  1. Update: One of Ahoyworld users hadn't a command to access Local security policy. This happens if you have Windows Home (Premium). From microsoft technet and microsoft helpdesk there is written solution of enabling Local Security Policy on lower editions of Windows. However, that wasn't our case so the user updated windows to Ultimate version. It worked like a charm from that point. - additional info about Local Security Policy registry keys and Auth error NTLM or Kerberos
  2. @Amantes No Logi squad can't resupply heavy armor vehicles. Even on Chernarus we won't use Logi squad properly. We will first die or Vortex or Talon pilots will bring supplies or just respawn (damn you non immersive players). Yesterday on that big barrel thing I've brought you maaw + rockets that you requested from SL. It was brought by littlebird together with SL. If there's restriction that only Logi squad can deliver that... Like I've said in my letter status thread, I don't have to fire a single bullet. I'd love to resupply here and there and have small FOB or outpost near AO to greet assets with supply material, good chat and hot beverage, while my Logi pilot is bringing me fresh supplies all the time. On this server we are still in learning process how to use this. Yesterday was an issue during my stay on EU#3. You were Vortex or Talon I can't say for sure, but only one of that slot was occupied. We were 3 man team in Logi (not full of four with MHQ and BH in air). You were in a little bird and Logi pilot took BH for transporting purposes. So I've tought you could stay in MH-6 and provide CAS support but also be in agreement with Logi pilot about that. The problem was there were no EV targets or CMD was not giving you any. That means Logi pilot actually hijacked your role. My medic was on the ground with assets for AO providing them medical treatment since I hadn't information where was their squad medic. After the AO completed, counterattack started. Everything went wrong then. BH shot down, Torch got blown up by 3 rpgs (he was escorting me to AO) troops scattered, MHQ in the middle of AO sorrounded by two BTRs and two squads. I can only be happy and thankful for ground AO assets that I've managed to return MHQ intact back to base in one piece after whole AO has finished. I won't name any of the players since this is in general and I hope it won't happen again. We now have hard proof on the forums to remember us on our mistakes. When I've first joined EU#3 only one guy used mortars. Now, that's not happening at all. If there should be restriction, like I've said before for HAT, MAT and other heavy equipment for not using 5 javelins on the AO (way more fatigue penalty) then Logi would have plenty of work supplying troops on the ground. Until that people will still carry javelins/maaws to wipe out whole AO or there will be one man twenty mag army. Even then one of the slots Torch or Hammer should go away. There is no enough targets for everybody to have fun. Plant
  3. @Christiansen thank you very much for clarification. I have yet to see the time of using Angel or Logi squad properly since we finish every AO under thirty minutes. Even if it prolongs and we have Logi or Angel on standby, by the time they organize themselves the assets in AO will be evacuated or reinforced by Talon or Vortex. And thanks again for the awesome experience with MHQ. It was my birthday for a moment.
  4. Skip to third paragraph for the solution On vanilla Arma3 I was really happy when playing on Ahoy servers EU#1 and EU#2. I've met funny, talkative, respectful and helpful people. Every time I have question I get short and well explained answer. Then I've decided since Arma3 should be at least mild mil-sim to try EU#3 which was a hype on EU#1 campers (people like me camping on Ahoy servers). The story goes like this. We're playing and having great time on EU#1. Then one cool kid came from EU#3 and said how they were pinned down in some city, bullets were flying around, but they couldn't protect all the corners. They've called for reinforcements and finally managed to EVAC with great casualties. Combat atmosphere all over it. Cool war stories that got me hooked up. Now, EU#3 is my residential place. We all know this message very well. Link. But how to end this? The problem started after one or two weeks after playing on EU#3. Now, I'm not tech guru and It's not even my profession not even a hobby. Sometimes I know my way around and Go()gle is my friend (at least this time).I'm very tolerant so even I get message two times in a row I still had that love for EU#3 and all the small plays. I just re-run the game and hope I won't get that error again. I don't want to spend time on reading how actually memory allocators work or why is it causing it. Short story: Windows doesn't give A3 access using large chunks of memory, greater than 4KB. In Arma3Sync you have options under Launcher Options tab to change that. I was said to tick box at malloc to tbb4malloc_bi. I was so happy that I'd finally get rid of that annoying crash message. I was wrong. It was still happening like I've done nothing. Then I've found this: @fred41's memory allocator. It has explanation and is super easy to configure. It even explains what's doing. Now remember, I've tested only this allocator but you can test with Arma's allocators as well. Since this one is working for me I won't change. I do get crashes here and there but it's not memory involved anymore (reported for steam ticket crashes). At least for now. → For security policies modification: Win+R> write “secpol.msc”> “Local Policies” hierarchy tree> “User Rights Assignment” > On right side find “Lock pages in memory” > RMB for properties. >LMB for “Add User or Group” > find “typeyourPCusername” = restart your PC. You should be in game by now and not on this thread on forums. -I don't know what could be the consequences of using large pages of memory for your Win User Account. Go(o)gle is my enemy. You'll also have present from your PC when you actually stand on the EU#3 land and open your virtual eyes for the first time. Hint: @Game will stop saying “Don't move!, Don't move!” at the beginning of the mission. _Plant
  5. If this thing is that good I'd like that BLUFOR have that on AlRayak.
  6. I've never used those. Too ugly for my style . Please if the problem persist without re-equipping vests xpost to Gauntlet RHS (*appologies) feedback subforum so that admins can remove those items if necessary.
