Please do not use this thread to request new Maps, MODs or Features! There is a new area being worked on specifically for that, so hang on for a little bit longer please!
However, still use this thread to discuss any changes that have been made in version 48, including new MODs, Maps and Features that have already been added or removed i this update.

With specific regard to the Acre 2.2 update, issues resulting from the use of named channels should now all be fixed. This means that channels can be named for the radios, and is something mission makers can now make use of for gamenights. In addition there should be significantly less issues and instability with Acre, please let us know if this is what you are experiencing yourselves in game.
To echo what Ryko has said above, with the problems AhoyWorld has faced of late development and work hasn't stopped with regard to Gauntlet. We have been busy testing new features throughout. These are just highlights of what you can expect to see in version 48, so keep your eyes peeled for the update coming soon!

Co-Pilots not correctly classified as engineers. Worth checking other maps as well.

Clafghan is broken. DO NOT USE THIS MAP. If it rotates onto this map please contact a moderator.

Looks like a very good map, very interesting looking areas in there. Especially liked the look of the valleys, they'd be good fun to fly through.

Logging that the cleanup script on Fallujah may be glitching out, its not cleaning up some things immediately, rather taking a bit of time to clean some things up. I don't know if its a persistent issue I've just been alerted to it and checked it out with some vehicles persistent from previous AO. Also Operation Purple Knife on Fallujah has no special notes alerting to a mortar presence, however, there is a mortar present in the AO.

Glitches with the hesco bunkers, and opfors ability to sponge more than idek what.
Was good fun when you weren't raging to heck about it

Baring in mind Amentes is one of the best pilots in the community, and myself being pretty darn good if I do say so myself, one does not simply set up for a crash landing with no main rotor. It is the job of a 'good' pilot to not expose the air-frame to that degree of risk, or to do so in a controlled manner allowing for recoverability. Yes you can land with no main, however it is one in a million. Please if you know of a way of always landing with a main rotor failure, you may be a better pilot than Dyslexci!
Apologies for off topic.

+1 from me, the principle behind it is bang on in my opinion, and while not needed, it adds a degree of immersion and forward thinking when preparing your gear prior to an AO. Obviously it needs to be tested before any addition can be made to the server.

Awesome I didn't know that Ryko, we'll take that into account and probably just decide before we kick things off on Saturday. I appreciate the heads up, thanks!

Date Adjustment: Moved to Saturday 18/07/16. Same Time. Please inform others.
My apologies for this, it was my bad.

Really quick announcement that tomorrow, Friday [18/07/16] from 5PM local UK time (Click here for conversion to your local time) there will be normal gauntlet but with myself online as a Zeus operator. There will be sub objectives alongside normal gauntlet missions. No special sign up, no special mod requirements, just the normal EU3 repo stuff. Have fun, work together, and try some slots you maybe haven't used before. This is something I am hoping to do more regularly depending on feedback from it.

That or the countless hilarious moments flying as vortex
Or a certain pilot managing this:

