First of all, I am seeing a lot of words being thrown around about not actually referring to the topic. Please refrain from that.
 
Secondly, currently it seems that both ACRE and TFAR are suffering from the new Eden update and do tend to bug out. Plus, they are a bit complicated for any new Arma player. As many people suggested, use in-game VON, it seems to be working fine (beside Side/Global/Command channel), but they can be bypassed by either TS or typing in game. They can be added at a later point, when their perfomance will be stable.
EDIT: has anyone tried to set up whispers between the channels, not certain clients?
 
If you are looking for mod suggestions, I would strongly suggest to check when was the last mod updated, in the last couple of months should be okey, any further back, the mod might not work anymore. Start with simple stuff, small-sized mods and then build up. The modpack should be a step between EU1/EU2 and EU3, please keep that in mind.
 
Slight offtopic:
Staff didn`t want to enter the conversation because we wanted to hear EVERYONEs opinion, before we would start participate. But with your "hatefull" discussion between EU1/EU2 players and EU3 players, you made use intervene before planned. Both groups should consider eachothers opinion and make the most of it.

As of the current situation only two admin staff have supported the idea of this, I get the distinct impression that none of you want this to happen for what ever reason whether it would be no resources or funds, We have various people who are willing to volunteer to make this happen and we are currently testing Ace 3 on I&A to see how it performs. The mods i described in my original post were to get people on the same track as to what the end result of the server or game night would be. As of the the issue with some form of TS integration, I proposed the use of a minimal form of Acre 2 because i wanted more people to use TS to encourage more coordination and teamwork than EU 1/2. We are trying to find out what mods work best with the untested I&A and to get more feedback on the mods that people would like to see, If the server or game night is not well optimized or the mod file size is too big then we have failed to accomplish what we set out to do ie good fps and to reach out to more people who want to sample some mods.

I would suggest acre not be added: it causes us no end of trouble on eu3. If you absolutely want a better Vox in game, tfar is probably easier overall to integrate, except my understanding is that it currently doesn't worknow with eden.
Given the small number of people on eu1/2 ts anyway I don't think it would really help. Why not encourage people to use arma's built in VON first, even if it's not great.

Because I've been completely disgusted by everyone's biased reactions towards my original post i have therefore decided to sit back and wait until the dust settles. And then we can hopefully all get back on the same track and not stay on the derailed one above. This was for the communities benefit not just for the potato squad as everyone else seems to believe.

Giddy came into TS the other day with a suggestion of having a smaller mod based server as a step between EU1 & EU3 that wasn't heavy on the mods, that might attract a few more into our "friendly" community, 
some folks who may not like the "Structured Fun" that is EU3
and some who are bored of EU1 & 2 and want a more lets let everyone have a bit of fun with all the "ye olde worlde" Arma mods and stuff that's available to spice up the mundane Altis / Stratis a bit.
 
Giddy was asked to put up this post to get a community feel to see how much interest, he didn't want to but we forced him as a discussion between 12 people on TS wasn't going to go anywhere, so he put up this post and so far nothing constructive has come from it, and only a 2 sided "our server is better than your server" argument reared it's head
there is no divide, we are one community, yes some play on one server over the other but it's AW that holds the lot together,
he shouldn't be getting called out by the mobs with pitch forks to be burned as a heretic by the EU3 mob or the EU1/2 mob for that matter
 
so if you could all pull your heads in and have a proper think as to what would make this, Great Idea by the way, of a semi mod server work or not work that would be a lot more welcome than a 2 sided heated debate

So here's what I imagine will happen this server will be given a trial period say a month or two. 
 
Since so far you only require mods I highly doubt a repo will put up for the trial period due to the amount of effort it would require to just hand out two mods.
 
If the trial period works then hey well done, if not oh well atleast you tried.
 
But from BOTH sides of this argument please stop saying you like or don't like things unless you've actually sat down and tried the play styles on either side.
 
I'll volunteer my services where ever they're needed to get this server a trial period. If that involves mission work, mod stuff, documentation etc feel free to PM me i'm experienced in all areas.

The above is the thing that (note, in *my* opinion) makes eu3 something i would be able to tolerate in only fairly small doses. Didn't like arbitrary ranks when i was in the military, still don't like them. Reasonable or not. Probably the above is also the reason why the references to milsim abound in this thread.
 
The other rules are perfectly fine, and as you say, common sense.
 
This is why this thread was posted, to sound out the playerbase and see to the feasibility of such a middle ground server, where the hierarchical rank structure doesn't exist but which offers the expanded possibilities of some mods to spice up the gameplay. That, and the enforcement of TS and a mic is pretty much what we are after.

Promoting EU3 isn't going to help those of us on EU1/2 that want a little bit more from our experience.....
What part of this are you not understanding, as has already been pointed out, this is about EU1/2 players....

This right here 'YOUR' reason NOT to have the server ..
This... IS THE REASON WE SHOULD.....

EU 3 is struggling for players, because people aren't comfortable downloading all the Mods and then not get help learning how to play,
or just don't have the hardware capable of handling it.

The only reason there seems to be a DIVIDE in the Community is because most EU3 players don't even attempt to engage with the players of EU1/2,
us EU1/2 players are more than happy to engage in conversation and discussion with guys on EU 3..
However, few of them seem to feel the same way.
I count myself lucky that I've been able to chat with some of the EU3 guys and have a fun conversation, not everyone gets that chance, UNLESS they play on EU3.

Having that MIDDLE GROUND would be a good way to help ease players in to the way EU3 works/runs, and might allow for a few more people to move over and populate that server.

I don't see any negatives to this idea, only positives...
But I guess that's just because of the way I view life in general....

It can't hurt to test it out, if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out and things can go back to the way they are....
If it does work out, then everyone wins.

Hello everyone me and a few of the community members were thinking of how we could bridge the gap between the vanilla servers ie EU 1/2 to the vastly modded EU 3. Because the servers are so different we feel that a semi modded EU 1/2 server would fill the gap, Possibly EU 5. This would give a bit more variety to the game play by using minimal mods on EU 1/2 maps and missions. This server would still give people the experience of team work but not be as hardcore. The mods we were thinking of using would be a Weapon's pack, Weapon Attachment pack, Uniform pack, Some form of a vehicle pack and less intrusive form of acre 2. Please tell me your thoughts if you think this is a good idea or not, Would love to get your feedback.
 
 
As of the recent issues in the comments below with some of the contradicting opinions of the community members i feel it would be in everyone's best interest to come up with a simple answer ie yes i would like this to happen or no it's not for me, I understand the reasons why some of the community don't want this to happen but this topic was never created for those individuals that had no intention of playing this server or game night. My original post wasn't meant to upset anyone it was a simple idea to see if people felt the same way but some individuals have taken it the wrong way. Thanks to the people who have expressed their opinion in a detailed way but lets keep it simple from now on. 

That wasn't the discussion i was talking about Colsta in that post, But i have no way else of explaining EU 3 for the people and there reasons for why they don't play it. How would you explain EU 3 so i don't use that terminology again?

 I have played EU 3 and i don't enjoy milsim or the poor fps, That's why i made the post because of the encouragement of the admin at the time to try and bridge the gap.