  7. Strange, I haven't noticed it. Then it depends what vest or helmet you are carrying. But RHS should be all we use for BLUFOR. Which particular you were wearing. So I could try it on that.
  8. Here are the logs for ACE and RHS https://github.com/acemod/ACE3/releases http://www.rhsmods.org/mod/1#changelog I don't see anything in ballistics. Maybe it's weapon mods.
  9. Don't get me wrong @Slugg087 but I can't actually take this seriously. I don't know if you are joking. Try game Red Orchestra 2. Mostly it's onehitinstagibmodalloverit. Then... back to ARMA3 But I'll look into it. When I was rolling with beanie i was two or three times shot in head and it showed only blue. I bandaged myself and only bacame drug addict. But I was alive. Then I stop playing the role of Rambo SAS mode and went back of having helmet. Then I got one shot killed with AKs. The best way to you to try this is going into virtual arsenal and try shooting white dudes walking around. Try shooting them in helmet with various ammo and also try shooting them into face. You will see the difference immediately. I'm saying this because It really matters in which exact position you get shot. It's vector based game with so much details that you actually forgot you are sorrounded by physics.
  10. Somebody wants to attend lasershow? We've got that covered. Yes we can be really organized and disciplined This is how much love Arsenal has during Gamenights
  11. @kennychr: Sweet, can't wait for .31 to roll out. I really appreciate all the stuff you guys at developement team are giving to us. Regarding channels; well if you have good SL he knows what he's doing. You can't stop people for talking but you can divert communications or filter them. @BACONMOP: This can me interpreted in various scenarios and deployment instances depending of the type the mission in which assets are involved. Since we are all going for the same AO it's kind of boring just rushing from one side if you take that path. You know you will just overrun them and kill everyone inside AO or you will all get blown up by MBTs or IFVs or an enemy grenade. In PVP I don't think going as one would be ideal. This all matters mostly of individuals. Since we are battling AI we have comfort of doing that. We don't need ten players of clearing a town from one direction or guarding AO from one point. AI spawn in twelve at most. Five men team can manage that. If we all go on same path, players behind sometimes won't even fire a single shot. It's not supposed to endanger anyone but with separating into smaller groups gives us opportunity of that unique fights, location medevacs and wipe outs. *And there comes the problem of people near Arsenal talking their war stories. How they've managed to pull that off? There is excitement. Example4warstories: A1 has been pinned down but HAT saved them with their appropriate action and accuracy miles away. The moment happened @Zargabad 17th September when SL @Ryko personally greeted HAT team over radio chatter for taking that awesome cross-long land shot). Mom I was there. Example 1: Defend AO. I don't think you will even be near 100 meter radius if the terrain doesn't allow that (plain surfaces like Zargabad, deploy Antenna Array) I want to create and play real scenarios. Example 2: CMD has three birds at disposal. They coordinate through FAC. And you (Devs) were actually considering of removing that role. Let's make it real. No FAC = No flight. All birds remain on the ground. Imagine all the traffic on CMD using just three birds. I saw only one guy on EU#3 managing all communications from only one LR. It was @Raz during Raz's Playground Gamenight which happened 12th of September. They haven't divided CMD and AIR channel. I was behind the Leopard wheel. But Raz kept all conversation and all responses like a machine: -Identification: Identifies you on the appropriate channel. -Destination: To which asset you want to send transmission -Confirmation from other side that it is listening -Transmission allowed from the other side -Sending transmission to its receiver. -Receiver replies that the transmission has been received -After every change of transmission, it ended with “over”. There wasn't even a five second of radio silence. Since we are not Raz, and we don't have that Top Gun or Huston calm voice we are prone of prolonging transmissions which leads to misunderstandings. I'm still learning how to use communications properly. It's the little things that keep communications “voice-jammed”. For example “I see enemy forces on bearing xxx”. Then I've changed to “Enemy contact at bearing xxx”. Now I want to force myself of doing this: Contact at xxx yyy; while x being a bearing and y being approximate distance of contact. If I involve exact same, calm, deep, professional, tone and using of all that cool top notch layers of short terms that military radio operatives use I'd be personally really happy while drinking my coffee and reading newspapers in my control tower while coordinating all the CMD and AIR communications. We have radio equipment at our disposal, why not use the best of it? Every time I join EU#3 I configure all the channels on my radio device. For example: NUM1 being default one, using NUM2 and NUM3 for special teams, while squads are being set on NUM4 to NUM6. I always leave NUM8 for Air SR since it's the highest number so I interpret it as the air unit. If I'm Logi Engineer I use LR. For this I set up CMD LR and AIR LR if they are divided. I set additional channel according to which squad has the main role while keeping myself on my specific SR. If anybody needs me, my SR is on the map. @Ryko I've assumed that idea of dividing channels is yours. And I know it works just fine leaving you plenty of space to coordinate with teamleads on separate general channel. It also tells what hype you are causing when you come or leave the server. Maybe we should consider teamleaders have also task of marking their location and movement on map. But that brings us of map being undreadable. @Josh you devs are doing hardlifting we are here to help with in-game experience. We will be always thankful to members of DevCave Club. @MessedUpSmiley Man you are messed up. . I've asked you yesterday and you told me that the