Right this post it going to be blunt, pretty darn long and more than likely won’t make me any friends. And I really don’t care. There are issues, serious issues within the eu3 community at the moment, some have been there a while, some have only just started. However, I think the severity of them has become evident throughout recent threads within the forum. I will put this at the start; if any posts in reply to this turn into the bitching plain to see in other threads or are inflammatory, then I will ask for them to be moderated, and either toned down to the useful and constructive bits or outright removed. I am making this thread attempting to address some of these issues in a constructive discussion, with a possible solution, at least a temporary one to get the community back on track. Solution is in the last paragraph, skip to it if you really must, most things before that s outlining current issues as I see them.
I won’t lie EU3 in game and the community of players it supports have become more toxic than Rainbow Six Siege when you play with Josh of late. People are plenty able to voice their opinions out of channel to friends at the moment, but are not willing to put them plainly on the forum or in a place where the issues they see can be addressed. As someone that talks to a lot of folks that play on server there is a growing contempt for some decisions made on the direction of development of gauntlet. I am not going to go through them all, however, to name a specific issue is the changing of squad composition and secondary change to require a CMD element at all times. Now don’t for 2 seconds think this is going to turn into a rant about that, because it isn’t. I’ll be honest I don’t agree with these changes, yet I do understand the reasoning for them. This change has caused some pretty serious rifts and divisions within the community, and I understand there will always be people who don’t get on, the current state of division is ridiculously bad. It is toxic. We need to pull people together, not force them apart based on a single issue, and work it out, rather than bitch at each other because of it. I get that it arouses strong emotions within people but the way it has been discussed hasn’t exactly been constructive.
In general, there is a lot more pissing around – for lack of a better way to put it, on server. Now we aren’t milsim, and I hope we never become that, but there is a degree of responsibility held by all players who want to play on the server because of its more informal nature. That responsibility as outright ignored by some members, while others accept it and use it. This isn’t something the mod team should have to be dealing with. If you are going to play on the server, enjoy it, and enable others enjoyment, you need to have a mind-set of community, rather than I this or I that. This was something instilled in me when I first came on the server many moons ago, but it’s not exactly the case anymore. We need to get back to that, encourage people to accept the values of EU3 and not take it for granted. It’s almost like that same principles as clubs IRL, they do much more for building and growing an individual than just teaching them or playing football for example.
There are other issues but I don’t have time to type them at the moment, battery on my laptop is running low and I’m currently on a train. But I want this to post as soon as I can so I’ll hopefully get back to it later when I get home.
In summary with all of these issues, EU3 has changed dramatically from how it was first envisaged, all things need to adapt and change over time, however my personal opinion is that the server has lost its way a little, strayed from the principles it was founded on. That isn’t a personal dig at the people running EU3, so don’t take it as one. I think to get back to the community of supporting and enjoyable gameplay, with a lot less drama than we have now, we need to seriously look at the direction of the server. AhoyWorld isn’t a democracy, that isn’t a bad thing, but what is a bad thing, is not being a democracy, and not listening or consulting the community who play on, and ultimately support the servers. A possible solution that could work as a temporary measure to get things back on track and to get general and specific feelings heard is to utilise the field ambassadors and EU3 veterans. Before changing a core feature of the server or path of development its really easy to run such changed by both mods, as is done currently I believe, and these experienced members. Not being someone who enforces the rules, in my experience has meant that people tend to voice honest opinions more. It would be really simple to quickly gauge honest community reaction to things by talking with FAs and vets, and have the same effect as holding one of our pretty rare community meetings. As a further idea for moving forward, use these FAs and vets as an oversight committee (in effect) for the creative direction of the servers. All creative processes, which maintaining and developing gauntlet has to be called, require the developer(s) to be grounded, perhaps using this oversight committee so to speak as a grounding wouldn’t be that bad of a thing, as they know general feelings within the community and can provide genuine feedback very, very quickly. And I think that it is important we don’t use the mod team as this committee, but include say 2 mods within it.
To those who are the creative developers on EU3 this post isn’t solely directed at you, but I feel it is a good place to start in turning the community around for the better. Do not take it as me having a moan at you, I’m not.
Sorry for the length of the post but the problems we are seeing need to be addressed and fixed. And done pretty soon too. We cannot continue as a community with things how they are, because there won’t be a community pretty soon, there will be a bunch of salty folk bitching at each other at every opportunity. Surely that isn't what we want.

Very much agreeing with Amentes here, when it comes to ASL's load it is considerably higher on an average night acting as the commander of all forces. However I don't think that this is something needing a change, what I think it needs is to have FTL's stepping up to the mark. I'm guilty of before now asking someone who isn't a team lead, to team lead. I know when I go into a SL role, I need to have 2 people able to drive their teams forward on their own with me just giving a basic plan. It's important people are able to set their own tempo, however I have no issues dragging them forward - which has to happen sometimes, often I find new people to the server are not used to this style of leadership and struggle not being babysat, for lack of a better word. (Side note: micromanaging SL's definitely ain't the way to make this better though, in most instances a SL who can devolve responsibility is always going to be more effective than one that doesn't.)
I think consolidating may be a good thing, and it may be a bad thing, it is very dependant on situations and the people in that situation, and there won't be a clear cut this is better or this is worse.

Simple one, the night optics offered by this mod are far superior to anything we have available at the moment. Offers a much wider field of view, something that as a pilot flying at night is very useful.
There is the added benefit they look pretty awesome but they primarily serve a proper function. Also it's only 15mb so doesn't exactly add loads to the repo.

