  1. The only thing i'll add is that I HATE that negative rep was taken away. I understand WHY it was and if that ever happens again simple administrative action can be taken (warning points system or just a simple chit chat) but there have been MULTIPLE TIMES where I've seen threads DERAILED because of some things said, and the negative rep system can be used as an easy deterrent to it. If someone's being a jerk, multiple people can call them out on it by negating their rep and thus they'll most likely stop (since rep is the new ahoycoin standard...) What do you guys think?
  2. This won't be the only offshore platform operation I do, don't you worry! The operation after this one will be the bridge...ohh god the bridge...
  3. Closing thread because there are other threads that are for upcoming events that need to start being promoted: if you have more feedback please post it in Baywatch so I can balance it accordingly! @Ezlann added the video link in my description ^^ Also, I would like to address something here with some of the feedback concerning the guard towers on the high ground because I honestly think this is a little unfair to me. While I do agree that the towers gave a significant advantage for CSAT being able to spot NATO, NATO DID KNOW ABOUT THEM via the picture of the AO I put on the forums. The whole point of them was for you to snipe a static guard or two, or camp it out and recon it well from the tree lines if a CSAT member was present, then move on. I was very confused when Post's recon team crossed out into the road under that guard tower when not everyone was properly set up. Other than that, next time i'm utilizing Cebi's changes: turning off 3rd person mode, the extended map content (so you cant cheat by finding enemy units in the map) and the killed by indications (though not the scoreboard, if you really want to know if someone killed you by all means go through the trouble but I would want to leave in that feature for now) as well as better conditions for pilots and better ground rules set during briefings. I also think, for the sake of balance, that i'll take out supressors, but in addition i'll have to lower the default AI amount I place within the map because once its guns off the timer for the second phase will start ticking! Operation Baywatch has 8 slots left, if you're not in the sign up sheet, do so. Also, please read the first post... and look at the images. Sure i'm always making edits and will update the image but make it easier on yourself and look at what the AO is And finally, thank you to everyone who played Cross Comms, everyone who gave me feedback, and I hope that you all continue to come to my events. Operate Operationally Ladies and Gents!
  4. Here's what i'm thinking: a 2 part mission for the sake of experimentation. The first part is pure PvE where everyone works together, and the second part has the small CSAT team for testing. This is so I can know, as a Zeus, that I'm making good improvements for players' experiences in general, then players' experiences for the PvP section. If this sounds good i'll write something up tonight and have sig ups for it within 1-2 weeks. Although I do love vipers, I am agreeing with the majority of what I have read and taking them out, outfitting standard CSAT soldiers instead. If we get the player counts that Luetin ever gets (which would be both great and a pain in the ass to organize), then i'll bring them back for outfits. ALSO, I have uploaded the other two segments from the Cross comms mission, it's the briefing and the time between the mission being a go and first contact if you're interested.
  5. *keeps taking notes* Christ I should throw something together for the next week or 2 on top of what I'm already planning to do some further testing. What do you guys think? Something similar to this but testing a few other details for the sake of balance... *cough* maybe fog? XD
  6. This thread needs some support! COme on here and give it some cause this operation's going to kick butt!
  7. Like I said, there's always new things to learn: PvP is a VERY difficult thing to balance, and that Charlie foxtrot was a result of multiple issues that I'll try to have resolved in time for the next operation. In the future things need to be organized a little further: I did have people sign up for the UAV Darters but not use them, I should have been clear about the CSAT respawns but my fear was that the respawn would be camped (we couldn't get the respawn timer to work properly, had to improvise) I really hope to see you all for Baywatch, and I think i'm going to just make it standard PvE. Too many places where CSAT can easily camp, and I want this to be a fun experiment with just how epic offshore platforms can be. I've actually doubled the size of the thing (as I pray nothing breaks) and am increasing the amount of small platforms around it. Regardless, once again, I thank you all for the feedback! link to Baywatch:
  8. Hello RooDog, and welcome to the community
  9. https://youtu.be/tohsB83FFL0 (it might still be processing for a moment, but this had the majority of the action till the fruiting up started... See you all in Baywatch! and thanks to everyone that participated!
  10. Yes and the rest of the feedback has been compiled to make future operations better the main action part of the operation is being uploaded now, i'll post it here when it's ready!
  11. Thanks for your update Pie, I'm sorry to hear about this. I hope to see you for Operation Baywatch next week, and just in case it fills up in the sign up sheet, i'll reserve a slot for you I WILL BE SETTING UP THE TS ROOM AN HOUR BEFORE THE MISSION this is to make some final preparations to the server. Feel free to join the setup room in the meantime. CSAT need to be on 30 minutes prior to receive the server info to be able to get a feel for the AO (if they have not already). Server will be open to everyone else 15 minutes before, and hopefully we can start on time! I'll be making the NATO TS rooms as well.