base was created by @alaganthe and you. I know that @Josh has done all the rest because I've asked him how many days he has spent (the answer is three) And props went to @Josh @alaganthe and you if you read carefully (@Josh's name remained hidden for other reasons). You haven't seen me driving MHQ truck? I feel really sad now. This map is God sent for small base player. Anything greater than let's say 15 this map is not good at all. Since I'm playing most of the day (yes I do sleep and eat) I see empty server and actually experience that 15 cap joy on this map. When It is prime-time I urge moderators to switch to other greater maps. The problem with CAS is they were given permission to attack a marker on map but they go bat*hit crazy and killing everything around. @Amantes Yup ground troops haven't given right information to the pilot. @Ryko2 -Oh sweet, I need to try that teleporting device. “Base this is Plant, one to beam somewhereup.” -I haven't tried that cargo stuff yet… I guess my favourite roll will be Logi *rubbing hands. -Yes fatigue is implemented but not with full potential. I was playing on other server before and if you have carryall backpack fully loaded you actually can't run even 300 meters. You immediately walk slow. That's why we can't even use Logi in it's full glory. No Assistant will run to Logi truck or crate to equip with more javelins since they already have 5 of it. Missile Specialist; only one in tube and Assistant maybe but maybe two in backpack. Imagine all the horror then when you see three T90s on Chernarus. And SL sends a squad to deliver Javelins to remote position and obviously secure their flank. Then on the way there you get ambushed by ambient AI. Create the plays. Share experience. -No you were not in case. Like I've said earlier. When you come online there is a hype glowing around. -Push to talk always works fine for me. Sometimes only in-game voice chats gets somehow enabled. Happened two times in my two months on this server. -I'll think I'll create tutorial for how to sit on the chair. In addition that may concern multiple players: @MessedUpSmiley; @Ryko; @S0zi0p4th; -And I oppose to every UAV or HUNT IR. For AI fights UAV should be disabled. No excitement. -I oppose to every intention of removing Arsenal. Better integrate new training slot where you can be Barbie, Ken, Role model I don't care. Stay at base in trainer slot and shoot targets at firing range. -strobes were able to attach before 3.9 update. I've attached them on vehicles but not on players. And I've attached them multiple times on same vehicle. They maybe run out of battery but if you are carry more of them you can attach new one on the same vehicle. -One thing I'd like to add we need to stop wondering around medic and injured person and looking what is going on around them. If medic is present and he didn't ask for your help, go watch that corner where enemies are coming from. Yes we are still doing that.
  12. Hello everyone, This time I'll try to explain and cover every subject I intended until last status while retaining briefly explanations. Let's start. 1. General update 1.1 I salute new map Gauntlet Zagrabad. It is really a nice map, and what distinguishes it from Fallujah is that all streets and corners of the towns and villages are unique. Even buildings have their particular function like mosque, different towers, squares that are converted into marketplace, workshops and others. You can see that the map is created by someone who understands how city is developed. Just today we were at a remote village and were engaged in fight at a marketplace. Truly something new. There were no ordinary fights; you need to move constantly because the angles of the streets are not commonly shaped and you always need to check your surroundings. Also on a plus side is that every building that you can climb on has a disadvantage of covering all the angles. Trees are placed thoughtfully around the buildings and you can also see that the creator has payed attention on open fields which have been separated by “green fence”. This gives European type of arranging fields. Very big PLUS is going to creator who integrated Logistics squad. We need to understand how to use it and how to deploy it on the field. Imagine admins integrate fatigue which has drastic impact. You won't place then two Javelins or carrying twenty mags (I've typed in letters to keep it low profile). One thing that really needs fixing is that strange helicopter echo when you first spawn on the map. BLUFOR base where we spawn is something special. It is created by @MessedUpSmiley and @alganthe. These guys know how to make the base in a hurry. It is like there was a mission in planning and the remote FOB needed to be set with utmost priority. Base is uncommon like the map; unique, detailed and well organized. It has mission planning site, small barracks, salvaged metal, guarding points. There are a lot of helipads which gives it a look of fast response FOB, and a feel that all the equipment was brought by air and established on sight. Positioning of helipads is a little bit off. While this is okay I'd like to see more scrap metal around repair area like barrels and crates around helipads for fuel and rearm. This is our little gem which we call re-spawn; well, that in most cases. 1.2. I have never seen so much team killing on EU#3 server. Just WOW how we can even manage to step on foreign soil and engage the op forces. The team killings were not preformed by usual grenades inside the FOB and our beloved Arsenal box (yes I gave it personality). No these killings were preformed inside AO, on the battlefield. It mainly because of lack of coordination, not identifying targets, untrained use of AT equipment, or CAS preforming gun runs without permission. Regarding AT equipment, there are plenty of videos around the web how to use one and remember, this is not a Single Player game. You are not Master Chief or Dr. Gordon Freeman. You are individual surrounded by friendly individuals and only teamwork will bring you back to base so you can see your beloved Arsenal again. When you hear play your roles it doesn't mean only which gun you can take. Just yesterday guy discharged AT equipment not securing his back blast. One guy was incapacitated and the other guy was given CPR for five minutes. It wasn't even American AT. Moving to CAS. If the commander on field gave you a permission to preform gun run, IT ALWAYS tells you where and how, with what approach in mind not to endanger assets on the field. You were not supposed to engage every other target you see in the AO. If you are inpatient, just don't be a pilot. Keeping this in mind I'd suggest integrating white list for pilots who can CAS or which ones can actually use helicopter in transport purposes. Today everybody wants to be an air ACE. “Whacha wearing, Barbie? I think I'll go with olive one.” giggles. 