonna call? GhostBusters!

 

We have a repair truck, bobcat, (Huron liftable) repair crates, and some confused repair specialists. imo that's more than enough options.

Cause variety matters (to some) ...

Usual topic point was the countless AIR rewards resulting by side rewards and finding a suitable solution balancing it equally usefull ...

a other way is if you get a hellcat orca..from side that a ghosthawk get change with it for the rest of the server time (max 2 birds) same if you get a kuma or t100 then the slammer should be changed ....what i mean is if you get one of them the script should say respawn the hellcat not more the ghosthawk .

so you cant slap 2 flys with one clap not to much side rewards that dumping around on the map more server preformance

also they should be a script that only 2 darters can be active see it toooo many times a uav operator got a fleet of uav drones around the map

 

Then we dont need 2 ghost a mohawk a huron a hummingbird a buzz and then all the reward helis we only got 5 pilot slots

 

i wont also that the hunter hmg should be changed to a unarmed one(all of them) how many times are people going to  a side mission and snipe the Csat guys from more then 1km drive fast to other posi and do the same they should be use the static stuff(if they really need a 50hmg) we got so much of them otherwise are the side to easy

 

Also :D lock longrange scopes for longrange guns lock default vanila mxm mk18 rahim to the marksman slots and the 800-900m lmg rain will be end quick and never ever see a medic in a gilly with a mk18 :D

I really don't get the idea behind removing the Armed Hunters..

They are there for protection..

They aren't usually used aggressively, but for defending Convoys or laying down support fire so that ground forces can advance.

If you remove the Armed Hunters then more people will take the Slammer, Panther, Mora...

And then Every Mission will be ull of Tanks instead of Soldiers.

The Ground Forces NEED something with a good speed, that can defend itself against other light armed vehicles,

and against Aircraft, whilst on the way to the Missions, or back.

I don't see what's so bad about having some Darters spread out across the map. It's very useful as it means that wherever an AO (or any other mission) spawns in, you will already have a Darter nearby (they move very slowly).

100% agree with this, the amount of wannabe snipers is painful. The longest range scope standard classes should have is the RCO, but even that is pushing it imo ;)

I kinda agree with this, but like xSniper1982 said, this will only make people use heavier vehicles and do the exact same thing, so removing them won't really change much. I think the HMG just needs a little nerfing (if possible), e.g. remove it's thermal vision modes/give it less ammo etc.

I won't say anymore here as I know someone else will have plenty to say :D

Aco for normal infantry rco,mcro..for the marksman ams..and other lone range scopes for sniper ...everybody how plays arma 2 nows that was a huge Sniperepidemic

Hills full of Player....no movement......only Sniper Lz ....

 

If you use darters far up to the other side of the map you have to know that the server will be slower and slower also you only need one in the squad for close recon (so i use it)the  greyhawk for marking Targets(ctrg+t to lock on) and the 2nd greyhawk for bombing you can switch the greyhawk if you need all 4 bombs (but a 2nd darter in the stomper the huron can lift it)

 

The Unarmed are well protected and if you need some firepower there 2 armed Pickups the 50ty on it are very powerfull, you can shoot the enemy infantry on 600m with only one small burst, supressing ist the magic word very helpful and if there spawn a Pickup GmG from a side Mission So i have to say you only need 4 Shoots for a Kaiman

 

The Mora and Slammer are Slow as F*** also if we got not 45 marksman on the server the enemy anti tank can take care of a rushing  Mora or Slammer ;P

After having to edulge build 2.86M which spawned twin rewards (2x Taru - 2xORCA - 2x xxx) we now end up with 2.86N which spawned endless air rewards only ...

Today i faced 7 air rewards out of 8 side missions

Seriously,not that we ve been there before - but you dont seem to take notice of this alot (you sure did) and take it on a low priority - but whats wrong with setting it up one time where it worked for 92% of users and keeping this edit of rewards and just copypaste it to the next version as long as it works?

 

Not like due to the total non-existance of enemy air on 90% of map (already posted this one) and the sad spread of rewards there s a total loss of drive (for me) to get my kicks and enjoyment out of my playtime.

 

And oh yea,did i mention we cut loose the respawn timer on choppers (except the MH9) but armor and light armor vehicles kept their 10min respawn timer?

i kinda implied that the reward script wasnt the best in 2.86M too :P

And yea,i dont believe in coincidence really - by the time i clock into the server/mission i can safely say that the rewards seem to be biased towards the 8% of slots that can make use of those assets,while in the past 2 months we got a way higher rate of players enjoying the use of armored support vehicles (pure generalisation).

 

Not putting your efforts in coding/scripting in question at all,but (to me) the mission feels like it turned 180 degree in difficulty by the past 3 versions - and this isnt necessarily a good thing (to me).