  12. For this mission, no. However in future operations (like Baywatch) i'll ask you guys and have the server configured as such.
  13. none... 14. You asked, and I listened! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PRIORITY MESSAGE FROM THE TANOAN GOVERNMENT: NATO, we just got word that our offshore shipping platform for exporting our goods has just come under attack from unknown hostiles! We’re suspecting the local guerrillas had something to do with it, and if the rumors are true, CSAT black ops forces are backing them. We’ve provided some images about the platform and its location below. This needs to be taken care of ASAP, this platform is key to our economy and we’ve lost contact with the workers on the platform. If the bandits really wanted to cripple us, it’s possible they might try to demo the platform… NATO OBJECTIVES: 1. Secure the hostages 2. Disarm the explosive satchels around the main platform SECONDARY: a. Disarm AA points in secondary platforms for aerial reinsertion to be possible b. Find out CSAT's interest in the platform c. Eliminate CSAT's method of transportation ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hey Guys! It's time for an offshore platform, and it is by far the most ambitious zeus project I've done in a long time! I’ve been running a small PMC style campaign on Tanoa with some of the more seasoned ahoyworld members (but some of the missions are planned to be open to the public, don’t you worry!) and this mission is going to serve as a test for one of the major missions in the storyline (that will be open to the public in about 3-4 weeks after this mission finishes). What we’re testing here is offshore platforms: they’re a pain in the butt to make but it’s very rewarding to set it all up. I have not decided if there will be a CSAT team yet, but if I see 4+ fire teams set up I’ll definitely have to allow some CSAT players in order to even things out. Sign up sheet Closed BUT DROP INS ALLOWED More images will be provided on Saturday and Sunday. Operate operationally ladies and gents :3 And remember to bring your mini submarines and dive gear!
  15. You see that's what I've thought, but others (both players and even an admin) have told me otherwise...then again, a lot of people like to screw with me here >_>' Sorry for the confusion Zissou, but honestly, i'm just as confused as you at this point...
  16. Hello Smog! You're not the only one with this question! A lot of people always ask about zeus because, months ago, zeus was allowed for EVERYONE on EU 1 and 2. Unfortunately, this did not really work out that well. Zeus is a tool, and like all tools, they can be used for greatness: Spicing up AOs (Areas of Operation), making custom missions, etc. But tools can also be used for great harm: people spamming the lightening bolt, people spawning in a bunch of crap, people using the Zeus interface to see where enemy units are and cheat at the AOs. It was truly chaos during this time, and thus a lot of new players in EU 1 and 2 didn't stay for long, so the power of zeus has been restricted. Don't worry though, there's still hope! any administrators, core staff, or Spartans have Zeusing abilities. If you're an active player, you'd want to try to achieve the rank of Spartan in order to do public zeusing. You can get this through becoming an active and well respected member of the community (admins know you and only have positive things to say about you, no bans, respected and known by other seasoned members of ahoyworld). Trust is hard to build, especially over a medium where you're virtually anonymous (the internet), so it takes time. However, with the proper dedication and a good head on your shoulders, you can get to the rank of Spartan and be able to use Zeus on the servers. You can always also host an event with a private server where you can do public zeusing on it for members of ahoyworld, just drop a post about the event after talking with an administrator I hope this answered your question Smog, and welcome to the Ahoyworld forums as well!
  17. Its random but I picked which out of the teams would be CSAT long ago, and the sign up has proceeded with my expectations for it. Its random cause you don't know which squad is the (un?) lucky squad.
  18. Welcome to Ahoyworld The Off One! Feel free to check the forums from time to time for events, news, and the usual banter! See you in the field
  19. The glory of the sign up sheet: a small team would mean a thinner bridge with less defense but they'd fight more infantry based CSAT or hell even bandits. A team of 20+ infantry means CSAT decided they reeeaalllyyyy want the bridge, this heavily fortified bridge... Hence why I've always asked people to sign up, from forum posts to spreadsheets...
  20. I would sincerely ask that you sign up then. ( *cough if you chose the CSAT team i'd need to give you an early briefing cough*
  21. Hello GrievingGold, welcome to Ahoyworld! If you want to group up with people, i'd recommend coming on to the teamspeak server so you can link up with comrades in arms and maximize your communication effectiveness! See you in the field!