1.3. For the last week I'm hearing here and there about chick-chat on the radio communications. When we are at Ops, let's keep the chat on the minimum. When we are near Arsenal, form a group therapies, social interactions and what not. Just not at the AO. This causes assets to team kill. One asset is starting setting channels for general squad, and fire team like 100,110,120. This is a good division. Keep fire team chat between fire teams because nobody says whole squad will clean same side of the town. Keep your squad general channel as additional channel. But if you are not TL or SL report only to your specific channel. Make sure always to mark your channel on the map. If you get team killed in hijacked enemy vehicle, your own fault. First, we don't drive enemy vehicles, If we are driving we make sure to report to our TL and advise him to report to SL. That is the main role of the Chain of Command Communications. If you are still uncertain how to use radio communications, visit your Ahoy Bible Forum. 2. Suggestions: 2.1. One thing to consider is re-enabling side chat or global. I know that new players aren't actually reading any of the rules like we saw in earlier iterations filling side chat and asking questions: “Where are the tanks?” Heh that is probably my favourite one when guy asked exact that question on Chernarus. Immediately after that always someone writes in capitals RULE4. I admit, when I've joined EU#3 for the first time I also greeted everyone with Hello on side chat. Everybody was furious and after that when I thought what I am doing I questioned myself. Problem for me not having a side chat is that I can't stand while marking targets or way points on map to change every marker to side so everybody can see. I was really fast at this and now this gives me a hard time. If we really have problems reading general rules, Then I don't know how people install the game in the first place. Hell, how do we even use this thing we call PC. 2.2. Yes we need training, not just air but also how to preform house cleanings, using equipment and communications. But be sure, if you ask anyone who is in the game or setup room politely and in good timing (that means not in the AO, keep your question in mind, if you can't remember write it down) you will get an answer. If nobody knows, join us on forums and we'll have discussion. Keep the game play flowing, question decisions later. Let's make the most enjoyable experience. If you are new pilot or just insecure, we have good pilots and if you ask them politely they will gladly give you co-pilot seat. They will maybe even give you that joystick so you can preform that hard maneuver which was bugging you for a while. Give interest and attention in the role you want to play, the others will follow and help you out. New players keep coming. While we all know each other, experienced players should help new ones. Not leave them behind on AO alone like lost sheep. I was CMD Engineer and I took a role of leading four new players through streets of Fallujah. First they shouldn't be there in the first place, the team leader was also a new guy. ASL was just coordinating with one fire team and left other team to wonder around the streets of Fallujah. I can see lone wolf-ers and how they actually become one. Thankfully CMD Medic called for immediate EVAC and guys went home – all with injuries. 2.3 On a suggestion thing just for discussion, integrating two types of team, infiltration and breaching. Breaching vehicles or helicopter, Infiltration H.A.L.O jumps on point. I saw a glare in all those eyes when you've jumped from that Huron on Fallujah during sandy sunset. This would only be viable by night. For the Infiltration team to be enabled and deployed all slots from that team have to be filled. 3. Other: 3.1. If SL or TL asks to use laser, it doesn't mean we are having laser party. 3.2. Ambient AI is your ticket to have fun. 3.3. LEARN TO USE PUSH TO TALK. 3.4. I will repeat this one. ARSENAL IS NOT WHY PEOPLE ARE TAKING A LONG TIME IN BASE. If you wonder why you will ask yourself which will lead you to conclusion. If not, leave it and be that guy which you already are. If you are not liking people talking and playing around Arsenal, take initiative. 3.5. I think that Ambient AI is misunderstood how it is supposed to be working. We are all rushing to complete that one mission which is always repeating. But why? I had better fights and experience fighting ambient AI while they ambush than actual AO. Why are we all rushing at it and avoiding ambient AI? Do we get points or something for completing missions fast. Are we keeping track of some hidden score? Just today I've had the best experience in a while fighting my way through Ambient AO to actually going to the best AO of clearing city from enemies. 3.6. Players keep asking SL/TL what should they do, should they do it and such. Don't be lost sheep, Keep your buddy (TIP: you should always have a buddy at your side) close and take initiative, but not initiative Jack Churchill – like. How I know when I play with players who play their roles and actually are doing team play? Simple, they are constantly looking at the map. Today SL ordered specifically my team to check particular side of AO. Why my team? Because SL saw who is on that particular far side of AO on the map so he knew how to shape his order. Check your map constantly, shape your thought with intel you have been provided from the comms. Well, I was thinking to write briefly… I'm obviously unable to do that. I want to be precise. Well at least the ending is short. Good plays, Plant.
