  1. Did a few ops with Jester814 way back when, followed his videos ever since. A few months ago he did the merger with Luetin Zeusing, then I started watching Lt's videos, and now that my college semester is ending I thought I'd give this place ago, and I'm loving it for the most part! It's a great blend of both being casual in Arma or being Mill Sim in EU #3
  2. Welcome to the forums! See you on the field!
  3. I was just wondering, outside of setting up events through Ahoyworld, could someone other than a staff member utilize Zeus on EU 1 and 2? If so, how would they do that, and if not, is there a way for someone to receive such a privilege? I'm just curious as an old Zeus that wishes to both hone my skills and create some fun missions for the entire community to enjoy. Thanks for reading and any replies!
  4. I would at least hope you ask what's going on before you take any action. 9/10 times it will just be some idiot tking but that 1/10 is the people who are trying to defend themselves. This is exactly what I am talking about, though in your situation it seems alright. I would assume I'll just hope on TS and bug an admin for the quickest response. I'm not too great at taking screenshots of such incidents, my trigger finger is too fast, but if I see a streak like I did yesterday I'll be sure to make the proper documentation. Thanks for the clarifications everyone!
  5. This is a bit of a late post (sorry, i'm a little new to this community!) but I just wanted to implement my two Ahoycoins into this discussion based on my own experience making and playing Zeus missions for Arma ops in the past. Luetin, normally ambushes can be done in a multitude of ways, but your operations are a special circumstance based on the fact that you livestream them, so ambushes usually get ruined by stream snipers. I see that you've suggested literally dropping units in on squads, and I have something to add into that concept. A year ago I was addressed with a similar problem with a Zeus who wanted to stream the mission, but didn't want the suprises to be ruined. So we spent the day beforehand planning the operation as the game master and moderator and saved the entire operation via ARES's save system, which gave us an idea. Spend some time before you start the stream planning out your ambush, from loadout to positions, then save it, copy and paste the code in a notepad, then when the time is right, load the code into the game when you want the ambush occurs. This allows not only that suprise factor to happen, but if done at the correct time you will catch those pesky stream snipers off guard, and it will be extremely beleivable based on unit placement and loadout (ghili suits, behind bushes, etc.) and it just takes a good 4-16 units, depending on the amount of players that triggur the ambush to create a large enough obstacle for units to cross. I've had a Zeus operation of 56 players get spooked and freak out when I had a simple, well placed fireteam ambush the entire group from a hill top, and they ended up playing the entire rest of the game extremely cautious to the point where it dragged the game an hour longer than I expected, giving me more time to make small tweaks to the OPFOR force and make the operation more enjoyable for everyone. These "spawn" ambushes work the best in ghilis outside or garrisons in bulidings. My advice with buildings though is that do not auto garrison them and save with ARES, because ARES doesn't save garrisons in the save code, so manual placement is required. It's also entirely possible to do ambushes with a vehicle or two, just to spice things up, and possible turn the ambush into a NATO meatgrinder if people are just charging an operation head on. That's just my two ahoycoins from my previous experiences. I can write up more if you wish, because there are plenty of ambush stratagies that can be used. My favorite is the simple "that covered transport has no driver and looks empty and derelict, but when you get close the Zeus hits G and a wild squad of CSAT appear!" ambush, but there are a surprisingly large number of ways you can approach this topic. On a final note, I just wanted to make a small recommendation to one of your Zeus tactics regarding artillery. First off, I think you're great with it, and if people are bunched up like retards in a warzone, its their fault (you even give them a warning shot! Most Zeuses aren't so nice!) but in my Milsim days you generally had some sort of spotter for the artillery. Now I get that some open hilltops and specific key areas will be already "fire on sight" but you have a few videos where you seem to fire the artillery randomly, moving the blast area to troops even when you don't have a reason to other than to startle them. But any other reason (a squad engagement and CSAT calls artillery, some idiot has their IR pointer on in a night op and its within viewing distance of some CSAT, a vehicle detects an aircraft dropping in troops) is a valid reason to shell a motor or howitzer shot at BLUEFOR. Other than this, I think you're a great Zeus! I look forward to finally running one of your ops this Friday! -Lcpl Liru
  6. In the MillSim experience I have had, TWS and the Nightstalker Optics were limited to squad leaders (or the command team), marksmen, and spotters. This allowed for those who needed thermals to view enemy positions and designate targets with ease to call them out for targets or use thermal for deadly precision in sniping. Everyone else usually got the RCO. I completely understand why these optics are unavailable for the general public but I think they should be allowed for the sniper teams. It makes Overwatch much easier. But in the end, it's the admin's call, this is just my two cents from my experiences. Game on
  7. I was hoping I never had to ask this question, but after three separate friendly fire incidents (two of which I ended up having to kill a teammate in either self defense or the defense of others) and I just wanted to know what to do with these insubordinates if no administrator is either available or competent enough to deal with the situation. Thanks in advance! -Lcpl Liru
  8. That just happened today to a group I was with on EU 1...we had a 9 man fireteam, landed at the objective and took hard cover as a T-100 came at us and started to supress our position. I asked who had the AT and the guy with the titan "could not find the target". The tank was 2oo meters directly north, on an open hill top, and you had three people yelling it via direct chat to the point of the AT guy firing randomly, wasting his ammo... Arma days...
  9. When on EU 1/2, look for the more organized squads and just ask to join them. They're the type you're looking for on EU 1 and 2 who actually use convoys like you describe...expecially when the pilots are crashing left and right... An HEMTT filled with troops is a great sight
  10. I look forward to checking that out in about a week after I get out of college, thanks for the intel!
  11. Yea, that was corny. I've been playing Arma since the whole DayZ crazy began with arma 2 back in early 2012 because a lot of my friends kept pestering me to join them. After that whole mess concluded I started exploring other aspects of Arma and ended up joining two MilSim realism units around late 2012 and worked multiple different roles depending on where and what was assigned and available. I left all of that behind in mid 2015 to focus purely on personal issues with college and family and see myself finally having a large break despite my irl duties for the summer. I've been stranded from my two other realism groups (one had so many people join the USA military that is disbanded, the other was not accepting anyone because they were overbooked) so through considering other options that I had stumbled across I have ended up here, and i'm not disappointed at all. I look forward to serving alongside everyone here in combat, and getting through every operation. I prefer to play Arma as realistic as possible, but don't mind a bit of more casual play here and there. I specialize in recon duty with scouting targets while not being seen and being a Zeus with the ARES war mod, trying my best to make missions that go above and beyond simple offensive and defensive operations. Personal thanks for luetin09 for doing that merger video with Jester814, otherwise I would have never found this great place! I also look forward to operating in some of luetin09's missions, from what I have seen he's a great Zeus! See you all on the field -Lcpl Liru