I'd just like to note that on a few maps there has been a move to UH-1Y's for the majority of transport via air. There's a slight problem that a whole squad cannot fit into one, so alpha for example requires 2 runs to insert them. This isn't something largely problematic, however can be annoying sometimes. Also single seater CAS options, namely the light or medium variant littlebirds, I feel that they add a dynamic of reasonable support, via a single pilot rather than needing a crew. I won't lie I'm not a fan of just having jets for single seat support, and the littlebirds were rather sporty at times to fly, fun for pilots. This might be me just being picky but it's how I'm feeling about the changes. Otherwise I am liking the way things are heading.

Like this a lot, gonna be a load of fun. Idea though, maybe change the mutator settings for some of the games? Like you could have classic for the first game, ice hockey for the second and basketball for the third.

That F-16 was off the chain, it truly was a joy to play with. I would whole heartedly recommend this to be tested out by the powers at be. It has the power to be immensely OP, but then all jets in arma do. However, it has the capability to be very very surgical, especially with the small diameter bombs. The cannon does lag a wee bit, but tbh if you ever need to use that thing you are doing something wrong. @Amentes couldn't have said it better, that thing handles like an absolute dream

Quite honestly, to me, the reason why the rules appear to be getting enforced more, is because there are a lot of new players around. The problem with that, is that there are more people not following the rules, intentionally or otherwise. That means that some people - myself included - have gotten pretty tired of the amount of pissing around. Its stupid the amount of messing around that goes on sometimes. So that's meant that mods are having to enforce them more.
As Josh said Now it is time to clean up and make sure that certain people do.
EU3 has been around for ages, and it still will be around for ages. The majority of people, as you can see from above posts, are happy with the rules, and the way they are enforced. It says it when you join the server, EU3 is your place for serious game play. EU1 is always busy so I'd recommend 2 to enjoy some casual arma.
If you think this is milsimming, go join a unit, then you might have a clue what that's like.

Considering the move to CUP I think we should maybe try experimenting with what works best now. I would be entirely down for 2 seater planes, but even with single seaters we have now I think they are totally fine as long as they are used sensibly and correctly. So not used at will by the pilots in the air, but rather by express permission of the ground commander. To me it doesn't matter if it's entirely OP because targets cannot (according to the rules, and so should not) be engaged without the express permission of command or the lead element at that time. To me it's about having this ability to be totally overwhelming, but using it in moderation, and only utilising it's full potential when absolutely needed. For me a perfect example is when I'm commanding I'll inform CAS that if 'Eagle' is used on JTAC net then that is a call for emergency CAS, and that you don't need express permission for targets at that time, because frankly we are in the shit on the ground and need help.
On a second note I agree with amentes above entirely, sometimes there is no other option.

Agreeing with Sheep, josh and sozio here, because I do exactly what sheep is talking about, half the time I only go on a game when there's already people playing it. Personally I don't think that the original screen grab shows people having individual groups excluding others, however if that became the situation then I would 100% agree with raz's stand. I honestly think removing the create a channel feature would be a big mistake.
How to: MOD and Map Requests
in Mod And Map Requests
Posted
This sub-forum of AWE is to be used specifically for requesting new modifications (MODs) or Maps. Please do not post them into the general area, as they will either be moved into here, or removed. The aim of putting them all in one place is so that it is easier for you, and us, to see what has been requested, and where in the process of discussing it we are with them.
There are going to be some very simple rules to follow when making a request.
1. Name the MOD or MAP
2. Describe what it does, or how you see it working
3. Provide a Steam-link or Bi-Thread to the request (if available or applicable)
4. Concisely tell us why you think it will improve the server, or player experience, by implementing it
These are the 4 categories you need to cover when posting a request.
After initially posting a request form it will be looked over by one of us in the steering committee, and if we feel it is worthy of community wide discussion, it will be approved for public consultation. Following this your request will have a 2 week period to be responded to by the community. This may mean that requests are either denied, or approved, without community discussion.
Depending on what is said by the community, moderators and steering committee, a decision will be made as to whether or not this request will be fulfilled.
When responding to a request during the 2 week phase, please keep posts concise, on topic with a clear yes, no or maybe at the end of it. OR, you can add reputation to the original request. Staff can reply at any time during the process.
Please fill out this form to submit a mod/map request:
https://forums.ahoyworld.net/forms/16-mod-map-request-form/
We reserve the right to change this process without notice, and to deny requests, with reason, as appropriate.