  13. Always install according to repository. There is always the latest what you need to play on EU#3. I hope you are running the game with arma3sync. It's stupid easy. Just click and play.
  14. I'd love to see recon team deployed in combat zone before actual mission happening. Gathering intel is the most valuable thing. @Ryko: regarding training, it would be nice if we in the base have firing range also for vehicles, so for example, devs can integrate unmovable targets that will respawn after time and we can shoot them and lock on them with AT stuff. We had that in PS2 - VR training. Bases are huge, it can be deployed without modifying the base layout, but as suggested in other posts, we need more base buildings like actual HQ only accessible by CMD,SL,TL and camps for soldiers. you spawn inside your barracks, having your box for stash stuff. If we go even further, weapons are taken from arsenal building, and all weapons are logged who has taken what (no contraband allowed @Despite ), so when TL access stuff they can control who has taken what and how much of it. TLs should care about soldiers, SLs have supervision of TLs. And for all that we need training slots. So when you are practicing you pick your role at first. For example Practice:Shooting range 1,or Practice: Demolitions and Explosives 5; numbers indicate which position on practice/training field) That is the complexity we could have. We just need to be patient and let devs do their best.
  15. You won't be so excited when our convoy gets hit by rpg or you take rpg in your leg. :/
  16. Surviving under Raz's submission is real tasking. Let's see how much fun we can get.
  17. Yeah because you haven't tried to kill it. We've tried so base was a massacre. I remember one guy joining later and the first thing he said : "What happened here". To bad I haven't print screened after the chaos.
  18. I strongly disagree with removing everything. Glitch had a perfect solution: "You have 5 minutes for loadout." Everybody listened. The command only needs to be decisive in intention and clear voice.
  19. @ Josh You are right for arsenal. It depends of the player. When I've first joined, I was fashion queen myself. I've just wanted to look cool. Now I don't care as long as I have beard and that wool beanie. I've mentioned Luetin's video not because his opinion, but because of some kind of evidence to analyze what players are actually doing around in the base. It is confusing because of my word expression (Luetin's favourite). Regarding squads. They are clear now for me but they may have not been used properly sometimes. but that was because there weren't devided into fireteams. I'm no expert and I'm still learning short and decisive commands over radios. Yesterday young_wolf did amazing job on coordinating two fireteams Alpha 1 and Alpha 2. It was really nice to see that kind of teamwork, even we haven't seen a fight (Destroy UAV mission). Quote: "Our biggest issue is people don't report stuff as much as they should." - perfectly said. I still need to better organize loadouts and pick fights. I'm carrying 10 magazines at max. Think that in real life 6 is default for normal mission. I always run out of magazines. Ambient AI giving me hard times obviously, heh. ?Question. Can marksman run with team but somehow have overlook on them? I mean constantly moving with team but have better picture behind them looking flanks if we are going down the hill for example. I know going downhill should be avoided in some cases, but yesterday I was having conversation with young_wolf. The UAV was in the valley, We were questioning hills and being ambushed from 3 of them. We didn't like the approach but we rolled with it. Young_wolf designated one fireteam for one hill but second two were unguarded. Somehow we have endangered the whole operation. It was good that enemies have approached from only one hill. Haven't fired a single bullet in that mission, but I have really enjoyed by coordination and teamplay. That's why I'm on this server. Like I've said. Yesterday was a good day. @ DakinDragco : I think I, as a new player just need to learn where is what. Then the feel would be like shopping grocieries from one shelf. I always carry 4 demos. Sometimes we just don't have enough explosives. Or the next objective spawns near us. We can do briefing on the field and proceed to next objective. This is my current kitbag loadout: 4xdemo, NVS, mags, Laser Desig+2xbatt., some medical stuff, AMS, Eotech 552, 2x smoke, 2x frag, spare earplugs. My gun comes dissasembled from loading loadout and I assemble it with stuff inside my backpack (optic, sound suppressor, laser and mag). Every now and then somebody forgets something. I'm here to help to make team vital and ready for operations. My favourite role is engineer or explosive specialist. Since there is only one and it's always occupied, I'm fine with running rifleman or rifleman assisant.
