As Kam said not just the model but sounds, vehicle physics, and then getting it to work with physx, texturing, etc etc 
From what i know you need to use something like Blender to create the model then import it with Arma tools / Eliteness  to get it into the engine, then spend your life tinkering with the dodgy coding to get it work right or as close to right as you like it
 
the main drawback is that there is very little if no documentation about how to go about it and it's mostly trial & error,
your best bet would be to jump onto the BI forums and give one of the modders (Gnat, if he's still around - haven't been on BI forums in donkeys years) that are building / porting models there a shout most are very helpful and will guide you in the right direction

Youtube is still converting it (it was a wooping 10gb in size XD) upload was done in 2,6 hours and youtubes encoding took a long while aswell.

So waking up this morning I realised it was my 1 year anniversary of officially becoming a part of AhoyWorld!
 
There are quite a few people not around any more since I joined (coincidence? Hmmm) but for those who have been around both since the first day and any day since thanks for making me feel like a valued part of this great community and here's to another year!
 
Feel free to have a drink to celebrate! Me being the boring non-alcohol drinker, I will settle for this nice cup of tea next to me

Coin farming thread

Let me help you with that!

It's the summer holidays so as well as forest fires we also have lots of idiots on our servers and because we have a limited number of admins we need your help in making ahoyworld a pleasant experience for everyone.

So picture this:
Player A is a regular player but doesn't use teamspeak (TS)
Player B is also a regular player and is on TS
Player C well he's just a troublemaker!

So player C teamkills several players over a few minutes.

Player A notices this and doesn't like what he sees so he asks in side chat:
"Any Admin on? Player C is tking!"

If an admin is on he will know immediately who to look for and what player c is up to.

If no admin is on Player B who's on TS can poke an admin and let him know. But it's vital that you pass on the correct information. Something like "tker on eu1" or "you need to ban player c" leaves us with very little info to go on and requires a bit of investigation. Whereas something like "Player C is tking on EU1" lets us know who is doing what.

Sometimes an admin will do the admin magic remotely and may ask for confirmation in side chat. It's up to you the player base to help us admin so if you say that Player C was tking and you see an admin asking for confirmation, help them out and just type confirm in side chat.

Check the map to see if he's in a vehicle it may be the gunner who's doing the tking and the driver being reported so let us know before we kick the wrong person.

Important Notes:
Don't TK in self defense or retaliation, ever! I have in the past kicked the person who was, in fact, the reporter of the tk. He had tk'd the tker just after I joined the game and as i only had limited information i just kicked the first person i saw tking.

Please don't tell us to ban someone, tell us who is doing what so we can investigate it properly, it's quite distracting when we someone saying 'ban him' in side chat when we're still trying to figure out what's happening.

What is this:
This is an Arma scripting (.SQF & .SQM)syntax highlighter to be used in Notepad++, specially for dark themes. 
It is developed using the 'Deep Black' theme that is shipped with NPP, but will work for anything with a dark background.

Please note: This is a community project, and we will appreciate all your help to keep this updated and working. At the moment this is already the Syntax Highlighter with the most complete database, lets keep it that way and expand on this initial version as much as possible. Any input can be logged in the Issue Tracker or bigger input can be happily forked and imported with a pull request.
 

Actually finding VA much better than vas,
Regarding loading saves I've found that you need to have the weapon for the particular load out in your hands to activate load outs for that weapon
FFor example I have 3 mk200 saves with varying equipment, to activate the load out I go to VA chose a mk from the weapon list open the load screen and a all 3 mk load outs will be available to select
If I want to swap to another weapon load out I change to that weapon then go to the load screen again
As for finding mags etc just open the backpack selection and you get a list of ammo for the weapons you have in load out if you want to carry ammo for a different weapon as ammo bearer then choose the weapon first add the ammo select your own weapon again and save the load out

There's always one ^^ kidding, although you should see some improvement I know I have gone form 15 / 20fps to high 20's to 30's on the server
 
But it was more a server side improvement / clean out, with the last patch something broke serverside and didn't resolve itself
 
so Core staff and have put alot of their own time especially Kamaradski with major prep & reinstalling sessions last week and last 2 days re-configing things cheers Kam
we've managed to treat the problem like applying vagiclean and rid the cheesy buildup that had accumilated over the past while 
 
the Server load is running @ 35 - 40fps 0 - 15 players and a solid 20fps from 20 player to full pop 45 players  (it has only ever reached 5fps maybe 10fps in the past with any amount of players) so huge improvement, 
 
We're looking at more improvements by trimming the fat from the mission / rewirte of code etc.. also Headless client which if we get working with the mission will move AI handling to a separate serve which should increase client server performance even more and make the AI & missions more fun to deal with, keep an eye on the forums for updates some fun interesting times ahead

Hey guys 
 
For those having issues seeing the servers / any servers in Arma the following may help load them quicker in the browser
 
To do this follow these steps:
 
1. Open start menu, filter for "firewall", look for "windows firewall with advanced security" and open it.
2. Once open find "Inbound Rules" and click on it. It will now show a list of inbound connection rules like arma3.exe, file discovery, printer/file sharing, core networking etc.
3. On the top right hand side of the program will be a button "Add new rule" click this button and a setup wizard will pop up.
4. Using the wizard set the rule as a "Program Rule", hit next, Select "This program path", find arma3server.exe found in the main arma 3 directory and hit next again. (mine is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3" but yours may be different.)
5. Set the next option to "Allow this connection" and hit next. In the next section keep all the boxes checked EG "Public", "Private" and "Domain" then hit next. You can also set this to just the network your using but this isn't required.
6. Set the name of the rule to arma 3 server or what ever you like really then hit Finish.
7. Now right click the created rule open the advanced tab and in Edge Traversal section select Allow Edge Trasversal from the dropdown, click Apply and Ok
 
All Arma servers will now load up instantly in the browser
Star the AhoyWorld servers as a favourite and this will make finding and filtering quicker in future