  20. Status Letter EU3 26082015 Hello all EU3 forum readers. I'm playing on Ahoy servers for about two months; time which I've spent in Arma3 world. I have never played Arma franchise before. That brought me to my first and favourite Arma3 community. I know a lot of people don't know me yet so I'll do my best to have great relations, tolerance and respect to Ahoy users like administrators and veterans had with me till now. Okay, enough sweet talk. Let me start typing what this letter is all about. In this letter I'll address my observations regarding EU3 server. I'll also name a few players since their opinion is of a greater respect than mine from other players in this community. That would be the only purpose of naming. It is not in any way meant for any type of offence. Let's talk about me so you have better understanding of my type of gameplay. I'm male, looking for good… heh not that kind of talk. - Supportive, helpful, compliant but questionable. Yes I will always listen to my SL, and yes I will always help newcomers. I will always remember first time when I've joined, Nicolai and Leo helped me with recruiting. This is helpful community, ask nicely with good timing and you'll have answer in no time. But hey, I still hear whining on EU3? Well yeah it's not all that shining and beautiful. There will be problems all the time but we can resolve them. We are civilized people behind the triggers I took wings away from my team. First problem is Luetin09's favourite: time spent *near Arsenal and around the base. He has also addressed this problem in his last video on his channel. Thirty five minutes *near Arsenal. Remember, I've typed and repeated *near Arsenal three times with a star in front. That is because I want you to think about that not all players are in Arsenal choosing their favourite dress to wear. People were just bored and have started to drive vehicles, popping flares or just hanging and having fun around arsenal box. Even Luetin09 was admiring that red bright light later when he saw that *something hit the fan. I think we can find another solution for this. For example when you are finished with your loadout step away and meet with your team at briefing hangar. It would be also awesome if teams are clearly separated like small groups so when SL or CMD come they can give instructions easily. This will eliminate the problem of assumption of Arsenal fever or even guys staying inside Arsenal. SL's work is really demanding (hail to all SLs) but needs to be strict and decisive. That is the only way so the others won't question commands. And there will be always a black sheep that is actually in arsenal picking its wool. But player Glitch has found a solution for that: “You have five minutes for arsenal.” End of story. To all us black sheep imagine this situation: You are late with your loadout; SL said to stay in base like a punishment for not obeying; you are crucial member in your team; your team lacks of crucial member; your team got wiped; you all need to work again that mission. You are part of a team, don't take your team's wings away. Play your role doesn't mean only take that item in your backpack. It means play in team as ONE. I remember when I first get on this server and I've already mentioned Nicolai and Leo helping me with way around. I've asked permission to stay in base to know what is for what, what to press, what to take etc. They have insisted I go with them and stick with one of them. They let me stayed at base. I haven't looked at that situation like I'm looking it right now. That day I took wings away from my team. Instruments of our plays Jenkins I feel like going that way. This will be hard to explain for me but bare with me. English is not my main language unfortunately. Because in human brain if person says one way, it will be done like that no matter what and we'll all see only that path. Let's invert situation. SLs decide approach and everything. SLs can argue, cause chick-fight, and whatnot. Put some dynamics also in mission planning. Not only on terrain. I don't have to believe, I know we have some brilliant SLs on this server but they don't express their way of doing things because they tag alongside CMDs command and don't bother. CMD is like bond between SLs, a structural thing that observes and connects. Imagine situation, CMD says from his throne to go capture building. SL acknowledges that and proceeds with saying his fellow troops to go there. SL is on the field, he is seeing that there is enemy armada waiting there and his experience tells him no to go there. He needs then again tell CMD that building can't be captured right now. It can be done like this: CMD:”go for objective Alpha on abc SL1!” SL1: copy that CMD. SL1: CMD this is SL1, Alpha hot on abc, How is bca looking for you CMD? asking CMD's opinion on current deviation from plan in same time staying in touch with CMD, that is important! CMD: CMD copies SL1, Sending your way SL2 for covering fire from cba. SL1 now sees his prize with tunnel-vision but CMD is eagle eye that sees threat on path abc from greater perspective and sends support along the way. Because SL needs to deal with battlefield and commanding chain he gets brain-freeze and dug in, sometimes forget to report to CMD so CMD gets useless on the battlefield. And time passes. I don't know how this would work in Arma3 world but in Planetside2 (PS2) which I've played for two years before Arma3; platoon leader commands four squads with twelve troops in each. CMD/Platoon for SL is what is Maestro for musicians that create music (plays). Instruments of our plays. Talking is winning We are humans and we like to gather around, socialize and talk about everything. This is conversation. *near Arsenal there is conversational noise all the time. It's like we are on market selling food for life, or for younger generations to understand staying in line for buying a new smartphone. You can't tell people to shut up. You can polite ask to Clear Comms. I know old veterans get nervous sometimes but they can gather inside our temple – our briefing hangar. Who wants to hear the mission will go inside hangar and be part of that. Who wants to socialize, stay around Arsenal. The only thing I would ask is to pick role that is not connected to other players. In PS2 Clear Comms would be called three times repeatedly. Imagine beautiful silence of 48 players listening to one man giving general orders. Then imagine a silence once again and listening to one man giving second orders to twelve players. Radios are one of the most important tools on battlefield for soldier. I won't go now in how to use radios. When I go in transport or in the beginning when first “radio check” fill the air, I always make sure of my radio settings: one ear, headphones and frequency check. You can set additional channels or other squad channels. If you are SL carrying LRR and on safe spot, you could consider switching to stereo so your squad can hear CMD general message also. Only thing I'd ask is don't change frequencies. We all start with same frequency. Imagine a mess that we would made if we play against other players and not AI or we need to switch between 10 frequencies knowing the sequence. If you have to change a frequency for some reason, before doing that inform all others about doing that. At least once in two days I hear someone saying that he was in wrong frequency. That is not excuse. Check your radios all the time. Frequencies should be listed on the map. Just yesterday we had whole squad on another frequency and we had to send a guy to inform them on their frequency or why they won't respond to CMD. LRR equipment as we all concurred should be wear by SL but maybe we should have radioman slot also that way even if we have new player he could understand better how to respond, call, or send on radios their message. Maybe we should introduce also a Loadout slot so that we black sheep, fashion queens can dress up properly and not make and disturbance on ongoing mission. This will lead us to our next chapter. Arsenal:”I have it, you need it” I believe we are waiting to talk about equipment or as Marcus Kincaid from Borderlands 2 would say: “Guns, guns, guns! “Simple, elegant and brings a plenty of joy. But are we all happy with arsenal, restrictions and other stuff. I'll first step forward and say that I'm not. I don't want that Arsenal become a slot from Red Orchestra 2. I mean I really like RO2 but it's whole another level of gameplay. Disabling lockpick, sunglasses, uniforms and other stuff won't make any change in times of ppl picking stuff. That 35min length problem and proposition are described in the second paragraph. It's not the Arsenal. It's other smaller things that accumulate time. This should be main concern, not crippling arsenal. What I like in this game is freedom of doing things. I urge every admin member or core staff to reconsider and bring us back all Arma world can offer. I want my banana back! (I remember times when Nicolai actually counted how many bananas carryall backpack can take, fun times). Next thing is particularly for Autoriflemen and their assistants. I was really enjoying playing carrier for player Wolf when he's Autorifleman. Only problem we had was we couldn't get along how to transfer ammo. One tip now is that Autorifleman place his ammo inside Arsenal crate (I like my base ground clean). Then informs his assistant that there is ammo in box to carry. Assistant then informs him how many packs he has taken. End of story. First time I was playing assistant for someone else I was greeted with this: “I'm using xyz weapon, I need you to carry me some ammo”. The procedure for newbie is like this then: Drop weapon, find Autorifleman's weapon, equip it, ask Autorifleman if he wants tracers, what color and whatnot, make room in backpack for ammo packs, drop backpack on floor, load your loadout, swap backpack, and it leaves one backpack inside arsenal or on the floor. Admin needs to clean the inventory mess on the ground. If you don't ask it would have been like that. Instead you can ask and he will drop that ammo for you. Again lots of unnecessary conversation. I really like that administrators are giving us freedom of picking uniform with regulations of our choice. I hope it won't cross their mind to wear all same uniforms. Differences are what keeps this game dynamic. Maybe same uniforms would be a nice touch for Game Nights, but not on regular basis. Officers can't and shouldn't think for us. This is particularly for explosives. Always check map to see what kind of equipment you need. You can't destroy a tower with rocket launcher we all know that. What we don't know is to bring explosives with us or ask who will bring them. It's nothing new when I say that we on EU3 go in armour clean-up or tower destruction without explosives or not enough rocket launchers for all the vehicles. Now the excuse could be there's no explosive specialist slot to select. If you ask me, whole point of selecting your role in the beginning is useless if you can't agree with others or play like a team. I would be more happy if someone asks me to bring more explosives than telling me that a certain gun is forbidden, I can't use that straw hat, I'm not on vacation etc. Nobody ever asks if somebody brought explosives or how many rockets we got in squad. I know I'm risking ban with this but I like sniper rifles. Especially M2010. I was actually thinking convincing Baconmop to introduce m24 or any variant of Accuracy International. When there isn't a lot of players, no commanding officers or administrators in EU3 I roll with my favourite gun. That bolt-action experience. The sound of that gun gives me shivers and with all these mods I feel like I don't know what. Hell, it even comes with different colours. From all joyfulness I'm virtually slapping myself on cheeks. And yes my dream is slammed. When I asked why, the answer is something like this: there are lone wanderers, over powerful, behaviour. I have yet to see the manifest on forums why it's forbidden. First lone wanderers; I don't believe there are any on this server and if there are any, they would be marked on map with new addition. On other server I won't name it but you will know which one when go alone you are kicked from server. End of story. That should be the policy. Over powerful. Yes it's powerful, but m2010 is crippled with ROF. Noreen is greater threat and that is over powered, and if you want to kill something above 1 kilometre there is Intervention laying around. On other servers and on EU1 I had great time marking things on map for mortar team. It was my (don't get me wrong, this is a game after all—well I already feel bad for saying this) privilege and great experience working with mortar team. And I'm not even a part of their team on paper. Every shell was designated to marker on the map. I've spend more time typing and just looking than touching mouse. I'm saying this because snipers don't need to be killing machines, they can and should be just recon or observers in theatre of war. Sometimes I've returned to base without firing a single bullet. And I'll always call that a good day in Arma. If I want to kill stuff I'll go and play other games with all the kids that f*cked my mother. Behaviour is something all by itself. Yes snipers are over powered in this way. They can be cocky and kill everything and not give any fun to other players. Playing marksman or sniper on this server is no easy task in any way. But using all the equipment to calculate trajectory of a bullet is what is all about for me. If you ask me the hardest of all quests that is in front of sniper is finding the best spot. That is the spot where you can be in duration of whole mission without compromising yourself or your spotter if you have it and covering at least 70% of territory. If you can achieve of having all three then you are in perfect spot. Ammo is free for all One thing I haven't realized but I have to point out is type of ammunition. I always opted for 7.62mm over 5.56mm not realizing why all the fuss. I like “classic” look of weapons and HK417 caught my eye. Yeah, I'm also fashion queen deep inside. I have run with HK417 12inch barrel primarily – because my first gun was HK417 16inch before I was told to read forums about allowed loadouts. I've changed it to 5.56mm and this is the reason why. When you use 5.56mm you can ask fellow teammate to lend you some ammo or you can give it to them. That is the only point and I'll stick with it without concerning sound, velocity or penetration. Ammo free for all. Rules of engagement Chain of command—I want to talk about that separately. Rule 3 is your Bible, trigger is your messenger. End of conversation. On this server there is always rule of Yellow weapon: Don't shoot unless fire upon. Weapons are green or red when commanding officers says that way. Even if I see there's a potential threat I always ask an officer a permission to shoot first. Maybe I just want to hear voice of Eggmuffin or Nicolai. They have very intriguing voices which are more distinctive than others. Especially Nicolai, who as a leader, I'll follow without hesitation. I need to question myself what I've written right this moment but I'll leave it open for laughs. I like to play this game on highest immersion out there. I'm taking someone's life to save mine or teams. ROE and other rules are all on forums and some more important are also written in Teamspeak. These is still happening so I'll keep addressing it: -don't use 20 or 30 mm guns – my game is moving like cards that have been dealt by 60-old dealer. If you have to use it please ask for permission first. I know it's a film but in Lone Survivor pilot asks for permission to engage even he sees there's a war zone below him. Yesterday was happy trigger also. -If you are in heli don't hover over the combat zone we can't hear anything down there. Rule 8. -officers should be more strict with timing. This will bring a lot in time reduction near *certain points. No immersion: - players showing on map - shift+tilde showing direction of movement I was very happy that administrators have introduced speedboats to Panthera map. This is a proof they are listening players opinion. Maybe I was selfish and should look wide angle on every aspect of server and not only what concerned me particularly. But hey, you can express your opinions. So if you have suggestion, critic or any other type of personal opinion, keep EU3 sub-forum active and full of constructive conversations. I'm kindly asking administrators and moderators of this server to reconsider bringing all the goodies back to Arsenal and take into consideration my appeal for allowing sniper rifles on Ahoy EU3 servers. Cheers, Plant P.S. Tomorrow is my birthday so I'll upload pictures some other time.
  21. To all admins who will check logs please note: we have been engaged by H0K's double. I don't know how/what to call it. But It was shooting us inside base. It stopped when I was killed and H0K needed to DC. This is just to let know supervisors. Cheers. Plant
  22. Gone for vacation. I wish you all great game times. Respect each other. All problems and misunderstandings can be settled easily.
  23. I vote for Sunday since Saturday is Gamenight and if we have done something wrong or right we can discuss and reflect about our decissions during training when it's still fresh. I haven't been in military, and Arma3 is my first milsim (approx 3 weeks now). I'm playing actively on Ahoy servers where members are willing to help. Hope that training will answer all my questions by itself. Only problem here is summer and I'd like to hail to the Sun. Cheers.
  24. You are welcome Eggmuffin, I'll be your personal calendar.
  25. So, when is the training? I'm more excited about Training then GamingNight. I want to learn more.
